That message to our new president, on a handmade sign in yesterday’s Inaugural Parade, gets at it for me. Wishful thinking? Maybe. But what else is there, if the country is to survive this.
President Trump’s Inaugural Address, pedestrian and accessible, clearly was pitched to his tea party constituency. It struck me as a smart move to show them he won’t abandon them upon gaining office. He pointedly dissed politicians of all stripes.
The question is how he uses this reinforced bond with his supporters. He clearly has the power to unleash them on Congress to achieve his agenda.
What is that agenda? Republicans might not be pleased if he rallies these forces for Democratic purposes such as massive infrastructure spending, which he specifically iterated in his Inaugural Address. He has recently said “everybody will get health insurance.” He has said Medicare ought to be able to negotiate drug prices. That’s not Republican orthodoxy. That’s Democratic orthodoxy.
The thing about this guy is that he is a post-partisan populist, despite his wealth, and I suspect Republicans have more to worry about. He’s not really one of them, and might use his leverage to upend their world. Even if these views started out as manipulative strategy, I’m convinced he believes it. If nothing else because he knows his success going forward depends on it.
But that might be wishful thinking.
OMG. Â So Sad if it werenât so funny. Â Now we know Donald Trump has seen the Bee Movie.
Jamie posted the above last night and it deserves reposting. wonder when and what Seinfeld will say about being plagerized? too bad this other quote from barry b benson wasn’t in the address:
Barry B. Benson: Listen everyone. This runway is covered with the last pollen from the last flowers available anywhere on Earth. That means this is our last chance. We’re the only ones who make honey, pollinate flowers, and dress like this. If we’re going to survive as a species, this is our moment. So what do you all say? Are we going to be bees, or just Museum of Natural History key chains?
alas, we’ve been had.
from chortle:
Reports that Donald Trump plagiarised Jerry Seinfeldâs Bee Movie for his inauguration speech appear to be fake news…[….]Â
Much as we would like this to be true, the script for the movie is available online â and contains no such speech.
The fake meme has fooled many on twitter, including the reputable newspaper India Today, which reported it as fact on its website. […..]
However allegations that the new Presidentâs words were inspired by Batman villain Bane from The Dark Night Rises hold a little more water â although his comments are not such a verbatim copy.
Trump said: âWe are transferring power from Washington D.C. and giving it back to you, the people. For too long a small group in our nation’s capital has reaped the rewards of government while the people have born the cost.â
Bane did actually say: âWe take Gotham from the corrupt! The rich! The oppressors of generations who have kept you down with myths of opportunity, and we give it back to you, the people. Gotham is yours. None shall interfere.â
Awaiting a soggy morning glory here…as for trumps’ sucker supporters?  The first order of business was to tinker with the people’s real estate, their nests — killing the interest rate deduction in its tracks!    AND the remodel at Whitehouse.gov?  Citizens can sign-up for the movement and then they can enter the whitehouse zone…the opening screen is dark, throwing shade on our house, the people’s house, not the movement’s house!
wapo info on women’s march:
March organizers say the event will be a peaceful gathering to âpromote womenâs equality and defend other marginalized groups.â
And it is likely to be a big one.  As of Friday, the city had issued permits for 1,800 charter buses, including 1,200 that will park at the RFK Stadium, according to a spokesman for the District Department of Transportation. City officials said they were prepared to deploy officers to guide pedestrian and vehicular traffic. And security is expected to remain tight on the cityâs streets and  transit network. [….]
Demonstrators will gather for a rally at 3rd Street and Independence Avenue. The crowds will then march along the National Mall to The Ellipse, near the Washington Monument.
The location:Â The stage will be at 3rd Street and Independence Avenue by the National Museum of the American Indian.
The program:
8 a.m.â activities start with images and video on display.
9 a.m. â pre-rally with speakers, music and public service announcements.
10 a.m. â the official rally starts, featuring celebrities including Katy Perry, Cher, America Ferrera and Uzo Aduba
1 p.m. â participants start marching toward The Ellipse where the program will end.
Stealing a cake design and eating it, too. It’s the little things that tell.
Duff Goldman @Duff_Goldman
The cake on the left is the one I made for President Obama’s inauguration 4 years ago. The one on the right is Trumps. I didn’t make it. ?
Craig, that might be wishful thinking. Russian President is now in a hermetically sealed, golden bubble. In over his head regarding how government works. He might sign whatever is put in front of him and “move on” from criticism.
We have the gist of the people around him. But what of the people in descending orbits? Trickle-down Trump? They hire people who steal cake designs.
speaking of deserving something, cbs news:
Even before Trump sworn in, gamblers betting on his impeachment
U.K. bookmaker Ladbrokes puts even odds of an early exit for Mr. Trump through impeachment or resignation, while Paddy Power Betfair was offering 4-to-1 odds that he would be impeached within the first six months of his presidency. The Irish betting firm has 7-to-4 odds on the president leaving office early.
Ladbrokes has taken more than 1,000 bets over the past week on a Trump impeachment, causing odds to tumble, according to the company.Â
Bookmakers are also taking bets on what actions President Trump might take in the near-term, including whether he will visit Russia, which U.S. intelligence agencies have accused of orchestrating the hack of Democratic Party officials during the election, before the end of 2017. Betters can also take a punt on whether he will split with his wife Melania this year (16/1 on Paddy Power) or paint the White House entirely in gold (500/1 on Paddy Power).Â
[….]
Gamblers arenât the only ones who have predicted a potential early Trump exit. American University political historian Allan Lichtman, who has correctly forecast the outcomes of every presidential race since 1984 — including the real estate mogulâs surprise win in November — has said he expects Mr. Trump to get impeached because of his lack of public service experience, past legal battles and unpredictable nature.Â
Might sign whatever is put in front of him? Â He actually turned and ASKED where to put his signature. Â Then he had the mortgage & ACA ones explained to him. Â He used only one pen for each document (sorry folks no souvenirs). Â I hope he knows how to tread water because he is definitely in over his head.
The story was beelievable though
“The false trumpet concealing madness will cause Byzantium to change its laws…” Â Nostradamus
Vague non-sense? Maybe. Â Probably. Â But, it’s easy to plug in recent events to make it work. Â But which events?
Is Trump the false trumpet or is it Erdogan? Â Or, could the false trumpet be an event in that part of our small world?
At any rate, Turkey is voting to change its Constitution; powers from all branches of gov’t would be rolled into the Executive branch.
ps – I’m still relieved it wasn’t Hillary or Ted Cruz getting sworn in yesterday.
mitch, karma’s a bitch isn’t it:
Former President Barack Obamaâs appointee, John Brennan, resigned as director of the CIA effective at noon Friday. The CIAâs deputy director also stepped down.
For now, the CIA has delegated authority to the agencyâs executive director, Meroe Park.
Park, the No. 3 in the CIAâs hierarchy, is in charge of the agency until a permanent director and deputy director take the helm. Park is a career CIA official, not a political appointee.
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., blamed Senate Democrats for blocking a confirmation vote for Pompeo and leaving the CIA leaderless. The vote had been expected to happen Friday, after Trumpâs swearing-in as the 45th president.
âWe live in dangerous timesâ and itâs critical for the president to have a national security team in place by day one, McConnell said.
âThat includes, in particular, the director of the CIA,â he said. âIt makes no sense to leave the post open. Not for another week, not for another day, not for another hour. Americaâs enemies will not pause in plotting, planning and training just because the Democrats refuse to vote.â
McConnell tried to call for Pompeoâs confirmation by unanimous consent Friday, but Democratic Sen. Ron Wyden of Oregon objected.
McConnell agreed to give Democrats six hours to debate Pompeoâs fate on Monday.
As Wyden pointed out, the Senate has never confirmed a CIA director on Inauguration Day. Leon Panetta, for example, was sworn in on Feb. 13, 2009, several weeks after Obamaâs inauguration.
President Pussy Grabber is all about the way things look — no substance
the new theme of the killers of older Americans is “care not coverage” and the idea is that when you need “care” you should get it but not have all the care you may think you want. Â As opposed to the ACA with its emphasis on prevention and early intervention.
Pussy Grabber will be the worst president ever and I don’t deserve in any way the terrible things he is going to do and has already done
A friend of Mr Crackers who lives in New Orleans posted this….Idon’t think he has any illusions about President Pussy Grabber
FUCK YOU FRIDAY; Inauguration Edition:
And so the Bloated Boy King, who sees himself reflected in his golden commode and believes the sun shines out of his ass, ascends to the most powerful position in the most powerful nation in the world. He sees himself as if upon a throne, this piss ant Caesar; democracy is not a concept he has much use for. It requires too much equality, too much sharing, too much elbow-rubbing with the kind of people his beefy security wouldn’t allow through the front door of his “Winter White House” in Palm Beach.
He needn’t worry, at least for the immediate future. He and his cabal of enablers including the intelligence communities of Russia and our own FBI, and the American media – let’s forget the words “journalists” or “reporters” for now, they having been usurped by “pundits” who, when asked by the likes of the methane-based life-form Kelly Anne Conway, “Are you calling Mr. Trump a liar?” lacked the integrity to say, “yes” – have effectively put the democratic process into a blind trust from which, if we are lucky, it may one day emerge on unsteady legs, blinking into the light it once not only knew, but generated.
There are no guarantees that it will survive it’s ordeal.
The most basic checks required by law on conflicts of interest in business entanglements, the most miniscule requirements for suitability of individuals to fill positions of remarkable influence, the most fundamental requisites of human decency, have vanished without a whimper. Rules are for little people. The good and hopeful folks who over the last week or so posted videos of Bernie, or Elizabeth Warren, or Al Franken dragging the likes of Betty De Voss or Ben Carson or the other basket of incompetents destined for the Bazillionaire Cabinet over the coals, as if these mini show-trails by powerless inquisitors made any difference, are the same folks who clung to the idea of recounts in Michigan or Wisconsin, or that the election would be overturned by the Electoral College, as if political theatre was actually resistance, as if we have any idea of what resistance even looks like under these circumstances.
When it comes to effective theatre “The World’s Greatest Salesman” is, in his own words, “a ratings machine.” He has won the overnights, he has won the land.
He is also the most fragile of creatures, entirely lacking self-awareness, or impulse control, incapable of admitting wrong, or letting any imagined slight go unanswered, even at 4 a.m. when the resentment and anger that are at his core gnaws away at him.
He leaves after the coronation today for a week-long vacation back in his gilded enclave because he is afraid of The White House, afraid of the ghosts that haunt it, creeped-out by the chaotic history of the place, by its un-gilded decrepitude. It has, for fuck’s sake, no penthouse above the hoi-polloi where he can be delivered by golden elevator, where he can feel safe, where he can control everything he comes in contact with, where he can imagine himself truly a king.
It has no golden commode.
America, you did this, and I’m done with your nonsense for now. I dropped out back in ’67 and I’m doing it again. My cozy shotgun shack in New Orleans may be palatial compared to the one room made of scavenged wood and canvas and windows perched on the edge of the Western World where I lived at Wheeler’s ranch, but it is still falling down above my head and beneath my feet, and the wind howls through the cracks, but it feels right. It is time to devote myself to what feels right.
America, right behavior matters, as my friends and chosen family, and even my dogs know. I gritted my teeth when I voted in November because it was the right thing to do, not because I felt good about it. Now I’m off the hook.
America, I am poor in a land now wholly devoted to the preservation of the obscenely wealthy, not one of whom – our new President especially – could survive the lives that the majority of Americans actually live day after day, lives that are about to become even more difficult if the fucking pashas get their way, which seems likely. My retirement plan is to keel over while doing the work I love and be eaten by dogs.
America, if you come to your senses, if you can make it through your recovery program, if after your ridiculous extinction burst you need me, you know where I am; still out here in the Old Weird America, where we conduct our lives with kindness, and tolerance, and compassion.
Until then, go fuck yourself on your golden commode.
SNL’s wardrobe department has been working furiously on Kellyanne’s coat…I hope. Â Maybe they can add fishing lures to her bucket hat.
Distressed to read that climate change has been wiped from our gov’t sites. Â Thankfully, many forsaw this happening and archived the information.
If Trump is smart, Â he would put people to work on renewables (R&D, too) and ensure that we have long-term energy independence. Â That’s how you put America first and still have land/water/air to preserve a country in which to live. Â I think our best chance of that happening is having three ghosts visit him one night, or, if someone besides Oily McTilletsonuvabitch can get to him and show him there’s money to be made.
Hiaasen:
Never has a human personality seemed more ill-fitted for political campaigning â a bombastic, thin-skinned egomaniac, incapable of humility, grace or introspection.
Hardly any journalists, myself included, thought he could pull it off. His quest seemed doomed by the weight of multiple character defects.
The surprise triumph of the Big Orange Trumpster is very much a story of hope. The message is simple: These days, anybody â absolutely anybody â can become president.
You donât need facts. You donât need experience. You just need a good act.
President Pussy Grabber has already said it’s oil and coal he thinks are important

Tens of thousands women, determined to mount a roaring rejoinder to the inaugural gathering for Donald Trump, began descending on Washington Saturday morning for the Womenâs March.
Joined by husbands, boyfriends and children and coming from around the country, marchers quickly occupied a growing swath of terrain around the National Museum of the American Indian. March organizers, which originally sought a permit for a gathering of 200,000, said Saturday they now expect as many as a half million participant â potentially dwarfing Fridayâs inaugural crowd.
In the hours before the march officially began, participants threatened to choke Metro lines. Inbound trains were packed with pink-hatted protesters, and the transit agency reported parking lots full at several stations by 8:30 a.m.. A back-up of more than 100 riders struggled to exit through turnstiles at LâEnfant Plaza near the National Mall.
Is the weather still bad in DC Â if the march is YUGE then Pussy Grabber can’t use the excuse that people stayed home because of the weather
No need to scratch your head. Â There are more issues on the table than the environment, and, I would be unhappy to have Cruz or Hillary at the helm on many of them. Â Besides, Hillary pushed “safe fracking.” She had her dirty energy cronies, too.
OMG, I just saw the buttons on Kellyanne’s coat.
Someone at work, a Republican, looked out the window and the torrent of rain falling and made some kind of comment how odd is was for it to rain like this. Â I pointed out that DJT was just sworn in, and this is merely the Lord starting the 40 day flood again.
You should tell your stupid Republican friend about climate change apparently no one has told Texans about it
Rick Perry is in charge of  the energy dept  – he wanted to eliminate it.  Boy Howdy I sure am glad Pussy Grabber was elected  –
for lyrics composed in the early 70s (yep, almost 50 yrs ago… but then we only got the vote 100 yrs ago…so what’s the hurry), this is more than fitting for the march today:
I Am Woman
by Helen Reddy and Ray Burton
I am woman, hear me roar
In numbers too big to ignore
And I know too much to go back an’ pretend
‘Cause I’ve heard it all before
And I’ve been down there on the floor
No one’s ever gonna keep me down again
[Chorus:]
Oh yes I am wise
But it’s wisdom born of pain
Yes, I’ve paid the price
But look how much I gained
If I have to, I can do anything
I am strong (strong)
I am invincible (invincible)
I am woman
You can bend but never break me
‘Cause it only serves to make me
More determined to achieve my final goal
And I come back even stronger
Not a novice any longer
‘Cause you’ve deepened the conviction in my soul
[Chorus]
I am woman watch me grow
See me standing toe to toe
As I spread my lovin’ arms across the land
But I’m still an embryo
With a long long way to go
Until I make my brother understand
Oh yes I am wise
But it’s wisdom born of pain
Yes, I’ve paid the price
But look how much I gained
If I have to I can face anything
I am strong (strong)
I am invincible (invincible)
I am woman
Oh, I am woman
I am invincible
I am strong
I am woman
I am invincible
I am strong
I am woman
usatoday:Â Watch live: Women’s March on Washington
Kudos to CSPAN for covering the womens march, Michael Moore speaking now
Watching Elizabeth whats her name, She is starting to sound like Donald Trump, WOW she admitted that HER Government did not do a good job!!!! WOW
Some of the commentators on commercial stations are trying to dismiss the march by saying its got too many diverse agendas – are these people stupid or what
John King eat shit and die back to CSPAN the one good thing the cable industry did
I’d say just on the numbers and places alone President Pussy Grabber is the biggest loser
It’s always nice when someone can admit a mistake as oppsoed to Pussy Grabber

Finally home and enjoying a fresh meal of soft boiled eggs, bacon, hash browns and toast. Don’t join the Red Cross for the food, join for the fun of life. We eat a lot of fast food and junk food. Even MRE’s or heater meals.
Seems Mr. Peebody forgot to tell his cult followers to show up for the inauguration. He did not make his projected multi-millions of attendees. One estimate is about what George V.I. did the second time. Possibly a third of either of Obama’s, either one. There were a lot of protesters though.
One way to look at it, besides the bus count, were Metro parking garages. The floater, none full. Womens March almost every one of them closed by 11am. People were walking in on the 14th St. Bridge, unheard of, but the bridge traffic was at a standstill. MARC train full. I am waiting for the final estimate. Where I was this morning was a steady, and very heavy, stream of women with quite a few men.
Although there was trouble outside of the perimeter yesterday, it was contained. There were tens of thousands of law enforcement personnel available. Where I was, the only issue was when my shoe slipped on rain water on the bumper of our ERV and I proved that ARC volunteers cannot fly. My landing was a hip into the sharp 90 of the curb. I learned that D.C. streets are not smooth during my ambulance ride to the hospital. Fortunately no broken bones, hip or femur. But one nasty hip pointer to remind me of January 20, 2017.
What was very funny to my volunteer family and me is that the ERV we had was donated to the ARC by the Muslim Friends of America. And, the slogan was on three sides of the ERV. Many took pictures, most of them looked like they were not unhappy with the gift. However, there were a lot of others who looked very nasty and ugly about the gift. I would like to have the Red Crescent painted on the ERV too.
check out all the pussy hats  too funny
bbronc, glad to hear you weren’t wounded more than a badly bruised hip. are there red cross folks also out on duty for today’s march or do they think all will be calm?
one can’t help but to remember back at the violence visited upon the suffragettes at marches like this…. and those were supposedly more peaceful, genteel times.
kgc, here’s the pussyhatproject link with a pattern and instructions in case you want to make your own power hat.
this is part of the note they posted for all the hat creators a week ago:
Dear Knitter / Crocheter / Sewer,
Thank you for being a part of Pussyhat Project. There is no way we could do this without you. You are amazing. Because of your incredible work, Pussyhat Project is getting a lot of press and encouraging more people to join in the effort!
HAT PACKAGE:
When you assemble your hat package, please include a note for the marcher. Itâs a great opportunity to connect with those at the march and to let the wearer of your hat know more about you and have the opportunity to thank you for your awesome work.
If you are able, please put your hat with its note in a Ziploc bag. This will help us keep your hat package dry and together. The marcher can also reuse the bag.
REGISTER YOUR HAT
We are making sure that each pussyhat that is made will be on a marcherâs head. Please register your hat(s) here so we can have a clearer estimate of the number of hats coming into our collection point in Reston, VA and the number coming directly with marchers. This will help us plan for the number of volunteers we need, number of trucks, etc. We expect the day of the march to be somewhat hectic, so we have plans, backup plans and backup plans to our backup plans.
Here some things to consider when you register. We take your privacy seriously. We will never give out your full address or email. We would like to give credit to all of our amazing participants and hope to publish the following information from the registry on our website â first name/last initial, city/state and number of hats. If you would like to register anonymously, thatâs ok, too! If, when you register, you have difficulty in uploading photos, hold onto them and we will have a good address to send them to soon.
GET HATS TO MARCHERS
You can bring the hats with you if you are marching, give hats directly to a marcher, or drop them off at a drop site (call to find out their specific deadline). Our deadline to send hats to our Reston, VA address was today. If your hats are on their way to Reston, VA we are happy to collect them. Just know, the later they arrive, the more difficult it is for us to distribute them.
We prefer you register your hat and send it to DC with a marcher so we can have as many people ready to go with pussyhats as early as possible. It also means you may have a few extra days to keep making hats!
We will take good care of your hats whichever channel you use.

bbronc, you’re right about the metro riders today.
according to npr The city’s metro system reported 275,000 rides as of 11 a.m. According to metro officials that’s eight times more than a normal Saturday. Reuters adds that the number is also “82,000 more than the 193,000 rides reported at the same point on Friday,” the day of Trump’s inauguration.

Ashley Judd cuts off Michael Moore’s speech at the “Women’s March” in Washington DC Saturday January 21, 2017. Ashely judd goes off talking about “The Bloodstains On My Jeans” during her psycho rant. Ashley Judd also told the crowd “Our Pussies Aint for Grabbing”. Actress Ashley Judd read a poem by 19-year-old Nina Donovan from her home state of Tennessee. âI am a nasty woman,â the poem began. âNot as nasty as a man who looks like he bathes in Cheeto dust, a man whose words are a dis to America, Electoral College-sanctioned hate speech.â âI feel Her in these streets,â the poem continued, âNazis renamed.â Another line referenced Trumpâs past comments about the attractiveness of his daughter Ivanka: âIâm not as nasty as your daughter being your favorite sex symbol.â The poem also touched on why tampons are taxed but Rogaine isnât, the annoyance of unexpected periods, the pay gap in Hollywood and sexual harassment. âOur pâies ainât for grabbing,â the poem concluded. âThis pâ- is for my pleasure and giving birth to more nasty woman.âWatch Ashley Judd interrupt Michael Moore at the Women’s March on Washington Update on ‘Women’s marches live updates: American Ferrera, Michael Moore, Ashley Judd speak at packed … While speaking at the Womenâs March on Washington today, actress Ashley Judd used many of the complimentary things President Donald Trump has said about his daughter Ivankaâs beauty to accuse him of lusting after her. During an impassioned address to the crowd, Judd first invoked Trump calling Hillary Clinton a ânasty womanâ to go after him on many of the allegations about him and his administration. âI am not as nasty as racism, fraud, conflict of interest, ignorance, white privilege,â Judd shouted. She then went after Trump over Ivanka. âI am not as nasty as your own daughter being your favorite sex symbol,â she exclaimed. âLike your wet dreams infused with your own genes but, yeah, Iâm a nasty woman!â
guess Ashley’s not gonna make the game in time for the tip off. usually always there cheering on her wildcats.
The SECâs two remaining unbeaten teams in league play face each other at Rupp Arena as Kentucky takes on South Carolina at 6 p.m. on Saturday. ESPN has the broadcast.

Only about 1,459 days to go…
She better be carefull– liable to fall off the stage
Took me a while to realize that the snowdrifts along the sides of the roads were in fact the roofs of Don’s Johns.
flatus, are you listening to what’s being said at cia right now? he actually told them again that he’s a smart person… how it looked like a million people at inauguration and that the comparing photo put on twitter was a lie that he caught them in and stopped them. and on and on…. god help us.
Pussy Grabber went to the CIA to say the media lied about the number of people at his swearing in
he is crazy
Well, sounds like he’s generated a couple of exhibits for his commitment/impeachment events.
The only sensible thing for him to do is get on the hotline asking Vladimir for an accurate headcount. I’m sure his estimate will be spot-on.
Pussy Grabber thinks there were a million and a half people there — he has a lot of imaginary friends
if he’s upset with the comparison of his inauguration crowd with Obama’s, he’ll be apoplectic when they show the girls beating him. women’s march far far more… add in other cities and it’s even more than Obama’s and mlk maybe.
hopefully media replay in entirety his words of wisdom to the cia today. specially the part toward the end where he talks about how much he loves the truth.  wapo fact checker won’t have enough Pinocchio’s for that whopper.
his visit starts at 23 minutes in (mostly music up to that) and at 45:27 in is “i love honesty…”
these remarks are quite a study in megalomania:
A man concerned with nothing but self, so much so he made it a brand, complaining in front of a wall that memorializes those who gave their lives, anonymously, in service of country. Â What a disgrace.
ARC is not involved in today’s Women’s March. It is a First Amendment, Free Speech, event and non-government. The 4th on the Mall and inaugurations are government events and ARC is integral to those events.
Many of the important parts of the events are hidden. The law enforcement personnel who are undercover. The law enforcement teams who are sitting in vehicles waiting to be called in to action if necessary. I do not know the true numbers, just estimates of those in support roles. There are many who are sitting around hoping not to have to go into action. They are the reason the Capitol, Mall and White House area is the safest place on earth.
Apparently the first press briefing will be the proof that a million people attended Trump’s swearing in
Some people, thru the circumstances of their lives, can Peter Pan it until their dying day…..
others have to grow up somewhere along the way when circumstances convene to intervene and the resulting inconvenience is greater than the Will-to-Youth.
The presidency…..is one jamboree spectaculaire of convening and highly intervening circumstances, and it will strip a man down to his bare essence….his true character, as it were……
time: These Aerial Photos Show the Size of Womenâs March Crowds in 6 Cities
Hundreds of thousands of protesters turned out in massive crowds across the country
Hundreds of thousands of women and men on Saturday responded to the inauguration of President Donald Trump by gathering for the Womenâs March on Washington and for sister marches in cities across the country and around the world.
[….]
Aerial footage and photographs captured the size of the crowds. Hereâs what protests looked like in six cities across the U.S.:
Make you want to go paint doggies and shit.
Or go help build houses for po’ folks
and now the war of crowd estimation begins:
from think progress:
The Womenâs March is double the size of Trumpâs inauguration
Approximately 250,000 people went to the inauguration. And 500,000 went to the anti-inauguration protest.
Numbers v size is a square function. Twice the size would be 1M rather than 500k

I see DT is claiming that the numbers were under reported and that he had 1.5 million attendees.
Fine by me, we’ll use his math. That means that the Womens march was the biggest event EVEeeeeeerrrrr in all DC history at 3 million then add in the 5 million marchers from around the country, then using Trump math let’s say we round it off at 10 million protestors
Not a bad showing.
Congratulations to all.
Jack
Greta don’t know it yet, but she ended the same time as OJ
Poor little girl, such aspirations and winds up being “one of the jugglers and the clowns”……
I didn’t like Kelly Ann Conway a loooog time ago……….I’m ok wid dat…….but that suit she wore?
All I could see was red upside-down sailor hat.
I’m guessing Kelly’s designer was whoever designed the Rockettes’ costumes. Â Ok for a dance outfit but not so great for an inaugural dress. But then tastes are like assholes…
sign at the Santa Rosa March — make america think again
This may be a bit long. First a couple of catch-ups and then Iâll talk about my day.

Left just short of the end cause my ride had to go to work, also I wanted to watch as much of the Washington coverage as I could. There was a rally in Greenfield too but it was in the afternoon. I think they got a little over 1000-itâs a very small city/town? as is NOHO!
dv: âI pointed out that DJT was just sworn in, and this is merely the Lord starting the 40 day flood again.â Had a good laugh, then a good cryÂ
Pat: One of my favorite womensâ songs! I made a quick little meme related to that a few years ago. I was in that kind of mood and I had run across an image that looked like me when I was young so⌠Iâll probably just post it by itself after I post this comment.  Also incredible job of transcribing Ashleyâs speech. There were so many great speeches. PS: those Time aerial shots are wonderful. I saw a couple YouTube videos of marches in other countries today too.
I had a big day today, and Iâm plum tuckered out! Thatâs how we talk up here in New England, yâall LOL! Guess Iâm also giddyÂ
Probably because I havenât felt this energized and inspired in many years! Iâm an old Womenâs Movement throwback so these were my people today! Actually saw a couple old friends in Northampton this morning! There were a few thousand people and lots of pussy hats! I didn’t have oneÂ
(forgot to mention-I got up early & watched a replay of Bill Maherâs show from last night-very funny) Anyway, back to the marchâŚPretty great and Gloria looked amazing! I think she & Harry Belafonte were the original organizers of the event. Takes some old-timers who have been there, done that to put it all together. They were joined by many younger folks too and there seemed to be many people involved overall. Could be why there were very few problems. Someone mentioned the cut off of MMâŚthat happened a few times, as they were timing people. The Oscars could learn a thing or two from these organizers. It was announced at some point that there were many extra speakers so I guess they were trying to accommodate those people. I watched for several hours then my feed cut off and I didn’t get to see the actual march. I was pissed off until I saw a later report saying that the march had been cut short because there were so many more people than had been planned for. (I smell an orange rat) I had seen shots of the crowds when they were starting to head for their route. This was when the speakers were still talking. In different shots you could see just a sea of people slowly walking with their signs ânorthâ one of the organizers has pointed out what direction to go in and that people should start making their way because there were so many people they didn’t want a last minute mass of humans all trying to get to the same place. So many people that even watching them just starting to move was amazing. It looked like there was a street or something on either side of the stage gathering area and I just kept watching the tops of head and signs kind of floating ânorthâ like some surreal little stream. And no matter how many people I saw in this streaming ânorthâ procession, the crowd in the area from the stage and beyond kept looking like none of those people had moved. Tonight I saw a TV bit where they estimated over a  quarter million and a BBC piece that said close to a half million. Trumplstiltskin will never agree with either of those figures, of course. Anyway Iâm tired but excited. I finally ate dinner just before I came over here. So thatâs a day in the life of someone who used to do this stuff a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away. It was exciting and nostalgic and got me fired up to keep making my memes and making phone calls and tweets etc!
Craig: Thanks for removing the offensive photo. I had written a very long paragraph about it because it was still there when I started catching up on todayâs posts, but now I see itâs finally gone! I had wanted to try and explain why I was upset about it. (short version) I have a lot to lose and this man wants to take away what little I have along with the rights of me and members of my family! Iâm so worried about der fuhrer! I canât even watch more than 2 minutes of him on the news. Almost everything that comes out of his mouth is a lie, an exaggeration or incoherent, so I click off. Anyway thanks!
Wow, don’t know what happened to the emoticons but they’re gigantic on my page right now!
Pat: here’s the meme I mentioned
Aziz’s monologue was fantastic. Â The Kellyanne “Chicago” bit was spot on. Â But “To Sir, With Love,” made me throw up in my mouth a little. Maybe, after the contrast of Donald trumping stuff up, the contrast will make me nostalgic for Obama, though. We’ll see.
