A little report I spotted on twit this morning has significant impact on how Ukraine is going to be treated by the world soon. NATO invite Ukraine President to the next NATO meeting. So far I have not found anything in U.S. media, and only a little Reuters article. What I saw was NATO nations had agreed to bring Ukraine into the organization. Maybe later today it will show up here.
Sometimes you have to search away from the U.S. media to find out what is going on in the world. This started in earnest under the village idiot and cheney reign, where a total blockaid of non-censored reporting was put in place for media coverage of the war in Iraq and Afghanistan. I learned that reading the Yahoo news from U.K. back in 2004.
NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg has visited Kyiv for the first time since Russia’s invasion last year, telling Ukrainians their country’s future belongs in the alliance as President Volodymyr Zelenskiy proclaimed that “it is time” an invitation was extended to join the group.
Stoltenberg arrived in the Ukrainian capital early on April 20 on an unannounced visit as fighting raged in the east and Moscow continued to launch attacks with dozens of drones on civilian infrastructure in several regions.
Stoltenberg reaffirmed the alliance’s position that Ukraine’s future lies in NATO, but stopped short of offering a clear timeline while reiterating that the 31-member bloc will continue to offer support to Ukraine in its fight against the 14-month Russian aggression for as long as necessary.
“Let me be clear: Ukraine’s rightful place is in the euro-Atlantic family. Ukraine’s rightful place is in NATO. And over time, our support will help you to make this possible,” Stoltenberg said.
“NATO stands with you today, tomorrow and for as long as it takes,” Stoltenberg said, adding that the alliance had trained tens of thousands of Ukrainian soldiers and given 65 billion euros ($71.31 billion) in military aid alone.
Moscow has given several reasons for launching what it calls a “special military operation” against Ukraine, including saying several times that it needed to prevent Ukraine’s accession to NATO, which would pose an existential threat to Russia.
Stoltenberg also invited Zelenskiy to attend a NATO summit scheduled for July in Lithuania’s capital, Vilnius.
“There isn’t a single objective barrier to the political decision to invite Ukraine into the alliance,” Zelenskiy told a news conference with Stoltenberg in Kyiv, adding, “it is the time for the corresponding decisions.”
Speaking a day before a meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group at the Ramstein Air Base in Germany, Zelenskiy also appealed to the alliance chief to help overcome the hesitancy of some members to provide long-range weapons to Ukraine to help it repel Russian forces.
“I addressed the secretary-general with a request to help us overcome the reluctance of our partners regarding the delivery of certain weapons, namely long-range weapons, modern aviation, artillery, armored vehicles,” Zelenskiy said.

Woodford Reserve Mint Julep
Ingredients
2 oz Woodford Reserve 1 oz water 4 sprigs of fresh mint 1 tsp sugar Crushed ice
Instructions
In a copper julep cup rub 2 pieces of fresh mint around the cup to express the oils. Add Woodford Reserve, then the water and sugar and stir with a bar spoon. Add crushed ice to the top then garnish with sprigs of mint.
I would crush my mint with my bourbon. it makes a stronger flavor. A bit like you would with a mojito.
Then use soda water. but your milage may vary.

We did not go into this and say, “What we are certain about is that we want to hold up a bank, and we will figure out the rest of the plan after we get there!” We went into this saying, “We are principled individuals, with clear, realistic goals and we will stop at nothing to attain those goals!” We are not quickly Googling what goals are; we have them ready to go. Right now! Yes, they are coming! Here they are!
We are only barely the tiniest bit still hammering out some details of what the demands are, but we know that we’re going to blow this whole place if they aren’t met! That’s how demands work: You hold everyone hostage while you figure them out! That’s the order things work best in!
You know how it goes. When people protest, they first decide, “Today is a good day to take to the streets.” They gather their blank signs, they go stand in the midst of traffic, and then they figure out what it is they’re there to protest. Ditto when a union goes on strike. First, they decide, “We feel like stopping work!” Then, and only then, do they figure out why.
Likewise, when the House speaker refuses to raise the debt ceiling unless his demands are met, he figures that first thing out first, then the second thing. It’s time-honored.
