Don’t mess with her this week

She’s serving up an impeachment sandwich according to the NY Times:

Democratic leaders were poised to sandwich next week’s impeachment vote between the passage of two broadly bipartisan bills. Those measures, approval of a government funding bill and Mr. Trump’s new trade deal with Canada and Mexico, could help soften the political liability for moderate Democrats in swing districts.

“But I don’t want to go among mad people," Alice remarked. "Oh, you can’t help that," said the Cat: "we’re all mad here. I’m mad. You’re mad." "How do you know I’m mad?" said Alice. "You must be," said the Cat, "or you wouldn’t have come here.” ― Lewis Carroll, Alice in Wonderland

  1. and she’s doing it in heels.

one might also say she’s doing it in spite of heels (and you know who they are)

  2. Last night I finally got a chance to watch “Linda Ronstadt, The Sound of My Voice”.  It was filled with wonderful music from her whole career and some heartbreak at the end that her voice has been taken away by Parkinson’s Disease.  I highly recommend it to anyone from that era.

This song wasn’t in the show, but from her Christmas album.  A Joni Mitchell song sung by Linda

Thanks for the music, a good start to a cold snowy Monday.  Another cup of coffee and it is time to get the snow blower out and clean off the driveway and sidewalk.

  4. Well, looking forward to seeing LP sometime soon in NYC.  Not looking forward to the traffic, though.

  5. This kinda brings to mind a certain Sonny & Cher song about the beat going on, thanks to Glen Kessler at the Wapo Fact Checker.

In 2017, President Trump made nearly 1,999 false or misleading claims. In 2018, he added another 5,689, for a total of 7,688.

Now, with a few weeks still left in 2019, the president already has more than doubled the total number of false or misleading claims in just a single year.

As of Dec. 10, his 1,055th day in office, Trump had made 15,413 false or misleading claims, according to the Fact Checker’s database that analyzes, categorizes and tracks every suspect statement he has uttered. That’s an average of more than 32 claims a day since our last update 62 days ago.

In fact, October and November of this year rank as the second- and third-biggest months for Trumpian claims. They are exceeded only by October 2018, when Trump barnstormed the country in a desperate — and unsuccessful — effort to thwart a Democratic takeover of the House of Representatives. Both Octobers had more than 1,100 claims, with an average of nearly 40 claims a day.

And the beat goes on, the beat goes on.

Drums keep pounding rhythm to the brain..

La de dah de dee, Lah de dah de die.

And his followers do not give a shit.

  6. One last link before I get to some things I have to do before lunch.  Jennifer Rubin makes my “nice” list for pointing out why Ted Cruz (isn’t it time for him to shed his skin again?) and his fellow Republican’ts get on the “naughty” list.

  7. The senators up for re-election are the key.   Those states should be getting lots of attack ads about how they are choosing party and the disgusting racist pig president instead of country.

  8. speaking of racist pigs, that white power hand signal flashed at the army-navy game looks a lot like a hand gesture the twit is often seen making.   am not the only one who remembered seeing it and puzzling over his little tic.  here’s an excerpt from raw story on it yesterday:

Last year Salon had an email interview with Roger Stone, a former adviser to Presidents Richard Nixon and Donald Trump, who was photographed flashing the hand signal alongside members of the Proud Boys, a pro-Trump men’s organization.

“Is that photograph of you flashing a white supremacist hand symbol genuine? If so, I have some thoughts about it as a Jewish person,” this author wrote to Stone.
“Bullshit. It is not consider a White Supremacist hand signal. I am aware of this bogus claim. It is a gesture which means OK,” Stone replied. After Stone denounced racist groups and cited his work with Nixon and ongoing support for Trump, Salon asked him why “you and the Proud Boys chose to flash the ‘OK’ hand signal at this particular moment” as “that doesn’t make a great deal of sense.”
Stone replied, “The gesture is used often by President Trump and is used to connote support for the president in photos of the proudboys [sic] nationwide.” After again denying that it was a white supremacist hand signal, Salon provided Stone with a link to an Anti-Defamation League article explaining the history of the hand signal and asked about Stone’s views on Trump’s 2017 defense of the alt-right protesters in Charlottesville. Stone did not reply.

  9. Great choice Flatus.  Wonderful voices.

We have been struggling a bit with what to see & do in NYC the week of Christmas.  Aren’t terribly excited about the plays there we haven’t seen (not to mention the ridiculous ticket prices), and there’s really no marquee music lined up in MSG.  But we’re taking in the NYP string section doing Mozart at Carnegie Hall and have a couple of things on the agenda, but ran across Jose Feliciano doing a Felice Navidad show Sunday.  I’ll be there. I hope Jose still has his licks – LP will be impressed if he does.

While flashing the OK hand sign has recently become a white power signal. It has several older usages and some of them obscure and known only to the select group of cadets such as would be attending the game.  In this case I think we need to adhere to the old adage ” never attribute to evil when stupidity will suffice”

  11. pogo, bet this will be on the program

This is the official Video for the christmas hit “Feliz Navidad” from Jose Feliciano feat. FaWiJo.

    Starring: José Feliciano, FaWiJo

  12. The senators up for re-election are the key.   Those states should be getting lots of attack ads about how they are choosing party and the disgusting racist pig president instead of country. – Ms Cracker

Let’s not forget “the disgusting rapist, racist, russian pig president.” (A hat tip to Ivana)

  13. X-R
Well yes the rapist-pig in chief should come in for his fair share but at this point I want the senate in case the electorate loses its mind a second time and re-elects him (I doubt it but…) I think we can get the senate — all hands on deck and a fifty state strategery.  Where is Dr. Dean  he used to be around a lot.  I hope he is ok

  14. Ms Cracker, I merely want to remind people that support of Senator Pig, is support for the racist rapist russophile.
52 % of us being female, support for an big fat intimidating rapist ought to be a hot button issue. I’m thinking of willie hortonization of trump.
