Trump Prosecution?

Former Atlanta US Attorney Bjay Pak has joined other DOJ officials testifying to Senate Judiciary in secret. Much speculation he quit because of Trump pressure to mess with Georgia election. I so hope we’re heading toward AG Garland greenlighting DC US Attorney to prosecute Trump. Maybe the strategy is for a criminal referral from Senate Judiciary. Something is going on, that’s my best guess. What I’m imagining is this testimony from DOJ officials Trump pressured establishes proof of seditious intent Jan. 6.

  1. be nice if they could also bring in u.s. attys from AZ and PA about his calls to their states.  probably could hear some dirt from some of the other swing states too

  2. rudy, rudy, rudy, how far you’ve fallen.

Giuliani to Justice Dept. agents probing ‘big surprise’: It’s okay to ‘throw a fake’ – The Washington Post

Rudolph W. Giuliani’s promise of a “big surprise” to help Donald Trump’s election in October 2016 led to Democratic accusations the FBI was feeding him secrets about an investigation of Hillary Clinton.
But a newly obtained transcript shows the former New York mayor told federal agents it was okay to “throw a fake” when campaigning, to which his then-law partner added, “there’s no obligation to tell the truth.”
Giuliani’s comments came in a 2018 interview with agents for the Justice Department inspector general, conducted in a room at Trump’s hotel in downtown Washington. The Project on Government Oversight, a government watchdog group, sued for a copy of the interview transcript and provided it to The Washington Post on Wednesday.

Giuliani’s public credibility has suffered significantly since 2016. He is under investigation by federal prosecutors in New York for his dealings with Ukrainian figures in the run-up to the 2020 election, and his license to practice law has been suspended in New York and D.C. over his unfounded claims of fraud in the 2020 presidential election.
At the time of the interview, Justice Department Inspector General Michael Horowitz was looking into claims that FBI agents may have tipped off Giuliani to a decision by then-FBI Director James B. Comey to reopen an investigation into Clinton less than two weeks before the 2016 election.

rudy’s another person investigators should call in to color in background for case against the disgraced former guy.   what’s rudy got to lose since his dear loser client left rudy out to dry and not paid his lawyer bills?   i foresee easy peasy plea deal in rudy’s future.

  3. Hope that they can roll up  Junior, JarJar, etc., to shut the down their future, political grift, as well.

“The rebellion is spreading”: After local Texas officials defy his ban on mask mandates, Gov. Greg Abbott begins to clamp down

“If we have local officials who just defy law because they feel like they know better, then we end up with little dictators all over the state and we don’t have any rule of law and we lose our representative government that we vote for,” Paxton told Hasty.“

“Little dictators” mandating masks to save lives v Paxton’s, I guess, big dictator, Abbott, who wants kids to get sick and die?

“While Greg Abbott brags about banning mask mandates in Texas, the largest and most populous counties in the state are imposing them on citizens,” said Huffines, a former Dallas state senator, adding that “it is past time” for Abbott and the Legislature to override the local requirements and “impose real consequences.”

“Matt Rinaldi, the new chairman of the Texas GOP, tweeted Tuesday night that Abbott should add the issue of rogue local leaders to the list of items state lawmakers should take up during the current special session.“

The GQP in Texas is as rampant as the Delta variant.

  4. https://www.cnn.com/2021/08/11/politics/rand-paul-wife-stock-gilead-sciences/index.html

“Republican Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky revealed Wednesday that his wife in February 2020 purchased up to $15,000 in stock in Gilead Sciences, the maker of the antiviral drug remdesivir.“

“The senator ought to have an explanation for the trade and, more importantly, why it took him almost a year and a half to discover it from his wife,…”

Maybe they aren’t on speaking terms. Could you blame her?

  5. There is something we need to be cognizant of, and I think the prosecutors are, that no matter what happens to the former guy, his cult members will think of him as a martyr.  Whether it is in a trial and then prison, or it strokes out and dies this afternoon, his band of crazies will hoist the carcass up on the cross of blood.

  6. bbronc, hopefully a paid for abortion or two will come to light as well as photos/records of dalliances with epstein’s minors.  maybe throw in concrete evidence of loser guy denigrating his gullible followers would help too to wipe away any thoughts of martyrdom.

  7. BlueBronc…  I hear ya.  At first I thought it wouldn’t be prudent to prosecute SFB… but I agree…  no matter what happens to him.. his cult will make a martyr of him.  So may as well put the piece of shit in jail.

  8. https://www.texastribune.org/2021/08/11/texas-voting-bill-filibuster/

“The Houston Democrat was on her feet speaking, not allowed to sit or lean against her desk, and unable to take bathroom breaks or drink water, since Wednesday evening. But ultimately the bill she opposed passed Thursday on an 18-11 vote.“

“Unable to take bathroom breaks or drink water, she had worn a back brace, eyeglasses and running shoes and talked slowly behind a desk stacked with papers and with a microphone in her hand as she mounted a 15-hour filibuster. “

“Do we want access to our electoral process to be more difficult for people with disabilities, or do we want to remove barriers for them?” she asked. “For communities of color, do we want to defend the tremendous progress that we’ve made in civil rights and equality or chip away at their voting rights one Senate bill at a time?”

“[President Lyndon B. Johnson] said the Voting Rights Act struck away the last major shackle of the fierce and ancient bond of slavery,” Alvarado said at the onset of her effort. “Senate Bill 1 is a regressive step back in the direction of that dark and painful history.”

Republicans are running scared. Cheating Americans out of their right to vote is the only hope they have of holding on to power.

  9. CNN: Palm Beach County schools, just three days into the new school year, has already reported 51 cases of COVID-19 as of 10 a.m. Thursday; 14 employees and 37 students. 440 students in quarantine

  10. Heckuva job, Palmy

The Palm Beach County School District seems to be paying close attention to air filters. I wasn’t able to get a list of which schools have the MERV-13s, but the district has been buying as many as they can, and installing them in buildings where they fit.

The MERV rating system measures a filter’s power to capture particles in the air; the higher the rating, the smaller the particles, including bacteria and viruses, the filter is able to trap.

“MERV-11 HVAC system air filters are being replaced with MERV-13 filters wherever air conditioning design allows (without negatively affecting airflow, and in full compliance with HVAC equipment manufacturer requirements),” a district spokeswoman told me. “For the schools not being upgraded to MERV-13 filters, 1-inch filters will be changed every 30 days, instead of every 45 days, and 2-inch filters will be changed every 60 days, instead of 90 days. The new MERV-13 filters will be changed every 90 days.”

In addition: “If a filter slated for replacement with a MERV-13 filter has not been changed recently (1-inch filters within 30 days and 2-inch filters within 60 days), the district will make sure it is replaced with a new filter until the MERV-13 filter is installed,” she said.

As for ventilation rates, which measure how often the air changes over the course of an hour, the district doesn’t calculate the rates at schools regularly, more on an as-needed basis, said Stacey Marshall, director of facility services.

    duhhhhh

(fine filters restrict airflow MORE so that needs to be compensated for with more powerful equipment, every room should exhaust to outside, anyway)

((Also, from what i understand, covid travels on saliva and water droplets that are filtered by mid-range filters, ultra-high rated filters are overkill, and as aforementioned, restrict airflow))

  12. bad news for those guys in the white sheets and pointy hats today

Census shows US is diversifying, white population shrinking (apnews.com)

The U.S. became more diverse and more urban over the past decade, and the white population dropped for the first time on record, the Census Bureau said Thursday as it released a trove of demographic data that will be used to redraw the nation’s political maps.
The new figures offered the most detailed portrait yet of how the country has changed since 2010, and they are sure to set off an intense partisan battle over representation at a time of deep national division and fights over voting rights. The numbers could help determine control of the House in the 2022 elections and provide an electoral edge for years to come. The data will also shape how $1.5 trillion in annual federal spending is distributed.
The figures show continued migration to the South and West at the expense of counties in the Midwest and Northeast. The share of the white population fell from 63.7% in 2010 to 57.8% in 2020, the lowest on record, though white people continue to be the most prevalent racial or ethnic group. However, that changed in California, where Hispanics became the largest racial or ethnic group, growing to 39.4% from 37.6% over the decade, while the share of white people dropped.
    […]
The start of the 2020 census for most U.S. residents coincided with the spread of the virus last year, forcing the Census Bureau to delay operations and extend the count’s schedule. Because census data is tied to where people were on April 1, 2020, the numbers will not reflect the loss of nearly 620,000 people in the U.S. who died from COVID-19.
On top of the pandemic, census takers in the West contended with wildfires, and those in Louisiana faced repeated hurricanes. Then, there were court battles over the Trump administration’s effort to end the count early that repeatedly changed the plan for concluding field operations.
    […]>
For the first time, the numbers will not be entirely accurate at the smallest geographic levels due to a new privacy method used by the Census Bureau. The method inserts controlled errors into the data at small geographic levels, such as neighborhood blocks, in order to protect people’s identities in an era of Big Data.
Jarmin has warned that the process may produce weird results, such as blocks showing children living with no adults or housing units not matching the number of people living there.

  13. Anytime the Yahoos wave flags and bellow about “patriotism” and the “Homeland”, immediately reread Twain’s “War Prayer” because a major fuck up will follow.  17 years for Iraq.  20 years for Afghanistan.  Thousands dead,  drugged, and destroyed.

  14. Patd

And the 2020 census was crippled by the pandemic and Trumplestilskin’s racial scare tactics.  As a result, it is likely that minorities were severely under reported.

P.S. This is the first census likely to have on it anyone born before 1950. I can’t wait to find out where I was since five different locations are possibilities.

  15. That Salon op-ed is rather spot on –

But ultimately, I’m not even that mad at the gym. No, who I am mad at is the willfully unvaccinated, people who, out of irrationality and often raw Republican tribalism, got us into this mess in the first place. I am incandescent with rage that millions of Americans are putting it on the rest of us to protect them from COVID-19, just so they can avoid a simple, free shot that is available at every pharmacy.
Republicans, always ready to destroy lives for some perceived political gain, aren’t even hiding anymore that they think being pro-COVID is good politics. As CNN reports, there’s “a GOP-wide effort to use the fears and frustrations of Americans worried about another round of school closures and lockdowns as cudgels against their Democratic opponents.”

  16. I was wrong,  the wingnuts are not going to run into a buzz saw circling  the Covid Cul de Sac.
Is more like a industrial wood chipper.

  17. My bother in-law runs the food program  at a large retirement community here.  Both single units and more traditional type units .  He can’t hire staff  , so he has been working his ass off since the beginning.  Hotels here are paying $18 dollars an hour for maids.  A crazy number for Texas, just last year.
What the right thought about this at the beginning when they took this path  is frying a lot more people than doctors , nurses, EMT’s, teachers ,  etc. etc.

They did not have a platform  in 2020 to run on.  In 2022 they will be running on the graves of school kids.

  18. So much of all this was road tested  with Obama , and long before.  Remember Vince Foster ?   Remember that little “birther” who came by everyday here posting  that “concerned troll song and dance ?
But the really big move came with climate change.  That’s when big money  really started flowing into our civic bloodstream.
The hack of the e-mails , we know as “Climategate”.

An asshole named David Rose at the Daily Mail would post  an op-ed . Two days later Anthony Watts  would fluff it up ,  next day  Fox News was howling out about it as gospel .  They did that for several years.
I got five dollars the Russians  hacked all those e-mails.
The only flaw in all this , the people running all this  never banked on , ” Jewish space lasers starting fires in California”.

  19.  There is no “freedom” when a  burnt out doctor  is trying to snake a plastic tube down your throat.  And when his nurse is putting you in a comma, your “personal choice” just flew out the window.

  20. It is hard to under stand how this much of America has failed to understand how this vaxx is greatest  milestone in human health  ever.

    And it’s fucking  free.

  21. My God, she is so smart –

“Many are making it look as if the fashion industry are starting to take responsibility, by spending fantasy amounts on campaigns where they portray themselves as ‘sustainable,’ ‘ethical,’ ‘green,’ ‘climate neutral’ and ‘fair,'” Thunberg said. “But let’s be clear: This is almost never anything but pure greenwashing. You cannot mass produce fashion or consume ‘sustainably’ as the world is shaped today.”
In the same interview, Thunberg also criticized celebrities and politicians who claim to be for climate change solutions but get onboard private jets.
“Of course I’m not saying that celebrities shouldn’t fly in private jets, as I make a point of never ever telling anyone what to do — but we need to understand that by doing so we may lose some people who won’t believe in what we are saying,” Thunberg said.

  22. Let’s see ‘em gerrymander this.

People of color make up 95% of Texas’ population growth, and cities and suburbs are booming, 2020 census shows

“Setting the stage for what is expected to be a bruising battle over political representation, the results of the 2020 census released Thursday showed that Texas’ explosive growth over the past decade was again powered by people of color.”

“Texans of color accounted for 95% of the state’s population growth.“

“Texas Republicans hold every lever of power to try to lock in or even expand their majorities at the state Capitol and in Congress. But they will be working to redraw the state’s political maps while confronting the demographic reality that the state is growing in ways that put the party’s stranglehold in question.“

  23. https://www.cnn.com/2021/08/12/politics/supreme-court-indiana-university-vaccine-mandate/index.html

“Justice Amy Coney Barrett declined a request to block Indiana University’s vaccine mandate, signaling that similar policies going into effect amid a Covid-19 surge could pass legal muster.”

“Lower courts have ruled against the students, citing a Supreme Court decision from 1905, which said that a state may require vaccines against smallpox.“

Mmmmaybe the students filing suit against the school’s vaccination policy aren’t smart enough to go to UI.

  24. There is a wave building ,and a lot of trump heads are heading for that wood chipper.
Fear and anger drive voters .  The wing nuts have made a very bad bet.

One last item on this rant  ……………….
A lot of old bikers that went SD this year , will drive the price of Harleys down , as they die, and their hospital bills will force the sales of their assets.

Mark my words.  This is coming.

  25. i’m just kidding about nuking Florida.  Not about them being incredibly stupid, though, i’ll stand by that

  26. So how did Peter Fonda’s death two years ago escape my notice?  I guess the laugh’s on me. Seriously, sorry to hear about that.

  27. By the way, every moron i know from Florida moved there from someplace else, it’s like a vortex for morons

  28. Hey pogo, my pachysandra patch is nam d after you, even before our big fight, it’s the “Pogo Pachysandra Patch” because it’s under my ginkgo

(i’m going to go visit it, now, ‘cuz it’s a nice little spot)

  29. My pops was a love-able shithead, so when Phoebe says “i don’t forgive you, but please don’t hold me to it”, not only do i relate, but i cry, every fucking time
