  3. Ronny Chieng dives into Trump’s friendly meeting with Saudi Crown Prince MBS despite the president’s famously anti-Muslim past, and covers the latest updates on the release of the Epstein files, which was quickly approved by the House and Senate and now seemingly has the endorsement of the president himself. That said, Jordan Klepper offers a few reasons why we might not like what we see.

  4. https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025/nov/19/trump-sign-bill-epstein-files

Donald Trump signed a bill Wednesday directing the justice department to release files from the investigation into the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, surrendering in the face of joint pressure from Democratic opponents and the president’s conservative base.
The signature marked a sharp reversal for Trump, who had the authority as president to release the documents himself, but chose not to.
Democrats have gloried in the controversy over the files and the possibility they may contain compromising information about Trump, who had a personal friendship with Epstein, who died in 2019 while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges.
Trump sought to flip that script after signing the bill in a posting to Truth Social that pointed out Epstein’s ties to the Democratic party.
“Perhaps the truth about these Democrats, and their associations with Jeffrey Epstein, will soon be revealed, because I HAVE JUST SIGNED THE BILL TO RELEASE THE EPSTEIN FILES!,” Trump wrote on Wednesday night.
The justice department has 30 days to release all files related to Epstein, including the investigation into his death by suicide in a federal prison cell. The legislation permits redacting identifying information of victims, but specifically bars officials from declining to disclose information over concerns about “embarrassment, reputational harm or political sensitivity”.

  5. A new Trail Mix Brief

The Epstein Suicide Watch Goes On
What the facts do and don’t show

Epstein’s brother Mark was on CNN last night insisting, again, that there was no suicide. The claim isn’t new, but the attention is — so we pulled the receipts together in one place.

The DOJ and FBI still stand by suicide, and the physical evidence can support that finding, especially given the long, un-monitored window created by prison guard failures. Nothing in the logs or cell-entry data shows another person entering the cell.

But the credibility holes are still there.
A three-minute video gap, falsified rounds, and competing forensic interpretations mean the official story isn’t airtight. And with big chunks of the investigative material still sealed, the government hasn’t exactly built a trust fund.

    Bottom line:
suicide remains the best-supported explanation on paper, but the institutional failures around it and disputes about the autopsy findings keep the doubts alive.

  6. If This Is Making America Great Again… Can We Go Back to Shitty? Please!

Pull up a goddamn chair. And maybe grab a helmet or a stiff drink.
I’ve been chewing on a question that refuses to leave me alone, like a telemarketer from Hell who somehow got your personal number and won’t stop calling during dinner:

If what Trump is doing is “making America great again,” can we please, for the love of all things holy and unholy, go back to shitty?

Because if this flaming septic tank of national chaos is “great,” then I want the old bad. The humble bad. The cozy, off-brand, store-brand shitty. The shit we actually knew how to handle without breaking into a national group scream.

Let’s go through what “great” has become — because apparently we need to document the descent before historians start carving this disaster into stone tablets as a goddamn warning.

‘Get the Bum Off the Air!’ Trump Demands Jimmy Kimmel Be Yanked From TV After Late-Night Host Mocks Him in Monologue

President Donald Trump lashed out at late-night host Jimmy Kimmel on Wednesday after Kimmel mocked Trump’s poll numbers and criticized his move to host “a murderer for dinner at the White House.”

“Why does ABC Fake News keep Jimmy Kimmel, a man with NO TALENT and VERY POOR TELEVISION RATINGS, on the air?” questioned Trump in a Truth Social post on Wednesday evening. “Why do the TV Syndicates put up with it? Also, totally biased coverage. Get the bum off the air!!!”

Trump made his post shortly after Kimmel tore into the president during his Jimmy Kimmel Live! monologue.

In it, Kimmel ripped Trump over his connections to the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, mocked his poll numbers, and criticized the president for throwing a lavish dinner for Saudi Arabian Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

“They had a murderer for dinner at the White House last night,” remarked Kimmel. “Trump hosted a black tie gala for the crown prince of Saudi Arabia, Mohammed bin Salman, who also happened to be one of Jeffrey Epstein’s good pals. According to the writer Michael Wolff, Epstein and MBS, as they call him, were so tight they would play video games together for hours.”

After likening the gala to “an alumni dinner for the Legion of Doom,” Kimmel then displayed a poll which showed just 38% of Americans approved of the job Trump was doing in the White House so far.

  8. said monologue

We are following the path of Hurricane Epstein, both the House and the Senate voted to release the long-withheld files, Speaker of the House Mike Johnson was upset after Republican Majority Leader John Thune didn’t amend the bill, he hosted a black tie dinner with the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia who also happened to be a friend of Epstein, Elon Musk showed up at the dinner, Trump really excelled at talking about absolutely nothing that matters, LeBron James and Jimmy have more in common than you might think, and a farewell message from the penny.

  9. As our official protest coordinator, can you vet this one. We’re in Boston next Friday, want to gather relatives to help me livestream, Trail Mix On The Road Special Event:

Raise awareness on Black Friday about the inhuman and illegal ICE facility next to the Burlington Mall!

This is a pop-up visibility action. We made a series of signs (inspired by old roadside advertisements like Burma Shave) The signs read: Sun or Clouds /Rain or damp/Just half a mile/From the highway ramp/It’s Burlington’s own/Concentration Camp./Your neighbors are being held/without due process,/beds, soap, or showers/They should be home/with their families./ICE Out of MA now/All Eyes On 1000 DISTRICT AVE. 10. Sounds like a great idea and fun event, Craig. Depending on the time I shall either attend or be warmly ensconced in a theater seat watching Wicked.

  11. Craig… I’ve been so busy lately I don’t know if I’m coming or going.
So the answer to your question is … no.

  12. Epstein’s brother Mark asked on CNN last night: Why haven’t they checked *Trump’s* flight logs? He says Jeffrey told him he’d flown with Trump multiple times.

  13. this sounds like a non-starter — Europe wasn’t even in the discussions, just Putin dictating terms to Trump

The draft US-Russian peace plan, which emerged in media reports on Wednesday, would require Ukraine to surrender territory and cede unprecedented control over its political and military sovereignty to Russia.

  14. Poobah, today’s meme from RR begs to be on a protest sign. I’ve hared it with my AL friends and relatives already. Would that I were clever enough to come up with that one – instead of just appropriating it.

  16. https://abcnews.go.com/Politics/after-trump-signs-epstein-files-bill-focus-shifts/story?id=127700652

President Donald Trump said in a social media post on Wednesday night that he signed the Jeffrey Epstein files bill, again accusing Democrats of associating with the disgraced financier and saying alleged links between party members and Epstein “will soon be revealed.”

The president repeated his assertion that the Epstein files are a distraction from his agenda and what he has called a Democratic hoax will “backfire on the Democrats just as all of the rest have!”

Two congressional aides told ABC News on Wednesday that the bill was transmitted to the White House at 4:38 p.m. Wednesday.

Under the measure, the Justice Department has 30 days to release the materials once the president signs it. If Trump signed the bill Wednesday, the deadline for release would be Dec. 19.

Ahead of Trump’s announcement, Attorney General Pam Bondi told ABC News Wednesday that the DOJ “will follow the law.”

Bondi also said that “new information” had come to the department regarding the Epstein files, but did not elaborate on what the new information was.

It is unclear when — or even whether — the public will see the files, or how complete they might be, as the bill includes several exceptions to a full release that could complicate or delay disclosure.

The bill says the DOJ “may withhold or redact” the identities and “personal and medical files,” of Epstein’s victims. Bondi has said the department will “continue to follow the law while protecting victims.”

*Clear as mud. The list of abusers from the victims needs to be read on the House floor now.

  17. So the D,OA redistricting scheme isn’t going as Dumbass thought it would. As it stands now, it’s Dems +6 v. Repugs +4 in those states that have actually passed redistricting measures and haven’t had them overturned by courts. Still in the wings are the Texas appeal (R+5) and Virginia redraw (D+2 or 3). , so unless my third grade arithmetic is wrong, according to the potential maps out there now (WaPo) if Texas’ map is approved by SCROTUS and VA passes theirs, there will be an R+1 result of all this shit, which does not translate into one additional “safish” R seat following the midterms as the recent rash of D wins in the off year elections has reminded us.

  18. Craig,

Per the question about the Cheney/Bush response on the Libby pardon.

President George W. Bush declined to pardon I. Lewis “Scooter” Libby, the former chief of staff to Vice President Dick Cheney, for several reasons:
Respect for the Judicial Process: Bush repeatedly stated he respected the jury’s verdict and felt it was inappropriate to intervene while the case was still under appeal.
Belief that a Prison Sentence was Excessive: While Bush declined a full pardon, he did commute Libby’s 30-month prison sentence, calling it “excessive” and disproportionate for a first-time offender with a history of public service. The commutation meant Libby avoided prison time, but the conviction, fine, and probation remained in place.

In the video, the lawmakers said, “No one has to carry out orders that violate the law, or our Constitution,” adding, “Know that we have your back. … Don’t give up the ship.” The lawmakers don’t specify which orders service members have received, or might receive, that could be illegal.

Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche said Wednesday that the Justice Department will be taking a “very close look” at those lawmakers’ actions, calling it a “disgusting and inappropriate display of supposed leadership from the Democrat Party.”

President Donald Trump on Thursday called for the arrest of Democratic lawmakers who urged service members and intelligence officials to disobey illegal orders that might be issued by the administration, calling it “SEDITIOUS BEHAVIOR, punishable by DEATH!”

“It’s called SEDITIOUS BEHAVIOR AT THE HIGHEST LEVEL. Each one of these traitors to our Country should be ARRESTED AND PUT ON TRIAL,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform.

“Their words cannot be allowed to stand – We won’t have a Country anymore!!! An example MUST BE SET,” Trump wrote, going on to add in a subsequent Truth Social post: “LOCK THEM UP???”

He added “punishable by DEATH!” in yet another post later Thursday morning, after reposting another user’s post that read: “HANG THEM GEORGE WASHINGTON WOULD !!”

  20. Just read this from John Hopkins , SNF Agora Institute
A bit of understanding the enemy and understanding the water where we swim.

The report draws from a national survey of 4,500 Americans, earlier polling, and three focus groups with Republican participants.
It builds on prior SNF Agora research documenting Republican disagreement about the legitimacy of the 2020 election.
The new study shows that these differences now extend to views of presidential power, constitutional limits, elections, and trust in government.

  21. The eulogies were all good. I was especially moved by what the cardiologist had to say. He paid tribute to the sacrifice of the anonymous heart donor and their family.

The timing was synchronistic. Mr. Ivy is off this morning having a stress test. First in the five years since his 4x bypass.

  22. Pogo
Given the current polling I’m not certain but what the redistricting put more districts in play than the old plan. The only way to make more districts Republican is to spread out the Republican vote until you have too many lean Republican districts as opposed to safe districts. In a wave election, as this is quickly shaping up to be, this can be a losing strategy. Time for the Democrats to be recruiting quality candidates in as many districts as they can. Then give them a little seed money to get started.
Not that anybody is listening to me.

    Jack

  23. Finally got my blog fixed so everything is in the right order. Proof positive that even computer lame brains can eventually solve an issue if they click the right places without blowing up entirely.

  24. About seed money, I’ve been looking at several locals for state races that might be able to stir up things. Maybe we can flip this town in the next election. I don’t have much but smartly used a $100 from a few donors can get you a website and a presence for local media to use. As Craig has shown videos are easy and cheap.

Hegseth and Trump have both issued questionable orders. Defying at that level can really be hard. My son had to do it very early in his career with a lieutenant who was threatening him with a court martial. His colonel came in and gave the lieutenant a major dressing down for not listening when a junior service member was quoting a law.

  26. Ivy,

Craig and I got some laughs out of this more humorous view of Cheney. It truly is possible to respect private aspects of someone with whom you violently disagree on issues, particularly now when he looks almost benign considering the current guys at the top.

  27. I was cleaning out some files and ran across stuff from 20 years ago. Yeah, I never throw anything away. But it reminded me of how easy it is to impress people if you understand just a little technology. What I ran across was a sheet of business cards I created to pass out for a project I was doing in the neighborhood. They had perforated edges and you ripped them off. Not a great business card but at the time only “real” people had business cards so it was instant legitimacy. For our neighborhood work, technology was always a big part, it made us look bigger than we really were, it got attention. It why I find Craigs playing around with AI so interesting.
It is also why I get irritated when people ask for support and they can’t even put together a simple website. A person who doesn’t understand how to use tech has no business running for office. Unfortunately, there are more of those folks than you would assume among younger politico wannabes.
Just a thought for the day

  28. If my above link is correct then Trumps behavior is going to further divide the Republican party, This could result in major parts of the Republican party staying home in 2026. Trump is his own worst enemy.

    Jack

  29. A note about Nixon and illegal orders, start with the posse comitatus law. This is one we, enlisted, talked about under Nixon. We were concerned that he might try to stop the protests using us. It did not happen, but we were concerned about it. Next up was using the military tools to spy on U.S. citizens, I have heard he did do that, but can’t prove it true or false.

There is another side to Nixon that is important to understand, he did love the U.S., he liked power more, but he would never sell out the U.S. Everything sfb is would horrify Nixon.

  30. “…The bill says the DOJ “may withhold or redact” the identities and “personal and medical files,” of Epstein’s victims. Bondi has said the department will “continue to follow the law while protecting victims.”…
Thanks for posting this…as so many of my blogging and email pals are realizing, we can’t always get what we want…but sometimes…well, not in this case, we will not get what we need.
This really is corruption at levels never seen, except for when Reagan and also Nixon were in office.
We will not see the real Epstein saga on public domain for many years, just as the JFK story continues to have leaked information dribbled out every ten years.
I am OK, just haven’t posted here in a while. I have my TV tuned to MS NOW most of the time. I try to keep up, but man, a lot of deep details described by the lawyers spin around in my brain way too fast.

  31. Bronc

Nixon was a brilliant man with sharp understanding of foreign affairs. You are right that his personal demons were jealousy of others who he perceived looked down on him as not being from “Eastern Elite” and desire for power to outclass them.

  32. That’s the spirit. This should spread everywhere…

BROOKLINE, MA — Voters passed a symbolic article in support of using the 25th Amendment to remove president Donald Trump from office during the second and final night of the Special Town Meeting Wednesday. The vote passed by a total of 141 in favor against 27 opposed and 20 abstaining.

  33. Sometimes AI Sam really cracks me up. Just asked for Rotisserie Air Fry directions, got this opening remark:

“You’re spinning a whole bird in a countertop wind tunnel, Craig? Humans invented this instead of universal healthcare”

  34. Cook Report saying current polls, if correct, would give Dems 263 seats in the House. I think that’s plus 49 seats? Sounds about right, especially since Trump’s ridiculous redistricting plan has blown up in their faces

  35. Craig,

We were asking what info a private plane needs to publish about flights and why should Trump’s flight logs as well as Epstein’s be subpoenaed.

Answer: A private plane must file an Advance Passenger Information System (APIS) manifest with customs authorities for international travel, including passenger and crew names, passport details, date of birth, and citizenship, along with the flight plan and aircraft information. For all travel, a flight plan is required, and pilots must have pilot licenses and aircraft registration certificates readily available.

  36. Jamie – check for the time period. We used to get to the plane, check to make sure there was fuel in the tanks (not water), oil in the engines, then fire up and hope to get out in front of heavy traffic. (jet blasts make little airplanes bounce around a lot). At least now I usually do not need to file a flight plan for flying my drones.

  37. Bronc

That is what came up when I queried online about private planes. It may have been changed or have possible exceptions. It was an AI response, so probably worth double checking.

Since this was about Epstein’s plane, I checked a little more and it came up with this.
A flight plan must be filed for private aircraft on Instrument Flight Rules (IFR) flights, international flights, and certain domestic flights, such as those in the DC FRZ/SFRA or an ADIZ. Visual Flight Rules (VFR) cross-country flights are not required to file a flight plan but are strongly recommended for safety and search and rescue purposes.
Flights requiring a filed flight plan
IFR flights: A flight plan is mandatory for all flights operating under IFR, which is required for flying in instrument meteorological conditions or at higher altitudes.
International flights: A flight plan is required for any flight that will depart from U.S. domestic airspace and enter international airspace.

  38. and the question now is not “what did Trump know” It’s “what did the Republican congressional members know when they supported him?”

were they knowingly covering for a predator?

then you make ads if they were

oh, and why is Maxwell in a country club prison is another question you could ask often and loudly

  39. Jack, I listen. Sorry for the delayed response. Work…
Absolutely agree with your wave election approach. Good candidates, seed money (and let public dissatisfaction with the ruling assholes do the rest).

  40. then why did he say that he did

oh, so other people would do it for him, nvm

SCotUS is like “ofc he needs immunity, he is a common criminal”

  41. Craig
    Until, of course, he does.
If it didn’t come from Trumps mouth… or even if it did there are no believing Whitehouse assurances.
    Jack
