  1. context for Psalms 34:17

14Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it. 15The eyes of the LORD are upon the righteous, and his ears are open unto their cry. 16The face of the LORD is against them that do evil, to cut off the remembrance of them from the earth. 17The righteous cry, and the LORD heareth, and delivereth them out of all their troubles. 18The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.

  2. And while we’re talking about the White House roof, let’s get into why he was up there. Talking with architects about his transformations of the place. Can anybody stop him from turning something that would make the Sun King blush. I had always thought presidents could only alter the living quarters on their own orders???

Trump Administration officials are gathering to create a strategy for putting the Jeffrey Epstein scandal to rest, ICE is relaxing its recruiting standards, RFK Jr. is cutting funding for mRNA vaccine research, and the president wants to eliminate two satellites responsible for measuring carbon dioxide emissions.

  5. Check my math but at $200 million for a 90,000-square-foot ballroom that’s $2,200 a square foot. Is that the normal cost for such a thing? And I’ll believe private donors are paying for it when the checks clear.

  6. speaking of some recent creativity, looks like south park is still at it BIGLY according to Forbes
    https://www.forbes.com/sites/siladityaray/2025/08/07/south-park-skewers-trump-administration-again-shows-noem-killing-puppies-and-toddler-sized-jd-vance/

    Topline
The second episode of the newest season of “South Park” continued to mock President Donald Trump and his administration as Wednesday night’s episode primarily focused on DHS Secretary Kristi Noem—who is shown killing puppies—and a toddler-sized version of Vice President JD Vance.

    Key Facts
In the episode, titled “Got A Nut,” one of the show’s recurring characters, South Park Elementary School Counselor Mr. Mackay, is shown losing his job due to Trump’s budget cuts targeting the Department of Education.

Mackay then decides to take up a job with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), where Noem appears in an orientation video, where she admits to putting her puppy down “by shooting it in the face,” something the Department of Homeland Security secretary previously admitted to doing in her 2024 memoir.

The animated Noem’s puppy-killing becomes a recurring gag throughout the episode, along with her face melting away and having to be constantly patched up by a team of makeup artists.

The episode shows ICE carrying out raids at a live Dora the Explorer concert, among other locations, and Noem instructs the agency’s officers: “Remember, only detain the brown ones!”

Aside from Noem, the episode also pokes fun at Vance, who is shown as a toddler-sized sidekick of Trump who constantly shadows him around Mar-a-Lago, much to the president’s irritation.

The episode once again depicts Trump as a lover of Satan and someone with small genitals.

they could’ve saved a lot of money with a twofer: combine paving over the rose garden with using the roof of an underground ballroom. also would give him a big spider hole to hide in come the revolution.

Ah, yes, just when you think the federal government couldn’t possibly come up with a dumber idea, along comes Secretary Kristi Noem—bringing all the brilliance of a chewed-up rubber mouse—to announce there will be no age limit for Americans to join ICE. That’s right. ICE. The law enforcement agency with a track record more questionable than a litterbox after taco night… More at link

  10. Building costs in DC are about $500 per square foot, but this cost can fluctuate based on factors like the complexity of the design, materials used, and labor costs. If you take it up over $2,000 that is a lot of gold bling.

  11. Anything that is part of the WH should be “hardened” to some extent. You don’t want your average magat celebrating with a shotgun and the thing fall down.

  12. Just spent some time in the cult world of sfb. Some of them are seeing problems buying food stuff as the tariffs targeting agriculture imports. Twenty-five to one hundred percent price increases are hitting hard. Some, not most, are learning that tariffs are paid here. A thirty percent tariff of goods coming in can hurt. It does not matter that the other country puts a zero percent tariff on American goods there, the U.S. does not pay that.

Nero envisioned something unprecedented. Unlike predecessors who sponsored discrete structures like Pompey’s Theater or Augustus’ Mausoleum, Nero plotted a radical transformation of Rome’s urban core—not with personal wealth, but with imperial coffers. His vision? Converting the Palatine, Esquiline, and Caelian hills into a sprawling Grecian paradise called the Domus Aurea (Golden House).

  16. In all the dancing and lying about the wonder of tariffs, has FF mentioned that:

Nearly 2 million Americans on unemployment, highest since pandemic era
Continuing claims for unemployment benefits jumped to 1.97 million in late July, according to a Labor Department report, highlighting a weakening labor market.

The number of Americans receiving unemployment benefits for at least a week rose to the highest level since November 2021 in the latest sign of widening cracks in the labor market.

Workers who have received benefits through a “continued claim” for unemployment insurance jumped to 1.97 million in late July, up from 1.85 million in early January, according to Labor Department data released Thursday. New filings for unemployment claims remain low, rising by just 7,000 last week.

The figures reinforce the increasingly weaker labor market landscape. Even without a large pickup in layoffs, many Americans cannot find new work and are facing longer bouts of unemployment. A separate jobs report released last week showed that employers are hiring at close to the slowest pace in more than a decade, excluding the pandemic.

  17. White House spokesperson Taylor Rogers fired back at the Season 27 premiere in a statement provided to USA TODAY on July 24.

“The Left’s hypocrisy truly has no end — for years they have come after ‘South Park’ for what they labeled as ‘offense’ (sic) content, but suddenly they are praising the show,” Rogers said. “Just like the creators of ‘South Park,’ the Left has no authentic or original content, which is why their popularity continues to hit record lows.”

The Ground Floor, State Floor, and residence floors of the White House are approximately 55,000 square feet. This number does not include the West or East Wings.

Today there is a marker embedded in the floor of the White House Entrance Hall which includes the dates of the four major instances of White House construction and renovation: 1792, 1817, 1902, 1952. 1792 represents the year that the cornerstone was laid, and construction began on the White House. 1817 marks the rebuild of the White House after the British burned it on August 24, 1814. 1902 commemorates the Theodore Roosevelt renovation which modernized the White House for the twentieth century and established the West Wing as the new executive office space for the president and their staff. 1952 marks the completion of the Harry S. Truman Renovation (1948-1952), which completely gutted and rebuilt the White House from the inside. While not included on this marker, there was also another significant renovation that took place in 1927 during the Calvin Coolidge administration.

  20. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Domus_Aurea

The Domus Aurea (Latin, “Golden House”) was a vast landscaped complex built by the Emperor Nero largely on the Oppian Hill in the heart of ancient Rome after the great fire in 64 AD had destroyed a large part of the city.[1]

Construction began after the great fire of 64 and was nearly completed before Nero’s death in 68…

A symbol of decadence that caused severe embarrassment to Nero’s successors, the Domus Aurea was stripped of its marble, jewels, and ivory within a decade.[11]

Although the Oppian villa continued to be inhabited for some years, soon after Nero’s death other parts of the palace and grounds, encompassing 2.6 km2 (c. 1 mi2), were filled with earth and built over: the Baths of Titus were already being built on part of the site, probably the private baths, in 79 AD.[12][13] On the site of the lake, in the middle of the palace grounds, Vespasian built the Flavian Amphitheatre, which could be flooded at will,[14] with the Colossus of Nero beside it.[1]

  21. Nero also persecuted Christians the way trumpists persecute immigrants and people of color (who are also largely Christian)

“A unanimous jury has found Ghislaine Maxwell guilty of one of the worst crimes imaginable – facilitating and participating in the sexual abuse of children. Crimes that she committed with her long-time partner and co-conspirator, Jeffrey Epstein. The road to justice has been far too long. But, today, justice has been done. I want to commend the bravery of the girls – now grown women – who stepped out of the shadows and into the courtroom. Their courage and willingness to face their abuser made this case, and today’s result, possible. I also want to thank the career prosecutors of the Southern District of New York, who embraced the victims’ quest for justice and have worked tirelessly, day in and day out, to ensure that Maxwell was held accountable for her crimes. This Office will always stand with victims, will always follow the facts wherever they lead, and will always fight to ensure that no one, no matter how powerful and well connected, is above the law.”

WASHINGTON (AP) — The U.S. Air Force said Thursday it would deny all transgender service members who have served between 15 and 18 years the option to retire early and would instead separate them without retirement benefits.

The latest embarrassment is LA28 chair Casey Wasserman, the man tasked with making sure the 2028 Summer Olympics are a massive success. At a news conference this week announcing that President Trump will head a federal Olympics task force, Wasserman offered L.A. a giant whoopie cushion.

So what did Wasserman, a prominent Democratic donor who in recent months has thrown some cash at Republican committees, do in front of people who want to rain holy hell on his hometown?

He praised Trump’s “support” of the L.A. Olympics as “truly extraordinary” and gifted him a set of medals from the 1984 Games hosted by the city. If that wasn’t groveling enough, Wasserman was grinning after Trump joked about not using an autopen to sign the executive order creating the task force — a jab at President Biden. It was more bricks on the foundation Wasserman has been laying since January, when he met with Trump at Mar-a-Lago.

President Trump floats military use at L.A. Olympics, says there will be sex testing

President Donald Trump signed an executive order on Tuesday to establish a task force that will handle security around the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, saying that he might utilize the military while also asserting there would be “some form” of sex testing for athletes competing in women’s sports.

Flanked by members of his administration, the United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee, and LA28 — the organizing committee for the 2028 Games — Trump said the task force was meant to “(mobilize) the entire federal government to ensure the Games are safe, seamless and historically successful.”

President Donald Trump has directed an “increased presence” of federal law enforcement officials in Washington, D.C., beginning at 12:01 a.m. Friday, the White House announced.

Giving the federal government back control of Washington would require that Congress repeal the Home Rule Act of 1973, a step Trump said lawyers are examining but could face significant pushback.

The White House said federal law enforcement officers will be in the city for a period of at least seven days, with “the option to extend as needed.”
