  1. Walt Kelly 1953 (during era of McCarthyism)

Traces of nobility, gentleness and courage persist in all people, do what we will to stamp out the trend. So, too, do those characteristics which are ugly. It is just unfortunate that in the clumsy hands of a cartoonist all traits become ridiculous, leading to a certain amount of self-conscious expostulation and the desire to join battle. There is no need to sally forth, for it remains true that those things which make us human are, curiously enough, always close at hand. Resolve then, that on this very ground, with small flags waving and tinny blasts on tiny trumpets, we shall meet the enemy, and not only may he be ours, he may be us. Forward!

  2. I have been wondering how the calls Joe makes to Pelosi, Obama, and the others sound like.  The effort to toss the one who brought you appears to be at the top level, not us voters.  Very strange, especially the timing.

A doctor has brought up that perhaps sfb did get his ear nicked by a bullet and has suffered some brain damage. Laughs aside about looking for a brain, he states that even a tick that close could rattle the grey matter.  Plausible. I am more on the side that the orange blob is rattled with the realization he was almost worm food.  Which brings up would the spawn bury him next to former wife on the golf course?

  4. Chump is dangerously insane, but since he’s also a Sadist with a lot of blackmail material, the gop says, “Well, ok”.

  5. Since he thinks he is a god that won’t be difficult.

He saw God’s providence in Mr. Trump’s survival but also hoped the near-death experience would encourage Mr. Trump to turn completely to God.

  7. OK so now I get how he evolved from Never Trump to running mate.

  8. Most of what they say they don’t believe. It only matters that they think their gullible audiences believe it. But in fact, nobody believes anything anymore.

  9. It’s very hard for me to believe that Nancy P is the architect of the Dump Biden movement but she has called for  an open pick convention.
I did not watch the debate — was it really that bad or was it just the opportunity some had been waiting for.
If Biden does step down it should be conditioned on Harris being the candidate.

i was trying to quote the Trump campaign website with the text of “Agenda 47” promising to “deport pro-Hamas radicals”  (with no qualifications or definition of “radical”) BUT THE TEXT HAS BEEN SCRUBBED, replaced with videos that can’t be text-copied

Point being, the labeling of any perceived adversaries of trump as being “pro-Hamas” has begun

Dems better get their shit straight fast

  11. “It’s very hard for me to believe that Nancy P is the architect of the Dump Biden movement but she has called for  an open pick convention.”

    KGC,

likewise for me.  could be she sees an open convention vs a ho-hum rubber stamp one garners more media interest at the same time validating and strengthening support for Joe.   more eyes on the prize.

According to AP Biden says delegates can vote their conscience — and he’s right. But mass defections remain unlikely (msn.com)

Biden said during his NATO press conference that delegates are “free to do whatever they want” at the Democratic National Convention, including nominate a different candidate. Shortly after, he mock-whispered into the microphone, “It’s not going to happen.”
On both counts, Biden’s assessment is likely accurate: DNC rules do technically leave room for “good conscience” to drive delegate decisions, yet they rarely abandon their pledged candidate. The vetting process for delegates also makes it unlikely that many would break from Biden unless he dropped out.
“I didn’t take that to be like, ’Oh, I’m letting the delegates decide someone else,” said Adam Peters, a 36-year-old Democratic delegate from Iowa who’s sticking with his pledge to support Biden. “I think he was just insinuating that if folks are so concerned, we’ll see what happens on the floor — but at the end of the day he’s the nominee.”
At least 3,896 delegates are pledged to Biden, after he swept nearly every primary contest. But that “pledge” isn’t an ironclad agreement. DNC rules encourage but don’t specifically require delegates to vote for the candidate they’re pledged to support. Instead, the rules say, “All delegates to the National Convention pledged to a presidential candidate shall in all good conscience reflect the sentiments of those who elected them.”
In other words, delegates Biden won during the primary season are bound only by their consciences to actually cast their votes for Biden when it comes time to select a nominee, although mass defections would be unprecedented.
Louisiana delegate Brenda Ann Palmer, a retired school board employee, said that she liked Biden’s response to the question about delegates.
“He wants us to be with him, and he wants us to vote our conscience, and he’s not going to tell us we have to vote for him,” Palmer said, adding, “I haven’t changed my mind, I want him to be the nominee.”
Massachusetts delegate Mary Richards, who’s also still supporting Biden, echoed that sentiment. “I interpreted it as, we can make our own decisions,” she said.
There’s another group of delegates who may be less loyal, though there are fewer of them and party rules limit the power they have in deciding a nominee. Automatic delegates — or “superdelegates” — are not pledged to a candidate, and include Democratic members of Congress and other high-profile Democratic leaders.
After the 2016 primary, the DNC scaled back the role of automatic delegates so that in competitive primaries, they generally cannot vote in the first round of voting. Rather, the first round is reserved for the pledged delegates — though superdelegates may be able to vote in the first round if a candidate “has been certified by the DNC Secretary” to have obtained a majority.

  12. Crackers – Aside from one prolonged pause and one gaff, the debate was OK.   Biden talked about policy.  Orange Adolf talked about golf.   Biden’s voice was weak, his brain was not.

Dems made this mess.  They were ready to throw Biden to the wolves by the end of the debate per the post-game show on PBS.
They needed to use the debate clips where he was strongest and move forward.

I don’t know who is really behind this, but it might be a billionaire who wants more tax cuts from tRUMPsky.  Unholy moley!

    Biden/Harris 2024

    Putin’s Puppets/Project 2025 Never!

So much time has been wasted.  Instead of bagging on Biden, time could’ve been spent connecting the dots and warning the American people about Project 2025.

How does all of this in-fighting look to an Independent?    Dems looked like damned Repug/ MAGAts in the House right now.

  13. Wondering if tRUMPsky suffered hearing loss from the concussion of the bullets hitting things?

I’m surprised he hasn’t tried to award himself a Purple Heart for the paper cut on his ear.

“Kestenbaum Endorses Trump Plan to Deport Foreign Pro-Palestine Protesters in RNC Speech”

    https://www.newsweek.com/hamas-offers-trump-advice-save-israel-ominous-demise-1927855

“Trump, who reiterated his long-standing argument that the Hamas-led surprise attack sparking the ongoing war with Israel in Gaza “would never have happened” if he were president, has traditionally adopted fervently pro-Israel policies.”

“While Trump mentioned the ongoing war in Gaza sparingly in his 90-minute speech delivered upon accepting his party’s nomination at the Republic National Convention on Thursday and never referenced Hamas directly, he issued an ominous warning “to the entire world” regarding the fate of an estimated eight U.S. hostages believed to be held by Palestinian militias.”

“We want our hostages back,” Trump said, “and they better be back before I assume office, or you will be paying a very big price.”

Planning to deport/ban Muslims is big talk from a many with tiny hands. Minnesota and Michigan have large Muslim populations. Both states are swingy.

  15. the trump website DID NOT propose to deport foreign-nationals that were “pro-Hamas”, it said “deport pro-Hamas radicals”, which would mean every member or CODEPINK, according to Van Orden, American or not

    …should have screenshotted it, damnit

  16. I’m spending today close to home since Trumpy is in downtown GR today. That’s about 30 minutes from me. Apparently, people have been camping out in front of the arena since Thursday morning. Even staying in town today I saw an SUV with a giant Trump flag on it’s roof and a woman wearing a “Trump: Make America Great Again” t-shirt at Kohl’s. I’m staying as far away from that circus as I can tonight.

Bink – There’s a link to his campaign hole and the text under the Agenda 47 link in the story. This one is scary.  Is he going to stop at one amendment?   ~He’s now a Constitutional scholar~

The agenda also envisions a slew of proposed executive and presidential orders that will:

Determine the “correct” interpretation of the 14th Amendment.

    Stay safe, Corey.

Thank you, still scrubbed.  i ****ed up

  20. Weird. This rally in Grand Rapids: I have never seen a first event after a nominating convention that almost completely ignores the running mate. They are normally platforms for elevating, celebrating and leveraging the excellent choice. Vance did a 45-second glowing intro of Trump, who barely acknowledged his presence.

  21. Trump: “They keep saying ‘he’s a threat to democracy.’ I’m saying, what the hell did I do for democracy? Last week I took a bullet for democracy! What did I do against democracy? Crazy.”

  22. Thought Trump wasn’t going to talk about the assassination attempt?  Naturally, he’s yammered on about being God’s fa favorite in Michigan.

  23. Bink – It’s there; the text.   Didn’t want to lead them here.  Not sure why you don’t see it.

Hiss and meow, JD.  Hiss and meow.

    Biden/Harris 2024

    Putin’s Puppets/Project 2025 Never!

  24. Trump finished his nearly two-hour vomit fest saying Vance’s name exactly one time, and only then to thank him for his effusive praise. He obviously wasn’t into the staff’s plan to show off their great chemistry together. And the Indian wife must not be testing well with the racist MAGATs. She wasn’t there.

My hunch is this relationship will get rocky. JD is not the spineless Pence-like wimp Trump will want him to be. This is two scorpions in a bottle.

  25. How’s that new tone we were promised working out?
Just a sampling from Trump’s Michigan speech tonight:
    — Called President Biden ‘Crooked Joe,’ a ‘feeble, old guy,’ ‘low IQ,’ and ‘stupid’
    — Called Vice President Harris ‘Laughin’ Kamala’ and ‘crazy’ and ‘nuts’
    — Repeated his attacks on “the incompetent” Gen. Mark Milley
    — Said Democrats were ‘enemies of the democracy’ and attacked the ‘grossly incompetent people running our country’

  26. He probably was forced to pick Vance…..Vance is just not subservient enough.   Good thing for them they won’t have to endure each other past November
Vance is really going to get under that orange skin.

  27. Dictators tend not to like competing claims to power, do they?

i only heard a clip of King Dipshit promising the “largest mass-deportation in American history”. The so-called criminals might be hard to round-up, but you know who won’t be?

    Settled working families

  28. Craig – That is a perfect Harris ad from 2020. It can be used wherever she is in the ticket, and should be.  It will remind folks of  something more tangible about her since veeping can be somewhat invisible.  That should give comfort to those needlessly worried about Biden’s age.
