    “Moscow must lose once and for all. And it will lose,” Zelenskiy said during his address in parliament on Friday.
    Zelenskiy said Canada has always been on the “bright side of history” in fighting previous wars and said it has helped save thousands of lives in this war with aid.
    He also thanked Canadians for financial support and for making Ukrainians fleeing war feel at home in Canada.
    Zelenskiy repeatedly thanked Canada and received a number of standing ovations from dignitaries and parliamentarians.
    “I have a lot of warm words and thanks from Ukraine to you,” Zelenskiy said in Justin Trudeau’s office before his speech. “You have helped us on the battlefield, financially and with humanitarian aid … Stay with us to our victory.”
    The Canadian prime minister called the visit an opportunity to show Zelenskiy “how strongly and unequivocally we stand with Ukraine” and announced an additional C$650m (US$482m) over three years for 50 armored vehicles that will be built in Canada.
    It is Zelenskiy’s first visit to Canada since Russia invaded Ukraine in February 2022. He previously addressed the Canadian parliament virtually after the war started.
    “I have made it clear that our government will stand with you for as long as it takes,” Trudeau said in his speech.
    Trudeau said Canada has provided nearly C$9bn in military, financial and humanitarian support to Ukraine since the war began.
    Zelenskiy and Trudeau are also scheduled to go to Toronto to meet with the local Ukrainian community. Canada is home to about 1.4 million people of Ukrainian descent, close to 4% of the population.
    More than 175,000 Ukrainians have come to Canada since the war started and an additional 700,000 have received approval to come as part of an initiative that supports temporary relocation of those fleeing the war. The initiative allows for an open work permit for three years with pathways to permanent residency and citizenship.

    DENVER (AP) — The Colorado judge overseeing the first significant lawsuit to bar former President Donald Trump from the state’s 2024 presidential ballot on Friday issued a protective order prohibiting threats and intimidation in the case, saying the safety of those involved — including herself and her staff — was necessary as the groundbreaking litigation moves forward.
    “I 100 percent understand everybody’s concerns for the parties, the lawyers, and frankly myself and my staff based on what we’ve seen in other cases,” District Judge Sarah B. Wallace said as she agreed to the protective order.
    The order prohibits parties in the case from making threatening or intimidating statements. Scott Gessler, a former Colorado secretary of state representing Trump in the case, opposed it. He said a protective order was unnecessary because threats and intimidation already are prohibited by law.
    It was sought by lawyers for the liberal group Citizens For Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, which is seeking to disqualify Trump from the ballot under a rarely used Civil War-era clause of the 14th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.

    The case in Colorado is the first filed by a group with significant legal resources. The issue is expected to reach the U.S. Supreme Court, which has never ruled on the insurrection provision in section three of the 14th Amendment.
    Wallace has set an Oct. 30 hearing to discuss whether Trump needs to be removed under Colorado law prohibiting candidates who don’t meet qualifications for higher office from appearing on ballots. She has said she wants to give the Colorado Supreme Court — and possibly U.S. Supreme Court — as much time as possible to review the decision before the state’s Jan. 5 deadline to set its 2024 presidential primary ballot.
    A parallel case in Minnesota filed by another well-financed liberal group is scheduled to be heard by that state’s supreme court on Nov. 2.
    Trump’s attorneys are scheduled to file two motions to dismiss the lawsuit later Friday. One will contend the litigation is an attempt to retaliate against Trump’s free speech rights. Wallace has set an Oct. 13 hearing to debate that claim.
    Sean Grimsley, an attorney for the plaintiffs in the case, proposed the protective order in court Friday. He cited federal prosecutor Jack Smith last week seeking a gag order against Trump for threats made in his prosecution of the former president for trying to overturn the 2020 presidential election results.
    “At least one of the parties has a tendency to tweet — or Truth Social,” Grimsley said, referring to Trump’s own social network where he broadcasts most of his statements, “about witnesses and the courts.”

    Kosma was a native of Hungary who was introduced to PrĂ©vert in Paris, and they collaborated on the song “Les Feuilles mortes”. The song was legally deposited in 1945, and published in 1947. The song has its in origin in the ballet music written by Kosma for Le Rendez-vous by Roland Petit, performed in Paris at the end of the Second World War. Large parts of the melodies are exactly the same as the ballet music, which was itself partially similar to “Poème d’octobre No. 4” by Jules Massenet. This portion of the tune has also been noted to be near-identical to a passage in Tchaikovsky‘s 1888 composition Hamlet Overture-Fantasia, Op. 67. Marcel Carné used “Les Feuilles mortes” for the 1946 film Les Portes de la nuit (Gates of the Night), where it was sung/hummed in parts by Irène Joachim and Yves Montand.
    The most successful commercial recordings of “Les Feuilles mortes” was by Yves Montand (Columbia) in 1949, which sold a million copies within 5 years. Cora Vaucaire [fr] recorded it (1947 or 1948),as did Juliette GrĂ©co who first recorded a version in 1949.
    In 1950, Johnny Mercer wrote the English lyric and gave it the title “Autumn Leaves”. The English lyrics are significantly shorter than the French version, consisting of only two verses.   17. patd – she should be.  The aft spring lines were loosened so she could be free in her slip.  The big question is how high the surge will be. Guess is one to two meters, anything higher and who knows.
