Fantastic Night of Folk, Legacy and Vibe as Arlo Guthrie, Along with His Band AND the BURNS SISTERS performed and entertained at Oklahoma’s PREMIERE Singer-Songwriter Venue….. The BLUE DOOR, in Downtown OKC!
arlo’s best line starts at 30 seconds in about the constitution’s “we the people in order to form a perfect union….” (as an aside says “glen beck’s not going to like this”) then he declares “you can’t be anti-union and pro-american!”
good marlette cartoon (in rabid red northwest Fl paper yet) about joe’s speech and the deplorable semi-fascists

The insurrectionists of Jan. 6Â busted into the Capitol, hit police with fire extinguishers, flagpoles, bats, stun guns and pepper spray; they threatened to kill the vice president and tried to overthrow the 2020 election. And now, they want an apology.
MAGA Republican leaders have fomented violence, attacked the rule of law and deceived tens of millions of people into rejecting the outcome of free and fair elections. And now, they, too, want an apology.
I’m sorry, but these authoritarians have some terribly tender egos. They need to pull themselves up by their own jackboot-straps.
[…]
While I’m apologizing, let me offer one to the insurrectionists, as Trump demanded:
I regret that the heads and bodies of police officers got in the way of your truncheons and flagpoles while you were engaging in Legitimate Political Discourse at the Capitol. I hope that you didn’t hurt your fingers while gouging their eyes, and that their blood didn’t stain your tactical assault gear; if it did, please send me the dry-cleaning bill! I am so sorry that, on your Normal Tourist Visit, you didn’t get to use your noose at the Comfort Inn in Alexandria. Please forgive me for previously quibbling with your plan to “hang Mike Pence” and your use of the Confederate flag in the halls of Congress. I apologize that you had to break windows and doors, climb scaffolding and rappel into the Senate chamber. My bad! Next time you want to overthrow an American election, just knock.
And here’s an apology to the semi-fascists, as McCarthy demanded:
I’m so sorry you’ve convinced millions of people to believe the egregious lie that the 2020 election was stolen. I’m sorry you are making heroes of the criminals who attacked our seat of government. I’m sorry you’re currently fomenting violence against the FBI and the IRS. I’m sorry you’re passing laws giving yourselves more power to overthrow the 2024 election results if you lose, and I’m sorry you’re nominating candidates committed to doing so. I’m sorry you don’t like it when the Justice Department enforces the law and protects national security. I’m sorry you’ve lionized Hungarian strongman Viktor Orban, and I’m sorry you say that the Democratic Party, not Vladimir Putin’s Russia, is the real enemy. I regret that you’ve taken away women’s rights. I regret that you’re banning books and censoring history lessons. I regret that you are shunning science, expertise and the truth. Above all, I’m truly sorry that, because of such things, Biden called you semi-fascists. There’s really nothing “semi” about it.
“Trader Joe’s Workers Decided To Unionize. The Company Abruptly Closed Their Store.”
“They’re hoping this dissuades other workers from doing the same thing we’ve done…”
Traitor Joe’s —mmm, boycott? Unionize, anyway? They can’t close all of their stores.
I would only argue that POTUS Joe didn’t need to cushion the word “fascist” by using “semi.”  Â
The reason MAGAts are squawking about POTUS Joe’s speech:
1) It’s an accurate description of them and the higher-ups don’t want their lemmings to start thinking
2) The relief brought by the jobs/inflation/climate act POTUS Joe signedÂ
3) Prices if some things are starting to stabilize and gas prices are coming diwn
4) ROE-vember is coming
There’s so much stable energy in the room tonight! For today’s news, President Biden delivered a speech today addressing the battle for the “Soul of the Nation” and Sarah Palin lost her special election in Alaska but might have a second chance on Masked Singer. President Biden will host former President Obama at the White House and hopefully they will just stay forever. Retailers in Australia are asking for children to cover the current labor shortage, and in Thailand, a zoo’s fire drill offered the role of a lifetime to a man and his ostrich costume.
NASA still hasn’t fixed hydrogen leaks, launch today seems dicey
Unions making a come back is very good news. For awhile now unions have been getting a bad rap and the media constantly taking shots.
Not too mention union contributions to elections money and workers.
pitting little people against little people… the republican way…
I retired on a 30-and Out UAW plan at age 53, nearly 20 years ago. It’s a piddling amount compared to the pensions Teamsters or school teachers get but I get by with my additional military partial disability plus Social Security. I was always talking up the union to my fellow workers, and I served a few terms as shop steward and later local trustee.
Now the factory I worked at for 30 years is dead , closed forever, and the local UAW chapter is either dead or in limbo. The International even cut off my Solidarity magazine which I read every month.Â
I’m glad to be a union man and any resurgence is welcome. Â
