  9. Last night, about 7,Ā  there was a knock on the door. It was my neighbor, his mother had made Christmas tamales. She gave meĀ  dozen. I ate 4 last night, screwed up my blood sugar but it was worth it.Ā 
    I’ve got a big red bag full of Christmas gifts setting in the front room. I’m one of Santas helpers making sure that Presents get from the North Pole to deserving children. It is a chain of custody Ms Jessie left them with me, I will get them to the pastors wife and she will make sure they get to the children in time for Christmas. Ā 
    And you thought it was something as simple as coming down aĀ  stove flue.

  12. Poobah, Ā Doug Jones stands a chance of getting reelected somewhere close to the chance a snowflake stands in hell. I donā€™t know why He thinks he stands any more chance if he votes to acquit rather than convict Shit For Brains despite the fact that Alabama is so full of stupid I canā€™t stand it. Iā€™d like to think that if I were in that position, Id rather go down In defeat knowing that Iā€™ve done the right thing Than go down to Defeat knowing I had done the wrong thing to try and save my own ass to the detriment of the country. But then again, I suppose he could be thinking he can retain his seat and that might help the dems retain the Senate and be a check against dumb ass. Regardless, it strikes me as cravenly self serving and no better than the repugnicans.Ā 

  13. Jack I tried to find a posted recording of this yearā€™s performance but couldnā€™t. There are a few on YouTube dating back to Leonard Bernstein but not from this year. Shame, too. The featured vocalists were phenomenal.Ā

  24. pogo & bink, i’m of the same mind as craig that he was “showing an open mind.” Ā  as well he and all his colleaguesĀ  should in public statements prior to trial.Ā  they take an oath under senate rules to be impartial in such a trial.

    could be she’s making mitch have to address some of the 400 bills that are languishing on his desk.Ā  remember he chided the House for causing Senate to set aside important work in order to do the trial.Ā  well, now you have all the time in the world, mitch, to pass a few of those like H.R. 1 For the People Act, stuff on election security, daca, etc.

  27. question:Ā  why are polls being taken about who is/isn’t for impeachment now that he is already impeached?Ā  the deed is done. Ā  they should be polling on the conviction, removal, mere chastisement and acquittal questions. Ā

    The share of Americans who want Trump removed from office has climbed since the House’s impeachment proceedings concluded on Wednesday. Another Politico/Morning Consult poll taken before the impeachment vote on December 14-15 found that 50% of Americans supported Trump’s impeachment, compared with 52% in the most recent poll.
    Like the impeachment vote itself, public support for Trump’s removal falls largely along party lines. Eighty-five percent of Democrats agree with the House’s decision to impeach, compared with only 16% of Republicans.

    It would have been better for him to say that the “charges look very serious and believe that we need to hear both sides present their witnesses. After which I will make up my mind if theĀ  conduct warrants impeachment. ”
