A splendid work by Vivaldi. Wonderful music and a top notch performance. Thank the heavens for the musicians and performers who work to keep such treasures so vibrant and alive.
Enjoy the music but most of all enjoy the day.?

*Local news reports that 70,000 have applied to attend the Trump/Cruz Nazi rally in Houston. I wonder if Trumpco gave the media a bloated number? I hope so.
I like Vivaldi.
SFB continues on his path to make transgender people non-human. It is infuriating to have the greedy old perverts in power and helping the monster.

Article about the Cruz/Trump rally. Just skip to the comments for the entertainment value.
By allowing the venue with their corporation’s name in it, Toyota is now, forever aligned with the Trump/Cruz Nazis.
The cult of personality. No thinking required.
Perfect perky tune for what appears to be our first major hint of Fall — breezy and high at 78. Thanks Jace (also enjoying your recent enthusiasm for commenting)
We have a World Series at last. Don’t really have a dog in the fight but figure the Sox to make pretty short work of the Dodgers. Then again, there is nothing like a seven game series to provide surprises. Could be very entertaining.
Perky breezy (gusts over 40mph) and aiming for 50. I need to move.

Another wonderful Sunday opener and I also wanted to say how thoughtful it was of you to share your medical experience with Jack.
Blue,
I would be very surprised if that rally nets 70,000. Even popular presidents(think Obama) Don’t get that kind of response especially for an off year election. That is a pretty intense race you have going in Texas, but still guessing that 70 k is way off the mark. Expect 40. Just don’t expect any reliable independent news source to verify it.
they are saying 70 because O’roarke got 60
I think the venue is much smaller for the asshole in chief
the Toyota center holds less than 20k
Oh if I were indeed a pied piper we’d clean this mess up right quick. For you see I’ve got a little list and I know right where to start. With the little Nero on the Potomac.
Craig,
78 for a high sounds pretty nice, too bad about The breezes
KGC,
Thanks.
Kind of concerned about Jack and his wife. He has not commented for a few days.
Jace… great stuff!
It’s going to be in the mid 40s for a high today…. perfect fall weather!
Yup… Jamie… you and I have our dream World Series match-up. Good luck to your Dodgers.
but…. GO RED SOX!
Baseball should be played in the 70’s not the 40’s?

About Mr and Mrs Jack me too. Although Jack can be a contrarian, their devotion to their neighborhood and each other is wonderful and I hope they come through this without too much difficulty.

Everyone has a little list.
Just fill in your own names?
KGC,
the whole feeding tube thing is hard and it has to be monitored pretty closely. I hope it is not wearing Mr. and Mrs. Jack down too much.
Jace, I know I’m crazy, but I prefer the recorder treatment in this rendition of Brandenburg. Perhaps it was the overly ostentatious performance of the lead artist in the Vivaldi that made me crazy
Flatus,
excellent choice. I like it very much?
flatus & jace, here’s a really into-it recorder enthusiast

That was fun, Pat. I’m a sucker for street musicians; I can’t afford going to New Orleans
Baseball should be played in the 70’s not the 40’s
Jace… then that means that not only should baseball not be played in October… but April as well.
I wish the best for Jack and Mrs Jack.
I’m really worried about BlondeWino.
Although both she and her husband are writing and busy with their plays being produced that being said I miss her.
RR,
Had wondered about Blonde Wino as well. Hope all is ok.
Just a note from a traditionalist. Real World Series were played under balmy afternoon skies during the first week in October ?
Here is a nice article regarding the poor and hurricanes. This applies to all types of disasters, but hurricanes are great examples of destroying large swathes of land. One issue that happens is also a fear of requesting aid from government sources, such as FEMA. Why? Perhaps they have a warrant out for them or they do not have current papers to be where they are. Or, they are not going to ask for aid because of pride. As for going to shelters if they have a legal issue, they are allowed in. We will treat them in a Red Cross shelter as others, however, we will provide a separate, if possible, location. One of the few times we would treat someone different from others.
Under a new president and Congress perhaps a tax on the ultra wealthy would be a nice way of getting funds to make grants in devestated areas to rebuild homes. Apartment building owners should have insurance and may not need quite the same grant as others.

interesting tidbit in a letter to the NY Times editor today
To the Editor:
Re “Them’s Fightin’ Words: 10 Great Protest Songs,” by Loudon Wainwright III (Op-Ed, Oct. 13):
A list of great protest songs that omits any song by the patron saint of folk protest, Woody Guthrie, is as incomplete as a list of great British rock bands that somehow leaves off the Beatles. Possibly Mr. Wainwright was simply daunted by Guthrie’s productivity; picking his best song would daunt anybody.
Although few would rank Guthrie’s 1950s song “Old Man Trump” as among his finest, it is certainly one of his angriest, and is of special relevance today. That Trump was Donald’s father, Fred Trump, whose Beach Haven housing in Brooklyn Guthrie had recently moved into.
Noticing the lack of black tenants, Guthrie perceived that they were not welcome. “Beach tower is Trump’s Tower/Where no black folks come to roam,” Guthrie wrote.

another woody Guthrie song “meanest man” (click for lyrics) written long ago is used in this vid to describe the twit
Patd
Nice catch on the song
KGC… I completely forgot about the Winos’ plays… thanks for reminding us. Now I can stop worrying about her and focus my prayers on Mrs. Jack.
I hope that’s it.
jace, glad to share ole woody ways and wisdom
willie is walking that same road with his “vote ’em out” ditty
Voter Suppression in the Age of Trump Republicans do not want people to vote less is more is their motto
another woody song of substance
Funny when Republican ads are about the horrors of single-payer healthcare and “losing your good employer coverage.”
Good?
Um, I hate to tell ‘em, but they just produced an ad telling folks why they should vote for Democrats.
