spreading the new old gospel this Christmas season, another volley from Christianity Today as reported by Reuters:
…the magazine’s president, Timothy Dalrymple, wrote in the editorial, headlined “The Flag in the Whirlwind,” that evangelicals’ embrace of Trump means being tied to his “rampant immorality, greed, and corruption; his divisiveness and race-baiting; his cruelty and hostility to immigrants and refugees.” “With profound love and respect,” Dalrymple said, “we ask our brothers and sisters in Christ to consider whether they have given to Caesar what belongs only to God: their unconditional loyalty.”

I hope you all have a Merry Christmas, I’m going to my sister’s for a couple of days. She wanted me to stay in a spare bedroom but I booked a cheap motel room where I can go hide if need be.
I held off on this John Lennon song until today, It was Mrs Jacks favorite.
Have a great holiday everyone.

Merry Christmas, Happy Chanukah, and a Moving Kwanzaa to all.
And, dear G!D, pleasePleasePLEASE, make it springtime, quick.
Special good wishes for Dad & Dave, all the absent friends, and our tireless team of Trail Lurkers, who are always ready with topics about which they feel shy.
X-R, sounds like you need to put on an extra layer of woolies. speaking of those old-fashioned undergarments, seems mankind has come a long way from the old cotton long johns aka union suits (and why were they always red?). great stuff nowadays in thermal, smart wool, even silk…
how does a stylish modern Minnesotan get thru the wintertime these days?
Merry Christmas, Happy Chanukah, Joyous Kwanzaa and best wishes for a wonderful New Year. I wish I could send a pic of the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree, but iPhone photos just don’t post for me. Oh well, There are plenty of pictures of the tree and the Swarovski crystal topper on line.
A merry Christmas (or whatever you celebrate this time of year). Except of course, SFB. A lump of coal for the dotard…in fact, make it 2. The dumba$$ is bringing coal back. Remember?
Isn’t it fascinating how the human ear can distinguish the sound of something brittle shattering?
That’s neither here nor there- Merry Christmas to all, except the innocent children our government keeps in cages in for-profit detention facilities funded by your federal taxes, and a happy New Year!
Ms Pat,
The weather today was warmer than usual. Since Sweetie and I moved into the co-op I have underground parking and no duties outside other than driving. Life is good that way. It is the greenery that I miss. From our unit we look out upon a great wall of cherry, maple, cottonwood, lilac, and ash. I prefer it to be green.
I haven’t been accused of being stylish – or anything near worthy of a positive comment – in nearly 20 years. sigh. Sartorially speaking, I’m something between Rumpole of the Bailey and Red Green, and on that continuum I am closer to the latter.
Stylish Minnesotans bundle up. I hear that bulky woolen finger-knit moebia scarves and Ugg boots are still in style. Sweetie has a double breasted coat that looks like different color carpet patches connected to each other by narrow strips of (?false?) fur, and the whole trimmed with (?fake?) fur at neck, wrists, and hem. It sounds ghastly, but it’s really warm, fun and beautious. I wear lined leather jackets; haven’t had to wear the old parka since we moved into the co-op. I think -7F is the coldest we’ve had this December. Not bad, but not green, either.

X-R, even without the leaves here, there is an over-abundance of cedar so kinda looks Christmassy fir & spruce green if you squint real good.
you still didn’t answer my question of why union suits were always red. I must admit, they did fade to a nice soft pink after a few winters.
