It’s a question most Americans can answer pretty easily: “How many houses do you own?”
But for TV doctor and Senate candidate Mehmet Oz, it’s apparently a tricky one—with qualifiers, an explanation, and an interpretative answer.
At a campaign stop last weekend at the Carbon County Fair in Palmerton, Pennsylvania, a Democratic campaign operative asked Oz how many houses he owns.
Oz’s answer? “Legitimately, I own two houses,” he said, according to footage filmed by the operative and obtained by The Daily Beast.
“But one of them we’re building on, the other ones I rent,” Oz added.
The problem with that answer is Oz—legitimately—owns far more than two houses.
In fact, according to public records, Dr. Oz owns 10 properties:
• a 9,000-square-foot mansion in New Jersey
• a 7,000-square-foot country house in Pennsylvania
• a condo in New Jersey
• a piece of residential real estate in Sariyer, Turkey
• another piece of residential real estate in Sariyer, Turkey
• a Manhattan condo
• another Manhattan condo
• an oceanside mansion in Palm Beach, Florida
• a cattle farm in Okeechobee, Florida
• and a piece of residential property in Konya, Turkey, which appears to be used as a student dormitory
Oz’s wife, Lisa, also owns a mansion in Maine with her family and a pool house next to Oz’s New Jersey mansion.
While Oz does rent out some of these properties —at times sharing them with questionable tenants — he is not rentingthem from others. He owns them, legally and legitimately, and they make up a sizable portion of his assets, which total at least $100 million.
[…]
In the exchange with the Democratic operative, who doesn’t appear in the clip to introduce himself or announce that he’s recording Oz, the operative asks the GOP Senate candidate how many houses he has.
After Oz tells him he “legitimately” only has two houses, the operative asks about one of the houses being the one where Oz married his wife.
“Actually, yeah, I’m renting that from my mother-in-law because we’re building the house next to it,” Oz said.
The operative doesn’t stick around very long for more questions. He simply says, “Oh, gotcha”—pun seemingly not intended—and adds that Oz’s situation is “very cool.”
“Thank you very much,” the operative says as he leaves and turns off his camera.
LEGAL HELP WANTED
Must be: experienced lawyer!! Can say if things are legal or, if not, how to make them legal! Knows all the laws but isn’t TOO attached to them! If client has exciting new idea that might or might not be in keeping with law, lawyer should at least be OPEN to it and not come across all judgmental!
Must be willing to think outside the box. Should at least be familiar-ish with the laws that are laws FOR NOW but might get repealed soon (Rand Paul is working on it as hard as he can, but he can only do so much).
In-Court Appearance: Looks like a lawyer! Ideally sort of Sam Waterston (young, mid-2000s is best!) but anyone from main “Law & Order” cast is okay. SVU may be okay, we can discuss!
[…]
Compensation: Doesn’t like money too much! Is motivated to do great work for reasons other than money or being paid promptly! Ideally not obsessed with financial compensation and can find other rewards in the work itself. We will pay you in LOTS and lots of exposure! Ideal position for someone who wants to be on the national stage and is not obsessed with billing hours.
Enjoys seeing FLORIDA. Loves to be around BRASS. Hypothetically can look at a document and explain if it is supposed to be a SECRET or not.
Client: flawless, a god. Will NOT listen to advice! Will use own judgment regardless of what you suggest!!
[…]
Ideal candidate is open to having free ketchup shared with them sometimes at a very fast speed! Is open to being given free plates sometimes very fast! Is open to sharing steering wheel with a former government official! (Good reflexes required if not open to sharing.)
No-No’s (do not apply if any of these apply to you!!!): if you would describe yourself as a “real big stickler for upholding law” or “gets mad if client ignores legal advice” or “not at least a nine (if female)”; if you say stuff like “instead of repealing all the laws and inciting the public against the people whose job it is to enforce them, maybe you could simply try obeying the laws” (not necessary at this time); or if you’re Rudy Giuliani again.
I’d say Fetterman has been trolling the lizard called Oz really hard, but Oz has been doing it to himself, too. Trying to show he’s an average American, outraged by food prices…maybe don’t go to a grocery store, call it by the wrong name, buy deli salsa and asparagus (for some reason) and call them crudités instead of veggies…and then try to blame POTUS Joe, who actually signed a bill into law that will help average Americans in PA…and in your states of NJ, as well.
Petri – I love that woman.
Oz – shows that educated people can be doofasses.
Good to see Corey sticking his head in the tent again.
AXIOS:
Prices are going down, down, down:
Lumber:Soaring wood prices were on the leading edge of 2021’s inflationary run-up, and even early this year they were still surging. They’re now down about 60% since March.
Used cars: Prices are basically flat this year, with leading indicators suggesting a relatively sharp turndown in prices from July to August.
Oil topped out at over $120 a barrel in March, but is now down more than 25%.
Real estate: Going forward, the key price category to watch for inflation is housing, which accounts for a massive share of the Consumer Price Index. Even there, a pronounced downtrend in prices has started to emerge.
Things are returning to normal. Shipping rates are falling as ports get back to a normal condition, along with containers showing up. Will this last? Probably not as agriculture is being mashed by extreme condiitions. US labor is being constricted by idiotic immigration restrictions. And the world stage of Russia, China and Ukraine presents many dangers. Munitions manufacturers are doing well though.
Red-state America’s God is a fat, painted, New York City hustler, so Oz could certainly win if he amps up the racism
Ukraine live briefing: Warnings of imminent attack on Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant; rockets hit Kharkiv
Both Russia and Ukraine are warning of a possible attack on the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, currently under Russian control, in southeastern Ukraine. Plant employees have been ordered to stay home Friday, and Russia could be preparing to disconnect the plant from Ukraine’s electricity grid. The United Nations has expressed alarm, warning that any damage to the plant would be “suicide.” Here’s the latest on the war and its ripple effects across the globe.
Ukraine has warned that Russia could be planning a “large-scale terrorist attack” on the Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant to put the blame on Kyiv, while Russia said Ukraine and the United States are planning to trigger an accident at the plant, claiming there is a threat of the core overheating. Russia said Friday the presence of its troops at the plant was a “guarantee” there will be no replay of the Chernobyl disaster and rejected U.N. calls for a demilitarized zone around the plant.
The plant’s staff has been ordered by Russian forces not to show up for work amid the heightened tensions, Ukraine’s state-run energy firm, Energoatom, said, and to limit personnel at the complex to only those who operate the plant’s power units. It added that it has “information” that Russian forces are planning to switch off the plant’s power blocks and disconnect them from the Ukrainian grid — depriving the country of a major source of electricity.
Any false-flag operations at the plant would be out of the “Russian playbook — accuse others of what you have done or what you intend to do,” State Department spokesman Ned Price said when asked about the warnings. He said the United States was “watching very closely.”
“We must tell it as it is. Any potential damage to Zaporizhzhia is suicide,” U.N. Secretary General António Guterres said following a meeting with the leaders of Turkey and Ukraine. Russia’s Foreign Ministry rejected any proposal to demilitarize the area around the plant, stating that it would make the facility “more vulnerable.” Guterres will travel to the port city of Odessa on Friday to monitor efforts to ship grain.

Curious as to what political advice Dr Oz is getting for his Pennsylvania GOP Senate campaign that would land him in Hollywood today for this. (Not to mention the medical advice.) pic.twitter.com/0ETx7tanOC
FL state rep banned from Twitter for posting this: “Under my plan, all Floridians will be able to shoot FBI, IRS, ATF, and all other federal troops on sight,” Luis Miguel tweeted. “Let freedom ring.”
The increase in interest rates is cutting into home buying and high rents are making it difficult to save for down payments.
If anyone is missing KO, he does a podcast of what would be his old show. It is the old KO fighting the good fight. It is fun to listen to again.

So, CBS has this promo for their Morong show , and Gale King is in an MGM swing , I mean it’s a real 1938 throw back, and in the back out of focus is Nat, and Tony.
Given the state of the world , this thing looks like Marie Antoinette’s production team was in charge of this thing .
It is dripping with cake .
Biden’s is hosting a summit at the W.H. against Hate.

Our Texas fever is breaking , now comes the swing to the other extreme , flooding rains.

around here it swung a little early. We don’t usually get a break from drought in August but the crab grass and Johnson grass love it. For some reason we have Johnson grass along the curb on this street. I assume a utility contractor found some cheap dirt, with Johnson grass all it takes is piece of the root. I treat its roots and the bamboo roots as toxic waste to be hauled to the landfill.
Drove through the heart of corn country , Springfield Mo to KC to Des Moines, to Minneapolis and points north, for the most part everything looked good, looked like a good bean and corn crop developing.

This something new , a Tropical Low went into the border last week off the Gulf , headed West , juiced the Monsoon , and now is headed East , across N.M. Our dew points are near 70 degrees . All the way into N.M. Those big burn scars there lay open . I fear the worst for their water systems.

By mid August we’re typically looking at dust and brown grass. This year, moist ground and green grass. Might be something to this climate thing.

“Rents across the country are skyrocketing.”
This needs to be corrected, as well.
