Easter Parade, Irving Berlin with a big band flavor. Harry James does a great job with a tried and true tune.
Enjoy the music, but most of all enjoy the day!?

Happy Easter!
I love the static of old records; the cleanliness of CDs/digital lacks something.
Now why do I feel like doing a reverse boycott/buying something on Amazon to show Bezos my support?
Trumpsky freezing funding/getting ready to pull out of Syria do Put-ey can have the oil?
Ted Nugent is still off the rails. What is this “irrefutable evidence” that the kids from Parkland are “soulless”? (Perhaps he has confused them with the folks at Fox.)
The Motor City Madman is, indeed, mad. Also, he’s scared enough to lash out at young folks taking action. It’s bigger than the kids of Parkland. He doesn’t get it, either. He needs to watch that ugly mouth of his, before he incites someone else to do harm.
How many decades has it been since he had had any relevance? Does he have any product to boycott or is he just living off the memory of his former fame? He is disgusting & sad. If I had one of his albums, I would throw it in the trash.
Jace… excellent choice for today!
Jamie… if Gronkowski makes the final Derby cut, I’ll take him… if not.. there’s always lots of other choices. Thanks for keeping us up to date.
Sturg… I’ve been reading Fox’s Southern Fried Plus 6 slowly… whenever I’m in the mood for a short story I pick it up and read the next one. It’s so delicious it must be savored.
Happy Easter for those that believe… and happy April Fool’s Day for those that don’t. I favor the latter.
Thank you Jace. As usual a perfect selection for the day.
We could do with a whole Sunday of Harry and his beautifully smooth trumpet. My favorite:
When I was about 10 we were visiting family in NYC and I wanted to be in the Easter parade and of course needed a hat. (this was mid 1950’s) I picked out a white pill box with a short veil and a red trim suitable for someone about 20 more years. But I did not care and off we went to 5th avenue. Luckily there is no photographic record. I also had a large purple orchid. We were on vacation and I think my parents were humoring me
bId – fancy you should bring up old records. I installed a new stylus in my main cartridge and am “breaking” it in. It requires twenty to twenty-five hours before it is at its best for sound. That is roughly thirty albums. This is not the worst thing to be doing, actually enjoyable, as I dig in the collection for songs not often listened to.
Having seen SFB do bizarre stuff yesterday it is obvious he found his phone again. Too bad. I wonder if he was cognizant that yesterday was Transgender Day of Visibility? I hope so.
parkland student of yore
I wondered if our present day activist had the above image in mind when she selected her outfit reminding us of other revolutions
So you think all kids dress like the French revolutionaries?
no, kgc, i’m in awe at how appropriatly for the occasion the parkland kids have dressed and comported themselves. they are truly awesome.

Trump is on a total Twitter tear this morning about walls and DACA with a complete racist rant.
Local political show – very out of touch: Young folks don’t vote. That may have been true in the past, but things are changing & November is coming.
BB – I donated half of my albums to a local charity when I moved to a smaller place (and haven’t had a turntable in years), so I hope folks are actually enjoying them. I would like to listen to my grandparents’ old 78s, again. Liberace, Red Buttons, and a few others.
Reporter: Ted Nugent says you parkland kids have no soul.
Kids: Who?
exactly.
Ms Bronc,
I had no intention of accusing your ancestors or the White colonists of anything. They died of the same diseases, only at 10 – 20 % in each epidemic, rather than 1/3 to 1/2. No one knew about germs or viruses.
I’m never meant to get into a pissing match, and am sorry if I upset you.
The deadbeat nazi says, “No DACA for you !”
BiD: ” reverse boycott/buying something on Amazon”
interesting. I wonder if Trump might be rallying customers to Amazon

she was dressed that way before the 14th of Feb and these teenagers are not revolutionaries they are survivors trying to prevent a crime again. I think it is important to let them do what they want on the gun issue and support them as much possible but not have expectations beyond that.
XR – same to you from me. We have a world which needs people to fight hard against ignorance and bad. It is easier to do with people we respect, as I do you.
kgc, I was just complimenting them. I support them wholeheartedly.
Is Amazon Prime worth it?
Is Amazon Prime worth it?
I wouldn’t be without it
patd
not the point I think people are heaping expectations on them that aren’t fair.
Blue
I love it. Every time I start thinking the yearly fee isn’t worth it, I think of all the free/low cast goodies I get because of it even if I don’t make enough purchases to equal the yearly cost. Just downloading all the free movies to your devices is a big benefit. My son wouldn’t be without his as it save a ton in shipping costs.
We too are subscribers to Amazon Prime I think we get more out of the video services but we buy from amazon – although lately some of the items we bought previously the prices have jumped and/or they are no longer eligible for free shipping. grumble grumble grumble
It’ll all go down the drain if one of the students starts getting a big head. If I were 17 again, instead of being in my 70s, and I were one of them, I’m pretty sure that I’d get a stuffed shirt and a big head. Well, a fat head, anyway.
Realistic expectations for Parkland (and other HS) kids:
–wake in the morning refreshed for school.
–have your homework done and ready for presentation.
–place your soiled clothes in the hamper.
–have -something- for breakfast.
–let us know if you expect to return late from school.
–be polite to your teachers.
–take advantage of the library.
–no smoking!
–always carry protection.
–dress for the occasion.
–call us if you’re going to be later than agreed.
–read chapter seven.
–get a good night’s sleep.
–say your prayers.

cowardly/bullying and anti-family-values rapist ted nugent criticizes the Parkland Conscious !
That, in itself recommends those young citizens. May he be silent, needy, and broke for a generation.
Thank you for The Easter Parade, Mr Jace !
I am still a fan of Harry James.
Thanks for Stardust, Ms Jamie ! It is evergreen and ever lovely.
Thank you for the to-do list, Mr Flatus. Reading it, I think I can see where I went wrong in high school. No wonder I didn’t get accepted by Princeton, Columbia, Stanford, or UCLA. Oh well, the U of M was still one of the great Land Grant Universities when I attended [along with MI, NW, IA, and WI, though we were loath to admit their high quality]. Go Gophers !
Amazon prime-2 thumbs up. I buy a crapload of stuff on Amazon and with prime the shipping’s free. New lights for the kitchen, decals for the guitar I’m building for LP, car stuff I can’t find locally, wine… it goes on.
Im very impressed with SFBs having been filled with the spirit of Christ on Easter Sunday. If there’s a hell he’ll be a fucking tour guide.
Sturg, and in 2008 a scout was straight. Full stop.
XR, I commend USF at every opportunity. I don’t know of a better institution for a career military individual wishing to become current. I did a BA in finance there as well their excellent two-year Executive MBA program. The VA offered to approve carrying me for a PhD in Public Health under voc-rehab, but I was pooped.
Oh, the list was compiled from my failures.
KC, I’m fully on board with ya on the Parkland kids- support them but drop the expectations about what they can do. The results are largely out of their hands. McMertle and Sparky’s Failure to advance sensible gun legislation will not be the students’ failure.
Yeah, and most of the scouts where I went didn’t pay any more attention to the scout law than they did to the New Testament…..which wasn’t much……dass why I never got past tenderfoots
LOL. I did one year of Cub Scouts. It was enough.
Amazon Prime is worth it for a lot of things. But, many others may have the same product or unique product at a better price and with the same free two day shipping. If you did not hear yet, Amazon is changing some of its “free shipping” policies. Quite a few small or light products at low prices are not shipped free anymore. They are bundled products if you purchase over a certain dollar amount such as twenty-five dollars. I just received a three pack of vacuum cleaner bags at a price less about one third of any other, but only if they shipped with a twenty-five dollar order (one which included the new Shure stylus). For me it is part of shopping Amazon, not a big deal.
I found the video service a pain. Often I find something to watch and read the fine print only to see that it is not a Prime video. On Netflix and Hulu no need to read as there is no fine print.
Music is very good and getting better all the time. When I first used Prime music it was quite limited, especially the playlists. Now you can find something for anything.
Check out the many other areas of Prime. I like the daily deals too.
I was in cub scouts. Got to be a wolf, and then a bear, hippo, or giraffe or something. I did all my own projects, which is prolly why the other kids harvested badges faster than I did.
Maybe.
‘Course, I was a big klutz, with all the hand-eye co-ordination of a blind cave fish.
XR – I was the same as you in Cub Scouts, even the doing your own work on merit badges. Scouts was and still is for many boys and girls important, my sons helped into their twenties. I did have one difference though, I wanted to be a Brownie Scout.
I lost respect for the Scouts when my pinewood derby car was trounced by other ones obviously constructed by fathers. Really, your 8 year old son made that exact scale replica of a ‘52 ‘vette? Still bitter.
The “Boy Scouts Handbook” is a must-own, though, and i still reference it. Ok, I’m very thirsty, so i’m going to dig a hole, put a cup in the middle of it, cover that with a plastic sheet, put a rock on top of that, and take a nap.
Also- I’m a big fan of xrep’s history lessons, whatever the impetus. Keep ‘em coming.
I don’t have to show you any stinkin’ merit badges !
I was a brownie and a girl scout
I’ve got something in my pocket, it belongs across my face.
I keep it very close at hand, in a most convienient place.
I’m sure you couldn’t guess it if you guessed a long, long while.
So I’ll take it out and put it on, it’s a Great Big Brownie Smile!
I think replay is good for sports when applied appropriately. However, I see no point in stopping a championship celebration to review a buzzer beating three point shot for the win to confirm that 0.01 should be put back on the clock in a three point game, and make a team come back on the floor to essentially lose the championship game twice. You can’t get a game tying three pointer off in 0.01, so what was the purpose? The buzzer went off when that ball went through the net. Game over. No need to to put that 0.01 back on the clock.
Congrats to Notre Dame on a tremendous Final Four achievement. First they came back from double digits down against unbeaten Connecticut to make it the the championship game. Then they game back from double digits again against Mississippi State to win the championship.
Go Irish!
