More than 11,000 unionized television and movie writers will go on strike starting Tuesday in a move that could bring Hollywood studios and networks to a halt.
The Writers Guild of America’sdecision to carry out the first industry-wide strike in 15 years comes after weeks of negotiations over writer compensationbetween the guild and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP), which represents Hollywood production companies.
“Though our Negotiating Committee began this process intent on making a fair deal, the studios’ responses have been wholly insufficient given the existential crisis writers are facing,” theWGA said on Twitter, adding it had pulled the trigger after six weeks of negotiations with Netflix, Amazon, Apple, Disney, Discovery-Warner, NBC Universal, Paramount and Sony.

But these Republican justices have surrendered that role, taking power away from the people and giving it to an out-of-control gerrymandered Republican supermajority in the legislature. I will not stop fighting so the voters choose their representatives, not the other way around.”
Women may be the last, hope for democracy. You can’t gerrymander by gender. Of course, Republicans could push to reveal the 19th Amendment, I guess.
It has become so clear Republicans know they cannot persuade enough voters to gain power in a Democracy. So they’re just going to take it.
