    On Friday, I reported on the data released from the Department of Labor’s Bureau of Labor Statistics, indicating that 2.5 million jobs were added in May. This was followed by an enthusiastic take on how the United States may be turning the corner. Despite all of the negatives, it seemed the U.S. was seeing rays of hope. The stock market, which has shot up since the initial shocks of the Covid-19 pandemic, bolted up after the report, gaining over 700 points and referred to other positive developments. 

    Unfortunately, after delving into the footnotes of the numbers, it now looks like the jobs report has been inaccurate for the last two months. BLS has admitted that government household survey takers, although they were unemployed.  

    Had the mistake been corrected, the unemployment rate would have risen to 16.1% in May. The corrected April figure would have been more than 19.5%—rather than 14.7%.
     
    The official response was that the government doesn’t correct its survey results for fear of the appearance of political manipulation.

Not being versed in white supremacist whack job conspiracy dreams I have a hard time trying to figure out what a “police scanner” is in the context of the police attack on a man.  Also, who needs a “police scanner” when surrounded by police? Even if he was carrying a radio capable of picking up radio channels used by the police, he was still with the police and could hear them talking.  If he was taking pictures of their badge numbers that is not illegal.  But, the reporters stated he was trying to talk to them to show them a picture.  Again, not illegal.  But, considering the cesspools this came from, Russian and SFB, they could have substituted “mind scanner” and it still would not make sense.

Did you see other officers immediately render aid after he was on the ground bleeding?  No.  They looked at him and walked on by.   They really should do better psych tests on police officers…and maybe to log into Twitter or become prez. tRump does seem to sound more deranged as time goes on…but always remember and never forget, he’s always throwing smoke bombs to obfuscate something else and cause confusion.

The mayor’s explanation of why the occifers didn’t stop to help the man is that it is part of their training that they keep moving and “not break the line” because they’re being followed by medics whose job it is to care for “the wounded”. Probably sound training for an army advancing upon the enemy. Not so sure how it applies to an old bleeding man down on the sidewalk in Buffalo.

  16. So my doctor was right – there has been a COVID-19 spike in states that opened for Memorial Day.  His timing – less than 2 weeks – may have been off, but then again, maybe not. I haven’t tried to drill down in the open state data to see when the curve turned positive.  Stay tuned.

    As the number of new coronavirus cases continues to increase worldwide, and more than a dozen states and Puerto Rico are recording their highest averages of new cases since the pandemic began, hospitalizations in at least nine states have been on the rise since Memorial Day.

    In Texas, North and South Carolina, California, Oregon, Arkansas, Mississippi, Utah and Arizona, there are an increasing number of patients under supervised care since the holiday weekend because of coronavirus infections. The spikes generally began in the past couple weeks and in most states are trending higher.

    Datafrom states that are reporting some of their highest seven-day averages of new cases is disproving the notion that the country is seeing such a spike in cases solely because of the continued increase in testing, according to data tracked by The Washington Post.

    Many of these states that have experienced an increase in cases have also had an increase in hospitalizations, with a handful of states also nearing bed capacity. Hospitalizations nationwide are difficult to track, with states reporting hospitalization numbers in varying ways, or not at all. Even states that do report hospitalization numbers may not have always received complete data from every hospital in the state at the time of their reports.

    Texas has reported 75,616 cases since the pandemic began, and in 10 of the past 15 days, the state’s seven-day average of new cases has increased.

    As of Tuesday, it has reported two consecutive days of record-breaking coronavirus hospitalizations. The state has seen a 36 percent increase in new cases since Memorial Day, with a record 2,056 current hospitalizations as of early Tuesday afternoon. It was up from a high of 1,935 hospitalizations on Monday.

It’s when the abuser is after someone weaker!  How about these tough police folks doing that to Drew McIntyre (current WWE champion)  6’5″ and 265#??  Now that’d be an even fight.
     
    How sick are these police people who “put a knee” on someone’s neck or do a “vascular choke hold” with their arm? They actually like how that feels?  They get a kick out of it? They get their jollies from that? There definitely should be psychological testing before police (or a president) are hired.
     
    And what’s with the police unions?  My impression is that they’re all like

If I get it, I should just write DNR on my forehead.  I’ve been reading Covid-19 stories by folks who have gotten it and survived, obviously.  Grim!  And a lot more info now on folks not waking up quickly after being on a vent.  Even those who were on for a short time show neurological problems.  Now docs are thinking of giving less meds to the folks on a vent.  Just saw this.

One of the many things in life that I don’t understand : if the face mask is keeping me from spreading my droplets isn’t that mask also keeping out, or helping to keep out,  other people’s droplets from my nose & mouth?  If true, why don’t the talking heads talk about people saving themselves?  Seems folks’d be more prone to pay attention to that than if they’re told they’ll save their grandparents or strangers.

  45. Trump is holding his first rally next week on Juneteenth, in Tulsa OK. As OK is not a swing state I have to assume this was done on purpose. BTW last week was the 99 anniversary of the Tulsa Massacre, where in excess of 300 African Americans were killed. The true number is in doubt. But is was the single worst incident of violence on African Americans. 
    So, I’m assuming hoods and torches will be encouraged.
