Trump’s Post-2016 Plans?

It scares me to crawl into Trump’s head, but here’s what I see. What do you see?

Trump knows he’ll lose so now his “rigged election” claim sets up a claim that he was robbed, priming the pump for an independent run in 2020. Giving him the stage for the next four years to hurl whatever creative prevarications he can imagine to attack Hillary’s presidency. And he could muster enough support to get in the debates four years from now.

I don’t see Trump walking away from this loss. He won’t be able to let it stand, just as he moved from his humiliating business failures (which belied his grandiose book “Art Of The Deal”) to a revival of his financial empire (and his next book, “Art Of The Comeback”).

Guess what? Clinton supporters should welcome this. It would likely deprive the 2020 Republican nominee of the votes needed to defeat HRC’s reelection.

  3. trump will be 74 in 2020 and many of his older supporters will have passed on (of course, per guiliani, they might still vote).  I do not see this hate growing and I hope the FBI is keeping track of the bad men.

    I call the Faux news line 1-888-369-4762, everyday.  Today…I did get through!  The comment mailbox has been filled for weeks.  As I have posted, Faux news is now legitimate with Wallace as debate host.  A whole generation believes in distorted news.  I believe they are not alt right, but close enough to that media crowd.

His son in law has now floated the idea of a Trump TV network.  I doubt Donald wants to do anything other than golf and hang out with hangers on.  Easy way until he keels over from his red faced, overweight heart attack is to turn over the bills and the bank allowance to the kids.  Ivanka can sell her clothes.  Uday and Koosay can live off their trust funds and the son in law moves right wing radio to right wing TV headlined by Alex Jones selling gold futures to the already mind numbed true believers.

    Democrats launched a GoFundMe campaign that raised over $13,000 in just 10 hours. The campaign reached their goal of $10,000 before it closed the fund, no longer accepting donations.

    The campaign was created by David Weinberger, a research fellow at the Berkman Center for Internet and Society at Harvard Law School. The GoFundMe page had this message:

    “On October 16, a North Carolina headquarters of the Republican Party was firebombed, and an abhorrent threat was painted on its outside wall

    “As Democrats, we are starting this campaign to enable the Orange County, North Carolina Republican office to re-open as soon as possible.

    “Until an investigation is undertaken, we cannot know who did this or why. No matter the result, this is not how Americans resolve their differences. We talk, we argue, sometimes we march, and most of all we vote. We do not resort to violence by individuals or by mobs.

    “So, let’s all pitch in, no matter what your party affiliation, in and get that office open again quickly.”

    Over 500 people contributed to the campaign with some leaving comments with their donation.

    One donator said, “Not a republican, but we all stand together against such anti-democratic violence”, while another added, “This is not an official effort of the Democratic Party. It is the effort of a half dozen Democrats (of which I am one). This is a moment for graciousness, not fractiousness.”

    Trump is the logical extension of the worst of America.
    With him you get a man who believes himself superior in every way: through the gift of fortune and the happenstance of chromosomes. He believes the rules simply don’t apply. Not rules that govern the sovereignty of another’s body, not rules that dictate decorousness.
    And the Republican Party was just the right place for him to park himself.
    When you have a political party that takes as its mission to prevent government from working instead of to make government work, a party that conflates the ill effects of a changing economy with the changing complexion of the country and is still struck by fever over the election of President Obama, Trump is a natural, predictable endpoint.

     Imagine if Clinton had rampaged for a week against a former beauty queen, and even tweeted encouragement to “check out sex tape” of the woman — even though such a video did not exist.
    Imagine if Clinton had said, “You know, it doesn’t really matter what [the media] write as long as you’ve got a young and beautiful piece of ass.”
    Imagine if Clinton had been so lecherous that her daughter, at age 17, made her promise not to date any boy younger than 17. And if Clinton then joked publicly that as a result “the field is getting very limited.”
    Imagine if Clinton had seemed completely ignorant of nuclear strategy and NATO yet said she knew “more about ISIS than the generals.”
    Imagine if the Clinton Foundation had failed to register properly, had made an illegal campaign donation and had expended resources not on saving lives from AIDS but (possibly illegally) on two giant portraits of Hillary Clinton herself.
    So is there a double standard in American politics, indeed in American society, subjecting women to greater scrutiny? You decide.

    On a separate topic, picking up the Machiavellian theme that was floated here last week, I am of the belief that it was RW nutjobs supporting trump who firebombed the NC GOP HQ.  Initially, that is not in character with NC black voters (and that is where the Trump downfall in NC is coming from)and secondly claiming it’s Hillary supporters who did it creates an image of Black Panthers that is so old and dead it takes someone of Trumps age group to even remember it.  Third, it is entirely consistent with the groups that it supposedly targeted – RW alt-right nazi groups who associate with the Trump cause.  Finally, One of the groups the Trump campaign is running against is , wait for it, the GOP establishment.  Oh, I suppose that NC dems could have done the deed, but they are low on my list of suspects.

I would not be surprised to read in the immediate future about a bloater found stuck in the restroom of  his bedroom at faulty towers.  The autopsy reveals no heart, ala Cheney, the cranium is full of used TP, and the rest of the bloater filled with floaters.  In other words, he died of overeating fast food grease and super high blood pressure.  His life style, age and rage did him in.

    What happens to the cult leader followers?  With luck they make up a minority of the Republican Party and are a minor party by 2020.  The new party created from many of the former Republicans of moderate and right, but not far right, becomes the new party of the American two party system.

  41. He most absolutely is headed towards the Trump Freedom network (or whatever he calls it).  I doubt he really knows what the job of a US President is – and doubt that he wants to do it.  It’s one of the toughest jobs in the world – for little pay compared with the responsibilities.

    This is just a deal Trump wants to win.  He likes the attention and cameras.  He will open up his network and be a pain in the ass to this country for years to come.  He has Ailes in his camp right now – he wants to do some serious damage to the Fox news network – and he probably will.  And he’ll make billions.  This may have been one big con job.

Andrea should brush up on her history.  The controversy in the 1960 election was over the listing of unpledged delegates in the southern states – primarily Alabama (my home state) – by the segregationist democrats who ran the joint back then.  It didn’t work. Did she say HOW Kennedy stole the election?  I assume she’d say Illinois and New York were flipped by dead people voting and picking up on Rude-y’s theme, multiple times.  (Kennedy won Illinois by 8800 votes (damned close, but really, did that many dead guys vote?) and New York by 383,000 (no way that was dead guys voting).

    With the possible exception of the claim that the insane regulations Republican legislatures impose on abortion clinics are intended only to safeguard women’s health, there is no more disingenuous argument anyone offers in American politics today than the idea that Republican vote suppression efforts are truly about stopping voter fraud. Indeed, the kind of fraud that things like ID requirements prevent — voter impersonation, where one person claims to be another person in order to cast an illegal vote — is an astonishingly inefficient way to attempt to steal an election, which is why it almost never happens. One researcher conducted a comprehensive investigation of elections from 2000 to 2014 and was able to find only 31 credible allegations of voter impersonation in the entire country, during a period where over a billion votes were cast.

    So let’s be honest: When Republican legislatures try to make it as hard as possible for certain people to register and vote, they know that their warnings about the supposedly dire threat of voter impersonation are, as the late Antonin Scalia would have said, pure applesauce. As a judge in a case involving North Carolina’s restrictions put it, despite Republicans’ insistence that they were only concerned with the integrity of the election, the law in question was actually constructed to “target African Americans with almost surgical precision.” In other states, Republican legislatures have been broader in their vote suppression efforts; for instance, a law passed in Texas would accept hunting licenses as valid ID to vote, but not student IDs from state universities. The fact that Republicans can claim without breaking into gales of uproarious laughter that that’s about anything other than making it harder for Democrats to get to the polls is a tribute to their commitment to their cause.

    So spare us the indignant reaction from Republican election officials who themselves have worked so hard to place roadblocks in front of minorities trying to vote, when they discover that their base bought all their bogus rhetoric about fraud and don’t trust the electoral process. As President Obama said the other day in so many words: You built that. The real vote fraud is the Republican scare campaign over the myth of voter fraud, and they’re no less accountable for what’s happening now than the man their party nominated for president.

    Apparently somewhere at some time the FBI made some requests involving FBI agents overseas.

    Clinton’s emails were being reclassified by the FBI and the State Dept was disputing the reclassification and The Stumpettes are trying to make it look there was a deal

    The FBI denies that and points to no changes in the classification and

    the Clinton campaign of denies everything and just shakes there

     

    Where is the evidence they promised about the women  under audit?

  60. Andrea is older now-will turn 70 a week from this coming Sunday. Besides a full-time job with varied hours and lots of travel, she has an elderly husband to watch over.

    Each of us enters our dotage on our own schedule; watching a vital, energetic, mentally acute person slip into decrepitude begs the question, when will it be my turn? Or, has it already started and friends and family are simply talking behind our backs?

    Now, we all know that Andrea will be invited into the corner office one of these days for the inevitable discussion of her ‘timetable’.

    Personally, I think we are insane nominating septuagenarians as candidates for our highest office. Who here would place a similarly aged relative in charge of their affairs for the next eight years?

     

  61. I believe that I posted a prediction of a post-election trump tv network. I am happy to say that I believe he will attempt to find venture capitalists to finance such a venture. However, unless the russkies or Iran are willing to invest, I don’t see it flying for long, if at all. Who would advertise on a trump-branded channel, unless it ran programming in Moscow, Singapore or Hyderabad ? Iow, I don’t see a fox style network feeding itself or the investors.

    Ala qvc, trump the Elephant Slayer could sell Great White Hunter safaris and high-end weaponry, Ivanka & Melancholia could sell their rags and beads, trump and his son-in-law could sell Florida swampland, erich could sell green frog products and fantasy swords & heraldic devices, and david duke could sell memberships in the Hidden Impure.

    One of the reasons Andrea’s on air persona drives me crazy is that I see similar if not quite as severe slowing in myself.  Fortunately, most of my conversations are with my son and friends who know when I pause mid sentence it is because a word has temporarily gone walk about and I need to wait for its return.  🙂

    Fortunately, the acuity is fine so far, but little compensations must be made for age.

    I can easily pass for white, but I’m a muttish Euro/Asian with an odd name of Turkish origin. As to my being wealthy, I’m fairly middling in the US, but fabulously wealthy compared to the rest of the planet. Regarding the snooty Edina style, one has to look very prosperous in that town to impress the police. I don’t drive new Bentleys or Mercedes Benzes, and always manage to look rumpled, so my appearance wouldn’t help my case over there. My appearance and economic power certainly never helped me in Mpls, St Paul, or Maplewood, in which places I’ve been threatened, roughed up, or had guns pointed at me, by arrogant or jittery policemen and policewomen. Just not in Edina.

    I only had one client in a case involving Edina police. It was about a wedding and party at a hotel in the middish ’60s. Apparently some wedding guests got loud and obnoxious, and refused to leave. So, the management had the police come and arrest the bride and groom, who happened to be Blacks, but not the people who caused the commotion. The police released the couple in the AM without charge. The lawsuit was against the hotel, and ended in a pyrrhic victory.
