  1. on one of the ways we got to this point:

“You’d think that once the people gaslighting you on a daily basis have been revealed to be liars, say, in multiple text messages in a $1.6 billion court filing by Dominion Voting Systems, they would pump the breaks, But apparently, some people are just addicted to being dicks.”

Tucker Carlson used the Jan 6th footage he got from House Speaker Kevin McCarthy to cherry-pick innocuous clips in an attempt to rewrite what we all saw happen with our own eyes that day. Elsewhere, federal authorities arrested their 1000th insurrectionist, and failed Arizona gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake may be the former president’s running mate in 2024.

  2. to half the world’s population, happy international women’s day! or in this case this year “hug day” (no that “u” isn’t a misprint even tho’ some comics would say it should be an “a”)

    usatoday.com:

International Women’s Day 2023: What to know about the day and how to #EmbraceEquity
By hugging yourself today, you can show solidarity with women across the world on International Women’s Day.
To celebrate the event, people are being asked to embrace themselves – as a public show of their pledge to embrace equity, which is this year’s International Women’s Day theme – and share the image on social media, video and elsewhere.
By doing so, participants “encourage others to help forge an inclusive world,” the International Women’s Day website rea
“The aim of the IWD 2023 #EmbraceEquity campaign theme is to get the world talking about ‘Why equal opportunities aren’t enough’,” the website reads. “People start from different places, so true inclusion and belonging require equitable action.”

The theme of International Women’s Day 2023 is ’embrace equity’. This video outlines what equity means, and what equity for people of all genders means for your workplace.

What (and when) is International Women’s Day?
Observed annually on March 8, International Women’s Day celebrates the global “social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women,” according to the event website.
The day also calls for action to advance gender equality.

  3. https://www.cnn.com/2023/03/07/health/fda-drug-shipments-khn-partner/index.html

“The FDA said it found 33 packages of opioids and no fentanyl sent by mail in 2022 out of nearly 53,000 drug shipments its inspectors examined at international mail facilities. That’s about 0.06% of examined packages.”

“The No. 1 item was cheap erectile dysfunction pills, like generic Viagra. But there were also prescribed medicines to treat asthma, diabetes, cancer, and HIV.”

“The overwhelming majority were uncontrolled prescription drugs that people had ordered, presumably because they can’t afford the prices at home.”

~If only there were a way to fix price gouging by pharmaceutical companies~

Speaking of which, the Fed doesn’t need to raise interest rates to cool inflation (it isn’t working), what POTUS Joe & Co need to do is FREEZE PRICES. Actually, this should have been put in place last year. Corporate greed is causing this mess to continue…and Republicans will use it in 2024.

“Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is inviting House Speaker Kevin McCarthy to visit Ukraine to see the situation on the ground first hand…”

“Let’s be very clear about what I said: no blank checks, OK? So, from that perspective, I don’t have to go to Ukraine to understand where there’s a blank check or not,” McCarthy told CNN. “I will continue to get my briefings and others, but I don’t have to go to Ukraine or Kyiv to see it.”

Comrade Kevin should know that bees can smell fear and everyone can smell BS.

  5. Jamie,
Yeah, I heard that, but I’m guessing (make that betting) that Kari will wake the f*ck up after doing nothing in the Arizona Capitol for the next year and a half when the RNC meets to coronate Dumbass and will ~~~ graciously and humbly ~~~ accept and stress the ~~ honor ~~ of the nomination.

“California will cease all its business with Walgreens, the retail drugstore chain, Gov. Gavin Newsom said on Monday, days after the company announced it would not dispense abortion medication in 21 Republican-dominated states.”

“Walgreens had responded to legal pressure from Republican attorneys general in 21 states – including a handful where abortion remains legal – in deciding to partially halt its efforts to sell the drug.”

“We intend to be a certified pharmacy and will distribute Mifepristone only in those jurisdictions where it is legal and operationally feasible,” the company said last week in a statement.”

Who da thunk the next civil war would be fought in a uterus?

  7. Lake just being coy.    She’d fight her way to vp like Godzilla stomping across Yokohama.

I’d even make a slight wager that she’s already sealed it while she was somewhere near his orangeness lately. Who else could it even be?

That whole governor thing was just an audition for the gig. Who she kiddin’

  8. sturge, we’ll know for sure when she lets loose with a nasty nickname for nikki who’s the most likely pick for vp no matter who the GOPer nominee is..

  9. https://www.cnn.com/2023/03/07/politics/willow-project-alaska-oil-explained-climate/index.html

“The Biden administration is expected to make a decision soon on whether to approve the controversial Willow Project in Alaska.”

“ConocoPhillips’ proposed Willow Project is a massive and decadeslong oil drilling venture on Alaska’s North Slope in the National Petroleum Reserve, which is owned by the federal government.”

“That oil would take years to reach the market since the project has yet to be constructed.”

*By that time, we could all be using alternative energy.

“The state’s lawmakers say the project will create jobs, boost domestic energy production and lessen the country’s reliance on foreign oil.”

*Do you know what else would stop our dependence on foreign oil? R&D in alternative energy.

“A coalition of Alaska Native groups on the North Slope also supports the project, saying it could be a much-needed new source of revenue for the region and fund services including education and health care.”

“Without that money and revenue stream, we’re reliant on the state and the feds.”

*Nope. Alternative energy components, chips, or many other things could bring revenue. What will definitely be lost is natural habitat, and if it must be tied to money, tourism.

“Other Alaska Natives living closer to the planned project, including city officials and tribal members in the Native village of Nuiqsut, are deeply concerned about the health and environmental impacts of a major oil development.”

“Other “villages get some financial benefits from oil and gas activity but experience far fewer impacts that Nuiqsut,” the letter reads. “We are at ground zero for the industrialization of the Arctic.”

“By the administration’s own estimates, the project would generate enough oil to release 9.2 million metric tons of planet-warming carbon pollution a year – equivalent to adding 2 million gas-powered cars to the roads.”

“Willow advocates, including Alaska lawmakers, vow the project will produce fossil fuel in a cleaner way than getting it from other countries, including Saudi Arabia or Venezuela.”

*That’s a red herring. It’s not a matter of domestic or foreign OIL, it’s a matter of producing cleaner, alternative energy and more efficient machines domestically.

  10. https://www.cnn.com/2023/03/08/politics/sarah-huckabee-sanders-arkansas-child-labor/index.html

“Arkansas Republican Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders signed a bill into law this week that rolls back a number of child labor protections across the state, including a measure that had required employers to obtain work certificates for children under the age of 16.”

*So that’s why Republicans want to control women’s bodies. They need cheap, child labor.

“The bill’s passage comes after the Biden administration announced last month plans to crackdown on labor exploitation of migrant children across the country, the New York Times reported, following an investigation conducted by the publication.”

“When we think about kids working who are 14, we think about who this might protect, it’s not the 14-year-old who’s working at the ice cream parlor in your hometown, whose parents have given them permission to work. We’re worried about the children who are at risk of being exploited and who are being exploited today,” Laura Kellams, the northwest Arkansas director of the Arkansas Advocates for Children and Families, a group that advocates for children’s rights in the state, said earlier this month during a committee hearing on the bill.

“Sanders’ signing of the bill comes after a major US food sanitation company that operated facilities in eight states, including Arkansas, recently paid a $1.5 million civil penalty for employing minors in hazardous conditions.”

*Is Suckabee trying to prove she’s awful enough to be considered for Orange Adolf’s veep?

  11. I think Ms Haley has NO chance of ANY position with the new fat Elvis…….His vp pick will have to, quite simply, pass the Pence-Sessions test…….Ms Lake passed that audition with colors blazing…..she’s proven that she’ll say and do whatever is required of her, no limit.
About the only option for Elected Office Ms Haley has a chance at is senator after graham fades away, probably soon, having lived a life of Useless sycophancy.

Haley also still has that pesky confederate flag issue hanging over her like it’s the flag of Damocles.

  12. I am not sure how this will work out technology wise as twit is having serious issues doing much of anything.  Sarah is the wounded woman I mentioned a while ago.  She did not lose her thumb, the pictures were messed up (real time in combat as they were under fire in the video I was watching), she was wounded by shrapnel on her hand-arm.  She is restricted to the hospital for a while more.  Of interest is that the russians have labeled her “enemy number one”.  She is as high an enemy to the russians as President Zelensky.  Her publicity role is much more than her effectivness in combat on the front lines.  President Zelensky may decide to use her more for support on the political level than allow her to be killed in the trenches.  She was a correspondt for news orgs.

  13. https://www.cnn.com/2023/03/08/economy/food-prices-inflation/index.html

“Companies are maintaining elevated prices, or continuing to increase them, at a time when many Americans are already struggling to pay for food, especially as pandemic-era food stamp benefits expire. “This kind of activity, in a big picture way, reduces the standard of living for the country,” said Lang.

“There have been supply chain pressures, and there have been commodity cost increases. But [companies] have, I think, taken price increases that exceed that,” said Mark Lang, an associate professor of marketing at the University of Tampa who specializes in food marketing. “They are, to me, absolutely profit taking.”

Corporate greed could’ve been mitigated with price controls. They are still called for, instead of raising interest rates. Help the average American. Water the roots, not the treetops.
