  1. Vice President Mike Pence (Beck Bennett) consults with William Barr (Aidy Bryant), Rudy Giuliani (Kate McKinnon) and Mike Pompeo (Matthew Broderick) to strategize about his options during Trump’s impeachment investigation.

  2. even funnier (more odd than haha), rollingstone reports:

It now appears as though the “perfect” call President Donald Trump made to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky needs a fall guy, and outgoing Energy Secretary Rick Perry may just be that man.
According to a report on Saturday, a source told Axios that the president told House Republicans during a conference call on Friday: “Not a lot of people know this but, I didn’t even want to make the call. The only reason I made the call was because Rick asked me to. Something about an LNG [liquified natural gas] plant.” Axios also reported that the president’s quote was confirmed by two other sources.
Politico reported that Perry is expected to announce his resignation from the administration by the end of November.

Trump has been trying to sell that the call was not intended to put any pressure on Zelensky to investigate the president’s political foes, but was instead “perfect.” The news of the call along with the withholding of congressional approved funds by Trump moved Speaker Nancy Pelosi to accelerate the already-in-motion impeachment inquiry, and it now appears now that Trump might be looking for an out or a scapegoat.

Axios went on to report that this might not be the end of Trump’s blame Perry strategy, with one source telling them, “more of this will be coming out in the next few days.”

Congressional Democrats are already interested in a trip Perry made to the Ukraine in May when he attended Zelensky’s inauguration in place of Vice President Mike Pence. Further, according to Axios, the House’s subpoena of Rudy Giuliani includes documents related to Perry and Ukrainian leaders.

  5. No bouncer on MtP? A crazy broadcast this morning with Sen Ron Johnson going uncontrollably berserk. An embarrassment to civil discussion.

  6. Well, Johnson absent-mindedly incriminated the entire administration-  not surprising he is going berserk.

Ron Johnson- Unwitting (possible) Savior of Democracy!

  7. flatus, i wondered when the guys with the straight jacket (or the hook) would show up to haul ron away.

  8. daily beast:

In an extremely contentious and heated interview with Meet the Press anchor Chuck Todd on Sunday, Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI) declared that he does not trust the CIA or FBI while launching into a series of conspiratorial attacks on Democrats and intelligence officials regarding the Ukraine scandal.
Johnson—who last week said he was told about a quid pro quo involving Ukrainian investigation into the 2016 election and that President Trump blocked him from telling Ukraine military aid was coming—immediately began his interview on the defensive, complaining that Todd was biased and the president was being sabotaged.
The Republican senator then proceeded to accuse former members of the FBI and CIA of conspiring to set up the president after his election, claiming this has “everything to do with Ukraine.”
“Why a Fox News conspiracy propaganda stuff is popping up on here, I have no idea,” an exasperated Todd noted at one point.
“It is not, that is exactly, because this is going over the line, exactly why President Trump is upset and why his supporters are upset with the news media,” Johnson shouted, to which Todd replied: “Can we please answer the question that I asked you instead of trying to make Donald Trump feel better here that you are not criticizing him?”
Eventually, Johnson would tell Todd that the reason he “winced” when he heard about military aid being attached to Ukrainian investigations into the 2016 election is he didn’t want to see those two things connected, adding that Trump “adamantly denied” to him that was occurring. He would then go on to support a probe by Ukraine into the Democrats surrounding the last presidential election.
“Ukrainian officials reportedly helped Clinton allies research Trump’s advisers,” he huffed. “There is potential interference in the 2016 campaign. That’s what Trump wants to get to the bottom of. But the press doesn’t want to.”
Johnson added: “I’m being called a conspiracy theorist, John Solomon is, because the press is horribly biased and Trump and his supporters completely understand that.”
Todd confronted Johnson on whether or not he believes former Trump campaign chief Paul Manafort was framed and if the Russians interfered in the 2016 election to benefit Trump. After saying he doesn’t think Manafort was framed and the Russian “absolutely” meddled in the election, Johnson pivoted back to supposed Ukrainian involvement during the 2016 campaign.
“There are a lot of unanswered questions,” the senator exclaimed. “Chuck, I just want the truth. The American people want the truth.”
“So do you not trust the FBI? Do you not trust the CIA?” Todd wondered, causing Johnson to yell back: “No, no, I don’t. Absolutely not. After Peter Strzok and Lisa Page, after James Comey?!”
After Johnson said he didn’t trust anyone from the Obama administration, Todd asked him if he trusted the organizations now.
“No I didn’t trust them back then,” Johnson replied before listing off a series of former officials who have become favorite targets of the president’s supporters.
Todd, clearly out of patience with Johnson at the end, suggested Johnson was only interested in the truth that was “politically comfortable” for him before getting in one final parting shot.
“I’m sorry that you chose to come on this way, senator.”

  9. well, the twit just lost Utah and maybe a few more LDS states

    salt lake trib:

ashington • President Donald Trump on Saturday called Sen. Mitt Romney a “pompous ass” after the senator criticized him for asking foreign powers to investigate a Democratic rival.
The expletive-laced tweet from the president was a warning, a shot across the bow that is likely meant to intimidate other Republicans. In short: Be loyal.
In a morning tweetstorm, the president lambasted Romney and said that he had begged for an endorsement to run for the Senate seat from Utah and previously to be secretary of state.
“Mitt Romney never knew how to win,” the president tweeted en route to his golf course in Sterling, Va. “He is a pompous ‘ass’ who has been fighting me from the beginning, except when he begged me for my endorsement for his Senate run (I gave it to him), and when he begged me to be Secretary of State (I didn’t give it to him).”
“He is so bad for R’s!” the president added, referencing Republicans.
Romney didn’t ask Trump for an endorsement for his Senate run in Utah, though Romney did accept it after the president tweeted his support. The Utah Republican met with Trump over dinner after the 2016 election when Trump was considering him to run the State Department. Trump instead chose former Exxon Mobil executive Rex Tillerson.

    [..]

Later, after returning to the White House from the visit to his golf course, Trump again went after Romney, saying that the Utah senator is worse than former Sen. Jeff Flake, R-Ariz., who had been a sharp Trump critic.
    He added:
“I’m hearing that the Great People of Utah are considering their vote for their Pompous Senator, Mitt Romney, to be a big mistake. I agree! He is a fool who is playing right into the hands of the Do Nothing Democrats!”

  11. Putrid Potus has ordered the willful destruction of a National Monument for the sake of his ego wall

    Outrage

The Trump administration has run roughshod over environmental laws in a rush to build an unnecessary border wall. And in footage that emerged on Friday, construction efforts are just running roughshod over the environment, period.

    Contains video of destruction.

  12. All right Chuck Todd    although  RonJohnson is kind of easy pickins

  13. Spent several years being the Public Service Director for a country radio station and every once in a while I get nostalgic.  The recent Ken Burns PBS Country Music added to the mood.  Bring on the possum.

  14. SFB and his cult followers hate truth tellers.  I am waiting for one of the intelligence community to toss out some good stuff on the meetings between stupid and Putin.

Decided to enjoy a day of driving by going to Buena Ventura to deliver a load of her heaters.  The weather pattern is changing and the drought may go away, with weekends being wet. It was nice sitting on her without the blasted air conditioners running.  Next up is getting the fly bridge shrink wrapped again.  Talking with one of my marina friends about weight gain caused by eating and drinking.  She was surprised when I told her I eat and drink less at the marina than home.  For me the marina is a stress free environment, home and the office are the max stress environment. I do not even take my work phone to the marinas.  Ahh – happiness.

  15. Love the whole idea of “choices”.  The past is an interesting country, but I don’t live there anymore.
