Stupid fuck. WaPo.
Only NK has conducted a nuclear test since 1998. Stupid bastard doesn’t know the difference between a nuclear powered weapon platform and a nuclear weapon. Oh, and is he oblivious to the fact that testing nuclear weapons is the antithesis of promoting peace, just unclear in what he means, or has he decided that demonstrating military strength is more important to his image than seeking the NPP?
pog, he’s trying to channel ronny’s slight of hand on peace
Reagan Quotes – Peace Through Strength
Meeting this mission for the responsibility of preserving the peace. Which I believe is a irresponsibility peculiar to our country. We cannot shirk our responsibility of leader of the free world because we are the only one who can do it. And therefore the burden of maintaining the peace falls on us. And to maintain that peace requires strength. America has never gotten into a war because we were too strong.

Portland Police Flip the Narrative — Feds Provoked the Chaos
Portland police testimony in yesterday’s federal bench trial is damning — basically all four witnesses, including the commander, said the federal agents tried to provoke violence during protests that were mostly peaceful and manageable. Their testimony demonstrated no need for the federal escalation.
Franz Schoening, a commander with the Portland Police Bureau (PPB), testified that federal agents at the Federal Protective Service (FPS)-guarded ICE building in Portland “repeatedly fired tear gas at non-violent protesters.”
Schoening said that PPB did not observe violence or behavior by protesters that would justify the kind of force used by the federal officers. He said:
He compared current protests (at the ICE building) with the 2020 George Floyd era protests and made clear this was a “completely different type of disorder” — saying the justification for heavy force is weaker in this case. Schoening testified PPB had switched from its Incident Management Team to “Watch Command” from June 25 onward because protests had diminished.
Schoening also testified that there were discrepancies between what FPS reported and what PPB witnessed:
— FPS reported being “barricaded and trapped.” PPB observed officers coming out and using force.
— FPS reported fires being lit; PPB saw no evidence of that from aerial surveillance.
— FPS said there were threats to life safety by protestors; PPB said the “threats” were basically people holding rocks across the street.
Opening statements:
From the city’s side, represented by Caroline Turco (Portland city lawyer), the claim is from June 24 to Sept 27 protests were “calm and manageable” and that Sept 28 marked the pivot when federal officers began using “unjustified force on peaceful protesters.”
From the federal defense, Eric Hamilton argued that the protestors had used “violence and threatened violence” for months, and that there was a request to the Governor to deploy the Guard which was refused, justifying federal deployment.
This bench trial will determine whether Judge Karin Immergut’s temporary restraining order preventing National Guard deployment will become permanent.
Why It Matters
Yesterday’s testimony directly challenges the federal government’s justification for deploying the National Guard and federal troops. If the local police are saying the protest situation was not out of control (and in fact that federal officers escalated things), it undermines the claim that deployment was necessary under the statutes governing domestic military use.
This morning started early, heavy rain against the windows. We did not the water. I finally got a new top for my home percolator, yay no more drip coffee (again). Perc coffee is smoother, richer and not bitter.
I do not know who thinks quoting krasnov is good. He has no clue about anything anymore. The best is him announcing a “deal” with Toyota, which Toyota immediately stated there is no deal or even talks about a deal. He spent a good amount of time staggering around, reminding me of Frankenstein’s Monster, a look of not being in the moment. I would not be surprised he was filled with drugs and those drugs wore off at inopportune times.
BluB, what do you use? I am interested in percolating coffee again. Remember back in the day it tasted better, curious to find out if it’s just my imagination.
Craig – Initially I dug out one of my boat percolator pots, useful without electricity. I keep one in the house just in case the power is out overnight. After a couple days I did a search for electric percolators, like we used to have before Mr. Coffee arrived. The jungle site (starts with A) listed several. I picked out Elite Gourmet EC812 Electric 12-Cup Coffee Percolator with Keep Warm, at the time it was cheap. Now $47ish. The only thing that has really changed in fifty plus years is grinding coffee beans. I had been using the swirling blades of death types, which requiring skill to get a decent grind for perc. A few years ago I bought a good burr grinder which produces the correct grind all the time.
Is there a contingency that House Dems could use to gavel in and swear in the AZ Rep, and take away the speakership from MAGAt Mike, and censure those Repugz who are AWOL per Mike’s/tRUMPsky’s directive?
Just thinking to what Texas has done when Dems left, although the TX House was open for business and the TX & US constitutions are not the same.
You’d think Pelosi would have a chess move to undermine Repugz…so maybe there’s nothing and we no longer have a government.
It’s going to take outside FORCE (not just pressure) from many countries to tamp down tRUMP/Thiel/White Heritage.
Between blowing up fishermen in international waters, kidnapping and disappearing foreign nationals from US streets and businesses (S Korea/Hyundai), and now testing live nukes for the first time in decades (no wonder he’s upgrading the Pedophile Bunker under the Epstein Ballroom)…if our military won’t undo the coup, there may need to be massive, orchestrated regime change from other countries.
As far as I know BiD there is only one way to do those things: WIN THE MIDTERMS
Thanks BB, i’m going for it. Yes I do have a very nice Burr grinder, and yes it really does make a huge difference!
I forgot about filters. I use those in the boat percs, but not in the electric perc. There is a slight difference in hole sizes. There is almost no grounds getting through.

This is so scary. Such ignorance about literally life threatening matters. Nothing in this post is correct. Russia has a few hundred more nuclear weapons than the United States (and has for years). Trump did not accomplish “a complete update and renovation of existing weapons” during his first term. China is building more but is unlikely to “be even” in 5 years.
Craig – Let’s say Dems take the midterms and there are no Republican shenanigans (at least successful ones). Will all elections in all states be certified? What’s to allow newbies to be sworn in, or will it be prevented like MAGAt Mike is doing with the Rep from AZ?
The government shutdown is part of the coup. Starving folks to try to get Dems to bend on ACA is a ruse. We have no functioning government. We have no representation.
If anyone thinks SNAP and Medicare and ACA are the end of the cruelty, wait until they seize Medicare and Social Security.
The tRUMPsky/Thiel/White Heritage cabal has ransacked the country for treasure and data.
We can’t wait for midterms because midterms might be overridden if Dems are even allowed to win.
Boycott as much as possible, call/protest to Congress daily, vote next Tuesday (if you haven’t already), stockpile canned and dry goods, share some of it with your local pantry, and protest if there’s one near you.

https://statuskuo.substack.com/p/meet-the-fascists-first-up-greg-bovino
Bovino is a senior Customs Border Protection official. He fancies himself some kind of an obergruppenführer under High Chancellor Trump. This was what he wore to a CNN interview. No, really, it was.
(pic makes him look like a big boy; he is not)
In the above image, Bovino appears quite imposing. But that may be overcompensating.
Before we cheer what Judge Sara Ellis did to take this little man down yet another peg, let’s get the backstory on why there was a hearing in the first place.
Chicago media organizations, protestors and local clergy had filed a lawsuit accusing federal agents of a “pattern of extreme brutality.”
The fact that Bovino had to come into court to answer for his orders and his actions understandably drew media and protestors, who shouted “Lock him up!” as he strode by them, still dressed in his fatigues. Here’s a clip from that moment. (Warning: strong language.)
Far from his normal belligerent persona on social media and in interviews, and in stark contrast to how Trump officials have acted while under questioning from Congress, Bovino on the stand and under oath was contrite and respectful.
While Bovino assured her that he and his forces would comply, Judge Ellis wasn’t satisfied. She insisted Bovino report in person to her at the end of every work day. Federal judges are now quite wise to efforts by defendants to get around court orders and regularly set out compliance terms in their orders.
Bovino had no questions and left the courtroom. Once outside, however, his braggadocio returned. Bovino used military-like hand gestures to order his forces to depart while protestors jeered and cursed him.
In early 2021, Bovino sent agents into Kern County for arrests at gas stations and highway stops. Of the 78 people arrested, only one had a criminal conviction.
Internally, CBP officials raised concerns that Bovino’s love of spectacle resulted in significant work to clean up his missteps, such as posting sensitive law enforcement information on social media.
In 2022, when Bovino became sector chief in New Orleans, he cancelled a job listing and used a transfer to hire a close white friend while two Black finalists were passed over. An email from the friend compared Bovino to a Confederate general with the New Orleans office filled with Black soldiers from the Union.
Bovino has popularized the use of “PR videos” within DHS that utilize highly stylized, militant and Christian nationalist imagery to recruit new agents and demonize immigrant communities.

South Korea welcomes Trump with its highest award, a golden crown and ketchup
South Korea welcomed U.S. President Donald Trump on Wednesday with a replica gold crown and awarded him with the “Grand Order of Mugunghwa”, the country’s highest decoration, the presidential office said.
“I’d like to wear it right now,” Trump said when presented with the glittering award. A South Korean official said he was the first U.S. president to receive the honour.
U.S. and South Korean warplanes escorted Air Force One on approach, and on the tarmac a South Korean military band greeted Trump with a rendition of “YMCA” and guns fired a salute.
Lee is hoping to win concessions from Trump in drawn-out negotiations aimed at lowering U.S. tariffs on South Korea, and has wooed the U.S. president by praising his outreach to North Korea.
Lee’s office said that in recognition of Trump’s role as a “peacemaker” on the Korean peninsula, he was awarded the “Grand Order of Mugunghwa”, which is named after South Korea’s national flower, a pink hibiscus also known as the Rose of Sharon in English.
*Stop sucking up. What they did to workers at the Hyundai factory was inhumane. Orange Adolf will turn on anyone and everyone, unless a lot of folks stick together and gang up on him. He (tRUMP) is not the US.

On the menu were “mini beef patties with ketchup”, a “Korean Platter of Sincerity” featuring U.S. beef and local rice and soybean paste, and grilled fish with a glaze of ketchup and gochujang, a red chilli paste.
The lunch was capped by a “Peacemaker’s Dessert” consisting of a brownie adorned with gold.
The day will wrap up with a dinner with the leaders of Vietnam, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Thailand, and Singapore. The leaders will be served Trump Chardonnay and Trump Cabernet Sauvignon, from a winery run by Trump’s son, Eric Trump, according to Lee’s office.

Healthcare Price Transparency Could Be the Solution to Future Shutdowns
In case you missed it, RealClear Health published an interesting article that highlighted the positive impact that my Patients Deserve Price Tags Act could have on preventing future government shutdowns, as well as impacting the present healthcare cost crisis.
As the article says, “Since 2000, hospital and health insurance costs have increased by 257% and 342%, respectively, around three times faster than overall inflation. Without addressing these runaway costs, Congress will face pressure to increase subsidies every year.
“Taxpayers spend over $100 billion a year on ACA subsidies, yet average exchange premiums have more than doubled since 2014 and are expected to rise another 18% next year. As an added insult, approximately 35% of exchange enrollees filed no medical claims last year — meaning taxpayers are padding insurer profits for nothing in return.
“A real solution is the bipartisan Patients Deserve Price Tags Act that introduces systemwide healthcare price transparency, which can actually bend the cost curve and make healthcare affordable through choice and competition. Sunlight, not subsidies.”
*Another email from a POS (Republican) Senator. What’s the point of a price tag if you can’t afford it? What’s the point of taxes that go to insurance companies instead of directly to providers for CARE? It sounds like he needs to chat with Bernie Sanders & Elizabeth Warren.

i’m pretty sure dipshit’s nuclear posturing is inspired by the movie I mentioned on Netflix called “house of dynamite”, which is basically a play that dramatizes a failed response to a nuclear strike on the United States
Life imitates art when you have a moron in charge
The movie is a criticism of nuclear proliferation, but of course our national moron took the exact opposite and wrong message from it
and if you think it’s absurd that a disposable movie on a streaming service influences US nuclear arms policy then we agree
So funny. I left another voicemail after the last email and hit another email from the Senator.
“…subsidies to wealthy insurance corporations alone would cost taxpayers some $40 billion a year; this is not sustainable.”
So, of course I called him back and reminded him that he just voted to give tax cuts to billionaires in perpetuity, and if they just taxed them…and also if they regulated the heck out of insurance companies…
they could just cordon-off emergency and preventative healthcare services, subsidize them, and have insurance for everything else
May not be a perfect solution, but who else has any solutions I ask you
Or Trump can use the trillions of dollars of alleged tariff revenue, and subsidize the entire fucking industry
TRUMP’S PORTLAND POWER GRAB ON TRIAL
Portland cops say feds gassed our guys — and we wouldn’t have done it
🚨Update 3:30pm ET
The city attorney brought out the big guns (video-style) before the lunch break: showing federal law enforcement shooting chemical munitions at a crowd outside the ICE building — and yes, the people reeling included folks from Portland Police Bureau on bicycles — including one who just testified about it during this federal bench trial on whether President Trump can legally deploy troops to the Oregon city.
Craig Dobson, an assistant chief at the Portland Police Bureau who was among those gassed, testified he would not have trained his officers to fire like that — because he didn’t see indicators that justified that level of force.
So here’s the kicker: when your own agency says “we wouldn’t do this,” and the opposing side says “they did do this,” asks the obvious question — who exactly is upholding protocol and who just winged it.

Why This Trial Matters
Then everyone does their preventative, annual physical (which insurance companies had started to carve away covering things as being diagnostic v preventative way back under my employer’s policy), and folks wait to get bad enough for an ER visit.
Adolf hates ACA partially because it’s referred to as Obamacare. Just increase ACA subsidies by the amount of inflation (or to match Social Security COLA, which is less than inflation), and call it tRUMPcare. Kiss his wide, white backside. It’s all he understands.
Yeah, he’s either watched TV or someone has whispered in his ear and shown him a clip of something, so now he’s going nuclear. Bad for the environment and living things, even if tested underground. Donny Dumbass probably wants to see a mushroom cloud. Hope he gets a frontier seat, if that’s the case.
Anon – Yes, Xi, Putin and tRUMPsky want to carve up landmasses into thirds. We discussed that during his initial Greenland, Canada, Panama threats.

ICE Barbie Says She Wants to Traumatize Kids on Halloween Even More
Chicago’s ICE units will be spending this Halloween masquerading as human beings.
Federal agents will still be patrolling the streets and nabbing undocumented immigrants while children trick or treat across the Windy City, according to Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, despite appeals from Illinois Governor JB Pritzker to hold off for the night.
“There is a lot of ICE activity, obviously, in that city … but the governor has asked you specifically to pause immigration enforcement operations in Chicago so he says that kids can safely celebrate Halloween,” said Fox News’s Sandra Smith during a Thursday afternoon interview. “Do you have any plans to alter activity tomorrow on that day?”
“No, we’re going to be out on the streets in full force and increase our activities to make sure that kids are safe,” Noem said. “Every day in Chicago we’re arresting murderers, child pedophiles, those who have perpetuated assault and pornography against children.”
Noem’s hatred for rapists only extends so far, however. She doesn’t seem to have any problem with Donald Trump, who was found liable for sexually abusing Elle columnist E. Jean Carroll, and who maintained a tight-knit relationship with notorious child sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein for years.
Meanwhile, ICE’s presence has made some cities across the country significantly less safe. Earlier this month in Portland, Oregon, mistaken friendly fire between federal agents caused officers to escalate their efforts against anti-ICE protesters, resulting in officers firing a barrage of rubber bullets into a crowd that also contained local law enforcement, Portland’s police commander testified Wednesday.
https://www.thedailybeast.com/illinois-gov-jb-pritzker-asks-ice-barbie-kristi-noem-to-stop-scaring-kids-at-halloween/
Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker has urged ICE Barbie Kristi Noem to let kids enjoy the Halloween holiday and stop the clampdown on migrants.
He wrote to Department of Homeland Security Secretary Noem “respectfully requesting” the suspension of citywide operations from Friday through Sunday, “so children can safely celebrate Halloween.”

President Donald Trump has claimed he could send the Navy, Air Force, and Marines into U.S. cities to do “whatever I want” and the courts would not stop him.
As tensions escalate over the administration’s deployment of the National Guard, Trump warned that he could “routinely” invoke the Insurrection Act to bypass the legal system if he wanted to use all arms of the military against his own citizens.
“If I want to enact a certain Act, I’m allowed to do it,” he said.
“We haven’t chosen to do that because we’re doing very well without it, but I’d be allowed to do that, you know that, right? And the courts wouldn’t get involved. Nobody would get involved, and I could send the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines. I could send anybody I wanted.”
This month alone, the president has also said he could keep killing suspected drug smugglers without congressional approval, claimed he was the nation’s “chief lawmaker” as he called for the DOJ to go after his enemies, and suggested through his press secretary that he could demolish the Jefferson Memorial without needing legal authority.

Democrats leave classified briefing on US military strikes unsatisfied after Trump administration pulls Pentagon lawyers
Democrats say the Trump administration still won’t share critical details of recent US military strikes on suspected drug boats in the western hemisphere, asserting that Pentagon lawyers were pulled at the last minute Thursday from a briefing on Capitol Hill.
As they emerged from the closed-door session, they railed on the administration for not being transparent and appearing to flout the law. The briefing came a day after Democrats say they were shut out of another meeting where administration officials shared information on the strikes with their Republican colleagues.

King Charles III announced today that he is stripping his brother, Prince Andrew, of all royal titles and honors.
“His Majesty has today initiated a formal process to remove the Style, Titles and Honors of Prince Andrew,” a statement from Buckingham Palace read. “These censures are deemed necessary, notwithstanding the fact that he continues to deny the allegations against him. Their Majesties wish to make clear that their thoughts and utmost sympathies have been, and will remain with, the victims and survivors of any and all forms of abuse.”
The announcement comes shortly after Andrew gave up the title of Duke of York, hoping to end the “distraction” his scandal caused.
With the removal of his honors and titles, Andrew must also leave the royal residence. Andrew is the first prince to be stripped of his title since 1919, when Prince Ernest Augustus lost his British titles for siding with Germany in World War I.

Four emails from one Senator today. I called and they sent an email, and it continued on like that until the last email was received at 7:13pm. I guess he/his staff insisted on having the last word.
To date, the government has collected more than $88 billion, paid by US importers, from the emergency tariffs in question.
*Collected. Where is it? Does TACO Don have control over it? If we are tariff rich, why can’t we afford healthcare and food subsidies?
From 2025 through 2034, the tariffs would raise nearly $2.3 trillion in tax revenue, shrinking GDP by 0.5 percent and work by 489,000 jobs before accounting for retaliation from trading partners, and increase taxes by an average of more than $1,600 per US household every year.
Fentanyl tariffs target imports from our three largest trading partners: China, Mexico, and Canada.
*We are importing Fentanyl? Are they just calling them “Fentanyl tariffs”
because they say that’s where it’s coming from ;even though it’s Venezuelan fishing boats they’re blowing up?
Several US businesses sued the federal government over the tariffs (Learning Resources, Inc. v. Trump), arguing they exceeded the president’s authority. The plaintiffs are small business owners, including American manufacturers and retailers, and several state attorneys general.
On May 28, a panel of judges at the US International Court of Trade unanimously ruled that the IEEPA tariffs were illegal, a decision that was upheld by the US Court of Appeals on August 29. The tariffs remain in effect while the administration prepares its appeal to the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court will hear oral arguments on November 5.
So far, evidence shows the tariffs have raised overall retail prices by about 4.9 percentage points relative to the pre-tariff trend. If the Supreme Court upholds the tariffs, we should expect prices to rise even more in the coming months.
If the Supreme Court strikes down the tariffs, the Trump administration may explore other avenues to impose higher tariffs.
*Other avenues?
https://www.cato.org/commentary/trumps-trade-fight-just-getting-warmed
*YEP, OTHER AVENUES
If courts strike down his Liberation Day tariffs, he has other options to implement import taxes.
As the recent steel and aluminum moves demonstrate, for example, administration officials can increase existing tariffs’ magnitude and scope under either Section 232 or Section 301. They also have initiated several other investigations under these laws and have threatened even more in the future:
Section 338 of the Tariff Act of 1930 is a short and ambiguous law that authorizes the president to impose tariffs of up to 50 percent on imports from countries that have “discriminated” against U.S. commerce as compared to what another foreign nation does.
Section 122 of the Trade Act of 1974 empowers the president to unilaterally address “large and serious” balance-of-payments deficits via global tariffs of up to 15 percent for no more than 150 days (after which Congress must act to continue the tariffs). The CIT mentioned this law as the more appropriate way to address the trade deficit “emergency” that supposedly justified the Liberation Day tariffs imposed under IEEPA.
…mainstream judges from across the political spectrum both understand the serious economic harm caused by continuing the tariffs (even if they’re eventually refunded) and harbor serious skepticism that a president can unilaterally impose trillions of dollars in new federal taxes simply by declaring a (bogus) national emergency.
*So, US companies pay the import tax/tariff, which increases the cost of goods…and if the tariffs are found to be illegal and refunded to the companies, the consumer is still out the extra money AND once prices go up, they rarely come down.
In recent weeks, viral social media posts have sparked confusion across the United States, claiming that the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) has started sending out $2,000 tariff rebate checks to American citizens.
These claims exploded after President Donald Trump mentioned in an interview that he was “looking at something” related to $1,000–$2,000 payments funded by tariff revenues.
Soon after, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed that while the idea was being studied, no policy or decision had been finalized.
*LoL. You’ll get your check in two weeks, MAGAts. Folks here think that $5,000 DOGE check is still honing your show up. LoL
So, TACO Don’s tariff shenanigans are shrinking the GDP, killing jobs, increasing prices to consumers, he started a rumor of a rebate check which is unlikely to materialize, and there has allegedly been some insider trading by members of Congress (mTg, for instance) who knew about the tariffs before they were announced as being on and off and on, and if they are found to be illegal and are refunded the consumer still eats it and we’re left with inflated prices.
Are we great yet?

Protectionist tariffs, promoted as a path to American prosperity in the Heritage Foundation’s plan, have historically led to destabilization, job losses, and deep economic pain. Without careful planning, today’s executives may find themselves presiding over a slow-motion corporate collapse.
The Mandate for Leadership explicitly advocates for a sweeping repatriation of American production and heavy tariffs on foreign goods. This philosophy is rooted in economic nationalism — the belief that domestic self-sufficiency is paramount, even at the expense of global integration and efficiency.
Pursuing self-sufficiency has led to economic collapse in nations like Venezuela, North Korea, and Argentina. These economies, once vibrant, deteriorated under the weight of protectionist policies and authoritarian rule. Ironically, many of these leaders have been publicly admired by former President Trump, who has expressed praise for autocrats embracing nationalist economic models. If the United States mirrors their strategies under centralized, dictatorial leadership, it risks replicating their failures: declining productivity, inflation, scarcity, and widespread hardship.
*It’s all a part of their damned plan, but the arrogance of the white nationalist n&zis at the White Heritage Foundation has fooled them into thinking the outcome will be different if they do it v North Korea, or the recently bailed out Argentina.
Add in Curtis Yarvin, MuskRat, and Peter Thiel; accelerationism , dark enlightenment, technocracy. They know it will collapse and they intended to be the beneficiaries.

“THE CHOICE IS CLEAR — INITIATE THE ‘NUCLEAR OPTION,’ GET RID OF THE FILIBUSTER,” Trump posted Thursday night on his social media site, Truth Social.
*Waaaait, the “nuclear option”? Is that why he thinks we should test our nukes? JK (sort of).
Senator Chris Coons on Capitol Hill today: “I’m alarmed by reports President Trump is considering allowing Nvidia to sell China their most advanced CHIP. It’s called the Blackwell. It’s 20 times more powerful than the CHIPS he’s recently allowed access to. The defining fight of the 21st century will be who controls Al. It would be a tragic mistake for President Trump, in order to get some soybeans out of China, to sell them these critical cutting edge Al chips.”

*Is that how he got China to buy out soybeans? Will investigate in the morning.

Vice President JD Vance came under a lot of fire Thursday after he sided with Christianity and expressed his wish that his Hindu wife Usha Vance who, according to JD is not a very religious person, embrace Christianity. JD Vance converted to Catholicism in August 2019, long after JD Vance’s marriage to Usha Vance.
A few weeks ago, MAGA commentators floated the idea of a Vance-Kirk ticket for 2028 — JD Vance being the presidential candidate and Erika Kirk, the VP candidate. JD Vance is currently the top choice for the 2028 presidential candidate, apart from Marco Rubio.
But in the past few weeks, support for Vance-Kirk grew louder for Vance-Rubio. But after Vance addressed the Turning Point USA event at the University of Mississippi, the chatter took a different turn and many MAGA supporters insinuated that JD Vance will divorce Usha Vance and will remarry Erika Kirk before his 2028 run because they argued that JD Vance knows America will not accept a ‘Hindu First Lady’.

“The prime U.S. soybean export season normally runs from October through January, but China has shunned soybeans from the autumn U.S. harvest this year, amid protracted trade friction with Washington, turning instead to South American suppliers,” Cao and Thukral reported.
“COFCO has proceeded to purchase U.S. beans even before the two leaders have reached a trade agreement,’ said a trader at an international trading company that supplies Chinese crushers,” Cao and Thukral reported.
“The volumes booked by COFCO are not that large, three cargoes for now.’”
“Although COFCO’s deal for December-January shipment of about 180,000 metric tons of soybeans was China’s first such buy in months, traders do not expect a significant resumption in demand for U.S. cargoes after recent large South American purchases.”
“It’s unclear if China will commit to fixed volumes of US soybeans, and there’s uncertainty over how any deal would be implemented,” Gu and Cang reported. “With Chinese soymeal prices still weak, even a rollback of tariffs to pre–trade war levels may not make it profitable for Chinese crushers to take American beans, the people said.”
*So…? Soybean sales to China will no longer be zero, but not at the level previously? No mention of Chios for beans. All docs I found about Nvidia was that they were OK’d to sell those extra-special chips to China months ago.

AI revolt: New ChatGPT model refuses to shut down when instructed
OpenAI’s o3 model raises AI safety fears after sabotaging commands for its own self-preservation
The tests involved presenting AI models with math problems, with a shutdown instruction appearing after the third problem.
By rewriting the shutdown script, the o3 model was able to prevent itself from being switched off.
The latest research builds on similar findings relating to Anthropic’s Claude 4 model, which attempts to “blackmail people it believes are trying to shut it down”.
“When we pitted AI models against a powerful chess engine, o3 was the model most inclined to resort to hacking or sabotaging its opponents.”
The behaviour was not limited to o3 , with Anthropic’s Claude 3.7 Sonnet and Google’s Gemini 2.5 Pro also sabotaging shutdowns, though OpenAI’s model was by far the most prone to such behaviour.
*Too late to pump the brakes on AI?
