  1. sunday school lesson and scripture for the day:

Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.
Ye shall know them by their fruits….
    [Matt 7:15-16 KJV]

the successful sell of mugshot merch indicates the golden calf is getting fatter and the cult lives on.

  2. the applicable hymn of the day “sound of silence”

[Verse 3]And in the naked light I saw
    Ten thousand people, maybe more
    People hearing without listening
People writing songs that voices never shared
And no one dared disturb the sound of silence
    [Verse 4]
“Fools,” said I, “You do not know
    Silence like a cancer grows
Hear my words that I might teach you
But my words, like silent raindrops, fell
And echoed in the wells of silence
    [Verse 5]
And the people bowed and prayed
To the neon god they made
And the sign flashed out its warning
And the sign said, “The words of the prophets are written on the subway walls and tenement hallsAnd whispered in the sound of silence”

  3. Before the world gets all worked up about Trump campaign claim they raised  $7 million after this indictment, worth noting that their $15 million claim after the first indictment actually turned out to be $4 million in the FEC filings a few months later.

  4. So, is he lying to the public with bloated numbers or is he skimming money and lying to the FEC??? Orange Santos wouldn’t know the truth if it hit him in his 215-plus pound arse.

  5. Not in the usual Sunday theme, this is what the you tube algo offered as a follow up to Beethoven. It seemed totally out of the blue but somehow sums up my thoughts on todays politics. Our worst nightmares seem to becoming reality.

  6. I thought Chuck Todd got fired.  Shouldn’t he be going away?

He sucks at that job, how’d he get it?

  7. Jamie – I am literally banned in Florida.  Already told non-profit I volunteer with that I will not be going to Florida anytime soon.  Asked why (yes some people do not follow the news of any kind) I explained a little, said I did not want to be jailed for going to the restroom, and sent a link to the newspaper.

There is a major need for people like me who can run shelters of 1,000 or more people.

  8. Unfortunately I forget who said it but heard a great line on one of the TV news shows today:

Biden versus Trump is like a used car versus a car bomb

  9. HE IS LYING ABOUT GOLF AGAIN

    Donald J. Trump

I am pleased to report, for those that care, that I just won the Senior Club Championship (must be over 50 years old!) at Bedminster (Trump National Golf Club), shooting a round of 67. Now, some people will think that sounds low, but there is no hanky/lanky. Many people watch, plus I am surrounded by Secret Service Agents. Not much you can do even if you wanted to, and I don’t. For some reason, I am just a good golfer/athlete – I have won many Club Championships, and it is always a great honor!

This is one of his favorite lies. Over the years there have been many reports about how much he cheats playing golf. One professional athlete, I think a baseball player, refused to play with him ever again because he was so outraged. And he loves to lie about winning this tournament. One year recently he didn’t even play one of the days and somehow managed to win. Helps to own the golf course where the tournament is played. Absolutely no way he shot a 67, Tiger Woods in his prime would be pleased to get that score.
  10. Jack, wonderful selection.  20 seconds in and you know you’re listening to someone with a special gift. And I have ot laugh about Thick as a Brick.  I bought that album as soon as it was released.  I get a Quora Digest feed and one of the topics was “Worst Concept Album”. and among the contenders was TAAB.  I begged to differ, not because I think it’s a great concept album, but because I think it is great work as rock albums go, full stop.  IMHO it’s Ian Anderson at the top of his game. I saw it performed in their promotional tour and was absolutely gobsmacked.

  11. Pogo
About Beethoven, he was at his peak at the time he composed this piece, I also read that he was having to deal with his growing deafness. That has to make a musician ponder mortality some.
As to Thick as a Brick, I was going to college at the time and doing janitor work at the college( work studies grant) The building where I was night janitor had an auditorium with an excellent sound system, a co-worker had just bought the album and brought it to work. We played it cranked up to where you could hear it through the whole building. (and maybe half the campus, lol, who knows) For me it always was best that night as it echoed through an empty school building. It just seemed to fit. As for the album’s concept, if you wanted it to play on commercial radio, then yeah they are right. As I remember the only time I ever heard it on radio the way it was intended to be played was late at night, 2 am when the lowest paid DJ put it on, fired up a fat one and contemplated the universe for a while.
One other thing, I realized last night as I sang along, I’ve changed the words to the opening. From I won’t mind if you set this one out to I hope you won’t mind if I set this one out. It just seems to go with the times.

  12. Good luck with that, Bink – I may try it on LP (Gen Y) – I’ll have him listen to the vinyl version (I’ve got it and picked it up on CD back in the early CD days – best versions of recordings IMHO as compared to later days as downloads started to become common). I’ll know if he likes it if he listens to it a second time with a guitar in his hands playing along.

BTW, Jack, you inspired me.  I’ve got it playing while I’m retooling a question outline for a final hearing I have Tuesday – am on Part 2 just now. (Ya gotta love Apple Music and a Bose Mini II for an office music system).

  13. Just in case anyone questions whether Trump legit shot a 67 yesterday to win another Club Championship, he gives out the cell number of his witness — who works for him — if anyone wants to verify it.

  14. lol he’s gonna get those dudes subpoenaed

that schlub couldn’t score a 67 if he walked the ball to the hole

Didn’t he also say he hit a Hole-in-one, earlier this year? Exaggerating golf-scores must be a sign of cognitive decline or advanced megalomania or something 🤷‍♂️

  15. We don’t need to call to verify Orange Santos’ hugely low golf score.  If he truthed that there was no “hanky/lanky,” then there was no hanky/lanky.    Hanky-panky, on the other hand, is hugely possible.  (Does he post in Freudian slips?)

And, if folks like him are going to pick on President Biden for his age, then it should be pointed out that Orange-itis is hugely over the 50-year threshold for the senior tourney. Biden is 80, Orange Julius Cesar is 77, and that is not a huge difference. But measuring intelligence, experience and humanity, ah, viva la difference; POTUS Joe is hugely ahead in all areas.

  16. The weather here is lovely.  Especially not too hot.
I recently purchased a lot of fried chicken from KFC  and the breast, thigh pieces were normal sized but the legs and wings were from tiny chickens. Most bizarre.

  17. FloriDuh is under a Deere of emergency.  It’s mostly just RonDuh mucking up things, but there’s also a hurricane and yt supremacists.
Vivek doesn’t think the latter thing exists and claims any animosity he’s felt has come from the left.   Hmmm.  During the debate, he says someone pushed him down the stairs once.  Why?  Maybe it was just his personality.  Any animosity from the left is for his wingnut views and megalomaniacal personality.    He’s dangerous.  ps – He says he will not take a VP spot.   Take him at his word.  In any event, he’s not going anywhere. We’re stuck with him for election cycles to come.
