“These are Trump terrorists. Call them by their name.”

The quote above by Joe Scarborough could be the subtitle for the latest National Terrorism Advisory System Bulletin issued yesterday by the Department of Homeland Security.

Summary

The Acting Secretary of Homeland Security has issued a National Terrorism Advisory System (NTAS) Bulletin due to a heightened threat environment across the United States, which DHS believes will persist in the weeks following the successful Presidential Inauguration.  Information suggests that some ideologically-motivated violent extremists with objections to the exercise of governmental authority and the presidential transition, as well as other perceived grievances fueled by false narratives, could continue to mobilize to incite or commit violence.

“But I don’t want to go among mad people," Alice remarked. "Oh, you can’t help that," said the Cat: "we’re all mad here. I’m mad. You’re mad." "How do you know I’m mad?" said Alice. "You must be," said the Cat, "or you wouldn’t have come here.” ― Lewis Carroll, Alice in Wonderland

Three self-styled militia members charged in the Jan. 6 breach of the U.S. Capitol began soliciting recruits for potential violence within days of the 2020 presidential election, later training in Ohio and North Carolina and organizing travel to Washington with a busload of comrades and a truck of weapons, U.S. authorities alleged Wednesday.
A four-count indictment returned in D.C. laid out fresh details and allegations against Jessica Marie Watkins, 38, and Donovan Ray Crowl, 50 — both of Woodstock, Ohio — and Thomas E. Caldwell, 66, of Berryville, Va. The three, all U.S. military veterans, are accused of conspiring to obstruct Congress and other counts, punishable by up to 20 years in prison.
Prosecutors have said Caldwell appears to have ties to the anti-government Oath Keepers extremist group — although his attorney said he is not a member. They also have alleged that the retired Navy lieutenant commander helped organize dozens of others who coordinated their movements as they “stormed the castle” to disrupt the confirmation of President Biden’s electoral college victory.
Real-time conversations recovered from a walkie-talkie-style app captured Watkins discussing a group of about 30 to 40 “sticking together and sticking to the plan” during the breach, according to court documents previously filed in the case.
In a 15-page indictment unsealed Wednesday, prosecutors revealed new allegations, accusing Watkins of contacting recruits on Nov. 9, six days after the election, for a “Basic Training” camp outside Columbus, Ohio, in early January so they would be “fighting fit by innaugeration.” Prosecutors also allege that Watkins participated in a “leadership only” conference call via an encrypted app, and that Caldwell arranged with another person bringing “at least one full bus 40+ people coming from N.C.” and weaponry ahead of Jan. 6.
    […]
On Dec. 30, Caldwell messaged Watkins saying, “If [Person One] isn’t making plans, I’ll take charge myself, and get the ball rolling,” the indictment stated. On Jan. 2, Caldwell allegedly concluded, “I don’t know if [Person One] has even got out his call to arms, but its a little friggin late. This one we do on our own. This is one we are doing on our own.”
    […]
In their planning, according to prosecutors, the group cited the perceived direction of President Donald Trump, embracing his false claims of election fraud and readying for a fight in apocalyptic terms.
“Trump wants all able-bodied Patriots to come” to the Jan. 6 “Stop the Steal” rally, Watkins is quoted as saying on Dec. 29.
“If Trump activates the Insurrection Act, I’d hate to miss it,” she added, according to the indictment.
Asked earlier by a recruit what to prepare for, Watkins allegedly wrote in November that if Biden became president, “our way of life as we know it is over. Our Republic would be over. Then it is our duty as Americans to fight, kill and die for our rights.”
“If Biden get the steal, none of us have a chance in my mind. We already have our neck in the noose. They just haven’t kicked the chair yet,” she said, according to the indictment.

Here it is end of January and it hasn’t even been cold yet. Maybe next month, eh?

  4. Morning Joe did an update on deaths and injury from the Capitol attack

Another police suicide bringing the police deaths to 3

    Probable loss of one eye

    Crushed spinal  disks

    Brain injury

and the result of injuries keeps mounting.

Joe calling Trump “Cop Killer” is proving to be very accurate

  5. jamie, but ironically the GOPers seem only to honor dead cops and talk the talk, but not walk the walk, when it comes to the insurrection

    the hill

Two Republican lawmakers from South Carolina plan on introducing companion bills Thursday seeking to get approval for Capitol Police Officer Brian Sicknick, who died after sustaining injuries at the Jan. 6 pro-Trump riot, to lie in honor at the Capitol next week.
Sen. Tim Scott (R-S.C.) and Rep. Ralph Norman (R-S.C.) will introduce the measures mid-morning Thursday, according to plans shared first with The Hill, which include proposed plans for a memorial service on Feb. 3 in the Capitol Rotunda.
    […]
In a statement to The Hill, Scott said that Sicknick’s “selfless heroism, and the bravery of all the officers who defended democracy that day, should be honored and remembered.”
“Officer Brian Sicknick risked his life serving our country in uniform overseas, yet he ultimately gave his life defending our Capitol from threats here at home,” Scott said. “My prayers continue to be with Officer Sicknick’s loved ones and the family members of all our brave law enforcement officers.”
Norman echoed messages of condolences in his own statement and added, “The attacks at the Capitol on January 6th show us that, now more than ever, we must support our police.”
“Just as U.S. Capitol Police put themselves in harm’s way last week to protect the seat of American democracy, the same selflessness and sacrifice is made every day by law enforcement officers across our nation. Each of them deserves our honor and support,” Norman added.

  6. be sure to also call this GOPer congresscritter by the name,  trump terrorist

    the guardian:

Survivors of the 2018 mass shooting in Parkland, Florida, are asking congressional Republicans to publicly censure Marjorie Taylor Greene for suggesting the school shooting was a “false flag” and for harassing a teenage survivor on Capitol Hill in 2019.
Greene, the newly elected Georgia congresswoman who is known for her support of the pro-Trump QAnon conspiracy theory, was filmed in March 2019 as she followed 18-year-old David Hogg, one of the students who survived the shooting at Marjorie Stoneman Douglas high school, outside Capitol Hill.
In the clip from 25 March, Greene can be heard calling Hogg a “coward”,….
    […]
“She hasn’t disowned any of it,” Fred Guttenberg, whose 14-year-old daughter, Jaime, was among the 17 students and staff killed in the shooting, told the Guardian on Wednesday. “She hasn’t said, ‘I was wrong.’ She hasn’t said, ‘I’m sorry to the families I’ve hurt.’ She hasn’t said, ‘I accept the truth around Parkland, Sandy Hook, and 9/11.’ She has let the lie live. That makes her incapable of serving as a representative in Congress.”
Guttenberg said he had told Greene publicly via Twitter that he would be “more than happy to share proof with her” that his daughter’s murder was real, but that he received no response.
Guttenberg called on the top Republican in the House of Representatives, Kevin McCarthy, to take a public stand against Greene. “McCarthy loses any ability to talk about integrity, about unity, about service to the country if he refuses to deal with this,” Guttenberg said.
Hogg himself wrote to McCarthy on Twitter, arguing Greene “basically has threatened to kill” gun violence survivors, “trying to trigger our PTSD”.
“In that video you see a group of people most of whom are 18 or 19 acting calm cool and collected – what you don’t see are the sleepless nights, the flashbacks, the hyper vigilance and deep pitch black numbness so many of us feel living in a society were we are told our friends dying doesn’t matter, “ Hogg wrote.
“Take her Committee assignments away,” he pleaded. Greene’s committee assignments have not yet been announced, but the congresswoman has said she will sit on the education panel.
On Wednesday, the California representative Jimmy Gomez said he would be introducing a resolution to expel Greene from Congress.

  7. WOW!  I watch Morning Joe only when we are in a motel, hotel, timeshare condo…  when we are away from home.  I rarely turn the tv on at home much before 4pm on weekdays.  Good on Joe for that rant!

I know that Biden wants us to be  civil and non-divisive.  But we need to label Republicans for the spineless…   non-democratic…  cretins that they are.  Dems on FB are doing a good job of turning the label “snowflakes” back at them.  The right has been trying to say that the assholes that attacked the Capitol on Jan 6th are really antifa….   to which I say a giant…   FUCK YOU!

  8. Mike Pence, and “Mother” are couch surfing in Indiana  the guy hasn’t owned a house in ten years.
As Colbert said last night. ………………

“Couch Surfing in Indiana” was also the title of the worst Beach Boys album ever .

  9. I knew this kid in Eagle, Co they all called “Cow Chopper”.    Took me quite awhile to figure out they were actually calling her Couch Hopper.

  10. Pence  is a pivot point where this power struggle is going to play out.
He comes from that vein of  American Wing Nuts that love the Jews,  because they are  a key component  in the whole “Rapture Movement”.
Trump & Jerrard  played this card  very well for them , the idea being to peel off the Jewish vote . Moving the embassy  , etc.

However, white young guys marching in Virginia with teaky-torches, and chanting ,  ” The Jews will not replace us”.  Should have given young Jerrard some pause .
Like when they were in the rotunda , chanting , “Hang Mike Pence”.
The GOP is now riding a tiger that they bred in a Murdoch petri dish.
And their tiger as all the morals , and reasoning of a meth head.

  11. The 30,000   leaving the GOP  story  ……………
Over 10,000  in Penn .  While the state Party  goes all in for Trump.
What is  the real bloodbath going on now ?
Open warfare in the states.  Right down to the dog catcher vote.
They are after Liz Cheney’s  head dress , in Wyoming .
    In Wyoming !
As these wildfires burn all reason out of the party.  These defections  will only serve to the cull the herd of any sane people.
By the midterms , the GOP will look like  the end zone crowd of an old Oakland Raiders game.

  12. The Climate moves Joe is making –
He needs  hammer home that the coal  business  picked up speed on it’s long nosedive under #45.
These numbers under #45  are just horrible , all over the world, not just here.
That oil & gas new job numbers for the last 5 years, are not anywhere near what  solar , wind, geothermal , etc., etc.
He needs to draft that giant Lt. Gov.  from Penn. , and Sen. Testor from Mont., and let those guys sell the change.

Send them to West Virginia , and shoot the entire event in a high school gym  talking to miners.

  13. One thing the flyin’ monkeys  do really well  is message  –
Some shaman sitting in the ether  writes  a short message , with 4 or 5 bullet points.

    And BINGO!

They are all saying the same thing , all over , top to bottom, front to back.  The party , and every cog in the wingnut wind machine.

    The Donkey’s don’t do dat.

  14. JohnFetterman is lt gov of pa. Running for the senate. I think his ass is at work

  15. Put these two men  in three high school  gyms .
    West Virginia
    Iowa
    Wyoming
The  pitch with questions …………  tape it all .
Give them the mission , and let them do it.  And give them who they want to staff  it, and a crew to shoot it.
    And barn storm it !
If the last 5 years has taught us anything it’s that barnstorming works.
See the movie …………  Patton  the Flag  Speech .

It is really a war ,  we are not just fighting each other  we are fighting our entire world.

  16. MS  Crackler –
My point exactly ,  and this is not idol idea. It is designed to have a fat press gaggle.
    And  “The Flying Monkey Airforce”.

  17. Fossil fuels have got to go.  So glad POTUS Biden stopped Keystone.  Loved his pick for Sec. o/t Interior!
What I didn’t realize was that there are tribes who rely on profits from gas and oil. If a way can be found to transition and benefit them, as well, that would be ideal.

  18. A Two Battery World   –
This idea  was not possible when I first read Farrington’s –
“Direct Use of the Sun’s Energy”
    I still own a copy.
    Watch this ,
You have a home with PV panels , and a used car battery in the garage.  You have a car with the same battery . It is coated with a solar film . All day at work in the sun ,  the “paint” is charging that new battery.
At night  you get home, plug in the car , and the 2 batteries plan the next day.

Here’s really cool part , breaking on an E vehicle, the motor runs backward . It becomes a generator , and feeds power back into the battery.

  19. OM – If that really works, well, someone will pay you to bury the idea.   After all, what good are humans if they aren’t working to buy more stuff?

  20. Blue –
He’s going to make your roof all solar.   And it will look good.
Next is the used  Tesla battery..
( The demands of driving, are nowhere near running a dishwasher. ) These are not double DD’s.
Next, the car. It’s part of your house now, then batteries talk
It ain’t  flying Nikes , but I’ll take it.

  21. I have always come here  with this in my mind ,  to write  cheap , short, and pity lines.

It ain’t  flying Nikes , but I’ll take it.

  22. Young Crawford –
I have this pitch  about this  sleeping idea that has blown-up.
This story will make a great book.
I am sending you my broadside.
    It’s a “wordpad”  from Windows 7.
    A giant fight is starting.

  23. I  solved this entire fight .
The lease holders have to spend  $300 Million to run freights.
My plan , mow the fucking right of way. And let’s start selling tickets.
