Happy Easter. I’ve been watching church on TV since 6am.
As the Lenten season ends, my candy stupor begins. I miss those hard, marshmallow bunnies and chicks (kind of like circus peanuts). Your favorites?

Thinking about the homemade candy Easter eggs my mother would make for us. She got the recipe off the back of a Jell-O pudding box in the ’60s. Coconut Cream for Dad, Chocolate for sister, butterscotch for brother & me. Hand dipped in chocolate; each decorated on top with pink & yellow frosting. Both she & Dad are gone now, but the sweet memories live on. The river of life.

But the good news for Hillary is that Bernie doesn’t have another good day left on the calendar. In fact she now holds leads in every mathematically meaningful remaining state in the contest.
Next up is Wisconsin, which some pundits had expected to be favorable to Sanders. But the latest polling says that Clinton now holds a six point lead in the state (source). While that contest may end up being a close call, most of the other renaming big states won’t be. Clinton holds an average 34.5 point lead in the delegate-rich state of New York. Americans who want single-payer, a higher minimum wage, education, good jobs (not being sent overseas or over the border), and, an energy policy that protects our environment. Bernie is the only candidate who has consistently held those positions.

I’m hoping Elizabeth Warren will be a bridge between the two Democratic camps. My goodness, women rule this year. Think of their influence in politics, media …. women this year have earned what they have achieved. The playing field will never be level, but it’s a lot less bumpy. Wow.
And I’m giving a shout out to Betty Ford too. I was at that impressionable age when she was First Lady. Her support of ERA made a huge impact in my life. She was not afraid to take a stand. Brave lady.

I have to echo what Tony said. I have seen absolutely nothing negative from either Hillary or her campaign reps that says anything negative about Bernie’s supporters. In fact, she has been unfailingly courteous to questioners as long as they weren’t rude as well as supporting many of their issues.

I usually hate it when pundits try to play peacemaker, lamenting divisiveness and partisanship when there may be very good reasons for such behaviors to exist. But when it comes to the Democratic primaries, which I’m observing with no particular sense of attachment, I think things have taken an unnecessarily ugly turn lately. Yes, supporters and surrogates of both candidates have said stupid things. Hillary would do herself a favor by avoiding going negative on Bernie and his supporters, which only backfires (as some of her more prominent defenders demonstrated spectacularly over the weekend). I question some aspects of Hillary’s record, but she doesn’t deserve the outright demonization coming from some quarters of the left.
Let’s not lose sight of the big picture. Ted Cruz is my senator, okay? We’re bickering over two pretty acceptable candidates while the political equivalent of the bubonic plague is threatening to descend on the United States.

The talking head shows have always been pro-Republican, Trump is a Republican, so are the Koch Bros traveling circus called the Tea Party. They are all Republicans. As the talking head shows are owned by the big three corporations, they call the shots on who to promote. Loud mouths first apparently. Two R’s to one D. Today’s WashPo has a column by Nader, which reminds me that I had not mentioned his name in a few months. We can now retire Nader’s name for another few months.

Of even more interest to nature lovers are the Bald Eagle eaglets. One week old and they are growing fast. Mom and Dad are constantly stacking more sticks and straw around the nest to make it taller. The little ones are going to be medium ones before long. Mom and Dad won’t fit over them. I can just imagine Dad building a little addition to the nest to shove the kids into so they can enjoy a little sleep without getting kicked or chomped on in the tummy.

Today I did really object to Bernie’s constant reference to the Clooney fundraiser as if it indicated some sort of moral failing by Hillary. What he didn’t mention is that the real beneficiaries were the DNC and 32 State Parties to use for down ticket races to elect Democrats to Congress.
Hillary has raised over 18 million for those races up till now and the Clooney bash means even more. President has a whole lot of trouble getting things done without the backing of the House & Senate as we have seen for the past seven years.
Jamie, since he really isn’t a fulltime democrat (still some bio sites id-ing him as independent) he probably doesn’t care about the down ticket folks. guess temporarily leasing the party name doesn’t mean he has to pledge 100% party loyalty. new kind of politician, the time share condo candidate.

The most amazing thing about the Sanders ads here in Missouri was how white they were. Real pasty white, no ethnics at all not even someone with a sun tan. Even the Republicans don’t look that white. I’m hoping Elizabeth Warren will be a bridge between the two Democratic camps. My goodness, women rule this year. Think of their influence in politics, media …. women this year have earned what they have achieved. The playing field will never be level, but it’s a lot less bumpy. Wow.
And I’m giving a shout out to Betty Ford too. I was at that impressionable age when she was First Lady. Her support of ERA made a huge impact in my life. She was not afraid to take a stand. Brave lady.

I have to echo what Tony said. I have seen absolutely nothing negative from either Hillary or her campaign reps that says anything negative about Bernie’s supporters. In fact, she has been unfailingly courteous to questioners as long as they weren’t rude as well as supporting many of their issues.

I usually hate it when pundits try to play peacemaker, lamenting divisiveness and partisanship when there may be very good reasons for such behaviors to exist. But when it comes to the Democratic primaries, which I’m observing with no particular sense of attachment, I think things have taken an unnecessarily ugly turn lately. Yes, supporters and surrogates of both candidates have said stupid things. Hillary would do herself a favor by avoiding going negative on Bernie and his supporters, which only backfires (as some of her more prominent defenders demonstrated spectacularly over the weekend). I question some aspects of Hillary’s record, but she doesn’t deserve the outright demonization coming from some quarters of the left.
Let’s not lose sight of the big picture. Ted Cruz is my senator, okay? We’re bickering over two pretty acceptable candidates while the political equivalent of the bubonic plague is threatening to descend on the United States.

The talking head shows have always been pro-Republican, Trump is a Republican, so are the Koch Bros traveling circus called the Tea Party. They are all Republicans. As the talking head shows are owned by the big three corporations, they call the shots on who to promote. Loud mouths first apparently. Two R’s to one D. Today’s WashPo has a column by Nader, which reminds me that I had not mentioned his name in a few months. We can now retire Nader’s name for another few months.
It must be Robin Red Breast mating time around the peninsula. They are doing communal bathing and splashing in my little pond and then flying off at high speeds in pairs. I sort of remember those days.
Of even more interest to nature lovers are the Bald Eagle eaglets. One week old and they are growing fast. Mom and Dad are constantly stacking more sticks and straw around the nest to make it taller. The little ones are going to be medium ones before long. Mom and Dad won’t fit over them. I can just imagine Dad building a little addition to the nest to shove the kids into so they can enjoy a little sleep without getting kicked or chomped on in the tummy.

I see more of the HRC supporters saying the “we have 2 qualified candidates” knowing of course that they are doing the faux magnanimous strut. which probably irritates the hell out of the ultra serious sanderite. Those lefties they got no sense of humor.

I was going to say that it would just draw the fire of the bernie supporters but I see Blue iD has already covered that one. >chuckle<
But it is a good idea as there are several states coming up where she will find the Republicans are competitive and she needs to look like she can do the job. Besides the white lefties for the most part are in bernies camp so why waste time and risk doing yourself more harm in the end. She has emphasized the left wing attributes about as much as she can and still get elected.

Today I did really object to Bernie’s constant reference to the Clooney fundraiser as if it indicated some sort of moral failing by Hillary. What he didn’t mention is that the real beneficiaries were the DNC and 32 State Parties to use for down ticket races to elect Democrats to Congress.
Hillary has raised over 18 million for those races up till now and the Clooney bash means even more. President has a whole lot of trouble getting things done without the backing of the House & Senate as we have seen for the past seven years.
Jamie, since he really isn’t a fulltime democrat (still some bio sites id-ing him as independent) he probably doesn’t care about the down ticket folks. guess temporarily leasing the party name doesn’t mean he has to pledge 100% party loyalty. new kind of politician, the time share condo candidate.

Looking back, Hillary has gotten 2.5M more votes than Bernie.
Looking forward, Bernie better appeal to folks of color in big states if his prediction about winning are to come to pass.

The most amazing thing about the Sanders ads here in Missouri was how white they were. Real pasty white, no ethnics at all not even someone with a sun tan. Even the Republicans don’t look that white. It may be the fact that he is from Vermont and doesn’t understand how diverse the rest of us are. I know Mrs Jack who does marketing for an architect and engineering firm based in Omaha NE, is always having problems with her artists from Omaha understanding what diversity is like in places like San Francisco.

The republican party and their current presidential candidates are the best recruiting tool ISIS has. Why would they want to attack the convention? Just let the jingoism and the bigotry roll on and reap the rewards.

Probably you are right. Given what has happened with the republican party, we have moved beyond satire to full blown tragedy. It would be worthy of Shakespeare, but even his characters had some redeeming qualities. Republican presidential candidates; not so much.

jack & jace, they fantasize guns are an easier way to fight off the protesters, shooting them instead of the chore of wrestling them to the ground or striking with fists which may hurt too much…. remember most of these folk are old men.
that talk of bombs is probably a pr ploy cooked up by cnn/faux news to make sure of higher tv ratings during convention.
