pogo – Not sure about Earache, but Cokey McSnorts-a-lot Jr. may be out of pocket for awhile, as in hell-to-pay, if evangelicals actually believe in God.
“The former president’s son told a crowd that the teachings of Jesus have “gotten us nothing.”
“And the former president’s son has a message for the tens of millions of evangelicals who form the energized base of the GOP: the scriptures are essentially a manual for suckers.”
“We’ve turned the other cheek, and I understand, sort of, the biblical reference—I understand the mentality—but it’s gotten us nothing.”
Whined the spoiled, white boy to the white fools in the audience.
NY Mag also had this to say about the subject of that atlantic piece:
We have grown accustomed to the irony of conservative Christians all but idolizing a politician who is the most heathenish public figure of our generation, inordinately proud of his power over women in particular and supposedly lesser beings generally and incapable of confessing a single sin or weakness or defeat. But it’s still a bit jarring to hear this chip off the old block openly calling for an ethic of hatred, resentment, and vengeance against his imagined persecutors.
There is, of course, an ancient tradition in right-wing politics and culture of loudly proclaiming fidelity to Christianity while strategically ignoring its less convenient tenets. The authoritarian tradition of the 20th century, which so many of us fear the MAGA movement emulates, was conspicuous for promoting an extremely un-Christ-like worship of violence and repression in the name of defending “traditional Christian culture.” Adolf Hitler spoke of valuing “positive Christianity,” by which he meant the few teachings of Jesus Christ that did not directly contradict his gospel of racism, nationalism, and total war as a biological necessity. The Trumps aren’t typically articulate enough to promulgate a similar revision of the faith and may not personally subscribe to the crude racism and nationalism they relentlessly and cynically exploit. But it’s clear they appeal to a sort of cafeteria Christianity in which conservatives are encouraged to downplay or simply forget about the Jesus who condemned blood-and-soil loyalties on behalf of a universal ethic of love.
new golden rule: “do unto others before they do unto you”
Joe Manchin is another one who professes to be a Christian, but doesn’t walk the walk. Why do folks buy into what they’re selling?
The buy in here is not that strong. We’re inundated by ads thanking Joe for this that and the other vague thing, funded by Stop Citizens United / Let Americans Vote or something like that. I really haven’t figured that connection out yet.
Habitat for Humanity sold its first 3D printed home that took just 12 hours to print and is estimated to have saved 15 percent per square foot in building costs.
On Dec. 21, Habitat for Humanity Peninsula and Greater Williamsburg held a ribbon-cutting ceremony that would become a national milestone. A three-bedroom home with two full baths became the first-ever 3D-printed Habitat house in the country. It was purchased by April Stringfield, who plans to move in with her 13-year-old son.
[…]
Habitat for Humanity partnered with Alquist 3D, a company that specializes in 3D-printing of homes, and the crew printed the 1,200 square foot home in just 12 hours, reducing the standard construction schedule by at least four weeks.
The concrete used in the home is estimated to have saved 15 percent per square foot in building costs and it’s better at retaining temperatures, which can translate to savings on heating and cooling costs. It also means the home is more resistant to tornado and hurricane damage.
Along with her 3D-printed home, Stringfield will also receive a downloadable computer file that will allow her to print knobs, light switch covers and other replaceable parts for her home.
According to Alquist, 3D-printed homes can be custom designed and can last beyond a traditional wood structure home. The company also plans to introduce 3D-printed homes in Richmond, Va. as a study on the future of affordable housing.

note nicole’s “it’s more than a dereliction of duty […] it’s sadistic to watch other peole maiming other people and be holding the singular power of making it stop at your discretion in terms of commander in chief. he was commander of the mob that day, it would appear, not of the u.s. national guard”
but joe biden DID speak out at 4:05 that day
at 4:07 (1:51 minutes in on video) he called on the mob to pull back and explicitly called on the former guy to “go on national television now to fulfill his oath and defend the constitution and demand the end of this siege”
joe also tweeted the same message minutes before the duty derelict finally told his mob to go home and that he loved them:
I call on President Trump to go on national television now to fulfill his oath and defend the Constitution by demanding an end to this siege.
curious why the media never points out that Biden presidentially took the reins of power, referred to the riot as sedition and called on the mob to withdraw long before the at-the-time president (who waited 187 minutes after the siege started).
Quoting the statutory text for a felony obstruction offense, Cheney said that a key question for the select committee investigation is, “Did Donald Trump, through action or inaction, corruptly seek to obstruct or impede Congress’ official proceedings to count electoral votes?”
Obstruction of an official proceeding is a charge that carries a maximum possible sentence of 20 years in prison. Federal prosecutors have wielded it against hundreds of rioters accused of participating in the attack on the Capitol.
Watching “Don’t Look Up”. Has anyone else seen it.
Omicron tearing through my social and professional circles, and everyone that got it engaged in risky social activities.
i’m surprised i haven’t gotten it because i went to a few small(ish) dinner parties, but here i am, seemingly uninfected🤷♂️
i take a wide berth around mouth-breathers and do not care one iota if they’re offended.
…haven’t seen the DiCaprio movie, heard it’s good. Not enough time in the day for all the amazing programming that gets released, weekly.
Christians care about policy gains, not adherence to principle of the politicians making them. There’s a lesson in there for Dems, but smart-ass liberals are too clever to play along. i thought we understood that, already🤷♂️
It is very good. It is also over the top, funny and very pointed in its caricatures. It uses a planet killing asteroid for the danger, but is obviously targeting climate change as the real life villain.
If you watch stay for the credits.
Will do, thanks. “Maid” was really good, if you haven’t seen it.
wow……war on jesus, that’s gonna go over like a turd hotdog.
“Yeah, Jesus! What’s he ever done for US??”
“I like Saviors who WEREN’T captured and executed by the state .”
Cough, cough. I’ve heard it around the office this week. Someone came in because they tested negative, despite the rest of their family being sick and positive. Great.
Sturg- You get today’s award.

I watched “Maid” and liked it except for getting really furious with her at regular intervals. Talk about self-destructive behaviors, but then I made allowances for her insane parentage.
“About 90 to 93% of our hospitalized patients are unvaccinated,” Young said. “That number is closer to 98% for critical care, and around 60% for those on ventilators.”
“Former Sen. Harry Reid (Nev.), one of the Senate’s longest-serving majority leaders and a Democrat who played a central role in enacting former President Obama’s biggest legislative accomplishments, died Tuesday at 82 after a battle with pancreatic cancer. “
And legendary coach and sportscaster John Madden died at 85.
OK, Jamie, watching now, i see where it’s going, lol
RIP Reid
Anyone under 35 knows John Madden as the face of the billion-dollar video game franchise “Madden (insert year)”
