    Comedian Sarah Cooper says her TikTok videos have allowed her to get inside the president’s head.
    The writer and actress, famous for her short videos where she lip-syncs to excerpts of Donald Trump’s speeches, interviews and press briefings, has learned what the man in charge enjoys or hates talking about.   
    “Any time he had to talk about grief, or loss of life, he stumbled. He’s not comfortable with empathy,” the TikTok star said in an interview with Vanity Fair. “He’s not comfortable with grief. He’s not comfortable with anything that makes him feel bad or look bad.”
    The New York resident, who has amassed 1.9 million Twitter followers including Jerry Seinfeld, Henry Winkler, Trevor Noah, Ava DuVernay and more, told the outlet that her viewers include a mix of people. There are people who aren’t the 45th president’s biggest fans, but then there are also those who fervidly support the reality TV-star turned president of the United States, possibly including Trump himself, Cooper suspects. 
    While it seems the comedian mocks almost all of the president’s speeches and interview, from his claims of acing a cognitive test to his priorities for a second term, she revealed that she holds back on others. Cooper said she draws the line at the president’s harsh words, noting that she would never lip-sync or parody comments that to her seem “just evil.” 
    He messed up several words at a Memorial Day speech and people were like, ‘You should do that!’ But no. It’s still a sacred day,” she told Vanity Fair. 
    Cooper said while quarantine boredom and lip-syncs shot her up to TikTok fame, she’s ultimately looking forward to creating her own material. She told the magazine that she’s working on a show about “an overly confident boss who ‘fucks up all over the place and still somehow fails up.'”

    Listen to how Trump put it: “I’m going to do something — that, I can tell you. Because we’re not going to let New York and Chicago and Philadelphia and Detroit and Baltimore and all of these — Oakland is a mess. We’re not going to let this happen in our country.”
    These cities, Trump stressed, are “all run by very liberal Democrats. All run, really, by radical left. If Biden got in, that would be true for the country. The whole country would go to hell. And we’re not going to let it go to hell.”
    This is coming so straight from the Middle East Dictator’s Handbook, it’s chilling. In Syria, al-Assad used plainclothes, pro-regime thugs, known as the shabiha (“the apparitions”) to make protesters disappear. In Portland, Ore., we saw militarized federal forces wearing battle fatigues, but no identifiable markings, arresting people and putting them into unmarked vans. How can this happen in America?
    Authoritarian populists — whether Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Turkey, Jair Bolsonaro in Brazil, Rodrigo Duterte in the Philippines, Vladimir Putin in Russia, Viktor Orban in Hungary, Jaroslaw Kaczynski in Poland, or al-Assad — “win by dividing the people and presenting themselves as the savior of the good and ordinary citizens against the undeserving agents of subversion and ‘cultural pollution,’” explained Stanford’s Larry Diamond, author of “Ill Winds: Saving Democracy From Russian Rage, Chinese Ambition, and American Complacency.”

    Today’s protesters need to trump Trump by taking a page from another foreign leader — a liberal — Ekrem Imamoglu, who managed to win the 2019 election to become the mayor of Istanbul, despite the illiberal Erdogan using every dirty trick possible to steal the election. Imamoglu’s campaign strategy was called “radical love.”
    Radical love meant reaching out to the more traditional and religious Erdogan supporters, listening to them, showing them respect and making clear that they were not “the enemy” — that Erdogan was the enemy, because he was the enemy of unity and mutual respect, and there could be no progress without them.
    As a recent essay on Imamoglu’s strategy in The Journal of Democracy noted, he overcame Erdogan with a “message of inclusiveness, an attitude of respect toward [Erdogan] supporters, and a focus on bread-and-butter issues that could unite voters across opposing political camps. On June 23, Imamoglu was again elected mayor of Istanbul, but this time with more than 54 percent of the vote — the largest mandate obtained by an Istanbul mayor since 1984 — against 45 percent for his opponent.”
    Radical love. Wow. I bet that could work in America, too. It’s the perfect answer to Trump’s politics of division — and it’s the one strategy he’ll never imitate.

    July 22 (UPI) — A magnitude-7.8 earthquake struck off the Alaskan coast, officials said, initiating a tsunami warning that was later canceled.
    The U.S. Geological Survey said the temblor struck at 10:12 p.m. local time Tuesday at about 65 miles south-southeast of Perryville, Alaska, at a depth of 17 miles.
    A tsunami warning was issued by the National Weather Service for South Alaska and the Alaska Peninsula along the Pacific coast from Kennedy Entrance to Unimak Pass but was later called off.
    “A tsunami was generated by this event, but no longer poses a threat,” the National Weather Service said in an update. “Some areas may continue to see small sea-level changes.”
    The temblor was initially categorized as a 7.4 magnitude but was later upgraded to a magnitude 7.8 temblor.

    Former President Obama and former Vice President Joe Biden recently took part in a socially distanced conversation to discuss Biden’s presidential bid and the future of the U.S. amid the coronavirus pandemic.
    Video of the conversation, which will be released in its entirety on Thursday, shows the former president and vice president arriving in masks for a sitdown conversation and talking about how the Trump administration has handled the COVID-19 outbreak.
    “Can you imagine standing up when you were president and saying ‘it’s not my responsibility. I take no responsibility.’ Literally. Literally,” Biden said in a preview of the conversation released by his campaign, taking an apparent dig at President Trump.
    “Those words didn’t come out of our mouths when we were in office,” Obama responded.
    “No. I don’t understand his inability to get a sense of what people are going through,” Biden said. “He can’t relate in any way.”
    “Well, and one of the things I have always known about you Joe, it’s the reason I wanted you to be my vice president, and the reason why you were so effective … it all starts with being able to relate,” Obama said.

[murmur laughter] It was his wishing good will an alleged children sex trafficker that took the West Wing by surprise. [chuckles] Way to go big guy. [roaring laughter]  This premier, or pilot, for season two of the Imbecile Speaks was much shorter than predicted.  Perhaps the next episode will change that. [applause]

I pass many attempts at humor concerning the pres on twitter, but when she came up by scrolling I watched it and then moved along.   But then, as things sometime happen, I went back to it; something had caught my attention.  Watched it a few times and followed her account.  Then I watched her progress as she began to light up the twitter world, hoping that she is a good person and that she’d be able to handle it all well. 
    Job well done, Ms Cooper.

  11. LMAO at the Comedian in Chief.  I am actually in awe of her ability to lip sync the unintelligible blatherer.  I thought it was just short of brilliant.  
     
    I am just astounded at the DHS cops and the fact that as Claire McCaskill pointed out on MoJo this morning, the acting chief, who has not been vetted or approved by the Senate, who has no military or law enforcement background, is dressing up DHS police as soldiers and sending them into our cities to go to war with Americans using the subterfuge that there’s a federal building in the area. And there stands Lardius, taking responsibility for this attack on Americans who are mostly peacefully protesting ans supporting the BLM movement. Absolutely, positively unacceptable.

    The comment quickly sparked outrage on social media and inside the Department of Justice. Roy (R-Texas), among the most conservative members of the GOP, slammed the president’s kid-gloves treatment of a woman charged with grooming young girls into a circle of sexual abuse.
    “This is unacceptably obtuse for a woman accused of the most morally depraved of crimes, @realDonaldTrump,” Roy wrote on Twitter. “She needs to be severely punished… and justice must be served for the girls she abused. For ALL involved.”

    CHICAGO — Federal agents will be deployed to Chicago for an anti-violence operation that is expected to bolster existing law enforcement efforts but won’t resemble the same heavy-handed tactics seen recently in Portland, Ore., Mayor Lori Lightfoot and a federal prosecutor in Chicago said Tuesday.

    Although details on how many agents will be deployed to the city and when remain unclear, several state and local officials signaled their wariness at federal intervention ordered by President Trump, who frequently disparages Chicago and politicizes its gun violence epidemic.

    Aggressive tactics used by federal agents to arrest protesters in Portland amid civil unrest have only deepened suspicions among Chicagoans that Trump will do whatever he can to project the image of a law-and-order president, even if it pushes the boundaries of civil liberties.

    “We welcome actual partnership, but we do not welcome dictatorship,” Lightfoot (D) said during a news conference Tuesday. “We do not welcome authoritarianism, and we do not welcome the unconstitutional arrests and detainments of our residents, and that is something I will not tolerate.”

    Lightfoot sent Trump a letter on Monday specifying areas where the city would welcome federal support, such as drug enforcement and tracing efforts for illegal firearms. After conferring on Tuesday with John R. Lausch Jr., the U.S. attorney for the Northern District of Illinois, the mayor said the city could expect agents from various federal agencies — including the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives — to be “plugged into existing agencies that will help manage and suppress” street violence.

    Yet despite assurances that federal agents would be guided by the Justice Department and work in coordination with Lausch, few of Chicago’s leaders said they felt they could rely on plans crafted by an administration whose signature is unpredictability.

  27. About the feds, working with big city cops to reduce crime. It started here in Kansas City, Nobody can answer my basic question. Is this more or are we taking the same people and giving them a new snazzy name. Total silence so far.  The Feds and KCMO police have been working together for some time. There was an escalation during the last 2 years of the Obama admin. Feds busted the kid across the street, he was playing gang banger and another  group retaliated and shot up his house multiple times. Poor Lloyd (who lives next door) had car repair twice. But the kid is in jail now from federal gun charges. They probably saved his life. Today the new federal task force announced a new arrest, with all kinds of fanfare. It was the same old shit, like across the street.  This is trump 101, take what is already going on, give it a new name and claim it as yours. Then listen to the idiot protesters screech

  29. Best example was in todays news. Last week 2 men, each with girlfriends and children in the car. Got into a fight because one decided the other was giving him bad looks. Both were armed one pulls a gun and shoots the other with both families looking on, *sigh*
    How do you stop that? and it isn’t the only one. Many of these people weren’t even criminals before they killed someone. What can the Feds do?

KGC – I am thinking that old age and stress (and possibly certain medications) are causing significant foliage loss on the orange dome.  SFB is running out of little, and fragile, follicles to stretch out and cover the massive brain covering of the stable genius.  At least we know it is not a massive growth of brain cells.

    Last year Randy Rainbow was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award for Best Short Form Variety Series for his show on You Tube.  He also appeared in the Stephen Sondheim 90th celebration. 

    This year naturally, he isn’t touring with his show and his recordings are made out of his home studio so if there are nominations again this year he might get another nomination.
