Jules Feiffer, acclaimed cartoonist and writer, dies at 95 | PBS News NEW YORK (AP) — Jules Feiffer, a Pulitzer Prize-winning cartoonist and writer whose prolific output ranged from a long-running comic strip to plays, screenplays and children’s books, died Friday. He was 95 and, true to his seemingly tireless form, published his last book just four months ago.[…]Artistically limber, Feiffer hopscotched among numerous forms of expression, chronicling the curiosity of childhood, urban angst and other societal currents. To each he brought a sharp wit and acute observations of the personal and political relations that defined his readers’ lives. As Feiffer explained to the Chicago Tribune in 2002, his work dealt with “communication and the breakdown thereof, between men and women, parents and children, a government and its citizens, and the individual not dealing so well with authority.”Feiffer won the United States’ most prominent awards in journalism and filmmaking, taking home a 1986 Pulitzer Prize for his cartoons and “Munro,” an animated short film he wrote, won a 1961 Academy Award. The Library of Congress held a retrospective of his work in 1996.“My goal is to make people think, to make them feel and, along the way, to make them smile if not laugh,” Feiffer told the South Florida Sun Sentinel in 1998. “Humor seems to me one of the best ways of espousing ideas. It gets people to listen with their guard down.”[…]“It’s hard to remember what hypocrisy looked like before Jules Feiffer sketched it,” ….[continues with nods to all… Read more »
stephen on our recent times, an age of even more hostility and hypocrisy than Feiffer could ever imagine:
On the first day of President Trump’s second term he pardoned the Jan 6 rioters, gutted America’s climate policies, raised the price of insulin and pulled out of the World Health Organization. Elsewhere, presidential advisor Elon Musk is doing damage control after making an apparent Nazi salute at Trump’s inauguration celebration.
We are on day two of another round with President Donald Trump, he has a new official portrait, they have already redecorated the Oval Office, Musk has been badgering team Trump to give him an office in the West Wing, Biden left a letter for Trump that he only discovered after a reporter pointed it out, he has signed more than a hundred executive orders and actions, he celebrated at his many inaugural balls with performances from Billy Ray Cyrus and the Village People, he got mad at church after the Bishop dared to bring the teachings of Jesus into things, and a shocking Inauguration Edition of Lie Witness News.
Police union that endorsed Trump blasts Jan. 6 pardons:
“Allowing those convicted of these crimes to be released early diminishes accountability and devalues the sacrifices made by courageous law enforcement officers and their families”
Sickening.
Former Capitol Hill.Police Sergeant Aquilino Gonell posted this on Bluesky — his call log. Each call is an automated Dept of “Justice” notification saying “The defendant you testified against is being released from the dept of corrections.”
Each defendant assaulted him.
My guess is the last time a “nasty woman” talked to him like that it was Melania telling him contract fulfilled. No more grabbing, no more mouth touching, no more anything. Just show time in front of cameras. AND, the real reason she is moved into the WH is so he can’t bring in pros, she is going to have him celibate for the next few years.

his work made us think… sometimes sigh and sometimes cry.

Even the Wall Street Journal Editorial Board is stunned: “This is a rotten message from a President about political violence done on his behalf”

Trump insults indigenous with going back on the Denali name change
Why is Denali being renamed to Mount McKinley by President Trump? – NBC Chicago
Quoting Jesus really pisses him off.
Tax all churches then
The most petty, fragile man in a world of petty, fragile men

There IS NO EQUIVALENCY between Biden forced to pardon his family from a vengeful monster and Trump pardoning cop beaters.
