  1. above not meant to be mixed up with the other GA Uga (Uga X pictured below) and certainly not meant to be disrespectful to the lady DA who some describe as a pit bull in heels.

    Uga

  2. a blurb from earlier this year about that one:

Where is Uga? Why Georgia’s bulldog mascot didn’t make trip to LA for College Football Playoff championship | Sporting News

Uga has been a staple at Georgia games for more than 60 years. The lovable bulldog mascot has become synonymous with Georgia football, donning his own custom jersey and special collar.
Georgia is now on Uga X, whose real name is Que. The Bulldogs have enjoyed their highest levels of success with this pooch keeping watch from the sidelines. Georgia won the national championship in 2021, and after going undefeated so far in 2022, the Bulldogs are back in the title game against TCU.
Que, or Uga X, has been a regular at Georgia games since he was introduced in 2015 and presided over Georgia’s victory against Alabama in Indianapolis last year. However, Uga won’t be in Los Angeles when Georgia takes on the Horned Frogs.

  3. Team Trump is wasting no time returning fire at Fani. Per usual they offer no defenses to the charges against him but instead try to make it all about who’s bringing the charges.

In an email blast entitled “The Truth About Fani Willis” the Trump campaign last night broadcast a fundraiser that also delivers talking points for their surrogates on TV to attack Willis and avoid trying to defend Trump’s conduct. Read Email

In a particularly devious part they insinuate she had an affair with a gang leader she prosecuted, as Trump himself has repeatedly said. The real truth is she once represented him as a defense attorney, and that’s it.

Willis Hid A Prior Relationship With A Member Of A Gang She Was Prosecuting

Willis Was The Lawyer For A YSL Gang Co-Founder In 2019 In An Aggravated Assault Case. “Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis has built a reputation as a tough-on-crime prosecutor eager to fill Atlanta prisons through sweeping indictments. But YSL Mondo, who co-founded the Young Stoner Life music crew with Young Thug in the early 2010s, tells Rolling Stone that the Fani Willis he sees on TV isn’t the same woman who served as his defense attorney in 2019 during an aggravated assault case.” (RollingStone, 1/25/23)

Mondo Said That Willis Was A “Great Attorney” And That They Shared A “Cool Relationship.” “Mondo says that Willis was a “great attorney” for him, getting his aggravated assault charge dropped to a lesser one and having him sentenced to “a program” in lieu of prison time. He says that even after his sentence, she worked to get him an early release from the program due to COVID. And beyond her casework, he says that the two shared a “cool relationship,” with her being aware of his rap career and even using it in her defense. That’s why the YSL indictment is surprising to Mondo. “That’s not her character,” he contends. “She’s almost like, not really street, but she understands what goes on, bro. She understands life to a certain degree. She ain’t trying to take all these little Black dudes down. She ain’t that type of woman, man. I’m telling you, she’s not.” (Rolling Stone, 1/25/23)

  4. MTG stirs VP pot: “I have a lot of things to think about. Am I going to be a part of President Trump’s Cabinet if he wins? Is it possible that I’ll be VP?” Greene called serving as Trump’s running mate “an honor” and something she would consider “very, very heavily.” — Atlanta Journal Constitution

  5. according to this old quote about her childhood from Time by mediaite yesterday, mondo is probably right to say she has street cred given her father’s background:

The daughter of a former Black Panther who recently retired as a criminal defense lawyer, the Inglewood, Calif.-born Willis would go along when her father went to court on Saturday mornings. The judge who oversaw the Saturday courtroom, an older white man, was, according to Willis, known to be mean. But each week, he had Willis, too young to stay home alone or to hear the details her father needed to discuss with clients, sit next to him on the elevated dais, the two whispering back and forth. One day, Willis’ father asked her what on earth they talked about.

  6. Character assassination to deflect from his own wrongdoings and shortcomings.  Classic Orange Adolf.  At some point, can some of his targets (there are more than E Jean Carrol out there) him for slander?    The election workers Rudy made untrue comments about are suing him.
    https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/2020-election/rudy-giuliani-concedes-made-false-statements-georgia-election-workers-rcna96395

“Giuliani had claimed that Freeman and Moss were “passing around USB ports like they were vials of heroin or cocaine.” In reality, as reflected in the Jan. 6 committee report, they were passing a ginger mint.”

A lie about what they were doing, with a twist of racism.  That’ll cost him, if he has any money.

  7. I don’t see how Meadows can get this moved to federal court, although it’s clear that he’s trying to save his ass without flipping.
States are responsible for election activity and he tried to interfere in the election at the state level.

Plus, is he admitting that his task as COS was to insert himself into state proceedings?

  8. Greene called serving as Trump’s running mate “an honor” and something she would consider “very, very heavily.”

She’s using his inappropriate adverbs now.

  9. new AP – NORC poll:

53 percent in new poll say they would not support Trump if he is GOP nominee  | The Hill

More than half of Americans surveyed said they would not support former President Trump in the 2024 general election if he is the Republican nominee, according to a new poll.
The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research poll released Wednesday found that 53 percent of Americans said they would definitely not support Trump if he was the nominee. Another 11 percent saying that they would probably not support him.

  10. getting back to that question from fani’s dad “One day, Willis’ father asked her what on earth they talked about.”

the Time article on her response was:

“I said, ‘He’s asking me, Should they go home or should they go to the back?’” Willis says with glee.
The back meant jail. One day after court, the judge asked Willis what she wanted to do when she grew up. When she said she wanted to be a judge, he told her she would first have to become a lawyer, a person who reads a lot and explains the law. Willis told him she could read, so she could certainly do that.
“And I’ve never wanted to be anything else,” Willis says.

  11. pat, apt comment.  Stupidly applies to almost everything she says.  I’m waiting for bigly – it’s got to come out of her at some point.

  12. Heard that on MoJo, Poobah.  I know that NY & DC “senior” attorneys bill at high rates, but that would be $2500/hour for an 8 hour day.  Seems a bit excessive to me. And for Rudee? His track  record post election whether in the courtroom or simply trying to pressure elected officials to break the law doesn’t seem to justify such a billing rate. Top bankruptcy attorneys bill at about half that (Proskauer, Rose; Skadden Arps; Kirkland & Ellis bill around $1325, and Rudee ain’t in their league)

  13. https://www.cnn.com/2023/08/15/politics/giuliani-money-lawsuits-trump/index.html

“In court on Monday, the former New York City mayor said the legal quagmires have left him effectively out of cash. He even appears to have responded to some of the money crunch by listing for sale a 3-bedroom Manhattan apartment he owns for $6.5 million.”

“Not including standard legal fees, Giuliani faces nearly $90,000 in sanctions from a judge in a defamation case, a $20,000 monthly fee to a company to host his electronic records, $15,000 or more for a search of his records, and even a $57,000 judgment against his company for unpaid phone bills.”

“While Giuliani’s attorneys’ fees have not been paid directly by Trump’s political action committee, Trump’s PAC paid more than $300,000 in May to a company handling Giuliani’s archived records for evidence preservation in court cases, according to federal campaign finance records and court filings.”

“Giuliani is facing disbarment proceedings in DC and New York. His law license is already suspended – a situation his attorneys say leaves him further hampered from making money. And he is facing a personal lawsuit from an ex-employee filed in May, which he is contesting.”

Too stupid to cut bait, until it was too late.

  14. sept 5th proposed for arraignment

sturge, thanks for the “arraigny night in Georgia” find. It really really calls out for a good parody perhaps a chorus along the lines of

arraigny day in Georgia, arraigny day in Georgia

Lord, feels like she’s RICOed all that wacko world …

  15. Re: my 12:09 comment, That’s old info – about 4 years old.  Top partners at the big commercial firms have inched up to about $2000 per hour.  My comment about Rudee not being in that league stands.

  16. https://www.cnn.com/2023/08/16/investing/premarket-stocks-trading/index.html

“But Securities and Exchange Commission filings out Monday showed that Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway (BRKA) sold almost $8 billion more in shares than it bought in the second quarter of 2023. That’s not too much by his standards, but a significant move when the market is up.”

“Michael Burry, the “Big Short” investor who became famous for correctly predicting the epic collapse of the housing market in 2008, also made a gigantic bet last quarter on a Wall Street crash. Burry’s fund, Scion Asset Management, bought $866 million in put options (that’s the right to sell an asset at a particular price) against a fund that tracks the S&P 500, and $739 million in put options against a fund that tracks the Nasdaq 100.”

Stop raising interest rates. Tax top earners and corporations. Put more money in workers’ pockets instead of trying to mske them homeless. Healthcare for all.

  17. I have a couple of BlueSky invites available if anyone is interested in that.  Several key updates have made it more interesting and usable.  It is not twit, yet.  It is the app made by the original twit developers.

  18. https://www.cnn.com/2023/08/16/politics/george-santos-fundraiser-indicted-kevin-mccarthy/index.html

    In Santos news:

“A federal grand jury in Brooklyn indicted Samuel Miele, who worked for the Santos campaign during the 2020 and 2022 election cycles, on four counts of wire fraud and one count of aggravated identity theft in the alleged scheme to defraud prospective donors, according to the indictment unsealed Wednesday.”

“Miele allegedly impersonated a top aide to House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, according to a source familiar with the case.”

“Santos’ fundraiser received a 15% commission on the campaign contributions he raised, the filing says.”

“According to the indictment, Miele wrote to Santos in a September 2022 letter, “Faking my identity to a big donor.”

“High risk, high reward in everything I do,” Miele also wrote.

  19. Can the folks whose info Don Con disseminated sue him?  The only reasons to do that are to intimidate others and send a message  to his supporters to go after them.   He will continue to get folks harmed and killed.  Mobster and monster.

“The Fort Worth Independent School District has closed all of its district libraries to re-examine the books on its shelves…”

“…the action comes after a July 25 board meeting where questions were raised in public comment about the content of books on the shelves in district libraries (public comment starts about 25 minutes into the board meeting). More than a dozen parents and concerned citizens spoke on the matter at the meeting.”

“The inventory shutdown also comes ahead of a new state law that goes into effect Sept. 1. A district spokesperson told WFAA the decision to rate books comes as a direct result of House Bill 900, authored by Republican Rep. Jared Patterson, of Frisco – known as the READER Act – which was signed into law by Gov. Greg Abbott.”

The “READER” Act is clearly New Speak. Oh, and New Speak is a term that comes from a banned book, so…

It’s too bad these fundamentalist, right-wing nuts don’t just homeschool their kids instead of helping to dumb down an entire generation.

  21. There’s that word in all caps, again.   “RIGGERS”  He’s calling the hounds, but everyone can hear him whistling.

  22. So, Monday rolls around and Orange Adolf shows up in NJ with a document that someone is still concocting.  When he makes any of those claims in the document, does he not just make more trouble for himself?

Does whomever concocted the document also make trouble for themselves?

If he’s spewing false info, is that going to just be tampering with potential jurors and obstruction of justice for this case, or does this become a separate case that can be brought against him and the author(s) of the document?

Do you think Eric and/or Cokey are working on it, or any of the other inducted or unindicted in this case?

Will this little stunt cause anyone to see what a disaster this guy is and start doing backflips for Fani?

He needs to lose everyone and everything for this to have a proper Shakespearean feel.

  23. Hope he gets to choke on some jail food. I heard they don’t serve lunch some days, you have to get the ramen noodles or go hungry.

  24. Federal agents arrest 43-year-old Texan woman for allegedly making threats against Judge Tanya Chutkan, who presides over the election interference case linked to Donald Trump.

  25. Arrested woman’s voicemail threat to Judge Chutkan: “Hey you stupid slave” followed by a racial epithet and then proceeded to threaten to kill anyone who went after Trump. “You are in our sights, we want to kill you,” Shry allegedly said at one point, later adding, “If Trump doesn’t get elected in 2024, we are coming to kill you, so tread lightly, b****.”

“In new allegations revealed Wednesday, Texas House investigators accused suspended Attorney General Ken Paxton of engaging in a complex cover-up to hide his relationship with real estate investor Nate Paul as senior aides grew increasingly concerned about Paxton’s willingness to use his office to benefit Paul.”

“The subterfuge allegedly included Paxton and Paul creating an Uber account under an alias so they could meet each other and so the attorney general could visit the woman with whom he was having an extramarital affair.”

  27. https://www.cnn.com/2023/08/15/us/hawaii-wildfire-lahaina-aid-anger/index.html

“But between the disappointing official response, tourists who went snorkeling during the search for bodies and stories of real estate speculators hounding families in grief, Hawaii’s famous “aloha spirit” is being strained.”

“One of the struggles we will see in this community, is the big land buyers are going to buy us out. And you know what happens if that happens? We’re gone. The people who lived here a very, very long time are going to get offers to leave. We need to find solutions to guarantee that they don’t have to come back to ground zero and pay for building their homes from the bottom up.”

“It’s hard to be a Hawaiian in Hawaii.”

“While the Hawaii Visitors and Convention Bureau took to social media to “strongly discourage” visitors from vacationing on the western side of Maui. Peneku was more blunt.”

“Leave,” he said. “Give us the chance to heal. If any one of those tourists’ homes burned down, they wouldn’t want anybody outside their home doing fun excursions. They would want time to mourn. They would want time to rebuild.”

President Biden goes to Maui on Monday, even as a high wind event is scheduled in Bedminster, NJ that day.
