]….] Mr. Trump told the veterans that farmers will be the greatest beneficiaries of tariffs. Mr. Trump, decrying the “crap” from the “fake news” media, said the crowd shouldn’t believe the negative news they read and hear about tariffs, even as members of the president’s own party are speaking out against them. “What you’re seeing and what you’re reading is not what’s happening,” he said. Later on Tuesday, the VFW issued a statement saying the organization was “disappointed” by some members who booed the press, saying the organization relies on the media to disseminate their message.
Today, we were disappointed to hear some of our members boo the press during President Trump’s remarks. We rely on the media to spread the VFW message, and @CNN, @NBCNews, @ABC, @FoxNews, @CBSNews, & others on site today, were our invited guests. We were happy to have them there.

Giuliani said Cohen has no credibility. What about the president?
“He’s been lying all week, he’s been lying for years. . . . I don’t see how he has any credibility.”
Exactly. Rudolph W. Giuliani, the president’s current lawyer, was talking about Michael Cohen, the president’s former lawyer. But if Cohen is so sleazy, and I don’t disagree, why did Donald Trump keep the self-described fixer around for so long?
As recently as April, Trump was calling Cohen a “good man.” As recently as May, Giuliani called Cohen “an honest, honorable lawyer.” Cohen’s character didn’t change. The damage he could inflict on Trump did.
And here’s the bigger problem with Giuliani’s argument against Cohen: It applies to his own client. Trump lies — constantly, flagrantly, provably. You might think that a smart lawyer, capable of seeing around a looming corner, would think twice before labeling someone else a “pathological liar.”

Rudy said Cohen’s a liar this week, but he praised Cohen as being a great guy last week.
Lesson: Praise with no actual support won’t keep someone from flipping. Weasleberg is probably so deep in Trump’s illegal, fanancial poop pile that he will dummy up.
Trumpsky is going down, along with his cabinet & Congrussians who continue to bow down and enable his continued attack on democracy.

Roglic moved past Froome into 3rd place in the tour this week, so unless Froome does something special, he shouldn’t expect to get back onto the podium – but hey, it’s bicycle racing and you just never know.
speaking of pictures, this from mediaite:
The Colorado State Capitol Hall of Presidential Portraits briefly displayed a portrait of Vladimir Putin in the spot where President Donald Trump‘s portrait was supposed to go.
State Senator Steve Fenberg noticed the portrait on Thursday and snapped a photo before a tour guide took the portrait prank down.
The spot designated for 45’s portrait now stands empty because according to Denver’s News 9, the Colorado Citizens for Culture is hard up for donations in order to fund the Trump portrait for the space.
“The group has received $0 of the $10,000 needed for the portrait, says Jay Seller, who runs Colorado Citizens for Culture,” News 9 reports.
The report also added: “They typically collect the money within about four months, according to Seller – that was the case for Presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama. Both of those portraits cost about $10,000, as well.”
Sturg, I tried my best to adjust those files but can’t get them large enough to read the captions, at least not on my laptop. Sometimes apple products and windows platforms just don’t get along.
After reading last night’s posts on TdF, I’m in great admiration for those racers. Can anyone here imagine a baseball player doing any of that… I love baseball…. but what a bunch of pussies!
I was having a hard time getting on here for a few days too… but now it seems to have straightened out.
At the second check point Froome has picked up almost a minute over Roglic and is back on the virtual podium behind Thomas and Dumoulin.
Thomas is winning the tour but came in 5th on the course today – who’s the world time trial champion (beat Froome by 1 sec. on the course). Froome took back over a minute from Roglic to get onto the podium. Podium will be Thomas, Dumoulin and Froome. Congrats to all on an impressive tour.
Ok I’ll go back to just photos…….they seem to work ok…..the iPad is loading ok now too….. I’d hit refresh and it would just hang there……

from the guardian: …Trevor Noah addressed Trump’s penchant for having to put out fires of his own making.
“It’s no secret that we at the Daily Show haven’t been the biggest fans of president Trump,” he began. Pretending to have turned a new leaf, Noah added: “This morning I realized that I have become a Trump hater.”
“I’ve seen that Donald Trump is fixing America’s problems,” the host joked. “Every day this week he’s done something great. It started on Tuesday, when he saved the farming industry.”
Noah was referencing a $12bn emergency aid package being given to farmers to offset the losses suffered by Trump’s new tariffs. “Donald Trump,” Noah quipped. “Saving the farmers, baby!”
The host then showed news coverage of Trump’s meeting with Jean-Claude Juncker, president of the European Commission, where the two struck a “wide-ranging agreement to stave off further trade hostilities”.
“This man is a visionary,” Noah said. “Can you imagine a world where, one day, America and Europe can work together? You realize, just two and a half weeks ago, a major world leader declared Europe one of America’s biggest enemies. Who that leader is will be mystery forever.”
“If you still don’t believe in this great leader’s ability to mend what was once broken, maybe this will open your eyes,” Noah said, referring to the reunification of children taken from their parents at the southern border.
“In one week, president Trump saved the farmers, made peace with Europe, and freed the children,” the host said. “We could spend forever trying to figure out which 45th president hurt the farmers, antagonized Europe, and kidnapped the children to begin with, but again, that’s not the point. The point is, my friends, president Trump can fix any problem, just as long as he created it.”

GOP Rep. Issa: ‘Nobody’s Going to be Surprised’ If Trump Lied About Russia Meeting

Cavuto pressed the Republican on whether Trump could face consequences for his claims that he didn’t know about the meeting.
“But what if he’s proven to be a liar, congressman?” Cavuto asked.
“If he’s proven to have not told the whole truth about the fact that campaigns look for dirt, and if someone offers it, you listen to them, nobody’s going to be surprised,” Issa said. “There are some things in politics that you just take for granted.”

the hill: Top Koch Network officials vent frustration with White House, GOP-led Congress
[….]
In a video the network is expected to unveil on Sunday, Charles Koch will warn against “a rise in protectionism” – a swipe at the president’s tariffs and immigration policies.
On trade, Koch officials vented about what they described as “Depression-era” policies punctuated by farmer “bailouts.” The Trump administration is giving $12 billion in aid to farmers impacted by retaliatory tariffs.
“This is hurting people and doing long-term damage to the country,” Hooks said.
And Koch Network officials said they’re appalled by the Trump administration’s “zero tolerance” policy, which resulted in thousands of children being separated from their parents at the Southern border.

Oh, now KochCo is speaking out against zero tolerance. It must’ve hit the in the wallet, somehow.
They didn’t like the farm bailout, but did they make a peep when they got a nice tax break?
I mean, I’m glad those with power (how many Congressmen have they paid to get into office?) are speaking out against Trumpsky, but their agenda is THEIR agenda. It has nothing to do with the well-being of this country.
