Sighted!

The Illusive mythical creature really does exist! No, alas, not yet our fearless leader once again pointing the way at trailhead, but the mysterious Yeti (or at least his/her tracks) has been sighted by the Indian Army according to the

BBC.

‘Yeti footprints’: Indian army mocked over claim
The Indian army has claimed to have found footprints of the yeti, sparking jokes and disbelief on social media.
The army tweeted to its nearly six million followers on Monday that it had discovered “mysterious footprints of mythical beast ‘Yeti’ at the Makalu Base Camp [in the Himalayas]”.
The yeti – a giant ape-like creature – often figures in South Asian folklore.
There is no evidence proving yeti exist but the myth retains a strong appeal in the region.
And the army has now added to the legend by sharing pictures of “footprints” in the snow on an official Twitter account.
Although the footprints were discovered on 9 April, the army made the discovery public only after deciding that it matched earlier theories about the yeti, according to a report in the Times of India.
Reacting to the disbelief on social media, the army said the “evidence” about the yeti had been “photographed ” and “handed over to subject matter experts”.
“So, we thought it prudent [to go public] to excite scientific temper and rekindle the interest.”

Indian Army has shared “mysterious Footprints of mythical beast ‘Yeti'” on Twitter. Let’s take a look…The Nepali folklore boasts about an ape-like creature taller than an average human, which inhabits the Himalayas, Siberia, Central and East Asia. This creature is commonly known by the name of Yeti or Abominable Snowman. It has a robust physique covered with thick fur. Since 1920s, several mountaineers have claimed about sighting this giant creature but without solid proof. A few days ago, the Indian Army created a curiosity among the people by sharing “mysterious Footprints of mythical beast ‘Yeti'”. The Army claimed that one of its mountaineering expedition team has sighted the footprints of ‘Yeti’ measuring 32×15 inches close to Makalu Base Camp on April 9, 2019. The Army’s Additional Directorate General of Public Information tweeted, “For the first time, an #IndianArmy Mountaineering Expedition Team has sited mysterious footprints of mythical beast ‘Yeti’ measuring 32×15 inches close to Makalu Base Camp on April 9, 2019.” “This elusive snowman has only been sighted at Makalu-Barun National Park in the past,” it added. “Yeti” has been featured in several video games, cartoon shows and movies. The popular cartoon show “The adventures of Tintin” portrays Yeti as a benevolent creature, which “internalises certain human characteristics”. In 2016, a special four-part episode titled “Hunt for the Yeti” was released by the Travel Channel. The scientist community have not found any solid proof of Yeti’s existence so far.

NYTimes: Trump Sues Banks to Stop Them From Complying With House Subpoenas

President Trump, his three eldest children and his private company filed a federal lawsuit on Monday against Deutsche Bank and Capital One, in a bid to prevent the banks from responding to congressional subpoenas.

In the suit, filed in federal court in Manhattan, the president and his family members argue that the Democratic House committee leaders who issued the subpoenas engaged in a broad overreach.

“This case involves congressional subpoenas that have no legitimate or lawful purpose,” the suit alleges. “The subpoenas were issued to harass President Donald J. Trump, to rummage through every aspect of his personal finances, his businesses and the private information of the president and his family, and to ferret about for any material that might be used to cause him political damage. No grounds exist to establish any purpose other than a political one.”

[A Mar-a-Lago Weekend and an Act of God: Trump’s History With Deutsche Bank]

The House’s Intelligence and Financial Services Committees issued subpoenas to Deutsche Bank, a longtime lender to Mr. Trump’s real estate company, and other financial institutions two weeks ago, seeking a long list of documents and other materials related to Deutsche Bank’s history of lending and providing accounts to Mr. Trump and his family. People with knowledge of the investigation said it related to possible money laundering by people in Russia and Eastern Europe.

    […]
Kerrie McHugh, a Deutsche Bank spokeswoman, said, “We remain committed to providing appropriate information to all authorized investigations and will abide by a court order regarding such investigations.”
    […]
According to the suit, officials from the president’s company, the Trump Organization, tried but failed to get information about the subpoenas from congressional officials.
They learned from Deutsche Bank that the request included financial information related to “parents, subsidiaries, affiliates, branches, divisions, partnerships, properties, groups, special purpose entities, joint ventures, predecessors, successors or any other entity in which they have or had a controlling interest,” according to the suit.
The bank had intended to begin responding on May 6, the suit says.

One morning we decided to visit the zoo. It was compact as geography of the area dictated; that didn’t detract from our interest in the critters there. Interest turned to shame when I made eye-to-eye contact with the resident/trophy/imprisoned gorilla standing Yeti-like in ‘his’ space.

Flatus…  I went to that zoo when I went to N.O. with Rick while he had a conference for work.  I ran around all over New Orleans.  The cable car ride to the zoo was great… seeing all those magnificent old mansions that were accurately described by Anne Rice.  At the time, the main attraction at the zoo was a beautiful white lion.

  8. wapo:

House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam B. Schiff (D-Calif.) said Tuesday that his panel would make a criminal referral to the Justice Department regarding potential false testimony by Erik Prince, the billionaire founder of the private military contractor Blackwater and an ally of President Trump.

“The evidence is so weighty that the Justice Department needs to consider this,” Schiff said during a Washington Post Live event.

Among other things, Schiff pointed to a meeting that took place nine days before Trump took office between Prince and a Russian financier close to Russian President Vladimir Putin in the Seychelles islands.

Prince later told congressional officials examining Russia’s interference in the presidential election that the meeting happened by chance and was not taken at the behest of the incoming administration — testimony that congressional Democrats now think was false.

Prince told special counsel Robert S. Mueller III’s investigators a version of the Seychelles meeting that is at odds in several key respects with his sworn testimony to the House Intelligence Committee in November 2017.

“We know from the Mueller report that that was not a chance meeting,” Schiff told Post reporter Robert Costa during an interview at the event. “We know there were communications after he returned.”

“In very material ways I think the evidence strongly suggests that he willingly misled our committee and the Justice Department needs to consider whether there’s a prosecutable case,” Schiff added.

At this juncture, neither the Senate nor the House intelligence committees know the details of Prince’s proffer with Mueller — and whether he struck a deal that could shield him from prosecution.

Schiff noted Tuesday that if Prince gave the special counsel’s team information “under the condition it not be used against him, then being able to prove” that he lied to lawmakers “might be problematic.”

  9. In an early morning video posted on social media, Venezuela’s opposition leader, Juan Guaidó, has called on Venezuelans and the military to support his bid to oust the country’s president, Nicolás Maduro. Flanked by men in dress uniform and the opposition politician Leopoldo López, he claimed the Venezuelan military had ‘responded to our call’ and urged people to take to the streets.

    https://www.rawstory.com/2019/04/trump-is-terrified-that-deutsche-bank-records-will-expose-him-as-a-clown-living-on-credit-rick-wilson/

Anti-Trump Republican strategist Rick Wilson on Tuesday said that the Trump family’s decision to sue Deutsche Bank and Capital One to stop them from turning over Trump-related financial records was very revealing.

In particular, he found it notable that the entire Trump family seems to be putting its weight behind trying to stop these financial institutions from giving information to congressional investigators.

“The fact that Trump, Large Adult Son Don Jr., Buc-ee’s mascot Eric, and Myrrha are all parties to the suit tells you a lot,” he explained. “This isn’t just another episode of America’s favorite TV reality show, the Dumbass Borgias. Everything for Trump is the brand, the ego, the image. I suspect that as these things reveal, we’ll see the truth of their, flimsy, gimcrack enterprise.”

Wilson then explained that the moment when he realized Trump was a financial paper tiger came when a hedge fund manager told him that Trump’s entire empire was largely built on smoke and mirrors.

“Trump’s not a billionaire,” the hedge fund manager told him. “I’m a billionaire. Trump is a clown living on credit.”

  15. another horse race far from the stretch but one of the fillies is looking good rounding the first turn

    the hill:

Three new polls show Sen. Elizabeth Warren‘s (D-Mass.) support in the Democratic primary growing, offering some new hope for her presidential campaign.

Quinnipiac University’s national survey of the 2020 presidential race released Tuesday showed Warren as the top choice for 12 percent of the Democratic and Democratic-leaning voters asked.

That second-place finish, behind former Vice President Joe Biden, is a significant jump from Quinnipiac’s poll released March 28, which had Warren in fifth, polling at just 4 percent.

A CNN-SSRS poll released Tuesday had Warren polling at 8 percent, in third place, doubling her support from 4 percent in its poll last month.

A Morning Consult survey released Tuesday also showed Warren in third place, polling at 9 percent, 2 points higher than on March 31, and placing the senator slightly ahead of South Bend, Ind., Mayor Pete Buttigieg (D), former Rep. Beto O’Rourke (D-Texas) and Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.).

All three candidates were ahead of Warren in the previous Morning Consult polls.

Warren’s rise in the three polls comes after the senator announced this month that she raised $6 million in the first quarter, well below other contenders such as Sen. Bernie Sanders, (I-Vt.) who brought in $18.2 million.

Warren garnered some positive attention during her CNN town hall earlier this month, and she has released a slew of policy proposals in recent weeks, including a sweeping plan to reform higher education that would cancel nearly all student loan debt and create universal free public college.

The Massachusetts senator was also the first 2020 contender to call for the House to begin impeachment proceedings against President Trump after the redacted report by special counsel Robert Mueller detailed 10 instances in which the president may have obstructed justice.

But the report did not make a conclusion on whether obstruction had happened.

  16. pat, there’s something to that clown on credit stuff – golf courses and ski resorts have a couple of things in common – you can’t sell them very easily and it takes 3 bankruptcies to make them profitable.  IF SFB had to come up with cash, what of his properties aren’t highly leveraged (i.e. upside down) and which one(s) would he be able to unload at anything other than fire sale prices?  My guess its the answer is none.

  17. Run roh. Mueller calls out Barr as misleading us.
Mueller complained that Barr’s letter did not capture ‘context’ of Trump probe

Special counsel Robert S. Mueller III wrote a letter in late March complaining to Attorney General William P. Barr that a four-page memo to Congress describing the principal conclusions of the investigation into President Trump “did not fully capture the context, nature, and substance” of Mueller’s work, according to a copy of the letter reviewed Tuesday by The Washington Post.

The letter and a subsequent phone call between the two men reveal the degree to which the two longtime colleagues and friends disagreed as they handled the legally and politically fraught task of investigating the president.

    This is heating up.

  18. Ms Pat,
The Mueller report actually enumerated 10 instances of obstruction of justice. What it did not do was find intent beyond a reasonable doubt. I think most prosecutors, plus Mr Pogo, Esq., would probably find enough evidence to take the case to a jury and let that jury decide whether or not there was intent. As one who always* worked for the defense, I am sympathetic with Mr Mueller’s reticence.
    *Except in one instance.
