Non Words = Non People

If the word is not there to hear it, that which it named does not exist?

“But I don’t want to go among mad people," Alice remarked. "Oh, you can’t help that," said the Cat: "we’re all mad here. I’m mad. You’re mad." "How do you know I’m mad?" said Alice. "You must be," said the Cat, "or you wouldn’t have come here.” ― Lewis Carroll, Alice in Wonderland

  1. So SF’s CDC is forbidding certain words from the CDC budget next year?  Good god.  It just gets worse and worse.

  2. I am starting to wonder about McCain still being hospitalized. I hope the greedy old perverts do not decide to do the “roll the hospital bed in to the chamber” so McCain can give a thumbs up to the tax cut for billionaires vote.

With the continuing censorship of the federal government by sfb (no need to be bold anymore) there will be a continuous building of parallels with Nazi Germany and the Soviets.  Why would transgender be so powerful that the moron will not all us to be mentioned in the federal government anymore?  I am starting to think there might be some movies of sfb doing a Renee Richards imitation.

  3. about to be applicable to our times may be the status of “nonperson” as described by wiki:

A nonperson is a citizen or a member of a group who lacks, loses, or is forcibly denied social or legal status, especially basic human rights, or who effectively ceases to have a record of their existence within a society (damnatio memoriae), from a point of view of traceability, documentation, or existence.

    […]

In Nazi extermination camps, Jewish people and Romani were treated as nonpersons. The purpose of these camps was to systematically dehumanise these unwanted elements, use them where possible, and dispose of them efficiently. “Nonperson” status was required because it removed the moral and social obstacles for committing otherwise objectionable acts of violence, crime, abuse, and murder.

    [….]

A “nonperson” status can also be consciously or unconsciously applied to unwanted persons (demonization) by their surrounding society. This can be extended and applied to an entire nation or ethnic group, as often happens in wars or other conflicts.

This was the situation in the Nazi state with regard to Jews, and in most societies with regard to gypsies, and it is often applied in times of war to the entire enemy nation; its people are stripped of their “person status” and demonized, making them appear to be sub-human (not humans), and thus indirectly rationalizing any excess or abuse committed against them. Similar cases, concerning contra-revolutionaries, are found in most socialist states.

and by merriam-webster: Definition of nonperson

: a person who is regarded as nonexistent: such as
    a : unperson
b : one having no social or legal status

more from the above wapo link:

Policy analysts at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta were told of the list of forbidden words at a meeting Thursday with senior CDC officials who oversee the budget, according to an analyst who took part in the 90-minute briefing. The forbidden words are “vulnerable,” “entitlement,” “diversity,” “transgender,” “fetus,” “evidence-based” and “science-based.”

    […]

Other CDC officials confirmed the existence of a list of forbidden words. It’s likely that other parts of HHS are operating under the same guidelines regarding the use of these words, the analyst said.

At the CDC, several offices have responsibility for work that uses some of these words. The National Center for HIV/AIDS, Viral Hepatitis, STD, and TB Prevention is working on ways to prevent HIV among transgender people and reduce health disparities. The CDC’s work on birth defects caused by the Zika virus includes research on the developing fetus.

  4. bbronc, better look in the mirror and see if you still exist.

the times they are agetting scary for anyone on those official unwording lists.

  5. the hill:

Rep. Gwen Moore (D-Wis.) on Saturday ripped the Trump administration’s reported decision to ban the use of certain words and phrases from official Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) documents, calling the move “disturbing and offensive.”

“This is deeply disturbing and offensive. Shame on you, @realDonaldTrump,” Moore wrote on Twitter.

    […]

Planned Parenthood ripped the list on Saturday, calling it “unimaginably dangerous” and “reckless,” and warning that banning the use of such words could hinder the CDC’s ability to address public health concerns.

  6. Good for WAPO getting this story. Makes you wonder how much similar crazy stuff going on throughout the government. Need more reporters tasked off the shiny objects and onto this below-the-radar remaking of govt. At least savagery in judicial appointments getting more attention, with the nominee who apparently went to law school in a coma.

  7. Eprof

So very sorry to hear of your daughter’s passing.

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family

    jace

  8. Now that this has made the MSM, all media outlets worth their salt can repeat those words over & over until Donny’s ears bleed.  (This actually smells of Mike Pence.)

Perhaps some forbidden limericks are in order.

We’re Americans & if Trumpco doesn’t understand what being told to shut up about something (or telling someone else they can’t make a peep) does to ignite our souls, well…I guess the Russkies wouldn’t understand.

  9. patd – I looked in the mirror, something I try not to do once I started getting away from size 12 on my way to 22, what I saw was #Resist.  I am a federal employee and I represent LGBTQ people as part of my job.  I am waiting for the executive order to my department to make me a nonperson; I told many earlier this year that sfb would do this.  The next step is to try to fire us. There is a lot going on to protect LGBTQ employees.  We are looking  back decades for how things worked then.  Also, what happened under the village idiot with the purge of gays from the Department of Justice in 2002 on.

  10. instead of eliminating essential words, why didn’t they offer politically correct (in their view) euphemisms?

George carlin had a great rant on euphemisms…. wonder what he would have said about today’s non words list.

bid, yep we could use some good limericks and comedy routines to humiliate with humor the thought police.

  11. The mentally VULNERABLE Cheeto-In-Chief, has decided to become a word thief

Free speech is an ENTITLEMENT, DIVERSITY is not alright with Trump

So…TRANSGENDER, EVIDENCE-BASED, SCIENCE-BASED, FETUS, FETUS, FETUS, you chump

  12. Yes, Word-Thief-In-Chief sounds about right.

I think he’s obsessed with Lil’ Kim because he’s like to have that kind of control over this country.

  13. I suppose that if you don’t say it it’s not true would be the inverse of if you say it it’s true, which of course is what sf believes about everything he sez.

  14. Why not make it an offense to use the words narcotics, marijuana, molestation, rape, yellow showers, investigation, and impeachment in the DoJ ?
