Random Thoughts: Comey Fallout

GOP not challenging Trump/Russia collusion, just mad we found out, threatening reporters.

GOPers who routinely leaked Benghazi probe are now blame shifting to media/leakers — like accusing someone of opening
their eyes during prayer.

Comey hearing done. Struck by how GOPers left themselves open to looking like they don’t give a crap Putin might own White House.

Spinning Spicer asserts officials found no evidence of Trump/Russia collusion but rejects their finding of no evidence Obama wiretapped.

Flip Flynn! Immunity could be worth getting the truth. Don’t need tea leaves in Comey hearing to see he’s at risk, a big target.

Question now hanging: will FBI question Trump about Russia ties? Order your impeachment tickets now.
A president faces an FBI investigation into whether his team joined forces with a hostile foreign govt to win. That’d be beyond Nixon.

Yeah Toby! Beautiful companion.

About Ivanka getting a WH office: she seems to be the only one who can “reach” #45. Sort of like when someone is holed up with a gun & threatening innocents, call in the loved one. Crisis mode. Nixon had his bottle of scotch, #45 has Ivanka.

sjwny, you’re right about that.  and so is this from Jamie in last thread:

It is becoming obvious that the “official” FLOTUS is strictly a display manikin for events while Ivanka will assume the actual role plus acting as co-President with her husband Jared.  My own opinion is that they are baby sitting a man whose mental capacities are steadily failing while raking in as much cash and influence as possible before getting thrown out on their rear.

usatoday: Melissa McCarthy is taking ‘notes’ on Spicer until her ‘SNL’ return

When Melissa McCarthy first spoofed Sean Spicer on Saturday Night Live, the sketch immediately went viral. A week later she topped it, turning the press secretary’s podium into a motorized press-pummeling device

Given that SNL is currently on hiatus until April 8, is she still plugged in to Spicer’s press conferences?

“I have yet to see today’s,” McCarthy told USA TODAY on Monday …… “I’ll see that later. Was it very clear and on point?” she deadpans.

Spicer’s press conferences have become must-watch TV; ratings initially topped daily soaps like The Bold and the Beautiful and General Hospital. The New Yorker just did a deep dive. Vanity Fair called Monday’s Spicer-led presser “mind-bending.”

[….]

McCarthy will return to SNL by May 13, when she’s scheduled to host, and until then, “I’m just watching and observing,” she says. “I (hope) for everyone to have clarity and better things to say. And in the meantime, I just squirrel away notes.”

boss, you speak of Nixon. how many out there even know about those days, were even born yet?

that was over40 years ago when [from wiki]The House Judiciary Committee opened impeachment hearings against the President on May 9, 1974, which were televised on the major TV networks. These hearings culminated in votes for impeachment…… In a statement accompanying the release of what became known as the “Smoking Gun Tape” on August 5, 1974, Nixon accepted blame for misleading the country about when he had been told of White House involvement, stating that he had a lapse of memory. Senate Minority Leader Hugh Scott, Senator Barry Goldwater, and House Minority Leader John Jacob Rhodes met with Nixon soon after. Rhodes told Nixon that he faced certain impeachment in the House.

today’s smoking gun is yet to emerge, but god willing it will and I hope sooner than later.   probably be a rusty jammed kalashnikov  ak-47 shooting alternative fact bullets.

LONDON, March 22 (Reuters) – A policeman was stabbed inside the perimeter of Britain’s parliament building on Wednesday, an assailant was shot outside and several people lay bleeding on a nearby bridge, Reuters witnesses and officials said.

A Reuters photographer saw at least a dozen people injured on Westminster Bridge and photographs showed people lying on the ground, bleeding heavily. The number of casualties was unclear.

The House of Commons, which was in session at the time, was immediately suspended and lawmakers were asked to stay inside.

Prime Minister Theresa May was safe after the incident, a spokesman for her office said. He declined to say where May was when the attack took place.

The leader of the House, David Lidington, said in the chamber that an assailant who stabbed a policeman had been shot by police.

Amid confusing scenes, it appeared the incident may have unfolded in several locations, including the busy bridge where tourists often congregate to take pictures of Big Ben and other attractions.

The incident took place on the first anniversary of attacks on Brussels in Belgium.

Reuters reporters inside parliament said a large number of armed police, some carrying shields, were pouring into the building.

the guardian:

Rex Tillerson: ‘I didn’t want this job … my wife told me I’m supposed to do this’

Secretary of state said he had not met Donald Trump before he was summoned to Trump Tower to discuss ‘the world’ and was offered the role

“I didn’t want this job. I didn’t seek this job,” Tillerson told the Independent Journal Review (IJR), in an interview conducted on his official plane during the three-nation Asia trip. “My wife told me I’m supposed to do this.”

He said he had not met Donald Trump before being summoned to Trump Tower after the surprise election victory, ostensibly to talk to the president-elect “about the world” and his experiences as an oil company CEO.

“When he asked me at the end of that conversation to be secretary of state, I was stunned,” he said, adding that at 65 years old, at the end of a four-decade career at ExxonMobil, he had expected to retire: “I was going to go to the ranch to be with my grandkids.”

Freedomn Caucus tells Pense to pound sand.  Vote on trumpdontcare act likely to be delayed – 25 of its members oppose the act as it’s written.

“Still, complications stemming from the bill’s last-minute tweaks appeared to add yet another political headache Wednesday, as veterans’ groups discovered that the latest draft might make them ineligible for a tax credit. A change made to ensure the measure would comply with Senate rules ensures that individuals can only qualify for the bill’s tax credits if they “are not eligible” for other types of coverage, including those provided Veterans Health Administration.”

We’re going to treat veterans so well…. yeah, looks like it.

nunes should be charged with leaking classified info to media. see Schiff quote below.

Bloomberg: Republican Nunes Tries to Give Trump Some Cover on Wiretap Claim

Almost two weeks after President Donald Trump’s tweets accusing his predecessor of wiretapping Trump Tower, the Republican head of the House Intelligence Committee tried to offer some support by saying that the president’s team was caught up in a U.S. surveillance net.

Representative Devin Nunes said Wednesday that the intelligence community collected multiple conversations involving members of Trump’s transition team during legal surveillance of foreign targets after he won election last year. Trump told reporters at the White House, “I somewhat do” feel vindicated by the latest development.

The intercepted communications weren’t captured through wiretaps — the president’s spokesmen had already abandoned that assertion — or through surveillance directed at Trump or his aides, Nunes told reporters at the Capitol before heading to the White House to brief Trump on his findings.

But Nunes said he was “alarmed” that the identities of Trump aides were revealed in intelligence community documents. “Details with little or no apparent foreign intelligence value were widely disseminated in an intelligence community report,” he said, adding that he didn’t know if Trump’s “own communications were intercepted.”

Then Nunes headed to the White House to brief the president on what he had learned. “I very much appreciate the fact that they found what they found,” Trump said.

The Intelligence Committee chairman is taking a risk in providing a measure of cover for the president. His committee is one of the congressional panels that’s supposed to be providing oversight of the investigation by the FBI and other agencies into Russian meddling in last year’s presidential campaign. Nunes said the surveillance that picked up Trump’s associates wasn’t aimed at Russia.

Nunes informed reporters and then the White House before briefing the rest of the Intelligence Committee, a situation that the panel’s top Democrat called a “profound irregularity.”

California Representative Adam Schiff said Nunes told him the names of U.S. citizens in the intercepted communications “were in fact masked, but that he could still figure out the probable identity of the parties.” He said, “this does not indicate that there was any flaw in the procedures followed by the intelligence agencies.”

The significance of Nunes’s disclosure was questioned even by a key Republican. “If the Trump campaign’s conversations are caught up in surveilling a foreign agent, there are rules about what you can release and who you can unmask,” Republican Senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina told reporters. “That’s different than having the Obama administration surveil the Trump campaign.”

Looking like Rep. Adam Schiff is presidential material.  His presser was excellent.  Even his pauses to gather thoughts to answer the press were real.

As for what the Russian agent Rep. Nunes did is something seriously wrong.  He should be brought up on some charges regarding releasing classified material.  There is no way the information did not have classification markings on it.

Again, there has to be one very big thing in his closet to make him into a Russian agent.

Ya know this is starting to feel like the time I worked at Juvie hall and the kids would try to defend each other and end up telling us way more than we really wanted to know.

Let me get this straight, Dev wanted to give a little cover to his buddy Donnie.  So he tells Donnie and all of us that there really was surveillance by one of our intelligence agencies.  It seems some Trump people were accidently recorded talking to a foreign agent but not Russia, some other country’s agent.

So what did we learn? Not only were the Trump people talking to the Russians but they also were talking to somebody that our intelligence service believe is bad ass enough to get a FISA warrant to spy on them.

Wow, that makes me more comfortable.

LOL

Really?, hey idiots quit digging.

Okay. I accept the rejection of slow and painful lethal injection for all these ripper foreign agents, spies, and saboteurs. The ancient romans liked to toss their prisoners from the top of the Tarpeian Rock, about 80 feet.
Simon Magus was not able to fly after all.
Anyway, tossing them from a high place could make good tv. Pay per view, of course. Maybe from 30,000 feet up w/a drone to view their expressions all the way down. splat. Very roman.
Prolly better to make them all just build a wall by hand between Arizona and Mexico. Call it the Great Wall of T.
