Fake the Oath

“But I don’t want to go among mad people," Alice remarked. "Oh, you can’t help that," said the Cat: "we’re all mad here. I’m mad. You’re mad." "How do you know I’m mad?" said Alice. "You must be," said the Cat, "or you wouldn’t have come here.” ― Lewis Carroll, Alice in Wonderland

  1. wiki:

The oath of office of the president of the United States is the oath or affirmation that the president of the United States takes upon assuming office. The wording of the oath is specified in Article II, Section One, Clause 8, of the United States Constitution, and a new president is required to take it before exercising or carrying out any official powers or duties.
This clause is one of three oath or affirmation clauses in the Constitution, but it is the only one that actually specifies the words that must be spoken.
    […]
“I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.”

After having taken the Oath twice (Jan 20 2017 and 2025), one would think he would remember it but….

WASHINGTON—President Trump said he was uncertain whether he was duty bound to uphold the Constitution, saying in a television interview aired Sunday that was a question better posed to his lawyers.
Trump was asked whether noncitizens are entitled to due process, which the Fifth Amendment requires before any person within the U.S. may “be deprived of life, liberty, or property.”
“I don’t know. I’m not, I’m not a lawyer. I don’t know,” Trump told interviewer Kristen Welker on the NBC News program, “Meet the Press.” While the Fifth Amendment “might say that,” Trump said compliance would require “a million or two million or three million trials” before undesirable immigrants could be removed.
“I was elected to get them the hell out of here, and the courts are holding me from doing it,” Trump said.
“Don’t you need to uphold the Constitution of the United States as president?” Welker asked.
“I don’t know. I have to respond by saying, again, I have brilliant lawyers that work for me, and they are going to obviously follow what the Supreme Court said,” Trump said.
    […]
“A president who doubts his most fundamental duty—his sworn oath to the Constitution—is unfit for the office,” said Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D., Conn.). “Defiance of the law is becoming this administration’s hallmark, threatening irreparable damage.”

Welker then pressed Trump on whether he, as president, needs to abide by the Constitution and the rights it provides to people in the U.S.
“I don’t know,” Trump said. “I have to respond by saying, again, I have brilliant lawyers that work for me, and they are going to obviously follow what the Supreme Court said. What you said is not what I heard the Supreme Court said. They have a different interpretation.”

  3. The rapid cratering of sfb continues. Every day will be a steeper dive into a hole. Bring back Alcatraz he dictates. Yeah right. He wants a room with a view? He has no idea what the place is, where it is and actually what it is. Maybe he was watching a Jimmy Cagney movie.

Make a bigly tariff on foreign movies is another looney dictate. Is a movie being made in Georgia and parts of Scotland a foreign movie. What about people using a VPN to watch a movie in Germany? Bonkers stuff there.

I can hardly wait for today’s idiocy. Just for sfb – Feliz cinco de mayo! That should make his racist little brain tingle a bit.

  4. BB, it was a wild weekend of feces-slinging to keep us “entertained” and our eyes diverted. The Pope, Alcatraz, the doll babies, the birthday parade…Like clowns at the rodeo while the bull gores the fallen cowboy. Too bad we can’t just ignore him. We will take it all in but keep our eyes on the main event.

  5. Memorial to victims of gun violence taken down at ATF headquarters

The “Faces of Gun Violence” memorial was installed at ATF in 2024 to remind the workforce of the human toll.

Brenda Haymon Joiner, a gun-control advocate whose slain father’s portrait was included in the memorial, said she saw its dismantling as a sign of the new administration’s priorities. “I think of him daily,” Haymon Joiner, who works at the advocacy group Brady United, said of her father, Robert Godwin. “And I was proud to know that his photo at the ATF was a reminder to the agency of who they’re fighting for. Now, for all I know, his photo is sitting at the bottom of a trash can. The ATF used to be an agency dedicated to fighting for people. Now, it’s crystal clear that its mandate has become fighting on behalf of gun industry profits.”

The portraits were removed at a time of uncertainty for ATF. Trump has not nominated a permanent director for the agency. He tapped FBI Director Kash Patel to serve as interim director as he also led the FBI, but Patel was soon replaced by Army Secretary Dan Driscoll. The White House wants to slash the agency’s approximately $1.5 billion annual budget by about a third, or nearly $500 million, according to budget documents released Friday. The proposal appears to cut much of the regulatory arm of ATF while saying it would leave resources for gun tracing and investigating gun traffickers. But more modest cuts in the past have forced cuts to ATF law enforcement, and if the agency loses a third of its budget, it would probably lead to law enforcement reductions.

  9. So SFB wants to reopen Alcatraz – what an idiot.

There are several reasons that Alcatraz closed as a penitentiary in 1963. The penitentiary cost much more to operate than other prisons (nearly $10 per prisoner per day, as opposed to $3 per prisoner per day at Atlanta).[34] Half a century of salt water saturation had severely eroded the buildings …

  10. GOP amps up Trump impeachment talk in midterm battle as party leaders woo Kemp for Senate: Even though Democratic leaders are wary of a third impeachment vote, the topic has become a prominent discussion in GOP ranks, with Trump eager to avoid another all-consuming showdown with an emboldened Democratic majority and Republican leaders banking the talk could help drive up turnout in an election where Trump won’t be at the top of the ticket.

  11. https://www.cnn.com/2025/04/30/politics/chris-krebs-cbp-global-entry-revoked

Chris Krebs’, President Donald Trump’s former director of the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, membership in Global Entry has been revoked. Krebs, who has repeatedly attested to the security of the 2020 election, told CNN he finds it hard to believe this isn’t another act of retribution from the administration.

On Wednesday afternoon, Krebs received an email saying that his Trusted Traveler Program status had changed. He logged into the program and learned his Global Entry program membership had been revoked, he told CNN. Global Entry is the US Customs and Border Protection program that gives low-risk travelers expedited clearance when they arrive in the US.

Krebs, a Republican appointee in his first term, received bipartisan praise for telling the truth about the 2020 election, which aroused the ire of Trump, whose lies about the election led to the January 6, 2021, attack on the Capitol. On April 9, Trump signed an executive order instructing his government to punish Krebs in various ways, including ordering the attorney general to investigate him, though there is no evidence he has committed any crime.

*Does that mean a US citizen could potentially be refused re-entry into the US, or that it’s just going to be a pain to get back in?

President Donald Trump’s trade war is sending construction costs up, and interest rates are likely staying high this year.

Not a good sign for recovery.

Shares of entertainment companies including Disney, Netflix, Warner Bros. Discovery and Paramount Global took a hit Monday as investors assessed Hollywood’s potential exposure to President Trump’s as-yet undefined vow to impose a 100% tariff on foreign-produced films.

Trump said he is authorizing the Commerce Department and the U.S. Trade Representative to “immediately begin the process of instituting a 100% Tariff on any and all Movies coming into our Country that are produced in Foreign Lands.”

On Monday morning, White House spokesman Kush Desai said in a statement, “Although no final decisions on foreign film tariffs have been made, the Administration is exploring all options to deliver on President Trump’s directive to safeguard our country’s national and economic security while Making Hollywood Great Again.”

Rep. Mike Lawler, R-N.Y., faced another hostile crowd at a town hall as attendees broke out into boos and jeers and a constituent was forcibly removed by police.

The swing district congressman was pressed on May 4 over President Donald Trump’s tariffs, deportations, spending cuts and other issues as he addressed 600 people at the Kennedy Catholic Preparatory School in Somers, New York, The Journal News reported.

“Bipartisan sounds nice, but meaningful bipartisanship is in votes taken, not in the fig-leaf of co-sponsored bills,” one attendee told Lawler. “Now is your time to stand up to the authoritarian Trump regime.”

At one point during the town hall, police surrounded a woman in the crowd and she told them, “I’m not leaving,” according to footage from ABC News. People around her began chanting, “Let her stay!” and she was eventually carried out of the event by police.

It was not clear why she was removed.

*But it looked like they were carrying out a frail senior citizen. Not a good look for anyone, Republicans.

  16. the moron doesn’t understand streaming because he’s old and out of touch

  17. ofc our anti-elitist dumb friends and families elected the most elitist ***********r ever, he’d step over every one of them in the street

  18. I have three separate-but-equal social groups, ie., groupings of friends who do not know the others. In each of them, there is organizing, sign-making, and marching, and all are gearing up for more demonstrations and protests. Old people getting feisty. I was never a marcher during the 70s but I may end up being one in my 70s.

  19. does this fucking moron want more children to study animation to supplant the Vietnamese animation market?

i thought these people hated kids drawing and the arts

Or is our economic policy being driven by the ignorant whims of an idiot?

  20. OK, I’ve called Republican Senators to vote no on Adolf’s pick for SSA. There’s a rally at the swamp in DC tonight. Wish I lived there to go to these things. If you are so inclined to make calls: 202-224-3121

  21. Yep, and Adolf didn’t put up that “A-One” image of himself as Pope, either. He’s either surrounded by yes-men, or he has idiots coming up with these things on their own. It’s probably both.

  22. lol, looked on Fandango, a movie in theaters now is an animated film called “King of Kings“ which is obviously a Christian movie, sounds good to Maga, right?

anon, only if they use more than 5 pencils (aka crayons), one of those Crayola boxes of 250 different colors which DODO abhors is just too DEI.

BTW on the 2 vs 30 doll edict, there are many a family out there who find it hard to scrap enough together to buy even one doll and now with prices going sky high might as well get out the directions on how to make a sock monkey doll. maybe name him little marco

  24. It’s not the kids collecting 30 dolls, it’s the grown-ups.

“President Donald Trump has defended and expanded on his comments about tariffs and children’s toys…”

When asked if Americans could see empty store shelves, Trump replied, “No, no, I’m not saying that. I’m just saying they don’t need to have 30. They can have three. They don’t need to. They can have five.

*Why does the voodoo doll have a heart?

  30. Mr. Ivy decided against Cinqo de Mayo cuisine tonight. We had our fair share of Mexican fare in Mexico. The stuff we eat on this side of the Gulf of Mexico can hardly be called Mexican. We’ll likely break into a bottle of the tequila we brought back. This powerful stuff is meant to drink straight, not diluted in a margarita.

  31. Remember that sfb is a cover for what the rest of the staff does that they do not want seen. How about all this garbage about Alcatraz is cover for the drunk secretary to fire twenty percent of the U.S. generals and more. CNN reporting.
