  1. also to same tune, here is my updated contribution of 1st verse. the rest hopefully to be completed by trail mixers:

“the Don we know is off his trolley. Folly, folly, folly. We all are screwed.”

  2. boss, about those excess bananas:

    1. they make tasty sammiches. see photo.

    2. some folks peel, skewer with popsicle sticks, coat  in chocolate and freeze them for handy summer treats.

    3. they make great smoothies with vanilla yogurt, pineapple, mango and oranges.

    4. and don’t forget from scratch ripe banana vanilla wafer pudding topped with merengue (some folk prefer whipped cream, but i’m a strict constructionist… and tho’ tasty and less work that’s not what the founding fathers favored)

  3. while googling for sugar plum recipes, i
saw this on cooks.com and wondered if one could add cream cheese without said cheese melting in a pan sticking mess

PECAN – STUFFED DATES WITH BACON

    1 lb. pitted dates
1 (4 oz.) pkg. whole blanched almonds or walnuts or whole pecans
1 1/4 lb. very thinly sliced lean bacon

Stuff each date with a pecan. Cut bacon strip into thirds and wrap a piece around each date. Secure with a round wooden toothpick. Put the dates on foil lined baking sheet and bake in preheated 400 degree preheated oven until the bacon is crisp, about 12-15 minutes. Drain on a rack paper towel. Serve warm. Makes 60 hors d’oeuvres.Note: Prepared dates can be frozen in advance and baked unthawed in a preheated 400 degree oven until crisp.

  4. Then there is this internet classic, Ding Fries are Done

Created years ago by some unknown genius as you can tell by the animation.

There is also another version, the Family Guy folks stole it and tried to make it their own. But the original classic is so much more fun imo

Beware, at least for me it is a serious earworm. I’m seating here right now with “Ding Fries are Done” going through my head in constant repetition.

  5. My favorite Chanukah song is Stephen Colbert & Jon Stewart’s, “Can I Interest You In Chanukah”?

(“What are candles?  THEY ARE CANDLES”!)  It gets me every time.

From the same Colbert special, his duet with Elvis Costello, “There Are Worse Things To Believe In,” is amazing.

  6. Don wants coal in hi-is stocking, folly, folly, folly, folly-la.

That means miners must be working, not that he’s been naughty, folly-la.

(Vil karols be zung in zee orighinal Cherman next year?)

  7. wapo: Russian ambassador in Turkey killed in gun attack at Ankara photo exhibit

“Allah Akbar! Do not forget Aleppo!” said the gunman, according to the widely circulated video. “Do not forget Syria! Do not forget Aleppo! Do not forget Syria! As long as our lands are not safe, you will not be safe!

Just stopping by to wish all of the trailmixers ….the oldies and the newbies a very Feliz Navidad…and a Christmas hug to all…..even those that are not talking to me  cause they are a little pished due to my election narratives …..

Pat,   a science christmas…yes, thanks for the Bill Nye the science guy vid i opened the link in an……Auttosecond……great stuff….but i only had one little problem….the vid led me to another and another…t.ook me about an hr to get out of it…..enjoyed it all.  Ive told the very same things to my very religious family that doesnt believe in science…..the reason that i keep saying that science and religion should be taught at the same time, in the same classroom along with religion….is for the comparisons….i dont know too many people….that have read the bible from start to finish…….if they did…..they would be come atheist immediately…….

Science…..thats the ticket…..mind/body connection should be taught in all schools and all levels……how many religions would believe (most people dont know) that we grow a new brain once a year….but if we do/eat the same junk foods all the time….it will remain like the old one….we notice it bey doing things differently and in a more healthy manner…..we grow new skin every few wks……..we grow new kidneys every few months….all science proven………..and the way is mostly in what we eat……..

Here is one way:  save all of your egg shells………wash and boil them…..grind them into a fine powder and sprinkle it on food or salads…..this is what i did when the killer doctors told me i had to have knee and back surgery…plus meditation imagining a perfect knee and back bone Mind and body connection, correct breathing methods and exercises are some ways for a quality life…..the eggs shell builds new bone mtls….and much more……….sprinkle it on dog and cat food for a  pet to live longer…..ok thats my christmas present to the trail

Oh….an attosecond is a billionth of a billionth second….let the bible explain that one away……but who is counting anyway?…one, two, three, hold on this might take a little bit of time…later

The New Messiah’s gotta ban Frosty the Snowman !

It’s all about enticing our children to get hooked on heroine.

  11. Blondy gal, from international science news

    This is for you:

    Why Science?

Philosopher-scientist Herbert Spencer once defined science as “organized knowledge.” But your current shopping list is an example of organized knowledge, and it’s not science. So what is science, really? An interviewer recently asked me just that, and I gave her some kind of answer. Thinking more about it since then, here’s what I wish I had said:

Science is the design or conduct of reproducible experiments to test how nature works, or the creation of theories that can themselves be tested by such experiments. Science is also the orderly observation of events that cannot yet be manipulated, and, ultimately, the testing of many different such observations as the basis for theories to explain the events.

This makes science the one human activity that seeks knowledge in an organized way. It’s not the knowledge that’s organized, it’s the seeking. Science doesn’t guess, doesn’t hope, doesn’t wish, doesn’t trust, doesn’t believe.

    Science seeks.

It’s the search that makes science so powerful and so exciting. Science does add to our store of knowledge, but some of the knowledge it adds turns out to hurt more than it helps. Science does lead to new products, some of which prove not to be so good, either. It’s the seeking that makes science what it is.

Seeking is a uniquely humble human experience. It doesn’t say I know, it says I need to find out. It doesn’t declare one thing better than another, it merely describes each thing as it finds it. It doesn’t tell anyone how to do anything, it merely discovers how nature does things.

Humble, nonjudgmental, nondirective. What other human enterprise has this cluster of attributes, this quiet dignity? And the best that there is of this enterprise goes on at universities, where much of the research is basic science, a simple search for truth. UniSci is pleased to have American universities as its “beat,” and the research they perform as the material it covers.

We hope we cover it well. We also hope that our coverage will enhance the respect that society has for the scientific method and the scientific bent of mind, and its willingness to support them, particularly at the level of basic research.

Science is mankind’s organized search for truth. That in itself answers the question,

  12. I get a chuckle looking at my calendar from the Holocaust Museum. For Dec 25th they show:
    Dec 25
    First Day of Hanukkah
    Christmas Day
    (Museum Closed)

    Then for Monday:
    Dec 26
    Christmas Day
    (Observed)

  13. Solarman….  thanks for the tip on egg shells.  I LOVE eggs.  I eat them at breakfast everyday.  I never believed that crap about the yolk being bad for you.  Now science….   yes science…   is proving me right.   Merry Christmas to you and Judy!

  14. Solar, Feliz Navidad to you and everyone else here, there and everywhere.  Your election narratives livened things up.  Even an agnostical atheist like me believes it’s fine to wish people good cheer in the vernacular of the season.  For those whose season ain’t Christmas, Happy Holidays.

Solar, the Science Channel has been running a bunch of “How the Universe Works” episodes over the past couple weeks.  I just love them.  Bunch of smart folks like Michio Kaku explain stuff to dolts like me.

So’s I wandered over to WaPo and was treated to this stuff from Kellyann Conway (paid liar) in Kristine Guerra’s article today:

“The CIA shared its assessment with key senators in a recent closed-door meeting on Capitol Hill. The senators were told that it was “quite clear” that electing Trump was Russia’s goal, according to the officials, who spoke on the condition of anonymity.

Conway said that there is no evidence that Russia had interfered to get Trump elected and that the Post story had no on-the-record sources.

Conway said respecting intelligence agencies and calling their findings laughable are “completely compatible.”

“He absolutely respects the intelligence community,” she said. “He’s made it very clear. He’s going to put his own people in there, as well.”

So much gobbldygook. Up is down, black is white, day is night. No on the record sources re: the intelligence assessment of the CIA? Is she nuts? (Oh, sorry… of course)

  15. The news media wonders why people treat them with contempt because they interview people like Kelly Ann Condom as though she wsn’t the biggest ‘effin moron on the planet. Anyone can lie their way to success – all the Trumpettes together – water seeks its own level….and their’s is somewhere around the 7th circle of hell.

  16. KC, I forget, is first or ninth worst?  😉

Methinks she should get at least one of the Bogias of the 8th if not one of the rounds of the 9th rating.  Bolgia 10 (Falsifiers) of the 8th seems to fit her to a T.

  17. It is time for a last minute stonewall defense.

The deadbeat is at 262. Clinton at 166.

Ask your Higher Power for a really huge favor !

  18. I would ask my higher power for dat but ‘cept for already axing for a great number of other type stuffs I’m loath to add to the list……..

  19. Question: How long before Trump instructs the Treasury to put his puss on a $100 bill? Has the NPS scrape off Jefferson to make room for his coif on Mount Rushmore? Might he have charter school kids pledge allegiance to the Trump?

The thing about Kellyanne Conway, besides the odd name, is the way her body language is in complete contradiction to what comes out of her mouth. She will dispute/twist/lie while all the while sporting a huge crooked smile and mouthing “Be nice!” (Watch her sometime.) I’ve only known one other human to do that, smile and nod in agreement while refuting anything I said, and she was certifiable.

One thing’s certain: we are in for a Golden Orange Age of political satire. Where art thou, Smothers Brothers?

  20. A little Christmas in space tidbit. The iconic “earthrise” image that was taken on December 24, 1968 is the subject of this cute informative video. Amazing story of how someone finally determined who took the picture!

  21. Isn’t it time for Olberman to crawl back into his hole?  We got a nation to worry about and he is as much of a nut case as Rushbo, just with a different shtick.
I’m getting tired of the let wing protestors who have demonstrated they are politically powerless but clueless as to how to move on.
