President Donald Trump is offering investors “the most exclusive dinner in the world,” and all they must do is buy at least $1 million of his cryptocurrency. It’s part of a contest launched this week, which promises the top 185 investors of the “Trump meme coin” will receive invitations to a dinner next month at a Trump golf club, where three mystery “legends” will attend.

  2. on other news from John Oliver last night

    Oct 5, 2026 #lastweektonight
John Oliver discusses the Secret Service, why they’re in a worrying state, and how ethernet cables became disturbingly crucial to the nation’s safety.

  3. Craig – there has to be a lot more to the story of why the planes are leaving UK. I don’t buy the mess of the guys running around in the night as the real reason. Add in the aircraft destroyed in the Iran sfb war (so far) and that leaves a lot of Europe without fast response and the Iran sfb war needing aircraft. Something the idiots in the administration either don’t know (most likely) or are not telling us (also most likely).

  4. Supreme Court to hear arguments in one of the most important climate change cases to reach its docket in years
The Supreme Court will hear arguments Monday in one of the most important climate change cases to reach its docket in years, a multibillion-dollar effort to hold major oil companies like ExxonMobil liable for the damages caused by planet-warming pollution.
The city and county of Boulder, Colorado, sued two energy companies in 2018, attempting to recover the cost of repairing infrastructure and providing access to public health services following fires and floods. Boulder argues the companies not only contributed to climate change but also misled the public about the role fossil fuels played in climate change.
Dozens of cities and states have filed similar lawsuits against oil companies, which warn the litigation amounts to a carbon tax that could ultimately bankrupt the energy industry.
It is the first case the court is hearing in a new term that begins Monday that features disputes over the AR-15 bans, religious schools and voting. A decision is expected by June.
Boulder claims that it is exercising inherent state police powers to protect the health and safety of its residents, and that the practice is not novel. Dozens of states sued the largest tobacco companies in the 1990s seeking damages and alleging deceptive practices — litigation that led to a massive settlement.
“This litigation is not an attempt to solve climate change,” Boulder told the court. “It merely asks that petitioners bear their fair share of local costs incurred in part because of their tortious conduct.”
Exxon and Suncor Energy, the US subsidiary of a Canadian-based company, say it has long been understood that greenhouse gas emissions are inherently an interstate challenge and that those principles effectively preempt state tort laws.
“As this court has consistently recognized, resorting to a single state’s law to resolve an inherently interstate dispute contradicts the basic scheme of the Constitution,” the energy companies said.
In an unusual twist, conservative Justice Samuel Alito announced last week that he would recuse himself from the case. Though he did not state a reason at the time, he later told Bloomberg News that he felt it was “prudent” to step away given his holdings in energy stocks. The decision opens the possibility of a 4-4 split that would, by default, allow the litigation to continue.

Exxon and Suncor filed the appeal at the Supreme Court last year after Colorado’s highest court sided with Boulder. If the US Supreme Court also backed Boulder, it wouldn’t be the end of the case; it would only permit the litigation to continue in state court.
If the court can’t find an answer to the big questions raised by the appeal, it could deal with the case in a more limited way. It’s not clear whether the appeal is ripe for Supreme Court review. If the court concludes that it’s too soon, that will send the case back to state courts — at least for now.

  5. Why Did U.S. Pull Bombers Out of UK?

    Brits Cite Iranian Threats
    Covering the Coverage

Mainstream outlets emphasize confirmation and uncertainty; tabloids sell urgency; military specialists examine operational costs. The absurdist contrast: Washington advertises worldwide striking power while bringing bombers home amid security fears in England. That contradiction invites scrutiny. Iranian involvement remains alleged, and the Pentagon has not publicly detailed the threat behind the withdrawal.

    • [Mainstream]: Emphasizes Pentagon confirmation and the investigation, framing the departure as a security development rather than declaring a military defeat. – CBS News
    • [Wire Service]: Centers the bombers’ return and suspected attack investigation, relying on Pentagon sourcing rather than dramatizing a retreat. – Associated Press via ABC News
    • [Local UK Business]: Calls it Trump’s “retreat,” then asks about pubs, hotels and residents—a revealing shift from global firepower to the neighborhood economy. – Punchline Gloucester
    • [Military Specialist]: Calls the departure hasty and supplies the practical catch: bombers can still strike from America, but Fairford shortened their flights. – Air & Space Forces Magazine
    • [Wire Service]: Uses restrained security language and includes Iran’s denial, preserving the distinction between confirmed aircraft movements and allegations about their cause. – Reuters via Investing.com
    • [British Tabloid]: Capitalizes “ALL” and foregrounds “new threats,” turning the scale and urgency of the withdrawal into the central attraction. – The Sun
    • [British Mainstream]: Highlights recently arrived aircraft leaving again, sharpening questions about the withdrawal’s urgency. – The Guardian
    • [International]: Emphasizes an abrupt withdrawal while acknowledging uncertainty about precisely what prompted it. – Al Jazeera
    • [Gulf-Based]: Frames Fairford as an Iran-war launchpad, pairing security fears with Washington’s insistence that global strike capability remains intact. – The National
    • [Conservative Tabloid]: “Yanks” and “foiled terror plot” deliver a more forceful, conclusive headline than competitors’ cautious language about a suspected plot. – New York Post

  6. Pretty thorough Old Berman episode today. First he covers all the polling numbers. Then he points out the traitorous chain of command responsible for Ms Now’s airing of the taxpayer funded Stump tv ad buys. ie Names names.
Then a long piece about the Frats and how they should have been totally abolished decades ago.

    And Thurber.

  7. Reverting back to standard time on Nov 1. I vote we just stay there.

The real driving force behind permanent Standard Time comes from health experts rather than politicians. Major medical organizations—including the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM) and the American Medical Association (AMA)—strongly oppose permanent DST. They actively lobby for permanent Standard Time because it aligns closer to natural human circadian rhythms. Medical data indicates that morning light is essential for healthy sleep, while year-round DST leads to dark winter mornings that can increase seasonal depression, traffic accidents, and metabolic issues.

Supreme Court Takes Colorado Climate Case
Why George Clooney is Targeting Jim Jordan
Ken Paxton NFL Ads and GOP Slush Funds

Boulder, Colorado climate lawsuit hits the Supreme Court while Ken Paxton floods Texas NFL games with millions in television ads.

We kick off the week watching the Supreme Court take up the historic lawsuit from Boulder, Colorado, aimed directly at big oil companies. If this strategy sounds familiar, it is the exact same legal playbook that finally cornered the tobacco industry. But the real money is burning up the airwaves in Texas, where Ken Paxton is dropping millions on NFL game ads to convince everyone he is the ultimate protector of children. It is a spectacular spending binge, even by modern political standards.

Meanwhile, the congressional closet is running out of room for all the skeletons. We track the long shadow of Dennis Hastert and the alleged taxpayer slush funds that Nancy Mace tried to expose before suddenly going quiet. We also look at George Clooney throwing his weight behind the HBO documentary Surviving Ohio State, bringing the harsh glare of reality right to the doorstep of Jim Jordan.

To wrap it up, we review Robert De Niro delivering a blunt assessment of federal troops on the streets of Minneapolis. When the official story leaves out the details, you have to dig them up yourself.

  10. What we can rely on is that won’t tell us a damn thing unless they are somehow forced to.
Epstein files? Defy an act of Congress by NOT TELLING.
ie Theyre not forced to yet.
Planes out of England? We will never know unless they are forced to tell, or someone squeals on them.

Going back to cave man days, a Nazi by any other name is still and always has been a Nazi

  11. Don’t overlook the fact that Susan Collins will be VERY concerned, and Schumer might even write a letter.

  12. New AARP poll has Jackson up three in Maine but I’m seeing a red flag below that topline:
A huge age split favors Collins unless young voters get more excited about turning out.

Jackson leads 60%–35% among voters under 50, while Collins leads 53%–44% among voters 50 and older. Her older voters report stronger turnout motivation: 87% of voters 50+ rated themselves a 10 out of 10 likelihood to vote, compared with 73% of younger voters.

  13. Well, I have a strategy, Sturge

I’m gonna use Larry Ellison’s networks and call half of the electorate rapists

Meta Blocks President Lula’s Facebook Page and Campaign Ads

The page is now back online, but Lula’s electoral coalition says Meta’s actions harmed the president’s campaign.

Meta disabled the Facebook page of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva on Wednesday. It also restricted the ad account linked to his campaign.

The platform gave no justification for the move, in its communications with Lula’s Workers’ Party. The PT and the “Brazil Ready for More” electoral coalition have demanded explanations.

In a complaint sent to Meta on Thursday, the campaign asked for the immediate restoration of the account “Eleições 2026 Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva Presidente,” which would allow the campaign to run and promote new ads and share audiences.

The legal team also asked that the measure be immediately submitted to “direct human review by analysts from the platform’s legal and compliance department.”

It also asked Meta to “immediately contain, freeze and preserve all digital evidence linked to the account, including log records and the full database of the account.”

The campaign’s lawyers and the party told the platform that the restriction “poses a serious risk to the candidate’s level playing field in the election.”

  15. Paxton’s name. Somebody else’s controls.

He says the campaign message comes from DC and he can’t change it. Texans might want to know who’s holding the remote.

  16. Paxton passing the buck on having little part in his own campaign sounds like he knows he’s gonna lose and wants to start preemptively pointing his finger.

He also sounds like when he passed the buck on the sweetheart deal he/his office gave to that pedo, Hoffman and said, “It wasn’t what we wanted. We did not control that situation.”

  18. Clooney Exposes Jim Jordan ➡️

If Jordan’s serious about running for House GOP leader it’s time to revive George Clooney’s HBO documentary dragging his Ohio State secrets into the light.

  19. Craig – during the last thirty-ish plus years the conglomerates have been buying and consolidating farm and ranch processing operations. Along with buying up farms and ranches. Economy of scale they said. The bigger the better. And, many more idiotic phrases. Local meat and poultry processors all gone, taken over by BIG business. Most of which had the corporate offices far away.

The plants industrialized processing cows, sheep, chickens, wheat, corn, soybeans, and more. Efficiency. There were centralized plants, no longer local or even one shared by a small region. Farms went from a few dozen to hundreds of acres to no more farm but a corporate area of thousands of acres devoted to one crop. When there is talk of the “family farm” the corporations are hanging their name plate as proof it is family run.

What we are seeing is climate change knocking that business model off the table. Along with the cleansing of America by the fascists. Clearing out all the people who made the business model work. No more cheap labor. No more crops coming in. No more cattle being shoved in to the holding cage. No more chickens – actually the chickens are doing okay, just more expensive.

But the entire structure is shaken and falling in places.

  20. Trump’s approval now at a career-low 32% in a new Reuters/Ipsos poll, with Hispanic voters souring sharply on both him and Republicans. His coalition is packing its bags. Nothing left but white supremacists.

  21. https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2026/sep/05/cuban-hunger-striker-ice-force-feeding

Typically, after a judge approves the request, detention center guards hold down a hunger striker while medical staff forcibly insert a tube through the person’s nose and down their throat, and pump nutritional liquid into their stomach.

But in this latest case in Texas, ICE also received permission to force-feed the Cuban hunger striker through a “percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy” tube insertion. This is a surgery in which medical staff make an incision in a person’s abdomen, insert a tube that remains in place indefinitely until it is surgically removed again and pump liquid directly into the stomach. This procedure has not been previously identified in other force-feeding cases reviewed by the Guardian.

“The cruelty of the extreme tactics at ICE’s disposal to end lawful protest, including forcibly cutting into a protester’s body to insert a tube in their stomach, underscores the horrors happening outside our view in ICE detention centers,” said Savannah Kumar, a staff attorney at the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) of Texas. “ICE’s brutal use of involuntary medical procedures on hunger strikers demonstrates how degrading conditions have gotten in these hidden places, which is often exactly what hunger strikers are protesting in the first place.”

Last month, the Guardian published a series of stories about the extent of ICE’s force-feeding practices under the second Trump administration, with the agency getting the green light to perform involuntary medical procedures in 18 hunger strike cases – and the latest being the 19th.

“The high number of verified court orders since January 2025 raises serious concern,” said Eunice Cho, an immigrant and civil rights attorney who has extensively documented forced treatment on hunger strikers in ICE detention.

Facing Backlash, Trump Says His Super PAC Will Pay for Taxpayer-Funded Ads
The president said that his PAC, MAGA, Inc., would pay for TV ads promoting him that had been paid for with taxpayer money

    …
    As if that’s better.

Dumbass has a start. He has 99% of white racists.

This ICE shit is ghoulish – just in time for Halloween. Think they’ll inject Turkey and the trimmings for Thanksgiving? You couldn’t get away with this shit on baby rapers in prison.

I wish I was more optimistic about the Exxon/Suncor suit, but if wishes were horses beggars would ride.

    One more from NYT.

    Nobel Prize week has begun
Karl Deisseroth, Peter Hegemann and Georg Nagel were awarded the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine today for developing a tool to switch on specific brain cells with pulses of light. Their pioneering work in optogenetics has led to functional maps of the brain, and may one day lead to a treatment for blindness. Here’s what to know about it.

The other five Nobel Prizes will be announced later this week, for work in physics, chemistry, economic sciences, literature and peace. This year, there were 287 candidates for the peace prize.

    287?

  23. Dumbass is live in Nebraska. Pretty soon they’ll only be able to take him to military bases like Lyndon Johnson had to do, where the audience can be court martialed if they don’t applaud.

  24. force feeding is a very sadistic form of torture

keeps you alive for more torture

    we really fucked up

  25. They sat atop a ‘grandmother’ tree for months. Border agents knocked it down.
Activists occupied a cottonwood tree in Arizona for more than two months in a standoff with U.S. Customs and Border Protection contractors.

  26. This afternoon, I took a drive in a very rural area of Michigan to an orchard I’ve been going to for 40 years for my apples and donuts.
This is just a little ways from Ann Arbor and not far from Adrian, which is a city where Corey has roots.
I saw zero Abdul El Syed campaign signs. But perhaps 50 Republican signs about 10 of those were for Mike Rogers and some houses had the whole Republican list of candidates in their yards on signs.
Had I driven on into Ann Arbor I would have seen a lot of el Sayed signs I bet you. But I didn’t have any business in Ann Arbor this trip. Kapnick’s Orchard, Britton, Michigan.

  27. Well, I just left a rant for Senator Thune.
(Leader, my Aunt Ida. Pfft.) Dumbass is calling on a foreign country to “take out” a city on US soil.

Stock up on supplies, folks, and plan to just hike up inside because it’s gonna be a sh/t show if it’s too big for Elon to rig this time.

  28. Almost no signs anywhere. A few Hamilton yard signs in a neighboring town, and a giant sign for the Dem gubernatorial candidate, Cindy Holscher, at the edge of a field.

But the mailers! So many, and mostly from the guy that Roger Marshall begged Dumbass to endorse for governor, Ty Masterson.

  29. Is Dumbass telegraphing their false flag…again?

Remember when something sinister was going to happen on the west coast? They said it would be drones. Then they put out the story about stolen drones. Folks weren’t buying it, poked holes in their story, the drone theft was a very inside job (military), and folks kept saying it would be a false flag…so the story went away.

Just like that staged photo of Big Balls after an alleged carjacking. These m-fkrz have cried “wolf” too often. They are a joke. A dangerous, effing joke.

  30. He’s obviously saying higher gas prices are a “small price to pay”, not an attack

I could think of 20 more legitimate impeachable offenses by Trump

I totally think he’s stupid enough to telegraph a false flag however

He never faces consequences so he’s arrogant

  31. I must readily concede that we are talking about the guy who encouraged Russia to hack our intelligence services.

  32. it’s crazy how people refuse to stop playing his game

  33. what nobody else is going to have the integrity to say is that “see what my critics say then” was implied after the “let them take out
    [whatever city] line”

but that’s not gonna drive the outrage machine

    the outrage machine demands fuel

  34. Craig’s like “look at how few people are at his rallies”

    Cut to international media coverage
