  5. Whew…government shut down over and the yard waste abuser, runt paul, had his say.  The gop jumped the shark when they blew a 1.5 trillion dollar hole in the economy with their December tax cuts and now?  That shark is going to come back and devour the party in November.

    I live in a blue state with red overtones and it seems the dems are gaining more ground, confidence.  From our Senators to more young, Hispanic women running for office…most importantly, running for pearce’s congressional seat.  It is looking like a richer shade of blue for New Mexico.

Myers said she has routine access to secret material.
     
    The White House would not identify others who have access to such material without security clearances and would not say how many of the 100-plus staff members who have not concluded the FBI clearance process are newer — or longtime — employees.
    Last week House Republicans raised the issue of White House officials failing to complete the clearance process. Myers acknowledged that she had not, due to the press of other business, and said that only one other senior official fit that category. That is Ricki Seidman, who has served as deputy communications director, as a counselor to the chief of staff and now as head of the scheduling operation. She did not return phone calls.
     
    Myers said, in clarifying the numbers of those lacking clearances, that of the 125 most senior jobs at the White House, all but 15 have completed the FBI background checks and have security clearances. All National Security Council staff members fit that category, she said.
     
    But of the White House staff overall, which includes workers from secretaries in the social secretary’s office to computer operators, a little more than 100 lack the clearances. “Most of them don’t have a need to deal with secure documents,” Myers said. But she could not estimate how many have access to such documents or could see them if they tried.

  37. A funny thing about clearances.  I needed a higher level on one of my clearances.  It dragged along for a year without action.  Finally it was discovered sitting on a desk. So it was given to an investigator to put some speed on it.  Eight months later it was MIA again.  Rattle some cages and it was found again. Nothing happening until SFB transition team was in a panic.  The people who do things realized that my paperwork was complete and if they held it any longer they would be overwhelmed with the transition and staff clearances.  So it was popped out just before SFB inauguration.  It should take less than a year, but it took over two years and SFB showing up to get it  done.

    These furloughs are getting to me.  I need to be retrained after them as I lose all my bearings of where I should be working and what I should be doing.

  47. Trump speechwriter David Sorensen resigned today amid allegations of domestic violence brought forth by his ex-wife Jessica Corbett, WashPost first reported and Axios has confirmed. Sorensen denies the allegations, alleging he is the victim of abuse from Corbett.
    Why it matters: Sorensen is the second Trump administration official to resign over domestic violence claims this week.
