Foxitis. Foxmania.

Addicted fox user derangement is a 21st century phenomena commonly referred to as F.U. or U.F’d syndrome.

Symptoms: inability to think for oneself, uncontrollable urge to lie, unable to discern reality, increasing aggressive behavior and obsessive compulsion to storm government buildings.

Epidemiology: highly contagious, episodic, acute or chronic

Treatment: Change channels often, watch PBS and listen to NPR at least one hour daily, read national newspapers and expand social contacts to include a variety of viewpoints.

Prophylactic and potential cure to alleviate pain of withdrawal and possible recovery:

  1. remove from home and vehicle all items triggering the disease.
  2. daily chant 10 times every 8 hours “trump is a sore loser.”

  1. Bill kicks off Mother’s Day weekend with jokes about the GOP’s identity crisis and an errant Chinese rocket.

  2. Americans broadly agree that major cable TV sources, large newspapers are part of mainstream news media

and interesting excerpt on above poll from

Poll: Americans consider Fox News, NYT, CNN, MSNBC ‘mainstream media’ | TheHill

“Notably, while the term ‘mainstream media’ has been used in many partisan contexts, there is wide agreement between Republicans and Democrats about whether the outlets in the survey are part of the mainstream news media or not,” the study’s authors wrote.

“Three-quarters of Republicans and Republican-leaning independents see Fox News as part of the mainstream media, as do 72% of Democrats and Democratic leaners,” they added.

The study also found that the more viewers rely on a news outlet as their main source of political news, the more they think of it as mainstream.

The only exception to that rule was the conservative network Newsmax.

“Newsmax stands out,” the authors said, “because a majority of those who name it as their main source say it is not a part of the mainstream media (84%); only 16% say it is.”

  3. I thought it was F.’d U.  because, well, it is. I can’t wait for the expert testimony about the syndrome. That will be the height of junk “science “.

And I’d have loved to be in that Zoom hearing. I really don’t rate his chances for success as good.

  4. pogo, you’re probably right on the correct sequence for the effs and u’s.  i imagined it as “user (you’re) f**ked”

  5. this morning, an analysist who’s also a crim defense atty equated foxitis with trump-itis (already used quite a number of times now by charged insurrectionists).  both words are short for “trump told me to do it” since faux news is understood to be his spokes-network disseminating his vision, orders and directives.

  6. The Gaetz-Greene lunacy tour……..it’s going to be just like “Spinal Tap”.

  7. OMG…  just when you think that things can’t get crazier….  they do!  As if any self respecting judge will fall for that bullshit…  right Pogo…

  8. Current media is going looney with the rest of us. It is what drives “clicks/eyeballs” there is no way to measure those of us who have just tuned out. I’m about to cancel my monthly payment to the local NPR station as I find their current daytime lineup to be unlistenable. More and more when I’m driving around town I just hit the off button and say never mind.
You’ve either got to be the woke left or the crazy right in this world and I’m neither.
    Jack

  9. Pat
Thanks for carrying the burden here for Craig. I will see if I can’t come up with something for next week to help you out.
    Jack

  10. Jack…  I feel like you do.  I’m obviously not a crazy Q wing nut…  but I’m not some ultra left progressive either.  It’s getting harder and harder for me to watch cable news.  If I watch it’s usually MSNBC…  but I’m tired of how manipulative it is and it’s always trying to keep us agitated to keep our eyeballs on the shows.

I’ve started to retreat more and more into the craft world…  and I find I’m busier…  but happier.

Methinks like a lot of people… this pandemic has made me reassess my priorities.

  11. It is a beautiful day, I’m going to drink my last cup of coffee on the front porch and enjoy the neighborhood
    See ya later
    Jack

  12. NPR is in the tough spot of having to appear balanced while appeasing the granola-eaters that pay their bills, afternoons are for oldies radio! *slidesteps and snaps*

  13. The radio tailored for a white audience, ‘round these parts, is so milquetoast i listen to the black and Mexican stations, not because i’m very woke, but because i need to be entertained behind the wheel, drivers are so bad now🤮

Also, i suppose the only opposition media that i’m able to tolerate is actually conservative and Christian talk-radio, because in the car it’s acceptable to yell out “WHAT IN THE $&*! ARE YOU INBREDS TALKING ABOUT?!”

    …it’s cathartic.

Hey, did you know the “Rush Limbaugh Radio Show” still airs? They run clips of dead El Rushbo lying from the grave, interspersed with callers praising Rush’s departed genius, it is one heck of a trip, man

  14. One Christian radio show i listened to taught me about how my “Heaven body” will differ from my “Earth body” and from what i gather, i am going to be super-sexy: muscles for days, full head of luxurious, luminous hair, sounds like no eczema to worry about… i am going to be hittin’ the clubs on the daily

  15.
    Bink
Do all the clubbing you want because heavenly booze gives no hangover just a constant high.
The after life is all good even in Hell.
    Jack

  16. All the heavenly babes will be like, “Hey, who is that muscle-y guy with the luminous coif flapping around over there?”

…to which St. Peter might reply, “Oh you mean the scrawny, balding guy that got hit in the head with a errant Chinese rocket booster?  That’s the gentleman known by his online persona ‘Bink’!”

…and then all the heavenly babes will be like “oh yeah, i remember his acerbic and irreverent wit, now it’s all just muscles”

  17. i’ll be so excited to start having all sorts of wholesome Heaven sex in my new, super-sexy Heaven body, and some Angel sibling will probably tell me something like, “Yeah, so, we don’t actually have sex in Heaven, we mostly just praise Him and sing.”

…to which i’ll reply, “Well, i do enjoy music, and i wasn’t having too much sex towards the end, there, so, what kind of music?”

…and they will say unto me “Oak Ridge Boys, mostly”

…and i’ll likely respond “meh, not a fan, what do they play in hell?”

…”’Wagon Wheel’, all Goddamned day, every day”

  18. jack, thanks for tomorrow’s musical goodie. will publish 1st thing in the morning.  am looking forward to whatever else you can think of for us while fearless leader is away from the trail.

also looking forward to any and all other mixer thread contributions.

A ransomware attack caused one of the nation’s biggest fuel pipeline operators to shut down its entire network on Friday, according to two U.S. officials familiar with the matter.
The attack on Colonial Pipeline, which carries almost half of the gasoline, diesel and other fuels used on the East Coast, appears to have been carried out by an Eastern European based criminal gang — DarkSide.
Federal officials and the private security firm Mandiant are still investigating the matter, said one official and another person familiar with the matter.
Colonial Pipeline said in a statement on Friday that it had temporarily shut down all its pipeline operations after being hit by a cyber attack. It said it had notified law enforcement and other federal agencies.
Colonial’s 5,500 miles of pipelines carry fuel from refineries on the Gulf Coast to customers in the southern and eastern United States. It says it transports 45 percent of the fuel consumed on the East Coast, reaching 50 million Americans.

  21. heads up. the sky is falling

    yahoo news:

The rocket body’s reentry is currently projected at anywhere between 7:30 p.m. ET and 1:30 a.m. ET, according to the latest U.S. Space Force data.

The U.S. Space Force has projected four possible orbits for reentry in play — three over water, one over land.

Potential landings over land are subject to change, but currently include the Southeastern U.S., Mexico, Central America, the Caribbean, Peru, Ecuador, Colombia, Venezuela, parts of Southern Europe, much of Northern and Central Africa, the Middle East, Southern India and Australia.

  22. No snewz near me.  Weather on Channel 4 at fifty-two minutes after five am.  Gave up on MSNBC, too many republicans.  My Hulu, Amazon Prime, Netflix and YouTube accounts get worked out all day long.  There are so many shows I never watched that I am now enjoying.  I am a very solid Dem vote, never a r shall be checked.  I am tired of the garbage, and I am very tired of the jokes of cable and networks only scheduling gqp and no Dems.

Former President Obama on Saturday announced that his family’s first White House dog, Bo, has died.
“Today our family lost a true friend and loyal companion. For more than a decade, Bo was a constant, gentle presence in our lives—happy to see us on our good days, our bad days, and everyday in between,” Obama tweeted.
Bo, a Portuguese water dog, was born in 2008 and lived for 12 years.
The Obamas were gifted Bo at the beginning of Obama’s presidency in 2008.
He tolerated all the fuss that came with being in the White House, had a big bark but no bite, loved to jump in the pool in the summer, was unflappable with children, lived for scraps around the dinner table, and had great hair,” Obama tweeted.
“He was exactly what we needed and more than we ever expected. We will miss him dearly,” Obama added.
The Obamas have another dog named Sunny, whom they adopted in 2013 after Obama was reelected.
Whether they’re cuddling up with me on the couch or rolling around in the backyard, I love these two balls of fur. Happy #NationalDogDay to Bo and Sunny!” former first lady Michelle Obama tweeted in 2019.

  25. The problem with having a GOP loaded up with conspiracy and crazy is that it brings out the worst of the wackos among the Democrats.  That way lies anarchy.  Just like the economy, US politics are better with a strong healthy middle.

  26. The New Normal –

    Defining the new normal
Every 10 years NOAA releases a new set of “climate normals” — what is considered normal, typical or average weather in a given location at a given time of year. To ensure that these normals are not subject to the ebb and flow of yearly weather, these averages are based on 30-year time periods to even out any short-term swings. ………………………
But some climate scientists, like Michael Mann of Penn State, don’t love the system of reporting new normals. As he told The Associated Press, Mann prefers using a constant baseline because updating what is normal for present-day conditions obscures the long-term warming trend and makes the warming due to climate change seem less significant. “Adjusting normal every 10 years perverts the meaning of ‘normal’ and ‘normalizes’ away climate change,” said Mann.

For those keeping score the “New Normal” began last Tuesday.

  27. So I just spent time once again with John Ford, Ben Johnson ,  Harry Carey JR. , and John Wayne .
And his best actor  of all time , the Monument Valley, in Technicolor.
If you ever get the chance, turn right off I-40  going West bound, right after you leave Gallup and cross the state line into Arizona.  Look for the sign that says , “Mexican Hat” .  I promise , this is one of the Great Roads of the World.

  28. patD – I submitted something (possibly twice-oops)  with no “sell by” date, so fit it in whenever you need it.   Thanks for being the gatekeeper.

  29. Tornado Alley seems to have moved in an easterly direction.  Not that they still don’t happen straight up the center of the country, starting in Texas, but MS and AL seem to get hit harder every year.
    Crazy windy here today.

  30. The AA has what are called , “Speakers Meetings” . Sort a like church . The crowd , and pulpit  thing.
There I sat  with all the drunks , watching some poor soul recount his descent into being a drunk.  Drinking -up the list .
Family, wives, children , friends , homes  , jobs , arrests , jails ……. etc.
So at that  meeting the speaker ran through the list and paused , and I said out loud  , “And then my dog died”.
The whole room broke into laughter, we all understood that a dog can love you  even if you’re a drunk.  And that is the end of your rope.

  31. Tanqueray— it’s like talking to Keith Richards about how to keep the band together.

  32. So the NewsHour did  report on  why the Right has gone mad , ( even madder ).
It turns out it’s very old reason.
A study from the U of Chicago  on the capital invasion.  The study group was all the people arrested.
Turns out what they fear most is being “Replaced”.
That people of color will run the show.
It explains a great deal about what we are seeing.  I looked for the clip , but couldn’t find it.
A fellow at the U of C has been studying political violence for 30 years.
Those 440 folks  are not who we think they are.
This goes right back to slave auction block.   When the planters inspected the teeth of 20 year old black men stripped naked in irons.  These were the most expensive , like a great stud horse .
Of course these planters understood these men were a threat to to their very lives.  And violence was their only way of keeping the their upper hand.
Then they sold off the women, in the same manner.
White people fear  the take over of our country  by people of color .  They fear in their bones this old America Snake .  Curled around the legs of the table.

This is why Trump came after Obama.

  33. A lot of revolutionaries are just bored nudniks looking for thrills, Capitol riot no exception

  34. and then……some revolutionaries ride that midnight train to Moskva and start rubbin’ out the pains in the ass.

  35. that cheesey roman senate pulled their own britches down and made it impossible for Julius to do anything other than step his horse across the Rubicon.   His choice was personal destruction or throw the dice and damn the tore-peckers, full speed ahead…….He was pretty hip, he followed the great god, Necessity.

  36. I have every beer can from the entire pandemic.
It, and   reefer  tamp down the pain.
    Body and mind.
All that jumpin’ out of helicopters , and crashing cars and bicycles  really wares out your tie rods.

  37. One of the great arts is being able to let things escape notice of the great god, Necessity.

  38. first time i wenty up in a helio-copter i rode it like a coast guarder oughta ride it…..but afterwards, I was given a choice and I opted for C-130’s and the Albatross Seaplane.

But I was actually so much older then….

  39. Another winner and she’s a State Senator. The danger is full-fledged Authratarion rule with Republicans. We see they will use even their phony religions to remain in power. Every major election will now be challenged.

  40. I never for the first nano-second trusted those whirling blades……it was something hell sent

  41. I didnt trust the ones on the airplanes either but you know youre faced with a choice……this or that, shithook; what’s it goina be

  42. Bink –
You’re in the cheap seats  of America history , if you think that.

Fear drives everything they do now.  Like Emmit in 55′  and Tulsa in the 20’s  , the idea of white women , and black men  drives them crazy .
Sex is a very big part of this entire  saga.

  43. that replacement theory also seems to apply too to why mccarthy started dumping on liz –  there had been talk that she was touted to be in line for being speaker next time GOPers won the house back.

it’s not just that the white guys are afraid of being replaced by more colorful folk, those same guys are even more afraid of being replaced by women.  examples:  the lengths they went to to do in hillary and the hatred they’ve stirred up about nancy.

  44. BiD, thanks, got it and don’t worry about the duplicates, they are no longer.  you’re final draft will run monday unless fearless leader returns to the fold by then and needs to share with the congregation.

open invitation to any and all mixers who wish to witness and walk down this lonesome thread trail are welcome.   come forward. no need to put anything in the collection plate.  after which we will all sing that great hymn “bringing in the sheets”

  45. Ha! When I was a kid and heard “sheaves,” I thought it was the plural of sheep.  I wasn’t sure why we were bringing them in or happy about it.

  46. Let’s hope this concert will get younger folks off of the vaccination fence.  Prince Harry saying we need to be concerned about the rest of the world getting vaccinated, too, might make some Americans want to get a vaccine so nobody else can have one.  If that doesn’t work, some folks are handing out gift cards if folks will get their shot.   Americans are weird.

  47. Patd –
I grew up hearing  “sheep”  , not sheaves .  A sheave  is the stack of grain  piled in the field to dry .

  48. You’re in the cheap seats  of America history , if you think that.

    …better view of the field🤷‍♂️

  49. THE TM FISH CAMP

I spent a few days looking around , and discussing with my friends over at Craig Crawford’s Trail Mix. how we might band together to help the Haitian people.
I was talking about how there is a solar oven factory on Haiti supported by Rotary Int. While looking into this story closer, I came across ShelterBox. Another project of Rotary. We found it to be such smart idea, and such a lean organization, that this is what we are supporting.
I have built a couple of web pages to pool $10.00 donations into the amount needed to pay for one of these boxes. They are numbered , so the donors can follow where they are delivered.

I have set up a page called ” The TM Fish Camp ” to purchase and follow where the box goes. The cost is around $800.00 per box . The fund raising platform is in England , so you donate in pounds , not dollars, current exchange rates are around $10 = 6.30 British pounds. They do Paypal & Credit Cards.
Then we reach 500 pounds , I will buy the TM Fish Camp’s first box, and post it’s story there. Then, we raise another 500 pounds and buy another one.

This is a big one for me, any help we can get will be greatly appreciated .

    The TM Fish Camp

  50. I was making  blogger sites  as a learning experience back then.  I made the “Floating Fatheads File ” , just to  watch head shots of wingnuts floating in space.

Blogger is dead as boot , the TM Fish Camp  was in the boat.

  51. Night all .
Buckle yer chin strap . tighten  yer seat belt .
Make sure your seat back tray is in the upright and locked position.
Never wear hose and heels while flying.  Only cotton , and running shoes.
Remember your seat cushion  it a floatation device , in the event of a water landing.

  52. Of all the things we wear , ………… cotton is the slowest to burn or melt in a Jet-A fire.
If you wear panty hose and heels.  You die first.
