The House of GOPers Founding Fathers or Found Fathers

Possible evidence from today’s The Guardian:

At least half of the Neanderthal genome – probably as much as 60 to 70% of it, Pääbo believes – is to be found in living humans. “Which means that in effect Neanderthals are not really extinct at all, they are in us.”

[…]

It was a shock, Pääbo stresses, to discover that people who have inherited a certain Neanderthal chromosome variant, were twice as likely to die of Covid if infected.

[…]

Another surprising discovery relates to pain perception.

[which may explain the GOPer victimhood arguments]

“But I don’t want to go among mad people," Alice remarked. "Oh, you can’t help that," said the Cat: "we’re all mad here. I’m mad. You’re mad." "How do you know I’m mad?" said Alice. "You must be," said the Cat, "or you wouldn’t have come here.” ― Lewis Carroll, Alice in Wonderland

  1. colbert supplies further evidence

Members of the House GOP went on Fox News last night to boast about the diversity of the party, Rep. George Santos refuses to resign despite being outed as a serial liar, and Stephen is not interested in switching to an electric stove.

  2. Colbert nailed it. “… and that’s just George Santos.” Didn’t see that punchline coming. And “…twice as many men named Mike than they have women chairing committees.” Colbert has great writers.

  3. Because I am mostly Finnish I carry a “high percentage” of Neanderthal genes.  It is no doubt the make love not war philosophy that has carried on through generations of my ancestors down to me.

  4. I was dismayed when I found out that more classified documents were found at Biden’s home…  then I found out they were found in his garage….   yeah right.

Sturg appears to be correct…  the civil war is here.

  5. Something is very fishy with classified documents popping up all over the place at President Biden’s home.  I thought his comment on the first set found was interesting.  He said something like ‘I don’t remember working on classified documents there’.  Something else is bothering me, they keep finding them mixed into boxes of other documents.  I still would like to know the dates on them.

  6. The Washington Post

A lawyer for President Biden pledged cooperation Thursday with the special counsel appointed to investigate the handling of classified documents found at Biden’s former office and Delaware home and expressed confidence that the review would find the documents were “inadvertently misplaced.”
“As the President said, he takes classified information and materials seriously, and as we have said, we have cooperated from the moment we informed the Archives that a small number of documents were found, and we will continue to cooperate,” Biden lawyer Richard Sauber said in a statement.
“We have cooperated closely with the Justice Department throughout its review, and we will continue that cooperation with the Special Counsel,” Sauber said. “We are confident that a thorough review will show that these documents were inadvertently misplaced, and the President and his lawyers acted promptly upon discovery of this mistake.”
The statement was issued shortly after Attorney General Merrick Garland announced that Robert K. Hur, a former U.S. attorney in Maryland who also served as a senior Justice Department official during the Trump administration, would serve as special counsel.

  7. Yeah, (planted) docs everywhere. They got greedy/carried away with themselves.  Let’s just hope there’s some way (or someone) for the planters to be found out.

  8. clip from article about proud boys trial opening statements today

Proud Boys trial: U.S. says defendants didn’t ‘stand back’ on Jan. 6 – The Washington Post

The attorney for Ethan Nordean, the first defendant named in the seditious conspiracy indictment, briefly assigned blame for the Jan. 6, 2021, riot to former president Donald Trump and then claimed there was no evidence of planning by the Proud Boys before they stormed the Capitol.
Nicholas D. Smith, Nordean’s lawyer, said the riot was “an embarrassment to the country … a crass spectacle in front of the world. You don’t need to hear it from me: Attacks on law enforcement are unacceptable.” Smith said, “You will hear from witnesses who they understood was responsible for this. Who they understood was the prime mover that whipped up the crowd at his rally, that urged them onto the Capitol at his rally on Jan. 6.” The former president was not specifically named.

  9. She was talented. I heard her sing in Atlantic City, as an opening act for Chris Isaak.  She wrote her own songs.

  10. Sturg, racist comments in Vestavia Hills – tell me it isn’t so. Well, it is awfully close to Mountain Brook.
