Miss Sally’s Party, is a 1940 ballet composition in eight-movements by American composer William Grant Still. It was dedicated to Thelma Biracree who choregraphed and danced the part of Miss Sally in the first performance of the ballet in Rochester NY, 1941.

  6. I wonder if the automobile accident fatality rate among celebrities is comparable to the automobile accident fatality rate among my friends and neighbors on the island.  You know, Deaths per thousand or something.

    The never-ending task of the political cartoonist is to find visual metaphors for the absurdities, abuses and outrages in public life. Today, I find the chicken coop an apt metaphor for the Republican Party.
    With exceedingly rare exceptions, such as Utah Sen. Mitt Romney, most prominent Republicans have chickened out of all but the most timid critiques of ex-President Donald Trump, even as the indictments pile up against him. It has become irrefutably obvious that Trump is a self-aggrandizing, amoral con man who would sell out his party and his country for the right price, yet very few so-called leaders in the GOP are bold enough to declare he should never be allowed back into the White House. That includes almost all of the cowering cocks and hens who are trying to win the Republican presidential nomination themselves, but who are desperately trying to do so without riling up Trump and his MAGA mob.
    Even some of the members of Congress who now express grave concerns about Trump’s mishandling of top-secret documents finish off their comments by saying they would still support him if he is their party’s standard-bearer in the 2024 election. That kind of craven moral jiu jitsu is astonishing.
    Beyond the hen house, there are other analogies to be found, like the right-wing media foxes who guard the hen house but would eat alive any chicken who proves disloyal to Trump and the cuckoo birds and weasels in the House and Senate, such as Georgia’s Marjorie Taylor Greene, Ohio’s Jim Jordan and Mississippi’s Tommy Tuberville, who regurgitate Trump’s preposterous claims of partisan persecution while declaring war on the FBI, the Justice Department and the American legal system.
    There once were many individuals like Romney in the Republican Party who, when faced with the choice, put principle above partisanship. Now, it is all chickens, weasels and an ever-expanding flock of cuckoos.

    Huh? Children’s Health Defense. I know Kennedy’s already have money, but is this a grift?

    “A photo posted on Instagram showed Kennedy backstage at a July 2021 Reawaken America event with former President Donald Trump’s ally Roger Stone, former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn and anti-vaccine profiteer Charlene Bollinger. All three have promoted the lie about the 2020 election being stolen.”

    “Bollinger has appeared with Kennedy at multiple events. She and her husband sponsored an anti-vaccine, pro-Trump rally near the Capitol on Jan. 6. Bollinger celebrated the attack and her husband tried to enter the Capitol. Kennedy later appeared in a video for their Super PAC.”

  18. Sturg – Basically, it looks like Tim Scott and Nikki Hayley are vying to become Grand Wizard of the GQP.  They are lying to themselves if they think the majority of their own party accepts them.   They are lying to themselves if they don’t see the systemic inequality that still exists.  Nikki is lying to herself even more than Tim, because she is trying to head up a party of misogynists.  If she finds herself in the number two spot, it will merely be tokenism; it will be just another bit of Republican deception. I suspect they both actually know the truth.

    The party’s job opening will likely go to Orange Adolf or DuhSantis. It’s fun to watch Chris Christie go after tRUMPsky, but it also helps DuhSantis which still hurts democracy.
