  1. A friend of mine suggested that Joe resign immediately, having Kamala take over for 2 months. Making Kamala President #47 and making Trump #48 when he takes over. Thereby ruining all the #47 merchandise. Is that even possible?

  2. That is possible Corey. But wouldn’t cause the Gifter in Chief much harm. Most of his merchandise isn’t even manufactured until they get your money, which is why it takes 6 months or more to receive some items (read the fine print).

  3. “I’m mourning the country we could have been and the one we apparently are—but I refuse to give up believing that compassion is the right path, that diversity makes us better, and that love is greater than fear.” – John Pavlovitz

  4. With campaign over now we can chronicle every nuance of his daily efforts to destroy Democracy and execute Project 2025 — put a light on it, as in frog gigging.

This could be our mascot for gigging dictators.

  5. He has the Senate, so the appointments he’s planning to install must be the Steven Millers and other worst of the worst who he thinks can’t make it through his Senatorial supplicants.

  6. https://www.cnn.com/2024/11/04/business/tariffs-donald-trump-prices/index.html
“But if you don’t want to heed the many, many economists’ warnings about former President Trump’s fringe economic plans, take it from the people running the companies that make the stuff you buy: Prices will go up. How much and how fast is hard to know, but you can bet your bottom dollar you’ll be needing more dollars to pay for everyday goods if Trump’s sweeping tariffs are put in place.”
“We’re buying stuff today for delivery next fall. So we’re just going to deal with it and we’ll just raise the prices. … It’s going to be very, very difficult to keep products affordable for Americans.”

The family garden will be bigger next year, and when there’s a sale on non-perishables I will be hoarding.  I hate persimmons, but there are a dozen trees loaded with them in late summer.  We know preppers who were gearing up for a civil war; they’ll be eating those MREs for a different reason.

  7. Yep, Pogo, you got it. There are lots of ways for Senate minority to gum up confirmations, so he’ll just bypass that. And everything he gets away with will empower him to go further until Legislative Branch is just a formality. Just like Caesar.

  8. https://www.cnn.com/2024/11/06/politics/second-term-donald-trump/index.html

“America has given us an unprecedented and powerful mandate,” Trump told an ecstatic crowd in West Palm Beach, Florida, early Wednesday morning. He summed up his approach to a second term as such: “I will govern by a simple motto: Promises made, promises kept.”
Deportations? A bloodbath? Punishment for women who get an abortion?

“Even now, Trump has skirted the conventional transition process and refused to sign ethics agreements that would allow his campaign to begin working with the Biden administration on the handoff, a process that typically starts six months before the election. The holdup stems from Trump’s deep mistrust of federal agencies, certainly those not run by his own loyalists. This means his team has not had to disclose donors to his transition process but has also been blocked from national security briefings and from receiving millions of dollars in funding to aid the transition.”

“That means the staffing decisions this time around will be designed intentionally around individuals who will not work to undermine his agenda from within, an accusation Trump has made against those he fired from the White House.”

“Trump has also made clear in recent weeks, as he’s mulled potential high-level positions, that he will be fine with sidestepping Congress and the typical Cabinet confirmation process for appointees. Trump has repeatedly asked candidates if they are willing to serve as acting secretaries, believing it gives him more flexibility should he change his mind.”

  9. And with SROTUS’ approval he can keep the “actors” in place with no fear of repercussions.

  10. Seems like this a good time for Dems to revive the old midterm convention, showcase party talent and rally for the 2026 congressional races.

I remember meeting Jimmy Carter at the 1974 midterm in Kansas City. That was his soft launch for winning in ’76.

We’re the Opposition Party now. Need to get some leaders in the public eye and start fixing problems with some voter groups.

  11. bId – speaking of MREs, I bought a case for the boats.  For those times you do not dare leave the helm and need to eat.  Much better than C rations.  A full meal with everything one needs after the meal, a lot of calories 1250, for around fifteen dollars.  Cheaper if you buy the ones that are almost out of date.

  12. Some of those “problems with voters” will evaporate when Project 2025 screws over their little corner of the world.

  13. I am still shocked the intelligence community did not do leaks of the bad stuff he has done.  It could have been released in ways that would not point back to them.  Enough that maybe whomever is sfb wife would want to have him look at windows.

  14. The voter “problem” I’d like to see Dems tackle is non-college working people, white and non-white. That’s how we got our butt kicked. Trump is through the roof with them, especially in rural areas where he dramatically outperformed his own showing in the previous two elections. I always knew that was their theory of the case, that there were more non college working folks available to them. But I didn’t think there were really so many. It turns out there is an endless supply.

  15. Craig – It was unchecked, corporate greed.  How long have I been bitching about needing price controls for food and rent?  It won’t get better with Adolf at the helm, but it will get worse.  The racist and misogynistic thread is that POC and women who achieve any success are somehow “DEI hires,” and the lot in life of MAGAts is due to someone else getting something they did not.

  16. The voter “problem” I’d like to see Dems tackle

-the denial phase.  i’ve firmly progressed to “anger/fear”

the guys is so fascist he scares republicans that know what autocracy is, these people aren’t giving back power, Musk is your new overlord

Musk’s #1 target is transpeople, don’t get sick or injured LGBT people because the hospitals will turn you away just like at-risk pregnant women are being currently

Denial of service to such communities and to racial minorities will be protected

the darkness coming isn’t the kind that reveals starlight, it’s the kind you get in the fog at night

and it hasn’t even started yet

it’s time to stop lying to the vulnerable, things don’t get better from here, they get much worse

these people aren’t going to be magnanimous, they’re drooling at the opportunity to marginalize and abuse

speaking of drooling, Biden needs to flee, he governed like a ***** and now we’re all gonna pay for it

i regret my Liz Warren vote less now, because at least i was right

  17. The second tRUMPsky administration is the new cofeve.  They are not pro life.  Deportation, starvation, polio…

  18. BiD, Bink — Yep we are up against an authoritarian movement run by oligarchs that has captured half the country.

They’ve forced us into a position of defending Democracy to working class people who do not feel its institutions work for them, so the fascist “burn it all down” agenda gets their attention.

The first task for resistance is to call out and spread online every Dictator move and show how it hurts the people he claims to be representing.

  19. You can, i don’t have it in me

we just did that for 8 years, no one cares

the uneducated middle-class ain’t reading political blogs, certainly not left-of-center ones

Let them choke along side me. i’ll laugh then, not before

    “ captured half the country.”
    -correction: %75+

  20. I saw a Pew study not too long ago that the No. 1 source for news that people tend to believe are shared articles online either between friends or family by email, or on social media platforms or in comments on news sites. I’d like to make this place a bit of a hub for aggregating clips about the Trump Regime’s dictator moves that we trade and share with others.

  21. So many right-leaning movements around the world, so many billionaires pouncing on the divisiveness.  If American democracy can fall, what chance has the rest of the world?
Resistance is not futile, it’s inherently human. We will rest. We will rally. We will resist and rebuild.

  22. https://www.reuters.com/world/white-house-plans-rush-military-aid-ukraine-by-inauguration-day-politico-reports-2024-11-06/
“The White House plans to rush billions of dollars in security assistance to Ukraine before President Joe Biden leaves office in January, sources said on Wednesday, hoping to shore up the government in Kyiv before President-elect Donald Trump’s Jan. 20 inauguration.”

“The administration plans to push forward … to put Ukraine in the strongest position possible” a senior administration official said on condition of anonymity, before its term ends in January.”

  23. https://time.com/7022828/trump-travel-ban-refugees-gaza/

“Former President Donald Trump vowed to reinstate his travel ban that barred people from some predominantly Muslim countries and expand it to prevent refugees from war-torn Gaza from entering the U.S.

“I will ban refugee resettlement from terror infested areas like the Gaza Strip, and we will seal our border and bring back the travel ban,” Trump said Thursday evening in Washington at an event alongside Republican donor and billionaire Miriam Adelson.”

    https://www.rollingstone.com/politics/politics-features/trump-muslim-vote-election-michigan-1235150692/

“Once elected, he enacted a travel ban, blocking entry from several predominantly Muslim countries, including Yemen. The impact wasn’t confined to visa rejections or borders; it shook the Muslim community here at home. According to a report by the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), anti-Muslim hate incidents surged by 57 percent from 2015 to 2016, marking a sharp rise in bias across the nation. Mosque windows were shattered, racial slurs appeared on community walls overnight, and Muslim Americans found themselves marked as outsiders in the only country they called home.”

“On Oct. 5, 2024, Mayor Amer Ghalib convened a modest crowd in Hamtramck, Michigan, a densely populated enclave of metro Detroit, known as the only Muslim-majority city in America and home to a large Yemeni community. In footage live-streamed on YouTube, around 40 people gathered, some snapping selfies, others standing and chatting. Children sat with signs reading, “Yemeni Americans are with Donald Trump.”

“Wearing a red tie to match Trump’s — a nod to their alliance — Ghalib rallied the crowd, urging everyone to bring another person or two.”

“Mayor Ghalib was quick to step in. On Facebook, he wrote that Trump had privately apologized to him — though he admitted he couldn’t secure a public apology — and promised never to label Yemenis as terrorists again. Later that week, Ghalib doubled down on what he framed as a diplomatic success, posting that Trump had since only mentioned threats from South America when discussing terrorism, omitting Yemen.”

  24. Dems need to do a deep dive on what’s wrong here…

Voters without a college degree of all races:
    2008: Obama +7
    2012: Obama +4
    2016: Trump +7
    2020: Trump +2
    2024: Trump +14

Non-college graduates make up 60% of all voters.

  25. Back to our Senate confirmation discussion, also expect Trump to pressure GOP senators to scrap the filibuster if his agenda is blocked? McConnell says it “will stand”, but he won’t be the leader. And most of the GOP Senators who pushed back on Trump in his first term are gone.

  26. Hmmm, only +2 when Adolf ran in 2020 against a white man, but +7 against a white woman, and +14 against a woman of color.

Misogyny and racism, and as I said, the thread of those two things woven into everyone’s personal economy, thinking others can’t be successful without handouts; they called Harris a “DEI hire.”

I don’t think deciphering those numbers is rocket science, it’s just disappointing.

  27. What’s weird is folks like Patrick Mahomes’ mom wearing a MAGAt cap to the game.  She’s got a rich son, so she’s at least got wealth by association; her son is mixed race, as are her grandchildren…yet she supports a racist.

The kicker for the Chiefs is a misogynistic loon in Christian clothing, and I get a racist vibe from him, too, so I totally see why he’s kissing Adolf’s ass.

  28. Dems need to do a deep dive on what’s wrong here…

start by dissolving the party and calling it something else, “Democrat” is a dirty word in “half” of the country

if you really want to capture those voters

you’re not going to wise them up, so you’ll have to dumb your platform down

    and only run white men

it will be really easy for trumpco to intimidate voters, just make voting records public. You won’t even put a Kamala sign out, BiD (neither did i), don’t tell me that won’t work against people like you

it’s so over but y’all are sweet

  29. don’t you remember (maybe you didn’t watch them)  the videos I posted when Putin invaded Ukraine and it was a Russian college kid interviewing Russians on the street about their opinion on the “special military operation”?

Answers ranged from “are you trying to get us both killed??” to “wise Putin protects us” to “i leave to politics to the politicians where it belongs”

    That’s where we are headed

Like i keep saying, you’re still in denial and ignoring all the warnings we all screamed at the top of our lungs for months/years, i’m sorry

They’re gonna be exactly who you warned us they would be

i wonder what happened to that kid. i’ll bet he died on the front, maybe rotting in prison

  30. All the clever media fucks like Jon Stewart and the NYT are like “whoops”!

Jake Tapper is shocked the strongman he enabled won

  31. Josh Stein won NC by 17 and Kamala lost there by 2, they support exactly the same platform, tell me the difference between those two candidates

  32. I dunno, white Ivy League guy, black HBCU woman with similar policy positions, or am I missing something more fundamental?

  33. Did you know that lightning can strike as far as 50 miles away from a thunderstorm?
