I’ve decided to take another short break from my design enterprise to post a topic of interest to me. I haven’t seen any (relevant) place where I can put this as a comment in the last few days, so I’m just going to take the bull(sh*t) by the horns.
I’ve become a fan of David Pakman’s YouTube channel recently and his stories about trumplestiltskins illiteracy have mirrored something that I’ve been thinking for quite a while.
I’ve said on this forum and elsewhere that I find it worrisome that he just signs whatever is put in front of him. He seems to just do what his people want him to do without any thought or foresight and certainly without any research on the issue…which would require reading. I’ve heard him say many times, off-handedly, that he doesn’t read and any time anyone asks him about a certain report, book, article or anything that required reading, he always says he hasn’t read it. It doesn’t appear to me that he even listens to audio books. The man has the attention span of a flea so any research that requires more than 5 minutes would be beyond his scope from what I’ve seen, read and heard!
Possible illiteracy, coupled with the fact that he can’t string 3 coherent sentences together when asked important questions, should worry any American with more than two brain cells! This man is a puppet president in many more ways than one. Russia may be the least of our worries if his incompetence isn’t addressed soon!
There are 3 (Pakman) videos on the illiteracy issue, and another couple that either mention the issue or other people’s (or countries’) responses to the issue etc. The 3 main videos are from Feb 2, 6, and 13 respectively. Wondering what everyone thinks about this issue or if anyone but me thinks that it is an issue.

Patd has listed all the options I’ve considered. At first I assumed some sort of dyslexia due to the obvious reading problems. Now some diminished mental capacity seems to enter in based purely on the repeated words and phrases that certainly reflect a coping mechanism. What is terrifying is that there doesn’t seem to be any effort to check his ability to function as President.

David Pakman makes a very compelling case for frump’s lack of reading ability. It explains much of his simplistic and oft repeated statements no matter the issue. He really needs to go back to the world his little mind has created…. anywhere but on earth.

I saw that interview with GWBush on YouTube and I never thought I would be impressed by him but he got to me! Sturg is right, little Georgie has grown up and sounds almost Presidential. I don’t think trumplestiltskin will ever impress me or sound Presidential, or even competent beyond a 4th grade level to me though, no matter how long I wait. LOL!

There have been movies and documentaries devoted to the subject of how illiterate people get by and even graduate from school etc. In his case, I’m sure he paid people to do papers for him at the very least. I doubt if he did anything other than just pass at Wharton.

Oh, and my RX was denied because they only pay for it if it’s for one, specific thing…and that’s not even what it was created for; they only help if it’s for some, odd, off-label use.

After quitting school at the age of 16 to become a welder in B’ham, Ala, me old Da rose, thru various and sundry circumstances to carry a biggish stick at the local naval shipyard……..he’d never read another “book” after quitting high school……..he could read the fuck out of instructional and technical data papers, though…..or so he said…….

yesterday at governors mtg in wh, he talked about it being hard to get into Harvard and wharton but not so hard once you’re there… this was during his spiel on how complicated healthcare issue is.

Actually, as much as I hate to admit it, drumpf was listed as receiving a BS in Economics from Wharton in the May 20, 1968 commencement program. (I looked at it to make sure he wasn’t just bullshitting us). He spent 2 years there after 2 at Fordham.
I always thought Wharton was the name of the graduate degree or the graduate business school and all he has is an undergraduate degree no doubt purchased for him

A lot of morons have blundered their way into college degrees. I personally know someone who graduated from college and is maybe, possibly, too close to call…stupider than trumplestiltskin. In my years in human services I ran across people who had faked their way through at least high school. There are lots of tricks these people use to get by. DT is rich enough to buy a lot of help. He is too enamored with himself to realize that he exposes his ignorance primarily when he speaks, but he’ll never shut up so I hope eventually that will bite him in the ass.

I did go to the tail-end of the Wharton program. Trump was not among those who received an honor or award for anything. Even my intellectually challenged daughter, Alice, received annual awards for being “Neither Absent nor Tardy.” At 50, alone in her trailer, several years ago she hanged herself on the day before Christmas Eve. I’m sure she was much more appreciated at work in her Waffle House than she would have been in in one of Donald’s establishments.
On a brighter note, I did have a cousin go to Wharton for his MBA. Not too long after, he did a stint in D.C. as an Asst Scty of the Treasury. He’s led a life of committed service.

Sturg, I did look at the article on the restaurant, as well as a sort piece in our paper on Friday that indicated that it would be a while before it was fully operational. Our paper didn’t mention anything about the corn likker and that kinda stuff.
I’ve never gone downtown exploring although I do drive through it on my way home from basketball games at USC (traffic on the freeway is crazy). The atmosphere is eclectic with people obviously having fun. Sue tells me that lots of college kids really enjoy the scene.
The new restaurant’s apparent reliance on crazy boozing is inconsistent with the strong university and active duty military presence in Columbia. A Gullah theme will draw widespread interest. Why spoil it?
if he repeats that bs (which is the real degree Wharton awarded him) about “tighten our belts” in speech tonight, he better announce he’ll start with reimbursing the taxpayers for the costly security detail accompanying his grown sons business trips. he could throw in that he’ll make use of camp david instead of his expensive weekends in palm bch. maybe move wife & son to wh and temporarily vacate tower as a small gesture to and big savings for nyc taxpayers.

When President Trump makes his fourth trip to his club in Florida, he will have spent more money on those trips alone ($13 million) than former President Obama spent during an entire year on travel ($12.1 million).
Trump’s recently complained that the country’s finances were a mess, and he promised to cut government waste and get the government’s finances cleaned up. If President Trump is serious about cutting government waste, his first move should be to stop taking needless trips to his winter vacation home at taxpayer expense.
It’s no skin, of course, off my nose, I mean, my axe doesn’t need grinding and my ox is extremely removed from being gored, but given my familiarity with the nature of true Gullah cuisine and culture, I wonder about whether the establishment will have anything Gullah to it besides the name.

Thinking about the latest pondering on the ‘net – ‘how badly will drumpf blow the speech?’ and it is not quite as exciting as first reading makes it. We can be assured of 50% will hate it, considering they hate it already and nobody has seen the leaked version yet. Add in Republicans (big R) who are scared to be part of the destruction of America, we should see an additional group bringing it to about 75%.
So the number we are looking at is 25%! Will Mr. Peebody really piss off his base of 25%? Now we are working at the level of ‘how badly will drumpf blow the speech?’. Only 25% is starting the evening on his side. I give him credit for using his oratory skills of a sixth grade bully to knock out a few more. Say 5% give up, he is now at 20%. Over the night, and we know he has the stamina of Hitler to give long winded speeches, maybe by hour two he says ACA removal is planned for 2018, I say another 5% can it. Down to 15%.
From 15% I find it hard to knock anymore off his love list. Much of the rest will be trade-offs. MJ yes gets 2% off and 1% on, a net of -1%, still not much. Maybe he Says something sincere about the attacks on people of color, and Jewish. He loses 5% of his base, but gets back 2% of the R’s.
The only way the premise comes true is if he blows off enough to get a 10% love rating.

Renee, my bookend states are pretty dismal. Could be worse I guess …. at least there were a few below AL (MS, LA) and WV (KY). Glad I got to live in NH, ME & VA between them.
Watching the pre-show with the talking heads — there’s really no way to draw a bar as low as it needs to be drawn – it’s obvious that everyone is hoping to sweet Jesus that he comes through and acts somewhat Presidential. Although not likely, if he does – the bar is so low it will be covered as if we just heard an “ask not what your country can do for you” – this is going to be nauseating.

Massachusetts is a great state. I loved spending time there. When LP was at Berkeley College of Music a few years back. Spending 2 weeks plus 3 weekends in Boston was terrific. Of course I had spent a great deal of time there when I was bouncing back-and-forth between New Hampshire and Maine from 1983through ’89 so I knew it was gonna be a lotta fun. I love NE. I just wish the winters were less … ummmm … wintery.
