There Is Nothing Complicated About Equality

While trying to absorb all that is happening in the immediate, and how it came to be starting in November 2016, I cannot help but cheer on technology.  The invasive cameras are providing a lot of accountability which has not been provided before.  Even during these last couple of days dirty cops are being exposed.  From the top officers to the rookies, cops doing bad things now have no way to say “who do you trust, me or the criminal with the head beaten in for resisting arrest?”  Video from many cameras is forcing action in spite of the vocal denials of some.

That cops have done damage to many people of color and LGBTQ people and poor people has been the normal.  When you are afraid of police you avoid police.  You do not help them, you will do anything you can to not have to deal with them.  The cold-blooded murder of a young black man filmed by many cameras came after other young black men were killed by dirty cops, the deaths viewed by millions of people who never had seen death before. 

I read a little thing a day or so ago.  It went something like “if it is so hard to get an arrest in an obvious murder with many videos think how hard it is on a dark night on a back road”.

The combined effects of unemployment and a president and Senate majority leader refusing to help people of color and LGBTQ people and poor people AND middle-class people made for a tornado.  People who had never faced hunger now do.  They look and can see the actions of dirty cops, white supremacists in the Congress and White House and dismissal by republicans.  America was built on protest.  And now we are seeing it happen. 

For some of us this is another in a long history.  I saw Detroit burning, I was in the middle of the riot there.  Others saw Los Angeles, D.C., Chicago and other cities burning too. But this is different.  From the Women’s March in January 2017, to June 2020 this protests have become more diverse.  People from all places are saying I am tired of being pushed around. I am not afraid to say things have to change.

Please remember this month, June, is Pride month for LGBTQ people. The people of color who are LGBTQ are always hurt more.

This pandemic has equalized a lot of pain.

And I learned if your opponent gets you to play his or her game on his or her court, they win. Violence is not our game. That’s Trump’s game. Insults, that’s Trump’s game. That’s not our game. Let’s don’t play that game.

  2. Patd – Juneteenth is a very important date.  This year it will be attacked by SFB and his cult members with a political rally in the city which ninety-nine years ago held a massacre of Black people.

If a state still has polling places, one of the best things they could do is train local guardsmen to man/woman the polls and act as poll watchers.  Make sure there are enough bodies to handle the process.  We do that for other third world countries. The least we can do is provide the same security for our own elections.

    Tulsa was picked especially because tRUMPublicans want a flash-point for violence…and because he knows everyone will then watch to see what happens.    I won’t listen to a word out of his lying pie-hole and I won’t watch the rally.   There will be media there, and, there will be citizen journalists with cellphones.     America is better than you, your evil minions, your devil spawn and your propper-uppers, SFB.     If he barricades himself in the WH, if the baby gate he had installed is just the first fortification of his eventual refusal to leave, can we just cut the power and water, and, tell GrubHub not to make any deliveries to 1600 PA Ave?    I’m sure he’s too stupid to realize that the power of the office does not actually reside in a physical office.   Let him stay in the swamp where scum belongs.

BiD – Over time I have seen development replace monuments, some were war remembrances, such as WWII Sherman tanks.  Pulled out and replaced with trees or a playground.  Others became part of a subdivision or redevelopment.  Replacing the symbols of treasonous military leaders with anything else is good.  I read an article stating that we need to look at the Soviet Union and how they handled the old statues.  Basically take them to a hole, put them in the hole and let the public view them as long ago things no longer in power.

    Rick and I are still taking the virus seriously.  A few days ago I ran across one of the friends that we went to breakfast with every Sunday.  This coming Monday, that restaurant is opening up for sit down dining indoors (at 50% capacity).  We both said there’s no way we were going back there until this thing is over.
