  1. My son just called to tell me about Carrie. WTF2016 are you out to kill everyone? Glad to see she got honorable mention on Trail Mix. RIP Princess Leia

  2. Thank you for running a current picture…..Star Wars was just a movie the child had a part in.

  3. I fell in love with Carrie when she came out.  Due things I never saw Star Wars until sometime in the 90’s (maybe later).  She is one of the few Hollywood types I ever considered to be someone I would bother to be interested in.

Gary Shandling died today.  He was very funny, not fully appreciated for what he accomplished.

2016 is proving to be one hellacious year.

Looking at trawlers, useful for not spending a lot of time in country.

What is more scary than anything is the lunatic could cause massive nuclear destruction screwing around  in his imaginary world connected to a real world with a phone.

  4. My 16-yo nephew’s kid, Lewis, funeral was last week Wednesday. He was respected and well liked–more than 2,000 attended. I’m tired of  people dying.

  5. Flatus – I grew tired of death a long time ago.  Some day I might write about it.  Death is really bad when a young person is the one who departed.

  6. BB

Make sure your trawler is schooner-rigged; that way you have half a chance to make it around the Cape and over to Australia.

  7. Turned on the TV – NBC Nightly News was on. First story? Miss Fisher’s death. Third story? The visit to Pearl Harbor. No offense, but priorities were screwed here. Order should have been switched.

Oh & btw, today’s secret word (or “woid”) is: iconic.

    Hooray for Captain Spaulding.

  8. So many of the celebs who died this year came of age in the ’70s, ’80s. Lots of abuse & abusing: has to do something to one’s innards.

  9. Thank you SJ and Jamie, and others when I mentioned it last week. At that point I went into suicide prevention mode working to preclude further tragedy; we’ve had enough–Alice, Crystal and now, Lewis.

All, please understand, for any number of reasons, it can happen in your families as well. Please be vigilant. So far as I know, the only working factor is bullying at school. It was not being ignored by the family.

  10. Flatus: I know I’m not reading your comments correctly but condolences on whoever the 16 yr old was and if it was due to bullying it’s even more tragic. These things are devastating to family members. Sounds like your family has a lot to deal with right now. {{{<3}}}

I fear 2017 may be even worse than 2016…I read an article last week about how many entertainment icons are 80+, 90+ even 100+! It’s gonna be a sad year I think…and that’s not even counting anything the fuhrer might do 😮

  11. A sad month – on the heels of a sad year.  With doubts that the next month and year – will be worse.  Are we hopeful that this will repair itself / get better?

    We should not be.

  12. Flatus, so sorry to hear about your nephew’s son. I didn’t catch that last week. Deaths of young people are particularly difficult.

Didn’t really know Ricky Harris. Never really watched that Chris Rock show. But still … damn.
