Wolf Cries Dog and other Tales from the Edge

During the darkest days in his country, Igor Novikov (see video below) can find light. Yesterday on MSNBC’s Deadline White House he ended his daily check-in with Nicole Wallace on an upbeat note. Seems a Ukranian woman concerned about what she perceived as an injured dog abandoned by the war caught it bare-handed and took it to the vet. Story goes on it turned out to be a wolf. Igor delighted in the idea of the compassionate but tough vision of a strong Ukrainian woman.

Note:
BTW, the wolf is a coyote and it’s an American woman in a similar tale I discovered online, but it’s still moving to hear humor and positivity in the midst of war.

Death –I am an organized system of atoms created in the belly of stars long gone.  I am headed back to that same pool of atoms.  I find great comfort in that.  To realize that over Billions of years they all came together to produce me , and understand that  is a great gift. It is Big Medicine

    I like it. Thanks Bob.

  8. So I wonder what GWB thinks about what he saw when he gazed into Putin’s eyes and thought he saw his soul 21 years ago. Maybe he’s reconsidering what it was he saw?

  9. neighborly bravery daring the bear.  how will putin respond, more bombs or bombast?

    CNN:

Leaders from three European countries will travel to Kyiv to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Ukrainian Prime Minister Denis Shmyhal on Tuesday, according to the Polish government.

In a statement Tuesday, the Polish Prime Minister’s office said Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki, deputy Prime Minister Jarosław Kaczyński, Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala and Slovenian Prime Minister Janez Janša would visit the Ukrainian capital as representatives of the European Council.

“The visit is organized in consultation with the President of the European Council Charles Michel and the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen,” the statement said.
“The purpose of the visit is to confirm the unequivocal support of the entire European Union for the sovereignty and independence of Ukraine. The aim of this visit is also to present a broad package of support for Ukraine and Ukrainians.”

    weld all the clocks.”

    the hill:

The Senate on Tuesday approved a proposal to make Daylight Saving Time permanent, which if passed in the House and signed by President Biden, would mean Americans would never again have to set their clocks back an hour and lose an hour of afternoon daylight in the fall and winter.
If enacted into law, it would also mean that early risers lose an hour of daylight in the mornings in November, December, January and February.
    […]
The proposal would not take effect until Nov. 20, 2023, to give airlines and other transportation industries more time to adjust to the change.
Marco Rubio (R-Fla.), the lead sponsor of the proposal, touted an array of benefits to making Daylight Saving Time permanent — from reduced season affective disorder in the late fall and early winter to more daylight for school sports.
“There’s strong science behind it that is now showing and making people aware of the harm that clock switching has, there’s an increase in heart attacks, car accidents and pedestrian accidents,” he said on the Senate floor.
“The benefits of Daylight Savings Time has been accounted for in the research: Reduced crime as there is light later in the day, decrease in seasonal depression that many feel during standard time and the practical one,” he added.
Rubio said it would also give school kids more time to play in the daylight after school.

“In a country we desperately want our kids outside, playing, doing sports, not just to sit in front of a TV playing video games all day. It gets tough in many parts of the country to be able to do that. What ends up happening is for the 16 weeks of the year, if you don’t have a park or outdoor facility with lights, you’re basically shut down at 5 p.m., in some cases 4 p.m.,” he said.
Rubio urged the House to quickly take up the measure and pass it.
He also noted that it would not take effect until next year.
“I think it is important to delay it until Nov. 20, 2023, because airlines and other transportation has built out a schedule and they asked for a few months to make the adjustment,” he said.

kinda hard on those of us in the western part of each time zone. but, heck, we’re mostly fly-over country anyway. so who cares 🙁

  11. Remember back in the old spy novel days when “sanction” meant assassinate?   As in this month’s Book of the Month:  THE EIGER SANCTION.

  12. This type of situation is why we didn’t want a narcissistic man-child with his “finger on the button”

    Hopefully Putin just drops dead

“…Zelensky has wanted in supplying fighter jets and imposing a no-fly zone over the country. Those two things are likely to be among the things the Ukrainian leader asks for in Wednesday’s speech, but the administration has ruled them out over concerns of how Putin would interpret those moves.”

Pootin will interpret anything he wants in any way useful to him.

Pootin will not stop at Ukraine and nukes are not off the table for him now. He’s deranged. Only someone close to him can save the world by ridding the world of him.

Well, we are on the same page in hoping he drops dead. I, however, do not care how it happens, only that it is soon.

  14. i don’t know that any Putin subordinates would be any more reasonable than him should the unexpected happen.  Maybe less, who knows?

There are no easy answers or quick fixes

  15. Economic sanctions will have Russians eating each other alive in a few weeks.

If Ukraine wins this war, they’ll be a world-leader and the moral authority of Europe in a generation🤞

  16. That someone would even suggest Ukraine might win means Putin is losing, and yes, at terrible cost to millions of refugees and innocents actively being targeted by Russian rockets

Speaking of, “the rocket” is turning out to be one of mankind’s worst inventions, eh?  Thanks, Goddard😒

  17. ok, i’d say “slava Ukraine”, but that’s for Ukrainians, so just “stop the war”✌️🇺🇦

  18. https://www.cnn.com/2022/03/15/health/covid-rising-uk-us/index.html

“…cases are rising as fast as they were falling just two weeks earlier, when the country removed pandemic-related restrictions.”

“BA.2 has been growing steadily in the US. Last week, the CDC estimated it was causing about 12% of new Covid-19 cases here.”

“Meanwhile, BA.2 now accounts for more than 50% of cases in the UK and several other European countries.”
