House will vote Thursday to override Trump veto of 2 GOP-backed bills
It’s not yet clear whether the override votes will clear the Senate.

The House will vote Thursday to override two vetoes by President Donald Trump of GOP-backed bills, according to three people granted anonymity to share scheduling plans not yet made public.

And barring any major, last-minute GOP defections, senior House Republicans and Democrats generally expect the chamber will approve the overrides in a rare rebuke of Trump — though leaders expect some Republicans who initially supported the bills to now fall in line with Trump’s wishes.

Less clear is whether either override vote would have enough support in the Senate, but one of the bills Trump vetoed in December was endorsed by Florida’s Republican senators. The underlying legislation would support the local Miccosukee Tribe, which has been at odds with the White House over the administration’s plans to build its “Alligator Alcatraz” immigrant detention center.

The other bill Trump scuttled last month would fund a water infrastructure project in Colorado, which is currently ensnared in the president’s fight with the state’s Congressional delegation over cuts to a climate center in the state.

The project sits in the district of Republican Rep. Lauren Boebert, who also defied Trump and earned the White House’s ire by backing a discharge petition to force the release of the Jeffrey Epstein-related documents.

Schumer says Senate will vote on Venezuela authorization ‘this week’

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer said he expects the Senate to vote on whether to formally authorize the Trump administration’s military actions in Venezuela when members return to Washington this week.

The New York Democrat said he is co-sponsoring a resolution that would block the president from taking further actions in Venezuela following the U.S. strikes there as part of an operation to capture Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, who is being detained in a federal prison in New York. Schumer said the administration, which did not notify Congress ahead of the attack, violated the War Powers Act.

“They did not just do ships off the water. They went inside Venezuela, bombed civilian as well as military places. And it’s a violation of the law to do what they did without getting the authorization of Congress,” Schumer said in an interview on ABC’s “This Week” on Sunday.

Several Democratic lawmakers — and some Republicans — criticized the Trump administration for failing to seek authorization of use of military force from Congress ahead of the Venezuela operation, as required by law. Schumer said Democratic Sen. Tim Kaine (Va.) and Republican Sen. Rand Paul (Ky.) are also co-sponsoring the resolution.

Though the vote in the Senate will take place after Saturday’s attack, it would require Trump to get approval from Congress for future attacks in Venezuela.

“It’s going to come to the floor this week,” Schumer said. “And if it is voted for, if it’s voted positively in both houses, then the president can’t do another thing in Venezuela without the OK of Congress. We have to pass it.” [continues]

Today is the fifth anniversary of the events of January 6th when Donald Trump tried to overthrow the government in a pathetic and illegal attempt to stay in power, Speaker Mike Johnson refused to hang the official plaque to honor the law enforcement officers who defended the Capitol, Trump took the time to post his TikTok stats instead of wishing his son Eric a happy birthday, he spent 84 minutes delivering a pep talk to Republicans in the House which we whittled down for tonight’s edition of “Real Moments in Presidementia,” Congress is back in session and looking to avoid another government shutdown, Trump continues to make it up as he goes along when it comes to Venezuela, sources close to the White House say that the reason Trump doesn’t support Venezuelan opposition leader Maria Machado is because she didn’t give him her Nobel Peace Price, his Legion of Dumb is gunning for Greenland again, Trump continues to claim he is in perfect health, the CDC is reducing the number of vaccines recommended for kids thanks to RFK Jr, and Trump has a brand new set of products right in time for the fifth anniversary of the Insurrection.

    Special Brief: ALL THINGS EPSTEIN

Editor’s Note: Today we are breaking format to focus entirely on the “Epstein Dump”—or rather, the lack thereof. With the DOJ admitting 99% of the files remain hidden and theories swirling that distractions such as invading Venezuela are being used as smoke bombs, the story has become less about the crimes and more about the cover-up.

    1. The Admission: The Department of Justice formally admitted in a filing that it has released less than 1% of the Epstein files, totaling only ~12,000 pages out of millions. The Guardian
    2. The Stash: Attorneys for the DOJ revealed that over 2 million additional documents remain in “various phases of review,” confirming the vast majority of the archive is still dark. Washington Examiner
    3. The Distraction: Democrats and opinion writers are arguing that the sudden military escalation in Venezuela was calculated specifically to distract the public from the Epstein file release. Times of India
    4. The Interrogation: Senators Durbin and Whitehouse sent a demand letter to Chief of Staff Susie Wiles asking how she accessed the files after she claimed in Vanity Fair to have personally “read the Epstein file.” Senate.gov
    5. The Timeline: Despite a congressional mandate to release the files by December 2025, the DOJ now says the review process requires 400 lawyers and could drag on for months or years. Daily Kos
    6. The Outcry: Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer slammed the delay as “lawlessness,” stating the DOJ is effectively protecting the identities of the 10 alleged co-conspirators. Hindustan Times
    7. The “Trap”: Former President Trump has characterized the file release as a “trap” designed to hurt Republicans, a sharp pivot from his earlier promises of transparency. Straight Arrow News

  6. Corporation for Public Broadcasting’s patriotic goodbye
Better nothing than a MAGA mouthpiece

On Monday, the Corporation for Public Broadcasting shut itself down.

Defunded by Congress and fearing that the Trump administration might pervert the organization to further undermine free media, the board members agreed it was better to salt the earth than leave behind a place for Trump to plant his poisonous, choking weeds.

“CPB’s Board determined that without the resources to fulfill its congressionally mandated responsibilities, maintaining the corporation as a nonfunctional entity would not serve the public interest or advance the goals of public media,” reads a statement on its website. “A dormant and defunded CPB could have become vulnerable to future political manipulation or misuse, threatening the independence of public media and the trust audiences place in it, and potentially subjecting staff and board members to legal exposure from bad-faith actors.”

It’s a tragedy for the American body politic and a triumph for the nihilists who scorn the very idea of independent media and an informed electorate.

  9. The public has already digested the Epstein scandal and the regime controls the files

they’re not going to give you the means to their end

  10. 2 MILLION MORE EPSTEIN DOCUMENTS? NOT REALLY

Trump’s DOJ prevaricators want us to think there are so many documents they had to miss the deadline that passed three weeks ago.

But they got to that eye-popping number by counting duplicates.

They just admitted to the judge that a “meaningful portion” of the remaining 2 million documents are just copies—using a massive-sounding backlog to excuse a defiant delay.

If they are just copies, why does it take an army of 400 attorneys to hit “delete”?

  11. Corey: Is the woman who was arrested in GR for talking to the media in a pro-Maduro way, and then arrested for doing so, getting any traction in Michigan? Legacy media is largely ignoring it. This is the tRUMPn&zi’s test balloon.

  12. When the volume of EPSTEIN starts to get cranked up, again, the N&zi regime and current OO occupant will go into Greenland, then Panama, then Canada. By then, Adolf will be cold, but others in the files may still be topside. Will Republicans continue to protect pedos after the pedo-in-chief is an ex-parrot?

  13. The additional documents that DOJ “just” discovered come as no surprise to the lawyers in SDNY and SDFL, where the documents were generated in the Epstein and Maxwell trials. I wonder how they escaped the notice of DOJ? 🤔

  14. To paraphrase what mTg just said about speaking at a N&zi-misogynist Nick Fuente’s event:

A federal agent shot and killed a Minneapolis motorist when she allegedly tried to run over law enforcement officers during an immigration crackdown in the city, authorities said Wednesday.

The Immigration and Customs Enforcement officer shot the woman in her vehicle in a residential neighborhood in Minneapolis, Department of Homeland Security spokeswoman Tricia McLaughlin said in a statement.

*How did she try to run them over when they were behind and beside her? They shot her as she pulled away from what I could tell.

Yesterday, they arrested a protester for being pro-Maduro on camera.

Today, they shot and killed an alleged protester as she was trying to leave the area.

  16. BREAKING: Feds confirm ICE officer fatally shot woman in south Minneapolis

An ICE officer shot and killed a woman in south Minneapolis on Wednesday, the Department of Homeland Security confirmed.

The department announced the death on X and in a statement to Sahan Journal about 11:45 a.m.

In a news conference, Mayor Jacob Frey said the woman was 37 and noted that ICE had claimed self-defense in shooting her.

“Having seen the video myself, I want to tell everyone directly. That is bullshit,” he said.

*Agreed! Just like all of the other claims they’ve made against folks, and it turns out to be ICE lying, again and again.

ICE killed get as she was driving away, around a vehicle blocking the road. There was nobody in foot in front of her. She drove around the vehicle & one of DONALD J TRUMP & STEPHEN MILLER’S ICE goons pulled their gun and shot her! Her car then careened into a parked car and pole. She was MURDERED by a MAGAt-N&zi-ICE goon!

Three times. He fired at her three times! because was trying to drive away from him. She did not try to run over anyone.

Taking to X earlier this morning, the US State Department posted a black-and-white photo of Donald Trump with the caption: “This is OUR Hemisphere, and President Trump will not allow our security to be threatened”.

    ***

    https://www.yahoo.com/news/articles/were-superpower-white-house-explains-055500086.html

Miller said that people can talk all they like about international subtleties, “but we live in a world, in the real world … that is governed by strength, that is governed by force, that is governed by power.”

“We’re a superpower. And under President Trump, we are going to conduct ourselves as a superpower,” Miller stated.

  20. Wondering what Dems in Congress will do if Adolf holds a SOTU. He likes to hear himself talk, so he might hold one. He might also have his goons arrest and imprison Dems as they sit there or as they leave.

Still think we’re a nation of laws? Hell, he’s not only broken our constitution, but international law doesn’t seem to exist, either.

  21. They just basically clarified what the law states here in Grand Rapids, Blue. She was blocking a roadway without authorization.

  22. She was a true believer. Now she is a convicted felon who says it was all a lie.

A grandmother and former MAGA loyalist breaks down how she was “gaslighted” into storming the Capitol on Jan 6—and why she now admits, “I had fallen for the president’s lies.”

  23. Hi Corey, Thanks for the follow-up.

She was talking to the press next to a building. I assumed it was a sidewalk, but maybe she was standing in an alley next to the building? Why wasn’t the press also arrested for blocking a roadway?

Anyway, I call BS on her arrest, and on the reason ICE goons gave for killing a woman in Minnesota.

  24. An ICE officer shot and killed a woman in south Minneapolis on Wednesday, the Department of Homeland Security confirmed.

How exactly does today’s “self defense” shooting of a 37-year old woman differ from the shooting of 36-year old Ashley Babbitt inside the Capitol five-years ago yesterday? How is one justified and the other is not?

    Rhetorical questions, answers obvious.

  25. Ivy – The traitor Aimes did not deserve to live. Back then I heard offers to drive him to the courthouse or prison. His actions caused a lot of deaths, and serious harm to the U.S. intelligence world. There are still more traitors hidden away in prisons, don’t want them hitching rides anywhere.

  26. There’s more video. Not that she could survive being shot in the face three times at close range, but there was a physician there and they wouldn’t even let him check her pulse.

These ICE goons are evil effers and I think things are about to go off around the country. I keep thinking there will be a breaking point and then everyone moved on, but this time feels different.

Oh, and the murderer (who was paid with our tax dollars to murder that woman) had a bandana over his face, but he had one if those N&zi haircuts.

The woman was said to be a legal observer.

    Search Assist:

“A legal observer is an individual, often affiliated with human rights organizations, who attends protests and demonstrations to monitor and document interactions between law enforcement and protesters. Their role is to ensure accountability and report any unlawful behavior by police during these events.”

  27. Just watched the video from Minnesota. The woman was turning away from the only ICE agent in front of her vehicle, not toward him. Jeffries is right – Noem is a stone cold liar.

  28. There are still more traitors hidden away in prisons, don’t want them hitching rides anywhere.

BB, the biggest traitor is in plain sight and millions voted for him up to three times.

  29. The shooting at the ICE facility in Dallas (with words in bullets, again) in September, went away.

Several cases in California were dismissed after ICE lied about what actually happened.

ICE is the regime’s police force. They are the Gestapo.

International law matters to this regime as much as it did to H/tler and his N&zis.

Pogo – There is slowed down video of it, and amplified to make out the conversation. This was a murder. The murderer felt safe doing it.

The woman shot and killed by an ICE agent in Minneapolis on Wednesday, Jan. 7, was identified by her mother as 37-year-old Renee Nicole Good.

Ganger said her daughter is “not part of anything like that at all,” referring to protesters challenging ICE agents.

“That’s so stupid” that she was killed, Ganger said, after learning some of the circumstances from a reporter. “She was probably terrified.”

“Renee was one of the kindest people I’ve ever known,” she said. “She was extremely compassionate. She’s taken care of people all her life. She was loving, forgiving and affectionate. She was an amazing human being.”
An Instagram account that appears to be Good’s describes her as a “poet and writer and wife and mom and shitty guitar strummer from Colorado; experiencing Minneapolis, MN.”

Good had previously been married to Timmy Ray Macklin Jr., who died in 2023 at the age of 36. Macklin’s father, Timmy Ray Macklin Sr., was shocked to hear the news that Good had been shot and killed.

He said Good and his son had a child who is now 6 years old. “There’s nobody else in his life,” Macklin Sr. said. “I’ll drive. I’ll fly. To come and get my grandchild.”

  33. Haven’t tried this on a big breaking story yet, wanted to see how Silas Gemini performs when asked to sort it out…

    The Minneapolis ICE Shooting

On Wednesday morning, January 7, 2026, a federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent fatally shot 37-year-old Renee Nicole Good in South Minneapolis. The incident occurred at East 34th Street and Portland Avenue during what the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has described as the “largest DHS operation ever,” involving the deployment of roughly 2,000 agents to the Twin Cities.

The event has triggered an immediate and volatile fracture between federal and local authorities. While DHS leadership has characterized the incident as a defensive response to an “act of domestic terrorism,” Minneapolis officials and eyewitnesses describe a reckless killing of a U.S. citizen who was not the target of an arrest warrant. The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) and the FBI have launched a joint investigation.

    What Supports the Federal Narrative

The Official Statement: DHS and ICE officials state that the agent fired in self-defense. DHS Secretary Kristi Noem and spokespeople allege the driver “weaponized her vehicle,” attempting to run over law enforcement officers to kill them.

Operational Context: Federal agents are currently operating in a “surge” capacity in the region. Reports indicate agents were conducting targeted enforcement in a hostile environment, with protesters and “legal observers” actively monitoring their movements, potentially creating a chaotic, high-stress baseline for the agents involved.

The “Ramming” Claim: The core of the federal defense rests on the assertion that the vehicle was used as a lethal weapon. If the investigation proves the car was accelerating toward an agent with intent to strike, standard use-of-force protocols often permit lethal fire.

    What Challenges the Federal Narrative

Video Evidence & Witness Accounts: Multiple videos circulating on social media, corroborated by witnesses on the scene, appear to show the Honda Pilot moving slowly or attempting to maneuver away from agents who had boxed it in. Witnesses describe the vehicle reversing and then shifting into drive, but deny it was “charging” agents at speed.

The Victim’s Status: Renee Nicole Good was a U.S. citizen and resident of the neighborhood, not the subject of an immigration warrant. City officials have stated she was present as a legal observer or bystander. This challenges the optics of a “dangerous criminal” neutralization.

Local Leadership Condemnation: In a rare break from standard protocol, Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey explicitly rejected the federal account, calling the “self-defense” narrative “bulls**t” after reviewing footage. Governor Tim Walz has echoed this, warning the public not to believe the “propaganda machine.”

Proximity of Engagement: Witness reports suggest the agent was in extremely close proximity—potentially reaching across the hood or standing directly at the bumper—when firing through the windshield. This raises questions about whether the agent stepped into the path of the vehicle to create the justification for force.

    The Reality Check

    • Known: The shooter was a federal ICE agent; the victim was unarmed (other than the vehicle); the shooting was fatal; the victim was a U.S. citizen.
    • Not Known: The specific internal communications or “roce” (Rules of Engagement) issued to agents for this specific surge operation.
    • Plausible: That the high-tension environment of the “surge,” combined with active resistance from local residents, created a “fog of war” scenario where an agent misinterpreted a panicked driver’s maneuver as a lethal threat.

  35. You can’t stop a car by killing the driver, So if you or somebody else didn’t get hit by the car then your defense is bogus. Also if you had time to draw and fire your weapon then you had time to step out of the way.
Not that any of these points will make any difference to either this case or multiple other cop killing driver cases.
But it is time to release the name of the shooter.
    That should be public knowledge.

Neo-royalism challenges us to look beyond a century-old paradigm and see the hierarchical lens through which Trump justifies domination.

If you’re in a system that is about rules, then this looks irrational because it’s not following the rules. But if it’s a system that’s about status and hierarchy dominance…then it makes perfect sense.

What we propose, neo-royalism, is basically just saying to begin with, the state is not the key actor like the country. It’s groups of elites that are organized around political leaders. That system doesn’t play by the same rules, but it is very inherent to how humans think about international politics.

In a video posted to social media, Fehlinger claimed that if the U.S. annexed Greenland, all the other U.S. bases in Europe would be confiscated, and the U.S. would “have to leave.”

“If you take it, we take every single base of the Americans from Aviano to Ramstein, from Romania, to all the other military bases will be confiscated, and you will lose it, and the whole position of American power since World War II, if you take Greenland, you have to leave,” Fehlinger said in the clip.

The Austrian politician was in part responding to MAGA podcaster Katie Miller’s provocative post on X, where she shared an image showing Greenland covered by a graphic of the U.S. flag alongside the caption “Soon.”

After laughing to himself, Fehlinger said, “It’s very simple, Mrs Miller, this is the leverage we have. You need the spaces for global power projection, you won’t have it. And we can defend ourselves very well, and we will do that without the U.S. nuclear shield, without the U.S. troops in Europe, without the American bases. “We have medics on scene, we have our own medics,” the agent said as the woman who his associate shot in the head moments before remained in her vehicle, whose body weight had presumably accelerated the car into a pole.

“Where are they? Where are they?” a bystander can be heard screaming at the agent, who tells her to relax. “How can I relax, you just killed my f—ing neighbor. You [unintelligible] her in the f—ing face. You killed my f—ing neighbor.

  54. Big Banks Enjoy Stealth Bailouts – A DCReport Exclusive

Ominous signs that at least one of America’s “Too Big to Fail” banks is yet again seriously short of cash emerged this weekend in documents examined by James Henry, DCReport’s economics correspondent.

For the past two months the Federal Reserve has been silently injecting tens of billions of dollars of cash into banks. No one announced this. Henry found the evidence in public records that few, if any, Wall Street journalists consult, but that we routinely review at DCReport.

The Federal Reserve Bank of New York (NYFed), acting like a financial Santa Claus to recklessly naughty bankers, delivered $17 billion in cash to an unknown bank or banks at 8 AM the morning after Christmas.

That’s just the latest scary development that has gone unreported until now.

  57. Gov. Walz is activating the NG to protect Minnesotans, so tRUMP can’t try anything…at least I see it more as a preemptive maneuver to tRUMP/ICE than Minnesotans protesting them.

Gov. Tim Walz puts National Guard on notice in event of unrest

Gov. Tim Walz has put the Minnesota National Guard on notice in the event of unrest following the fatal shooting of a 37-year-old woman in Minneapolis by an Immigration and Customs Enforcement officer.

Walz says he’s issued a warning order to prepare the Minnesota National Guard in the event of civil unrest. It’s a first step that alerts 13,000 guard members that they may need to be called upon in the event of an emergency.

The United States will withdraw from more than five dozen international collaborations, including treaties and organizations with the United Nations on climate change and the oceans, President Donald Trump announced in a memo on Jan. 7.

Among the organizations the United States will withdraw from are the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change and the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. The list also includes agreements and groups on renewable energy, oceans, piracy, counterterrorism, and empowerment of women.

The 66 groups, treaties, and conventions, including 31 associated with the U.N., are “contrary to the interests of the United States,” the memo’s title stated. The withdrawals follow up on a review by Secretary of State Marco Rubio at Trump’s request of all international organizations, conventions, and treaties to which the U.S. belongs or is a party to.

  61. Gov Walz should do more than put the NG on notice. He should activate them and order them to protect protesters.

It seems like the murderer left the scene of the crime. Is there an APB out for his arrest? There should be.

Watched the video in slow-motion. The first shot was in the corner of the driver’s side windshield, fairly low and almost to the side metal. You could see both of his feet, so he was not in front of the vehicle. She had turned the wheels away from him He then shot twice into the driver’s side window, which was open.

The vehicle accelerated, probably because of the weight of her legs on the accelerator. The murderer appeared to be chasing the vehicle.

Maybe the chickensh/t will off himself in his taxpayer-funded hotel room tonight, but he’s probably betting on a pardon.

That won’t help if state charges are filed. What’s up, MN?

I hope the vigils will lead to protests, and then to a strike. Shut down everything. No business. No school. No buying anything. Just stop the US.

  62. https://www.theguardian.com/business/2026/jan/05/venezuelan-crude-oil-appeals-to-us-refineries

Venezuelan oil is particularly dense and sticky. The high-sulphur crude more closely resembles a semi-solid tar than the far clearer liquids produced in US shale heartlands, making it more difficult to extract and process into gasoline, diesel, jet fuel and feedstock for the chemicals industry. But it is exactly what many refineries in the US were built to treat.

As a result, the US remains a major importer of crude to feed its refineries, despite being one of the biggest oil exporters in the world.

Access to Venezuelan crude at an attractive price could play an important role in sating Trump’s appetite for cheap energy to fuel the “reindustrialisation” of the US economy.

“Most of Venezuela’s crude supply is heavy, sour oil, which if you’re a US refiner is one of the most ideal grades of crude you could ask for,” said Janiv Shah, a vice-president at Rystad Energy, a global consultancy.

The gamble is a long game, with no guarantee of success. Returning Venezuela’s crude production to 3m barrels of oil a day would require 16 years of work and investment totalling $185bn (£137bn), according to figures from Rystad Energy, a global consultancy.

At least $30-35bn of international capital would need to be committed in the next two to three years to make this scenario plausible, Rystad said. “This could only be financed by international oil companies, which will consider investments in Venezuela only if they have full confidence in the stability of the country’s systems and its investment climate for international oil and gas players,” it added.

*Except Donny Dumbass said US taxpayers would foot the bill…only two, short days after saying the oil companies would be making the investments into extracting SOMEBODY ELSE’S oil. He was not satisfied with pillaging the US.

US military deploy more aircraft to UK bases amid Greenland annexation threats

Ten C-17 Globemasters and two heavily armed AC-130J landed at RAF Fairford in Gloucestershire and at RAF Mildenhall in Suffolk in recent days, according to The Daily Mail.

These aircraft often join forces in covert US operations overseas.

It comes as Donald Trump has said he is “very serious” about annexing Greenland despite warnings it would spell the end for NATO.

*Maybe the UK should deny use of the base or ground all US military aircraft? Oh, wait, the UK is in on the Greenland deal.
