Five beautiful songs by Faure. They seem somehow perfect for a quiet Sunday morning.

As always enjoy the music but especially enjoy the day!

  1. sorry to spoil sunday, but devious dog in red shades above made me do it.
excerpt from ny times “Trump Team Met With Lawyer Linked to Kremlin During Campaign”
The previously unreported meeting was also attended by Mr. Trump’s campaign chairman at the time, Paul J. Manafort, as well as the president’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner, according to interviews and the documents, which were outlined by people familiar with them.
While President Trump has been dogged by revelations of undisclosed meetings between his associates and Russians, this episode at Trump Tower on June 9, 2016, is the first confirmed private meeting between a Russian national and members of Mr. Trump’s inner circle during the campaign. It is also the first time that his son Donald Trump Jr. is known to have been involved in such a meeting.
Representatives of Donald Trump Jr. and Mr. Kushner confirmed the meeting after The Times approached them with information about it. In a statement, Donald Jr. described the meeting as primarily about an adoption program. The statement did not address whether the presidential campaign was discussed.

so they said it was a  meeting about “an adoption program”…. russia adopting us?

  2. Thank You Jace for your devotion to bring peace & beauty to all of us.

    patd,

    Never apologize for spreading truth.

  3. heads outta the sand! it’s Cassandra crying out time, folks.  this from raw story when Richard Clarke, former National Coordinator for Security, Infrastructure Protection and Counter-terrorism for the United States [whose new book, Warnings: Finding Cassandras to Stop Catastrophes kinda says it all] warned:

“They’ll be back… The Russians will be back… What should have happened after the last election is that the U.S. government should have instituted very comprehensive programs to make sure the Russians could never get involved in our democracy again. And we’ve done nothing. Nothing at all.”

He cited former FBI Director James Comey, who sounded the alarm during his hearing, saying, “they will be back.”

The most important thing he said that gets very little attention is that the Russians had tens of thousands of fake social media accounts that were used to sway opinion based on an online mob mentality.

“They were microtargeting individual voters in swing districts shaping their opinions — its psychological warfare on a grand scale. They conducted the largest psychological warfare campaign in history and they won,” Clarke said.

….This is the 21st century equivalent to having Russians land Marines on the Jersey Shore. They invaded our country. They invaded our political system and they won. And he doesn’t care.”

  4. First thank you Jace for your noble efforts on our behalf.

Second, TV for the lovers of words.  “Will” brings the young Shakespeare to London and “Still Star Crossed” both on TNT tells you what happened next after Romeo and Juliet bit the dust.  There is enough blood, gore, family drama, excellent acting, costumes, and general soap opera to satisfy any fiend for Elizabethan machinations.

Third on the Trump debacle front:  Does Donald Trump’s awkward performance indicate America’s decline?

  5. We have breakfast with friends at a  local cafe most Sundays.  I always make sure to get up in plenty of time to hear whatever selection Jace has put up for us before we leave.   Not so this morning…  gotta leave in a few….  won’t have time to listen until after…   CRAP!

but how sweet it will be when we return…

  6. Jace

Too early for Mr. C but I thank you for all you bring to our musical knowledge.  This has to be the best music appreciation class ever.

I had to get up early to work in the garden before it gets too hot.  I never knew one could sweat so much without moving

  7. Very strange stuff coming from the SFB twitter machine.  25th Amendment time?

    Here is a Russian warship.

in the same area as the UK and US vessels.

  8. Patd,

    Re. Your 7:44.

I have come to the conclusion that Trump is the  ‘shiney object’ upon which a nation with attention deficit disorder focuses its gaze. Is he a threat? Quite possibly. Is he the most dangerous and ominous threat we face? Hardly.

I am far more concerned about the long term and institutional threats posed by such things as foreign ( Make that Russian) interfearance in our elections, the direct assault on press freedom, and the systematic disenfranchisement of voters across the country. Trump may be a menace, but he is a temporary menace bathed in a bright light that will grow dimmer with time. He is the symptom of a national disease. His presence be it long term or short will serve only to divert our attention from the real causes of our national illness. We ignor the warnings of Clarke, and yes even Comey at our peril.

When a magician holds up his hand and says “watch my hand” we are well advised to look any place but his hand. As a country we need to learn that lesson sooner rather than later.

  9. Today Harbor Woman and I will be meeting for lunch and off to watch the ponies run around.

  10. Well….   that was definitely worth the wait…  what a beautiful voice!

    Thanks, Jace…

  11. jace, yes renee is right…thanks for treating us this a.m. with the ms didonato. in repayment and atonement for the bummer posts on this lovely day here she is to up lift us again

  12. Lindsey sure has a way with words 🙂
    from raw story:

When it comes to Russia I am dumbfounded, I am disappointed, and at the end of the day he’s hurting his presidency by not embracing the fact that Putin is a bad guy,” Graham told host Chuck Todd.

“He is literally the only person I know of who doesn’t believe Russia attacked our election in 2016,” Graham said of Trump who still refuses to blame Putin or Russian hackers.

As for for Trump’s proposal to form a “cyber security unit” with the Russian strongman, Graham got right to the point.

“It’s not the dumbest idea I’ve ever heard—but it’s pretty close,” he quipped.

  13. Thanks all for the feed back. So much music and so little time.

I am mindful of the reality that if I did this 365 days a year I would not even scratch the surface of what is out there. Once a week does not even constitute a pin prick. That said, I do enjoy it.? Almost as much as I enjoy reading all your posts and comments. They invariably make for very special reading and many healthy smiles.

  14. For all those wishing to escape the Trump horror filled fantasy land, there are two events on TV tonight for basic palate cleansing:

Earth Live – Wildlife around the world:  National Geographic Live

Amelia Earhart:  The Lost Evidence on History Channel

  15. Oh, Lindsey.  Don’t say things like that & make me love you.

BB – Slowly turning up the heat so the frog/America won’t  know it’s being boiled?  We know.  Why isn’t Congress more upset, though?

    Jamie- Have fun with Harbor.

  16. dv, speaking of folk who loudly proclaim being christian but being a bit un-christian in actual actions

  17. Divatle300,

you are right it is unchristian and disgraceful. That is when national companies and organizations need to step in and help. Nothing like a business boycott of St.Louis to get their attention. Cancelled reservations, conventions, sporting events you name it. They will come around.

  18. considering more hypocrisy of the Pharisees amongst us, how come they make grand gestures of compassion and loudly lament the one baby dying in Britain yet ignore the embarrassing rate of infant mortality here.  not only ignore but want to cut funding for maternal & child health programs to make matters worse.   reducing minimum wage pales in comparison to canceling life saving health care.

  19. Hi Jace,

Actually – it’s the Missouri state government.  They’re passing this exemption law that voids St. Louis’s new minimum wage and stops Kansas City’s $15 minimum wage ballot initiative.  A bunch of states have done this, as well as passing laws that undo civic gay rights protections, etc.

If there is a hell – these people should have engraved invitations.  Bastards!

Of course, I live in Texas – no need to say more.

  20. Don’t apologize, patd, your links are my primary motivation for continuing to peruse this blog, besides brow-beating enablers of fascists and what-not.

Thanks for the encouragement, Sj- i will politely pull a Bartleby on that one, though 😉

  21. How would ya like to have been standing in the group of reporters at whom Putin Pointed iis finger?

    #SoiledUndies

Are these the Bullies who picked on you, Old Man?

  22. Watching America In Color, The 1930s, on Smithsonian Channel. Wow was Herbert Hoover really really uninspiring. The Scolder In Chief.

The Bonus Army Camp being burned down is a great image too ….

  23. Shit.  Work, work, work.

So if anyone ever wonders why Democrats were doomed in West Virginia, I saw quite the example of it today. Going down route 50, which is a 65 mile an hour four lane limited access highway through our little town I’m behind a 15 year old gold Toyota Camry driven by a 75 to 80-year-old woman with her nose almost touching the steering wheel, going 5 to 7 miles an hour below the limit, with a handicap plackard hanging from her rearview mirror, right turn signal going for miles until she took a right hand exit ramp and a Make America Great Again cap on the rear deck of her car. I am willing to concede her vote, but the problem is that I’m certain that her kids and grandkids think the same way she does. That’s why dems are doomed here.

  24. Yeah, that “Make America Great Again” hat is code for “purge non-white minorities from America”, and anyone who tells you different is either stupid or full-of-shit.

    Bears repeating. A lot.

  25. It’s all moot, anyway.  In less than 6 months, Trump has already pissed away all of our international alliances, interjected our nation into a conflict with a nuclear-capable nation, deregulated the financial services industries to a point where our entire economy will be built on a foundation of sand, gutted public safety institutions while staffing those same agencies with executives who have undeniable conflicts of interest, and oh, yeah- compromised our entire military intelligence network via Russia.

    Kazahkstan has a brighter future.

  26. One last point-

You know why the middle-American racists speak in code?  It’s because THEY KNOW in their hearts what they’re saying is morally-wrong: THEY KNOW.  Euphemizing it clears their conscience of the associated guilt.

Something to keep in mind.  Bye!
