Treason

I’ve long thought smearing Biden was a beneficial secondary goal for Trump. Primarily he was serving Putin’s interest in undermining Ukraine’s new government. Dems aren’t saying that but not difficult to get it from their presentations.

Adam Schiff on fire to Senate last night: “Can you have the least bit of confidence that Donald Trump will stand up to Russia and protect our national interest over his own personal interest? You know you can’t. Which makes him dangerous to this country… Right matters. Truth matters. Otherwise, we are lost.”

  1. That’s trump with a capital ‘t’, and that stands for treason.

he’s not called tovarich trump for nothing.

  2. Daughter Sue and I fly out of Columbia early tomorrow and return on Sunday. Events are tomorrow afternoon with the Service on Saturday. The weather looks appropriately dismal. I’ll take a bottle of brandy just in case.

  3. I was in the car for 2 hours this afternoon after today’s festivities began.  I just keyed up the feed and Hakeem Jeffries is saying almost exactly the same thing I heard Schiff saying at around 2:30.  I know that repetition is important in legal arguments – I use it all the time – but after the complaints about repetition after yesterday they should reign that in.  That said, I heard Nadler and one female manager – Sylvia Garcia I’d guess – and Schiff – and on  the whole I thought the presentations were excellent and to the point.  The explanation of the demands for the Biden investigations (or more accurately, announcements of investigations) and the Crowdstrike BS were particularly focused and clear.

And I hear uber wussy Lindsey left the chamber so that he didn’t have to hear his own words played back from 1999. What an utter waste of oxygen. In case he reads this blog, here’s what he said:

“What’s a high crime? How about if an important person hurts somebody of low means? It’s not very scholarly, but I think it’s the truth,” then-Rep. Graham said. “I think that’s what they meant by high crimes. It doesn’t have to be a crime. It’s just when you start using your office, and you’re acting in a way that hurts people, you’ve committed a high crime.”

  4. flatus – brandy is such a nice thought.

As I keep stating, the Dems should have tossed in a bit of treason activity to make sure there was something lively to talk about.

  5. Desperate McConnell now arguing to GOP colleagues Trump will fight witness, evidence subpoenas in court. In other words create precedent would-be dictators can forever stonewall Senate.

  6. XR, tragic… simply tragic.
I’m flipping between the impeachment hearings and Aussie Open. Both have their moments. Serena (8) is down a set and a break to Wang (27). She’s the women’s tennis version of Brady or Rodgers. Flashes of her old self but not what she once was.

  7. Adam Schiff on fire to Senate just now: “Can you have the least bit of confidence that Donald Trump will stand up to Russia and protect our national interest over his own personal interest? You know you can’t. Which makes him dangerous to this country… Right matters. Truth matters. Otherwise, we are lost.”

  8. Agree Craig, but now I’m listening to the PBS recap and all I can say is, Jim Lehrer, get your ass back here the kids are trashing the place. What a bunch of idiots.

  9. Bink, you’re a braver man than I. But then again you have youth on your side. The going in of the fruit roll went well – that’s the beginning of the story…

  10. Um, I just tried to leave a message for my Senator, but the mailbox is full.   I wonder if it’s actually full of messages, or, if they just made sure nobody could leave a message?

  11. pogo, you’re on  (with a little change btw of changing an errant “you” in your draft to a “to” with hopes that’s what you meant to say).
