FOX Should Retract Itself

Those darn facts get in the way again. Latest dishonest FOX reporting so egregious even they had to acknowledge it.

Yahoo News Canada — Fox News walked back a report on “an attempted terrorist attack” in the Niagara Falls vehicle explosion, a deadly crash where officials said there was “no indication” of terrorism near the U.S.-Canada border.

“What I’ve been told is that this was an attempted terrorist attack,” Fox News correspondent Alexis McAdams reported on Wednesday at 2pm ET. Sources “believe the two people in that car who are now both dead after that large explosion there have packed that car full of explosives.” Until the retraction much later the provocative chyron at the bottom of the FOX screen claimed “Explosion An Attempted Terror Attack” (Mediaite)

I watched the original coverage because as I flipped channels I saw FOX was the only one reporting this. They quickly teed up a narrative that this was Biden’s fault by allowing open borders to terrorists — and their contributors went berserk, assuming it as fact, which is the usual pattern for trashing Biden: “report” something thinly sourced, followed by outraged commentators who present it without equivocation.

It was disgraceful, even for FOX, to spread something so sinister. This wasn’t a mistake, this was another deliberate provocation of their gullible audience for profit.

It worked. Biden-hating provocateurs such as Kari Lake picked up the ball and ran with it long after the FOX “retraction’…

  1. the pause that refreshes

Israel-Gaza war live updates: Pause in fighting begins as part of hostage release deal with Hamas – The Washington Post

A planned pause in fighting in Gaza went into effect Friday morning, as aid trucks including fuel entered the besieged Palestinian enclave and photos from southern Gaza showed people out in the streets after weeks of fighting and Israeli bombardment. The first respite in seven weeks of war follows a deal between Israel and Hamas, which on Friday is set to release an initial group of 13 hostages taken by militants in the Oct. 7 attack on Israel. Fifty hostages are expected to be freed over a four-day pause in fighting in exchange for 150 Palestinian prisoners in Israel under the agreement, which resulted from weeks of Qatar-mediated negotiations.

  2. Trump: Obama is the real president and Israelis “died because of Biden”

In this bonkers interview on NewsMax with host Wayne Allyn Root, Trump was asked if he “agrees with my belief” that Obama is the “real president” for “the brain-dead” Joe Biden. Trump: You could be right. I don’t think it’s Biden.”

Trump blamed Biden for the Hamas terror attack in Israel. “He started it. He got it going. He gave Iran the money. Now I guess politically Biden has to say positive things about Israel. All these people died because of Biden…because of his weakness.”

  3. another ad for Biden could be about him being the pause that refreshes.

a bit of the coca cola ad’s history

from The History Of ‘the Pause That Refreshes’ Campaign (historyoasis.com)

The year was 1929, and America was on the brink of the greatest economic downturn in history. Amid this impending gloom, an idea sprang to life, almost ironically.
It was a slogan that would make history, a phrase that carried the promise of respite in adversity—”The Pause That Refreshes.”
    […]
The airwaves of the time were filled with static, a noise representing the chaos and uncertainty of an era on the brink of economic collapse.
Amid this cacophony, the voice of Coca-Cola emerged, clear and inviting. It was more than a marketing pitch; it was a narrative, a story that found its hero not in a caped crusader, but in a bottle of Coca-Cola.
The genius of “The Pause That Refreshes” was in its ability to transform a simple beverage into an embodiment of solace.
Coca-Cola, in this grand narrative, was not a passive drink, but an active participant, a hero that offered momentary relief to the tired, the worried, the downtrodden.
The bottle of Coca-Cola became an emblem of refreshment, a testament to the spirit of resilience that America was so desperately clinging to.
“The Pause That Refreshes” didn’t just fill the static-filled airwaves; it started echoing in the minds and hearts of the American people.
It tapped into the collective consciousness, providing a rhythm of optimism that pulsed through the veins of the country. It told a story that resonated with its audience, and in doing so, elevated Coca-Cola from a mere beverage to a symbol of respite and hope.

compared to the alternative, Joe is surely the “embodiment of solace” and “a symbol of respite and hope” and a relief from the chaos and cacophony of the loser guy and the magaTs.

  4. I remember a lot of stuff from 53.   RIP Hank sr; President Ike; Topper; Friday night fights; Why did Truman shoot his dog?  Because he stepped on the dog’s tale and the dog said “Ike”.  Hurricane Hazel ‘54; Eddie LeBaron; Sammy Baugh ‘52; Gleason; Big John and Little Sparky;

  5. 1953 – I turned two 8 days before it was over. Can’t say I remember a thing about it.

Fox…SSDD. And of course Kari Lake picked up the lie and ran with it. She’s nothing more or less than a photogenic pumpkin head wannabe. Please tell me she’s not a mother.

I gave thanks yesterday that I still had sufficient nascent carpentry skills to get the trim cut for the powder room and that Mrs. P outdid herself on the stuffing (which was always dressing in our house) and pumpkin pie 🥧 😁

And Dumbass’ thanksgiving wishes- who would expect anything else? Can’t wait to see how he tops that in a month when he issues his Christmas wishes.

  6. craig, stelter’s book title “network of lies” says it all and backs you up 100%

Alex Wagner talks with Brian Stelter about insights and reporting from his new book, “Network of Lies: The epic saga of Fox News, Donald Trump, and the battle for American democracy.”

  7. outdid herself on the stuffing (which was always dressing in our house)

…my first Thanksgiving in the Midwest i was asked if i wanted dressing with my turkey and thought, “wow, they really do put ranch on everything, here” 🧐

  8. bink, in addition to the pause effort don’t forget that Biden has been advocating a pro-Palestine 2 state solution for a lot longer time than most of the pro-Palestinian protestors have been alive.

in re stuffing vs dressing: it’s both by my recipe which is built on the normal cornbread based stuffing
    dressed up
with the addition of onions, celery, carrots, mushrooms and pecans (AKA a fancied up mirepoix, better known by chefs as the “holy trinity”).

  9. Stuffing – Dressing – no controversy.  This year the bird had a bread sausage stuffing.  My ex made her wonderful dressing, which was baked during the last hour before serving.  My desire for oyster dressing, I brought about four dozen oysters for snacking on and making the dressing, was shot down. At least I had oysters.  While eating we did remanence about our grandfather making the oyster dressing way back when.

  10. Mushrooms- good substitute for sausage (which we didn’t have in the fridge so we just went without it – didn’t matti – it was wonderful). Tonight – day after casserole. Looking forward to it – comfort food on steroids.
