  1. meanwhile on a lighter note, Act I of the HRH Charlie show across the pond

  2. from ed mazza at yahoo:

Stephen Colbert is looking forward to what could be the season finale of the Jan. 6 committee hearings as the panel gears up to reveal what Rep. Zoe Lofgren (D-Calif.) called “pretty surprising” material about the attempt to keep former President Donald Trump in power.
And the “Late Show” host has one wish for the big finish.
“I hope it ends like ‘Seinfeld,’” he said. “With all the main characters in jail.”
Then, Colbert launched into a brief impression of Jerry Seinfeld in his Wednesday night monologue:

  3. I have a Zoom meeting that may take me up to 1:00… hopefully, I can see the hearing.
    If not… there’s always MSNBC’s recap tonight.

  4. https://www.cnn.com/2022/10/12/opinions/sasse-president-university-florida-perry/index.html

“Last March, Florida’s Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis signed a bill that exempted the names of applicants for the presidencies of Florida public universities and colleges from disclosure under public record laws.”

“Last week, the search committee for the next president of the University of Florida named Republican Sen. Ben Sasse of Nebraska the sole finalist for the position.”

“By claiming colleges and universities indoctrinate students in liberal ideology and silence conservatives (they don’t), politicians like DeSantis and wealthy conservative donors are trying to take over hiring, firing and course curriculum in ways that would allow them to indoctrinate students in conservative ideology and silence educators. The secretive selection of Sasse to lead the University of Florida plays right into this disturbing trend.”

“He [Sasse] received his doctorate from Yale in 2004 with a thesis on the rise of the Christian religious right in the US, worked for former President George W. Bush’s administration and then, after a short period teaching and consulting, became president of then-tiny Midland Lutheran College in Nebraska (now Midland University, with 1,600 students enrolled) for a few years before running for the Senate.”

  5. Sturg – Thanks for posting KO!  It’s good to have him on the trail, again. I’ll have to go find it, but I need reminders.

  6. In other news ………….. Alaska has canceled the King and Snow crab season . The populations crashed after warmer waters invaded the Bering Sea 4 years ago .
It seems the “Deadliest Catch” is really dead.

  7. So the jury in the Marjorie Stoneman Douglass killings recommended life without parole.  The state wanted the death penalty.

  8. As Congress goes , this is a great moment  for them .
No  group  has ever done a better job making a case.  And no one has ever mustered a better closing argument.

  9. A guess is that someone that has spent a lifetime in criminal activity is going to have a blood pressure issue today. (hmm, good thing for a fortune cookie)

  10. 62-61  that was the what the courts said . He lost in court 61 times all across the country.
The idea of “checks and balances” is still at work today.
As a boy , I thought this was such an abstract idea.
Now as an old man , the genius of our founders is crystal clear.

  11. Quite a day for the Commission with the subpoena of Trump and the possible referral for prosecution of members of the FBI

  12. My big takeaway from hearing: Advance Secret Service, FBI intelligence about Capitol Hill violence seems like more than an inadvertent security failure. Not just dropping the ball, more like intentional grounding. Stunning revelations today about Secret Service and FBI failure to act on specific threats.

This is disturbing. Internal FBI email reveals “sizable percentage of FBI workforce was sympathetic to Jan 6 Rioters

  13. Today is the 715th ann.  of “Friday the 13th”.  The day the King of France smashed the Knights Templar. The inventors of modern banking.  He was in coots with the Pope at the time.  He wanted the Templars  loot, the Pope wanted the Cathars crushed.
So the King  got the nastiest nobel in France to clean them out .  A few thousand  at most.  But in the mountains on the border of Spain.

This guy by all accounts , built the largest treblocet ever .  He named it , ” Bad Neighbor “.
He killed every  Cathar . This was the last Crusade ever sactioned by a Pope.
This is why we have that Church/State  thing.

  14. CC –
A long  with the sorry defense of the building. It all feeds into larger questions.
That rot is the next  untold story .  The SS needs to be opened up . And they need a new name .

  15. It may be too early for fortune telling of the group that used to be the U.S. supreme court, but, with a nine to zero vote to tell SFB to stuff it, something is going on.  Or maybe, not going on.  I expected at least two votes for the moron, but a zero.  Maybe someone sent anonymous postcards (perhaps from 37188) saying watch out, President Biden is planning on adding four more of y’all if you don’t start acting better in the sandbox.

  16. Well ,  everyone  needs to get up and vote .
The fate  of the planet , women’s bodies,  our republic, and so much more are on the line.

I think we all sense this  in our bones.
This will  be the  a midterm  that seals our fate.

  17. In a bit of “do what?” from the CNN article posted by Poobah, Dumbass’s attorneys wrote in their brief:

Raymond Dearie, the senior US judge appointed as special master, will be “substantially impaired” by the appeals court order and that it will slow “ongoing time-sensitive work,”

Apparently the Dumbass legal team does not have a clue who their client is and what his litigation strategy is in every fucking case he is in – delay the sucker until it goes away.

  18. Blink –
There is no friction  in space , NASA thought it would alter the orbit by a factor of 10 , it was 30.

    That is in mins.
Then you pissed  on NASA .
I would  like to be  your friend , if you just gave up on blind bitter.

  19. So I’m watching coverage of the J6 stuff from today – watching Chuck and Nancy on J6 – Chuck uses a flip phone – just saying.
