TV time for a Time Out
or is it time’s running out so might as well enjoy the show while we’re here?

“But I don’t want to go among mad people," Alice remarked.
"Oh, you can’t help that," said the Cat: "we’re all mad here. I’m mad. You’re mad."
"How do you know I’m mad?" said Alice.
"You must be," said the Cat, "or you wouldn’t have come here.”

Stephen learns about Jack Smith, the special prosecutor who may bring an indictment against the former president. Elsewhere, FIFA’s decision to hold the World Cup in Qatar has proven to be a disaster.
Gave up on the “nightly” six p.m. national news decades ago. Gave up local news (murder, more murder, more more murder) except for the local weather report about a decade ago. Started watching more Netflix, Hulu, Prime etc. A few years ago, during the great government shutdown, I started watching DVD’s and YouTube. Now I watch a few things on Hulu and Prime, a lot on YouTube, and “movie night” a few days a week with the “movie” or whatever DVD I pull out that sounds interesting. About five of seven mornings I am able to see the local weather. Yup no television anymore.

Our announcer Lou celebrates his birthday, President Biden turned 80 on Sunday, his granddaughter Naomi got married at the White House on Saturday, the annual tradition of pardoning the turkeys took place on the South Lawn, Attorney General Merrick Garland did what Trump was hoping he wouldn’t and appointed a Special Counsel to take over the investigations into handling of classified documents, Mike Pence has been making the rounds for what has been the saddest book tour of all time, Trump is busy screaming about the price of turkey, Elon Musk announced that he is reinstating Trump’s Twitter account after a very legit online poll, Kanye West is back on Twitter too, our former boss Bob Iger is back as CEO of Disney, the World Cup is underway and one of the many controversies surrounding the tournament is that they aren’t selling alcohol at the games, and Jimmy and Guillermo lend Santa a helping hand by putting on their pointy ears and finding out if kids have been naughty or nice.
One of the great joys of my job is putting together countdowns of the best and worst songs for key holidays. For Christmas, I ranked 100 songs. For Halloween, 50. It seemed only right and natural that I should provide the same service at Thanksgiving. So that is exactly what I did!
And it was easy, because everyone knows there are lots and lots of preexisting classic Thanksgiving songs, and I certainly did NOT recently make all these songs up in collaboration with composer Jack Mitchell! And we certainly have no reason to thank the extremely talented performers listed in the credits at the bottom of this column, because, again, these are snippets of preexisting Thanksgiving songs with which everyone is familiar and which we didn’t entirely write and record this week!
So without further ado, the nine best Thanksgiving songs:

I love Alexandra’s 9 songs of Thanksgiving. I can hum 2 and one is coming to me … maybe…nope.

a little bit of T-day stories nostalgia to brighten your day

Herschel’s latest crazy:
Walker: “I used to love Archie Bunker. Did you not like Archie Bunker? But because of Senator Warnock, it wouldn’t be on the air because he’s still living in the past.”
Herschel has gone from kinda funny to just plain sad
Poobah, maybe you can interpret what Herschel was saying, or trying to say. I must have missed whatever Sen. Warnock said that Herschel is referring to (after not watching politics over the weekend) Does it have anything to do with Herschel’s attack on trans women and sports? Here’s a link to a Jezebel article running down Herschel’s latest. God save Georgia (from Herschel).
Something that I have been noticing on the advertising on social media is more of it is by and for younger generations, and a lot of it is not what would have been seen a couple of years ago. These are by major brands so it is not by small companies trying to get attention. Beer: young lady is running on sidewalk, turns into driveway and leans over to catch breath; at the top of the drive way is another young lady holding a couple bottles of beer. Obvious lesbian couple, Black and White. Many auto commercials/ads of LGBTQ and again Black and White. Many other brands of everything sold the same. The weird one is Jockey with what appears to be two couples in one living room in their Jockey ware. As my grandmother would say “purty gut”
Well… Rick and I are glad to be able to lose ourselves in watching sports on the tv for the last week…. we both have covid. My sister came up from NYC for a short visit and brought it with her. Thank god we are both fully vaccinated and have had 3 booster shots. It’s like a minor head cold for us… but we aren’t going anywhere to spread it. Thankful for family’s help.
the worst is the sore throats and the fatigue…
RR – that COVID thing is getting around. I have it. Started on the antivirals today. Hardest thing is I don’t get to spend Thanksgiving with my mother.
The wild thing to me was watching the home test tab go red. Almost the entire thing was red. Now it is just a pink tinge. Before, all that changed was the control stripe, with the virus color, what a difference.
Hope you are getting better.
“In their petition, the Republican committees argue that only 10 counties – “all of them Democratic-leaning” – plan to conduct early voting that day, “eviscerating the statutorily required uniformity among Georgia’s counties.”
“The new court petition comes a day after an appeals judge – in a victory for Warnock and Democrats – denied the state’s appeal of a lower court ruling that had allowed voting on the Saturday after a holiday.”
“Earlier Tuesday, voting rights advocates praised the lower court rulings that allowed Saturday balloting and publicly implored all 159 counties in the state to offer voting that day and to extend their hours on every early voting day. They said restricting advance voting could disenfranchise working-class Georgians.”
GA Repugz trying to help out Walker by making it harder to vote.
Dems need to make a lot more noise. We still need Warnock, because SynaMancin.

The “Q” shooting ……..
As our hamster wheel of hate spins along, this one marks a new level of American crazy . Not the shooters sad story , and the targets he picked . That’s straight out of central casting . What’s new is heros , a drag queen and a Latino retired Army Major with 2 Bronze Stars kicked his ass.
All those Texas cops failed those kids and teachers back in May, a guy wearing a “man bun” and a drag queen put their shooter in the hospital .
The more we learn about this one stranger the picture it paints.
If this was a movie outline …………… No one would touch it, and your agent would drop you.
Trump has to turn over his taxes !
The Big Court rules.
This will drive him insane , not the ruling so much , as their failure to kiss his ass.
TV News ………….
A “chopper” is a device to cut carrots sold at 3:00 AM on TV.
A helicopter flies over car chases in LA.
Both feed on eyeballs .
RR & BB – Feel better. I had it in September (between shots 4 & 5) but had no fatigue.
Just trying to get my heart rate down now. School is out and the neighborhood weasels are back banging on my door (and running away) so hard it knocked the magnetic geegaws off of it. Hoping they don’t start breaking windows, again; I had three over a period of a year. Covid lockdown put and end to it and I thought maybe they had all left the neighborhood. Nope.
I need to move out of Texas this spring.
The real rot in TV news is the morning shows . A gigglefest where they all talk over each other. And the Breaking News is ………………. There’s a lot of fucking folks at the airport.
Never mind all those millions parts of life being driven over the climate cliff a long the East Coast of Africa . Taylor Swift fans are in meltdown.
An in depth report after the break.
OM – I can never forget when you said some of the talking heads on TV sounded like “kindergarten teacher.” Our local, NBC talkers are a prime example. No matter how dire the story, it sounds like they are reading nursery rhymes before passing out milk and graham crackers to the kiddies. The only time that tube is appropriate on the news is when talking about Taylor Swift.
That TS is a big story, though. Live Nation/Ticket Master have also been buying up venues. It’s a monopoly and Congress was on this before the Swifties had a meltdown.
OM – Do think living in Lubbock is any better than DFW? Relocating soon.

The idea that corporations are people under the law is the root of much of the wrongs at work today .
I wish this would be rerun over and over again , not because it would win , but because it is wrong ..
This is what the Right did . They schelled the courts for 50 years with law suits .
Now we all live in that gun free paradise , where gas is 50 cents.
And above all , old white men still run the world.

Do it , I have no clue about housing , but gas $2.99 a gallon. This is the oldest place of unbroken man in the Western Hemisphere , we have a State Park to prove ir.
There is “Big Medicene” at Lubbock.
