“Putin quoted Russian writer Leo Tolstoy: “There’s no happiness in life, only a mirage of it on the horizon.” Putin clarified that there is no “family trust” between Biden and him, but he has seen the “mirage” of it.“

Ah, so Vlad wasn’t trying to sow despair nor was it sinister, he was just being Russian. His choice of quote says a lot about him. Nothing is real (the truth is negotiable). Trust no one (and that includes him). Really, he’s pointing a finger at himself. He probably had to memorize that quote his first day in the KGB. You can’t build a working relationship with a guy like Vlad.

  2. pogo, are you sure it’s not the garlic butter they’re cooked in that he likes?

garlic butter, like bacon, makes anything – no matter how repulsive – taste good.

  3. Patd, possibly, but the garlic butter (nectar) may have been hidden under the beautiful light tomato sauce. And the bass – delightful.

  4. Can’t wait to get back to NYC in a few months.  Pogo – Have you checked out Lincoln Center plaza/restart stages?

Killers are, indeed, soulless. Just saying that Vlad was telling on himself as much as he was pointing out anything about his meeting the POTUS Joe.

  5. Nice post CC.
My friend , Arely Blankenship would go off on the Russians every time  the USSR came up.
Not for being commies, but being slaves for so long.  Putin is that binary player in their history.  The “jailer” .  That entire system bred some of the most brutal men we have ever seen, since Union troops marched into  Galveston.

  6. So, my  post pandemic hypothesis is still taking shape , but more data is really starting to flow now.
All plagues over throw the existing order . Those sectors that were already under stress ,  get more dire .
One of the first sectors  to be hit is labor.
And teachers  are the led example.
Were are about too offer retired teachers 2 year contracts  at full pay , and they keep drawing their pensions.
Our teacher pipeline , like Lake Meade has been evaporating.

  7. I ain’t gonna work for Maggie’s brother no moreNo, I ain’t gonna work for Maggie’s brother no more Well, he hands you a nickel, he hands you a dimeHe asks you with a grin if you’re havin’ a good timeThen he fines you every time you slam the doorI ain’t gonna work for Maggie’s brother no more

  8. I sailed around the  Caribbean tonight with Errol Flynn, and Olivia De Havilland.  “Capt. Blood” .
To be Flynn  after this movie.
I named my 54 International  Travel All   after her , “Olivia De Traveling “.

  9. I await  the new law in Texas in 2 years.

All Texas fetuses with a heart beat,   will be issued a Glock 9mm, with 1,500 rounds of ammo.
Just in case they half  to gun their way out of the womb.

  10. Signing crazy  gun laws with the NRA   is one thing.
A “Go Fund Me Border Wall ”  is another matter .
Mr. Abbott  has opened a vote.  If he can’t get money , he’ s a chump .

Anything to not talk about the Texas Power Grid.

  11. BiD, yes, I’ve checked the LC reopening out. It’s a bit odd and doesn’t work for us – you enter a lottery for a pod of 2 tickets (we need 3) and if you win you have 30 minutes to claim your tickets. Today’s performance is Questlove’s 1st film. I’d love to see it, but not at the cost of not being able to spend the time with LP or Mrs. P.
